Bought our son's birthday cake there yesterday. The cake itself was incredible. And they have never failed me on that aspect. I ordered a half sheet cake, which was around $50-$55. The icing was Eagles themed. When I went to pick it up they charged me $80+. I asked why the $25+ charge. Apparently, it was for the icing on the cake and the design. Totally fine if someone told me beforehand. Was a big shock when I now had no other choice on the day of my son's birthday party.

Google
Thank you so much for making my son's 2nd birthday so special! He currently is obsessed with the mailman, so that was our theme. Everyone was so pleasant to work with and the cake was delicious! We are local and come in a lot to grab donuts and other great treats! Thank you again :)

Wow, I've received food from this bakery as gifts. I've also had someone from my office bring in baked goods from here for many occasions. This place sets the bar for high quality baked goods. I recently had these breakfast Danish that were like nothing else I ever had before. I am attaching a photo. They had spinach and cheese, another had sun dried tomato with almost a buttery egg flavor baked in. Another was a piece of deli ham and cheese wrapped in a pastry. It was delightful and a nice change from many of the excellent sweet pastries that are out there. What a refreshing surprise. Also pictured is an excellent cinnamon apple crumb ring. Huge and delightful.

Maryanne’s Pastry Shoppe is a true gem! Their pastries are always fresh, delicious, and made with care. As a long-time customer, we’ve had the pleasure of working with their team, and they are nothing short of fantastic—friendly, professional, and passionate about what they do. If you're looking for high-quality baked goods and great service, this is the place to go!

During our annual visit last year, we thoroughly enjoyed their strawberry shortcake so this year after eating and liking their cupcake with peanut butter mousse and chocolate, we decided to get their peanut butter mousse pie because we love peanut butter. When we received it, it looked great but tasted terrible. So much so that both my mom and I threw out our halves, which we have never done for a peanut butter bakery item. The picture of the slice says it all. First, they just add some peanut butter mousse to their stabilized whipped cream and then fail to fully blend them together. This made the filling heavy and lacking in peanut butter flavor. Second, the graham cracker crust lacked flavor and had the texture of a factory produced one and lastly, the stabilized whipped cream decorations on top should have been flavored with peanut butter. I have not tried any of their other pies to comment on them but do not get their peanut butter one. The next week, we reordered their 8-inch strawberry shortcake that we enjoyed so much the previous year. It was still good, but it would have been much better if between the cake layers, they would have used only strawberries as the filling rather than stabilized whipped cream with an occasional strawberry.

Google
Amazing bakery! First time using them and can’t wait to order from them again. They made me an Eagles themed 40th birthday cake!

Jonathan Corish

Google
This place has the best cupcakes and cakes. The strawberry shortcakes are amazing! A pro tip is that the cakes are better when pre-ordered and not bought out of the case. But definitely a great place to pick up last minute pastries on your way to a party.

I came all the way from the Poconos to try out your ice cream and pastries and both are delicious. The customer service was wonderful as well

Yelp
Okay ... the time has come. I hate giving bad reviews and I won't bash them . Because I'm sure they still have some very good products it's just not worth it for me anymore to get the items that I used to like. I also am fully aware it's a small business and with inflation prices are bound to increase but I felt very ripped off. I bought 4 cupcakes - they're $3.50 each - totally fine. Thats $14. I also bought 3 macarons which the girl said were $1.25 each, also totally reasonable. So now I'm at $17.75 Tell me how I spent $41 and change when the only other things I bought were 3 decorated sugar cookies and 6 petit fours. That means I spent $23 on 3 cookies and 6 petit four. Maybe that's an okay price actually . If the cookie were 4 that'd be 12 and then I spent 11 on those cakes. Sure I guess the price isn't bad. Everything was beautiful by the way. But the cupcakes weren't filled. Again not bad for the price. And the petit fours were not the traditional layered I'm used to. Maybe I just expected more ? Again nothing per se is expensive. And the quality isn't bad either I just don't ever leave loving anything I've purchased. My petit fours also got stuck to the wrappers so I had to eat paper. I just wish I could go in here and order something and know I'll love it. I'd spend more if that were the case ! Again- not a bad review. I know my best friend loves their pastries - but it's just not a place for me anymore to get what I love. I wish them the best and many more years ahead!

