Stopped in while in the area. The staff were great and they have a good selection of breakfast and lunch. I had the chicken salad sandwich. It was good, but not the best I’ve had. I loved the bread they used though! I would go back and try the waffles.

Google
Old school Austin vibe just down the hill from St Davids. Nice interesting group of diners, staff is young friendly and personally invested in accommodating customers and building clientele- - food is of the bagels and hot wraps. No table service. No frills. School cafeteria furnishings Good coffee. No blueberry pie :( Great warm friendly atmosphere (which is good because it is cozy)

Google
Loved this little place ! Definitely will go again when returning to Austin. Waffles are great and loved the decorations. Everyone was friendly. Plus : saw the fresh products they were using to make the food.

Google
The tofu wrap was tasty but a little pricey for what you get. The guys working were friendly and fast. Wouldn’t be some place I’d want to hang out at but good for takeout lunch.

Google
I was looking for a quick bight and a good cup of coffee while my husband was having a procedure done at St David’s. It was a nice short and shaded walk. I was so pleased to see they make breakfast bowls and holy smokes it was AMAZING. The coffee was perfect as well! I will definitely go back when I am in the area. They were very nice and super fast!

Google
Waffles are simply heavenly—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and loaded with delicious toppings. The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. A must-visit spot for brunch lovers!

Google
The waffles were DELICIOUS, the coffee is amazing and the place is so cute. We loved it!

Small dark and delicious. Good coffee and even better food. The egg sandwich was probably the best I've ever had.

Yelp
Hits the spot for a quick lunch that won't have you in a food coma. I came here with a coworker during winter break for a catch up lunch. I know seating is normally limited but it was pretty quiet since it was right after the holidays. I loved my lox bagel and it was filling but light at the same time. I am normally not much of a waffle gal but this one hit the spot. Not too sweet or gigantic. A dessert you can feel really good about for sure. I'll be back again soon.

Yelp
These waffles were packed with blueberries and served with cream cheese frosting and house-made granola. I really enjoyed it. The cream cheese frosting was pretty thick which I liked because I was able to get a little in every bite. The granola made me feel healthy so I convinced myself that this waffle was equivalent to eating a kale salad. do what you gotta do to feel good. ‍

Yelp
We walked in at 11:45am on a Wednesday and there were open tables! They have like maybe five tables and bar seating so you never know coming around noon. Plus UT Austin wasn't having classes yet so that might be why we were lucky. We ordered off the menu and our food came in about ten minutes. My BAT bagel was delicious. You can't go wrong with egg, bacon, avocado and cheese! I picked the jalapeño cheddar bagel and it was toasted perfectly and it hit the spot. There were other bagels to choose from. The bagel sandwich also came with a very small pile of chips which I wasn't expecting but nice. Then we shared the blueberry cream cheese waffle and it was a perfect blend of blueberry, granola and waffle crisp! I highly recommend sharing dessert. Last but not least, I had a hot chai with oat milk which warned me up that chilly day. While we were there, there were lots of folks picking up to-go orders so I might just order ahead next time and eat on campus.

Yelp
My family of 4 came here on vacation in 2021 to try their famous waffles. It is tiny - the counter where you order and 2 tables a few feet away. We were not wearing masks. One of the workers confrontationally told us we had to put on masks. Fine - I went to the car to get one. While I was away they remind my wife again (aggressively) as she is pulling one out of her purse. Why the theater and terrible customer service just to sit down moments later and take off our masks. Looking back, they were the ultimate gullible coward maskholes!

Yelp
Absolutely glorious, the service is amazing they even have a painted unicorn mural. Best coffee I've had in Austin.

Yelp
Great lattes and excellent waffles!!! My family of three went here for breakfast and it was great. We had the berry waffle, bacon banana waffle and Carmel iced latte, a hot latte and a berry smoothie. I highly recommend the food was great and the staff were also very polite!
google avatar

Lam K.

