I don’t usually leave reviews, but I was really disappointed by my experience at Mary Mary. My partner and I had just finished a great dinner at Peppina and thought we’d head through the connecting entrance for a cocktail to finish the night. We hadn’t been before and entered through the back entrance, not realising there was a process to be seated.
When we approached the bar, a staff member asked if we were right. We said we were just figuring things out, and the response we got "Do you have a table?" followed by "Well, go to the front then" was really abrupt and left us feeling pretty uncomfortable. It wasn’t clear what the set-up was, and we were made to feel like idiots for not knowing how it worked.
I completely understand if it’s a table service only venue, but a more welcoming explanation like “Hi there, we’re a table service bar, if you head to the front someone can help you find a seat” would have made all the difference.
After that interaction, we decided not to bother asking for a seat and went elsewhere for a drink. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, this one wasn’t great.