Yelp
Pretty good bakery for donuts, especially the pumpkin/cream cheese iced. The crumb cake is eh...too dry and not enough crumb topping. Their linzer tarts are pretty bad. The raspberry filling is awful. If you're right there and need a sugar fix, it's ok. I wouldn't drive out of my way.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
Cookies were delicious! Linzer tart was good too. The vanilla cupcake with a cherry on top was really divine though. Chocolate cupcake with the white swirl on top just was alright though, wouldn't get that one again. Parking was fabulous and the place was clean inside. Service was quick. Been there twice since I found it, two weeks apart. Losing a star because the prices changed based on who was ringing me out! The older last who works there was lovely. The girls aren't all too friendly and seem to overcharge. Still, going back for the vanilla cupcake and cookies!

Rachel R.

Yelp
Overwhelming taste of vegetable shortening in dough. Very disappointed as was hoping to find good buttery Danish dough.

Yelp
Second time now that I took home a stale and dry cake. I wanted to give this place another shot because I love shopping at the local stores but two family birthdays have now had stale cake.

Jill B.

Yelp
We recently purchased two packaged cookies and a 2024 birthday cake. Horrible! The cookies were rock hard and the cake had disgusting crisco Type frosting loaded on top-not worth eating at all- we threw both away- Never again-$35 for the cake and $4 for each inedible cookie.

Tina F.

Yelp
They make the best sticky buns and pastries in the area. The staff is always friendly also.

Julianne M.

Yelp
Love Maryann's cakes and cupcakes we have been going for years and will be returning again!

Yelp
I went here for coffee. I do not eat pastries because of my low carb diet so I cannot really comment on those. That being said the coffee here was very good. I had the Pumpkin Spice. The atmosphere was great. They have a little fireplace and you can sit there, and drink your coffee. The staff was fantastic. They were very friendly and attentive. The best part is they were not very busy when I went so I did not have to wait long to get the coffee. The bottom line is when I want a quick cup of good tasting coffee in Doylestown, I will come here. They get 4 Siberian Husky paws up

Yelp
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! we ordered a gender reveal cake from this place (They gave us the wrong gender color!!!). We had given them a piece of paper written really big of what the gender of the baby is (how could someone get this wrong)... WELL THEY DID. my sister and brother in law cut open the cake which was BLUE. We were so happy yay it's a boy. NOPE! we open the results we gave them after which says "ITS A GIRL" in pink letters written very big. HOW DOES ONE MESS THIS UP. you ruined their gender reveal, videos and photography they paid for. The results clearly say it's a girl and you gave a blue cake. it's not even about the money it's about ruining a once in a life time experience with family that one will never get back. we called to complain and the owner/manager Susan didn't even apologize she said "there's nothing we can do". unprofessional , horrible experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone. new parents thinking they are having one gender but it's wrong because you couldn't do a simple job. Shit service and lazy baker who cannot READ.

Yelp
In the past we've purchased various small items like cookies, cupcakes and danish. Overpriced, but it's in Doylestown. The stuff was okay. Nothing I'd travel-for. This week bought a gorgeously-decorated birthday cake. It was terrible. The cake itself tasted like and had the consistency of a box cake, and the frosting was gummy. Inside and out. We did not finish eating our pieces, and we threw it out. And we hate wasting food.

Yelp
This was our first time ordering a birthday cake from Maryanne Pastry Shoppe. We will be going back!! Their customer service was very helpful and friendly. They had never done a "Baby Shark" cake before so I emailed a few photos and asked them to come up with something creative. Our whole family was impressed but most importantly was my 2 year old grandson :) It was a delicious chocolate cake with buttercream icing. Thank you for doing such a great job!

BK M.

Yelp
The shop is pretty and the baked goods look lovely. There is a lot of choose from. The girl waiting on me was very, very nice. But as I was making my purchase, someone came in looking for a pumpkin pie (2 days before T-giving). An older employee said there are no more and won't be until tomorrow. He asked what time. She said she had no idea. So he asked if she thought it would be in the morning, or maybe by noon? She was getting short with him and said again and again she had no idea and doesn't even know if they'll be any when he comes in. She was so rude and the whole thing was awkward to witness. I felt bad for him. He was very gracious and left. She continued to be nasty about it to the other employees after he was gone. Why didn't she offer him the phone number and say to call before he drives over tomorrow? Or better yet, tell him he can pre-pay and there will be one waiting. If she's an employee, the owner would probably be mortified. If she's the owner, then I'm at a loss. We all have bad days, and maybe she was having one at the moment, but this guy was nothing but nice and willing to come back tomorrow. The whole encounter was really uncomfortable to watch. Maybe he'll go back and she'll be nice, but I will never return.