Yelp
It's been years since we've been back and we used to love it but now very disappointing. There's no crisp nor caramelized coating as advertised, the waffle itself is something we can make in regular American waffle makers. For $5 a piece like that is extremely overpriced when it's no longer "Belgium" or "Liege."
google avatar

Yelp
What a cute little cafe! We found Mary's Cafe on our way to a guitar shop nearby and decided to try it. My husband and I ordered the Local Toast, the B.A.T Bagel, and split an Apple Pie Waffle because it sounded so good and who doesn't love apple pies or waffles. The food is wholesome and fresh. Everything was delicious, but that Apple Pie Waffle is AH-MA-ZING!!! The staff is really nice and friendly. I highly recommend to try this place if you're up for a quick tasty bite.

Yelp
A cute austin staple that I would definitely recommend! I've been here a few times and have enjoyed every experience. The waffles are definitely their specialty. They're about the size of your hand, super soft and fluffy and you're able to customize your toppings. As for the breakfast items, they're yummy but not all that filling, so if you eat a lot (like me and my friend) you might want to get an extra something to split. The place itself is pretty small so hopefully you catch them when they're not too busy so you can get a booth. The music was a little loud but doesn't take away too much from the overall experience.

Joon H.

Yelp
The BAT bagel was delicious! and they have mexican coke! the workers are diligent and always doing something.
google avatar

Yelp
Simple, no-frills breakfast spot with quality food. The BAT bagel sandwich and the Rittenhouse salad were fantastic. Really friendly staff. It's a TINY little spot so recommend ordering for takeout or just being prepared to wait for a table during busy times.

Yelp
STEPH JUDGEMENT: An adorable little cafe great for breakfast! On our way out of Austin the hubby and I were looking for a place to grab breakfast and this place came up with really high marks on Yelp. Located in a nondescript strip mall, it stood out with its giant pink Mary's sign, and what a little gem it is. It's small but cute and clean, and we loved the decor with the wall of Marys! It's a very LGBTQ-friendly place, also, which we thought was great. The hubby got the vegan egg breakfast combo (they were out of vegan sausage which was a bummer) and I got their croissant breakfast sandwich--both were excellent, and their coffee was also great. Yelp didn't steer us wrong; if you're looking for a cool little breakfast spot, give this place a look.

Yelp
Great customer service. I was sitting inside having a great bagel and coffee while waiting for daughter to get out of her doctor's appointment. One of the worker's noticed my car had been rear ended in the parking lot and called it to my attention. We got the driver's attention and made him stop. No damage to my car but yes to the offender's car. His excuse was that he got hit last time and no one stopped. Thank you Mary's cafe for looking out for your customers.

Yelp
What a find! A friend had heard great things about Mary's and suggested we meet there for breakfast meeting. Greeted promptly upon entering, friendly and interactive staff. They have a good menu, albeit there are not a ton of choices, but still enough to have some good choices. I went with a breakfast bowl, which consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage and other goodies on a bed of spinach. The food was outstanding. My latte was fantastic. The coffee itself was full of flavor and the beans appeared to be roasted to perfection. The price was average in our current economy. It is a small place and seating is limited. The parking lot is cramped, but we were both able to find a spot without a problem. However, when full, it could be challenging to navigate if you have a full size truck or SUV. Overall, great spot and I look forward to visiting again when I am back in the area.

Yelp
B.a.t bagel was soo delicious !! Would definitely come back to try the waffles, bagel was so fulfilling I couldn't fit anything else. Service was great and the tiny place was cozy and cute. Good amount of seating considering how tiny it was and with outside seating as well.