Yelp
Thank you very much for the great job you guys did on a surprise birthday cake for my dear stepdaughter. I requested two numbers cake sitting on fondant flowers. What a great surprise to see and taste such deliciousness. The cakes were beautiful made into a 3 and a 0. The surprise was a success. The flavors were on point with freshly made batter not too sweet and very tasty chocolate and vanilla. Thank you again Brooke for putting up with my wild request! PS. I live in Miami ;), I trusted the Yelp community to give you a chance. Glad I did!

Yelp
I love the new location and the pasties/donuts/cakes are really good. Get there early for sticky buns and croissants. I am making this a regular morning stop in the future.
google avatar

Yelp
The ABSOLUTE BEST cheesecake around!! A must try! I've had both the strawberry and plain and would recommend to anyone, you won't be disappointed
google avatar

Yelp
My co-workers are thrilled when I arrive with a box of MaryAnne's pastries or donuts. Everything is delicious. You can order anything and you won't go wrong. The woman who works behind the counter early mornings (7:30 ish) is always so inviting and pleasant. I recommend this bakery to anyone who asks for top-of-the-line baked goods.
google avatar

Kym B.

Yelp
Stopped in to pick up donuts after church. Place was super clean and the ladies were friendly. Not much of a donut selection left but it was late morning. Dinutes were good.

Kathy K.

Yelp
Love Maryanne's bakery. My "go to" bakery for everything- cakes, cupcakes, danish, turnovers etc. Always friendly and everything is fresh and delicious. Our family loves their birthday cakes. A couple years ago I had a friend visit from London and she really wanted a Gritty cake for her 50. I called Maryanne's and asked if they could help me out, placed the order on the phone, explained who Gritty was and was told the baker/decorator would make it look great even though they hadn't made one before. They did it! Not only did it look awesome but it was delicious!

Kalman S.

Yelp
The sticky buns are absolutely delicious, and there are three varieties. They are the perfect PA pastry!

Bill S.

Yelp
Have been a few times, and each time was somewhat disappointed. This last time, this week, the cupcakes were a bit stale. Probably a day or two old. They look nice tho. The server was quite surly and seemed annoyed that I was looking at the pastries, without telling her 'immediately' what I wanted to buy, There were no other customers in the store, but there were other workers.

Pete S.

Yelp
I went in to order a cake for my wife's birthday. They said they had the one I wanted in the cabinet or I could order a fresh one. I came back two days later and picked up what I expected to be a fresh cake. What I got was the stale one from the cabinet. Terrible, dry , flavorless. We won't be back.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Great pastries and donuts here. Was pleasantly surprised they are keeping up with inventory during the pandemic and they also have curbside available if you don't want to do into the store.

Yelp
Best treats in doylestown. This place has amazing cakes and deserts I'm surprise I didn't eat everything in the shop the time I was there . The staff are very friendly and greet you right at the door . The ask what would you like . They gave from cakes to donuts to coffe to brownies . Everying looks too good to eat . There prices are just right and a very friendly environment too . I would highly recommend going here for breakfast or any discuss occasions

Yelp
I walked into those store based on reviews on both yelp and google. I wanted to grab a strawberry shortcake to surprise my sister for her b'day. I choose the cake and the hostess mentioned that she would replace the strawberry toppings since they had faded a bit. I checked with her if the cake was aged and she denied it. She justified the fruits had withered due to the weather (it was summer then) and that the cake was still fresh and good to go... I was pleasantly surprised she decided to replace the strawberries on her own and left the story with a happy smile. Later, when the cake was cut, we realised it was a very old cake and tasted horrible. There were around 10 of us, but we all decided to share on the one cut slice. The rest of the cake was dumped..IT WAS THE WORST CAKE i ever had. Had the hostess mentioned that that cake was old at the time of the purchase, I would have gladly bought another one.. This is no way to trick your customers. Disappointed... :( :(

Yelp
I'm a little suprised and disappointed with the birthday cake we got here last weekend. You couldn't tell where the cake ended and the frosting began. It's was kind of yucky actually. Kind of one big mush. But it was pretty! Maybe they were rushed with the holiday weekend, but I won't try again.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
I grew up working here so I am a little skewed with my review but bottom line, this is a family-run bakery and you feel good above all else that you are supporting a local business. The sticky buns are glorious. I love mine with nuts and raisins. Get there early while they are still nice and warm and the store gals will cut you off a trio. Their powdered cream donuts are arguably the best ever. Don't believe me? Try for yourself. For the more adult palette, try the almond horns dipped in chocolate at the tips. Chewy, dense almond flavor. Mmm. Also an early sell-out every day are the boxes of mini Danish...what better way to sample all the flavors? Lastly, birthday cakes are stocked in case and also made to order. I say go with the pound cake and vanilla buttercream icing. Their classic combo and, in my opinion, what they do best. Around the holidays, lines are out the door, so be patient, embrace the festive chaos and give a big smile to the girl covered in powdered sugar behind the counter...chances are she has been up since 3 AM boxing YOUR cream puffs. :)

Yelp
I like this pastry shop. My coworker is always buying pastries and bringing them into work and we love them. Nice and flaky, not overly sweet. For my grandmothers birthday I bought about a pound of assorted cookies, they were all delicious. Especially the Linzer Tart. Also bought a jelly filled doughnut, wow that was great. Ont he other hand, I can see how items can end up getting a little stale since it is possible they could have been sitting on the shelf for an unknown amount of time, however I have not run into any items like this yet. We will continue to buy and eat pastries and cookies from Maryanne's Pastry

Bee C.

Yelp
A must have every Saturday and Sunday morning. Service is polite and pleasant. Nothing more needs to be said, it's just a really good donut and pastry place!

April H.

Yelp
Best bakery in the area. I have ordered numerous cakes from Maryanne's and they never disappoint. They taste just as good as they look! Great variety of goodies in store as well and the staff is always so friendly.

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
Just picked up a butter cake (ordered it yesterday) and was super excited as I haven't had one in over a year. This cake was VERY dry, which for a butter cake is very unusual. Not sure if they changed the recipe or if it was just over baked (it didn't look over baked though) but it also didn't even taste the same. Their butter cake used to be runny or "gooey" once you cut the first piece and this one had nothing under the crackly top (which was also thicker than it used to be). The base layer was also different. Maryanne's used to be my favorite but this was not worth the calories for something just meh. Also about a month ago I picked up butter cookies and a really pretty decorated chocolate chip pound cake. The cookies were stale and the pound cake was so dry! No amount of frosting flowers on the top could fix that. Disappointing. Maryanne's used to be my go to, now I'll have to drive the extra distance to Bredenbeck's.

Murph L.

Yelp
Although I cannot speak on taste, since I had the cake and cupcakes delivered to my daughter at DelVal, I can speak on Maryanne Pastry Shoppe's communication and service. I had left a message earlier in the week about needing a cake and 3 dozen cupcakes delivered for my daughter's birthday, and the telephone response was quick! The girl / woman I spoke with on the other end of the phone was very informative and nice. I sent a photo of the desired cake to the shop and the next day, the cake "designer" called me back to let me know that all will be fine for a Friday delivery! Price for 3 dozen cupcakes, an 8' cake and delivery was very affordable! Today, the delivery was made! My daughter received the goodies and sent me a few photos. She LOVES the cake! The cake is adorable, just as cute as the photo I sent! I cannot say enough about the prompt response and communication I experienced! The service was great! I will use Maryanne Pastry Shoppe again, and would definitely recommend their services to anyone looking for a pleasant transaction!

Russell L.

Yelp
Excellent quality baked goods. I had the sticky bun, the almond bar, and a jalapeño breakfast tart. I wish they would ship as I live 200 miles away. Great place.
google avatar

Seymore D.

Yelp
Best Pastries in Doylestown, I love the Almond Horns and the Cronuts. The girl with the robot tattoo is super nice too!
google avatar

South D.

Yelp
Cookies were good! Expensive though! I guess it depends on your propensity for "homemade" goodies versus commercial / processed grocery store cookies. These were definitely baked with care. I got a 1lb variety box of cookies and it cost $18. A 1lb box holds a good amount of cookies. I'd say if you are headed to a friends house for a dinner party and you are thinking of grabbing a bottle of wine to bring, instead grab a box of these sweet treats as a nice dessert for the party! Staff was relatively friendly.
google avatar

Erin D.