Yelp
Small cafe with delicious food and friendly staff! Items we had Mary j blueberry waffle - Some of the best flavored waffle batter I have head. Super dense but soft. Hidden gems of baked in blueberries with delicious lightly sweetened cream cheese "frosting" spread. Was skeptical about the granola but it added a really nice crunch. I am typically a waffle, blueberry and syrup guy, but these added items and the flavor of the waffle was really tasty Build your own bagel - scrambled egg, bacon, and cream cheese (instead of cheese) on everything bagel. It was very delicious and would put it up against a lot of the other bagel sandwiches in the city. The bagel is from another company so not freshly made, but still extremely good Pumpkin spice latte - wife had this and said it was one of the best PSLs she has ever had. The ONLY thing about this place is that it was quite Smokey in there and they need ventilation... Will definitely go back and would definitely recommend this place Note: there was a decent line, so make sure you get there a little early before you need to eat just in case

Yelp
Good breakfast place! Their waffles are must try, so delicious with lots of toppings available. Chicken salad sandwich is good but needs some salt. Walnut and grapes are great additions to the sandwich. Service is friendly and there is lot parking. There is limited seating inside. Come check it out if you are in the neighborhood and looking for a breakfast/snack option

Yelp
Tasty hidden gem. Super cheap eats but big on flavors. Really chill spot. Sandwiches & Wraps: B.A.T. Bagel - 5/5 Liege Waffles: Mary Had a Little Ham - 4/5 The bagel is super fresh and chewy. Really well done. The eggs, avocado, cheese, and mayo meld together for an amazing sandwich. It's a must order. The waffle was a little dry, and had a ton of peanut butter...maybe a little too much. But tasty flavors nonetheless. Super chill environment. Great spot.

Yelp
Tip: Took the advice from the person helping me with my order, added vanilla to my matcha and used skim milk (I'm allergic to most milk alternatives) and it's a fantastic matcha. Quick, filling, and delicious option for breakfast/brunch. The people here are kind and personable. I've been craving waffles and this cinnamon waffle with chocolate drizzle really hit the spot. The waffle itself is the right amount of not too dense and not too bready. Held the chocolate drizzle without turning to mush.
google avatar

Sasa P.

Yelp
Stellar waffle - like I'm talking crispy caramelized sugar edges, delicious fluffy dough, and tasty toppings. Left nothing to be desired, except seconds. The cream cheese lox bagel was also pretty tasty (not up to par with my East coast bagel standards, but for Austin it was excellent). Friendly staff too! Keep in mind: This place is a small hole in the wall with difficulty seating parties larger than 2-4.

Yelp
Lovely place with delicious fresh food, smoothies and coffee. The vibes are super cute.

Yelp
Visiting Austin for the first time and we are definitely a foodie family! My Sonshine found this cute, amazing breakfast spot 3 minutes from our hotel. We went in and the vibe was so great! Love supporting local business! We ordered a plain bagel with cheese, egg, cheese and avocado sandwich and the berry Tyler Moore waffle. I was confused I thought it was a specialty coffee so I ordered a seasonal waffle but I thought it was a coffee lol We got our food so when the extra waffle showed up I laughed at myself so hard! I told the cool guy and he laughed too and was so sweet, he created the coffee as best he could with the same flavors of the waffle. Amazing and the coffee was DELISH! All of our food was amazing! Thank you for doing that, definitely super kind! We will definitely return!

Yelp
Great little cafe serving delicious breakfast bowls! The waffles looked great as well, but we didn't have a chance to try.

Yelp
Small place with big flavor. The staff works hard. We went on a Monday. Two people were working and they were still able to get food and drinks out fast. We all ordered something different and were all satisfied. I had the egg, cheese and avocado croissant and iced matcha latte. My sandwich was buttered to perfection. They weren't skimpy with the avocado either. The matcha latte wasn't too sweet. You could definitely enjoy the matcha flavor. You can specify which milk you would like. The restaurant is small with limited seating. They do have a few seats outside. Parking is available on site, but shared with the other businesses

Zac Z.

Yelp
Good food, good coffee. Pretty small inside but not super crowded on weekdays. Pretty pricy.
google avatar

Dione K.

Yelp
I completely understand when a place is busy and I'm happy to wait for fresh food. However, the reason for this low rating is the amount of time it took to make two cappuccinos. My food order was ready and sitting on the counter but I couldn't leave until the two cappuccinos in my order were ready. A lot of folks who came in after me left with their coffees while I was waiting for mine. The food was still tasty when I finally got it home (albeit a little cold). TL;DR: Great food. Pick-up experience with coffee orders could be improved.

Yelp
Delicious bagel and coffee shop. My friend and I ordered: *Migas Wrap (Delicious, the corn chips inside the wrap were super yummy) *B.A.T. Bagel (Absolutely delicious, they put a sauce on it that is to die for) *Kay Smoothie (So delicious and refreshing!) *Olsen Smoothie (So delicious, creamy and smooth) The decorations of this place were so fun to look at since they're all based on someone named Mary. The servers are so nice! Please be patient when you come, since they are understaffed. If you want delicious food, this is the place to go to!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent and Friendly service! They made us feel welcomed and right at home. The bagel sandwiches were fantastic and the iced vanilla latte was on point. Wish we lived near here we would be by every morning!

Yelp
The food and service are great. I highly recommend the breakfast wraps. The ambiance of this place reminds me of a mini version of the old (Burnet Rd location) Omelettry. Homegrown with delicious standards.
google avatar

Yelp
Yum! I had to fast for lab work so after I treated myself to a breakfast and coffee. Specifically the BAT bagel on a plain bagel (there were a few options) and a Red Eye coffee. Which is a drip coffee with two shots of espresso. My only qualm was the creamer option but I spoil myself with flavored creamer at home. Otherwise, I'll be back to try more breakfast options. Plus: they remembered my name when I was leaving and I don't have a common name so I appreciated that extra touch of CS.
google avatar

Kate Z.

Yelp
Small cafe with limited indoor seating and a few outdoor benches. They made quick service and fresh ingredients, so overall a pretty decent place. I'll be back if I need a caffeine pick-up or quick bite of lunch. They have parking in front.

Yelp
Total gem. One of our favorite breakfast spots in ATX. Menu is limited but everything is excellent. Had waffles and breakfast bowls and we all enjoyed. Will definitely be back. Lunch menu looked good and will try.

Yelp
Visited Mary's this morning and can't believe we hadn't discovered it sooner. The BEST brunch and the cutest decor. We had the B.A.T. Bagel sandwich (Fried egg, Monterey Jack, bacon, avocado, tomato and mayo on toasted bagel and the Red River Wrap (Scrambled eggs, Monterey Jack, avocado, diced tomato, bacon, and pork sausage served on a toasted whole wheat wrap.) I haven't stopped talking about it since we left and devoured it so quickly I forgot to take pics but I did capture a picture of my iced caramel latte.

Yelp
Love this spot! The food, seemingly simple, is always delicious and packed with flavor (also cheap). Prime location by campus and never too busy if you go at the right times. Service has always been super nice and friendly! Love the atmosphere! Great location for a quick breakfast/brunch bite with coffee!

Lillian C.

Yelp
Super cute place, food was amazing. Matcha tea was the best tea i've literally ever had. They also have Poke stops

Yelp
I wrote my original review in 2015 on a very emotional day with my mother after a difficult doctor's appointment. I truly embrace the memory of that day. The owner was very kind to us. I came here today since I has business in the neighborhood. Struck up a conversation with the very nice person at the counter. She shared that her mom and I share the same name so I shared with her about my visit with my mom in 2015. She offered my a free drink or pastry in honor of my mom's memory. Such a wonderful, caring sentiment. Heart warming. The Mediterranean wrap was just delectable. Thank you so making my day.

Yelp
Came two days in a row before 2pm and Mary's was closed early both times. Not worth. Taking this off my bookmarks.