Yelp
Delicious baked goods...my passion and vice! Every time I go the shelves are filled with yummy, sugary, sweet goodness. Fabulous, moist cakes, cinnamon rolls, yeasty doughnuts, and cookies. The customer service is super friendly and helpful! I always order my cakes here. Only qualm is that the hot chocolate machine wasn't working and spitting out just plain hot water. Otherwise this place is just perfect! Wonderful pound cake too! :) :)

John D.

Yelp
By far the best cake I've ever had in my life! Get the chocolate cake with butter cream icing. So delicately smooth. Not too sweet. Cake was moist, and melts in your mouth. Amazing.

Chenz S.

Yelp
So wanted to love the baked goods but they all were bland and boring. Worst elephant ear ever, dry brownie, etc. I think all the things we had were made days ago (we visited on a Sunday around noon). Why can't American bakeries make things like those in Europe? We won't be back. Honestly, Tabora Farms is far better.

Christina P.

Yelp
Bought $40 worth of cupcakes/baked goods today to bring into a brand new clients office and I am SO disappointed and frankly embarrassed I served these to my customers. The high-hat cupcakes were clearly days old and as dry as a saltine. I called the store shortly after I discovered the poor quality of the product and advised them to pull them from the shelves as they were inedible. I wasn't offered anything other than an apology and the excuse "I don't know how old they are, I wasn't working this morning". Crossroads Bake Shop will be getting all of my business moving forward.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
I was looking for a chocolate chip cookie and I decided to go here because my usual bakery was closed. I went in and saw there were no chocolate chip cookies at 12:00pm which is ridiculous. I decided to buy a few sugar cookies that looked appetizing; I was wrong. When I bit into the cookies, it was dry and had no flavor. I won't go here for cookies ever again! Huge disappointment.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
The best donuts! How could this pastry shop NOT have been reviewed already? Is it a well-kept secret?
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
I really like this bakery! Everyone who works there is very friendly, I think the price is good too. I bought some cookies from this bakery for a gift, I think it went over well and I will go back. I tried an almond horn and another pastry, it was delicious! I highly recommend this pastry shop, it's great!
google avatar

Meg C.

Yelp
I can't believe people pick Starbucks over this place right across the street! I stopped in for sticky buns for my Grandmom and ended leaving with them, a baked treat for myself and a hot coffee for under 4 bucks. I was helped by a lovely woman (who i think is the owner herself, it was early and i was half awake) and she was friendly and helpful. And...everything i bought was delicious! So fresh and amazing! Never buying baked goods from a grocery store again.

Chris A.

Yelp
I went to the bakery this afternoon to pick up a few treats for a friend. Fortunately I only bought half a pound of an assortment of cookies - sugar cookies, Heath chip cookies, and a large flower. I was extremely disappointed and threw the cookies out after sampling them because they legitimately tasted like cardboard with sugar on top. I've been to this establishment in the past and it was decent, but maybe something has changed or something was wrong today? I hope the bakery addresses the possible recipe error or revamps the quality of its cookies because something was seriously wrong today!

C. C.

Yelp
Wow! We had the pleasure of visiting this bakery and my goodness, it was amazing! The donuts were out of this world! It was so nice to be able to pop into a bakery on a Sunday morning and grab some goodies for the family. Delicious! We will definitely go back again.

Jess G.

Yelp
The best brownies and donuts hands down. Cakes and pastries are phenomenal! We always get strawberry shortcakes, and the strawberries are always fresh and the cake is so fluffy! One of the best bakeries in Doylestown
google avatar

Brian J.

Yelp
Fantastic service, super-nice people, good prices, and an awesome assortment of very well-made cookies, pies, and to-die-for sticky buns.
google avatar

Maggie O.

Yelp
This is a family-run, local small business that Doylestown should be proud to have. They have delicious, fresh baked goods and it's an inexpensive real treat. And it's a friendly, family atmosphere.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Their donuts are to die for! We have been in for cupcakes and cakes for events and everyone is a fan. I keep trying to quit those donuts though but then we are back every weekend for a few. We are fans! But bring cash!