Yelp
Very cute, quaint breakfast and lunch eatery located in the heart of the Universityof Texas campus. It's not very fancy, but was just perfect to meet our morning hunger pains. When we arrived, there were only a handful of people, but by the time we got our food, the whole dining area was filled, inside and out. Guess class had just let out. So, on a Thursday, go before 10:30 in the morning. The menu wasn't very extensive. The were several waffle dishes to choose from and several breakfast sandwich choices. Both groups allowed you to make your own well. I had the Mary Had a Little Ham waffle dish. Don't know if I was just hungry or if the combination of bacon, bananas and peanut butter ignited my taste buds. I devoured it! My husband had the Mary Street waffle. It had chocolate and cinnamon toppings. We also got a breakfast sandwich to go for lunch. I was able to get $1 off from a Yelp check in. Thanks to Yelp we were able to find a great place to eat in an town that was unfamiliar to us!

Yelp
This is a fast food breakfast place. Small, fun, great food, long line that moves fast, friendly staff. If I lived here I'd do my breakfast take out, and often.

Yelp
My mother was next door at St. David's Hospital getting a surgical procedure on her back (6 fractures, mind you) on top of her S4 cancer she's fighting, so I wanted to get my mind off things and wandered around the area. Then, I found Mary's Cafe. Here's my review: PROS - Michael + Chris - COVID-friendly + smart - Smells like mom's kitchen (love) - Parking is convenient - Food + coffee are amazing - Walking distance from St. David's Hospital - BFAST for Lunch! LOVE IT! - Small tables outside to eat on - Discounts for students! - Discounts for medical workers! CONS - Smelled like breakfast, but it was heavenly after! LOL - Hours are limited, so check the times What I Got Both Days: - SF Vanilla Soy Latte - Red River Wrap #ThatWrapTho - seriously. Perfectly crisp on the outside, and the insides were hot! They didn't skimp out on the filling either, so it was scrumptious with every bite. What made it even better was the customer service from Michael + Chris. To the owner, great job hiring them both. They treated me with kindness, gave me space + wished my mother a speedy recovery, and made me some amazing food/drinks. The coffee was also perfect for sugar-free. I expected that fake taste from Starbucks, haha, but it tasted delicious. Hit the spot, and I will have to try the rest of the menu here because it was freaking excellent. Again, the customer service to the walking distance made this a no-brainer and prompted me to review it. Sitting at the bar on both days, people watching, and getting my mind off things was a nice getaway. I particularly loved the sign placed near the front that stated that they welcome all walks of life; it doesn't matter your skin color to your sexual preference; we're all human beings. With the hate + racism in the US today causing a pernicious divorce in our communities, it's nice to know there are kind people in the world at Mary's Cafe. I will be back because of the kindness Michael + Chris showed me. Oh yea, the food was pretty marvelous, too ;).

Yelp
Staff is quite unwelcoming and rude, and stuff is frequently missing in the orders. Wish they were a bit friendlier and ontop of things!
google avatar

Yelp
A little small cute local cafe with an amazing staff. Me and my sister came to visit Austin and it was her first time and the staff not only helped us with the menu but also places to site see locally! She loved their tofu wrap, she raved about it all day! I got the honey mustard chicken wrap and it was sooo yummy. It's toasted which I loved and everything tasted so fresh. It's made to order which also added to its freshness. Also loved the little tables out front.

Yelp
Mary's Cafe will always be my favorite hole-in-the-wall. We discovered this cute cafe while dog sitting down the road and it instantly became my favorite chill spot the breakfast sammie is amazing and a Sunday ritual for me and my wife.

Yelp
Had to go out of my way for Mary's was out for SXSW. But I always find a way to find the best Breakfast Spots and this one is a don't miss. Felt at home as both the Owner and Manager is from the East Coast. Good Bagels and Waffles but great People love the VIBE And loved the food! Be prepare to wait but it's worth it !

Yelp
Terrific breakfast spot. We were in Austin for 4 days and are here for 3 of them. The other day we made a mistake and tried something else Everything was high quality including the red River Bowl and the waffles.

Yelp
I have passed this place several times and looked up the menu and thought it looked ok. I stopped in today today to check it out. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised that is was very busy. I love to see small local business hopping like this. I ended up getting the croissant breakfast sandwich. And OJ and it was a big OJ not one of these small cups for 8.00. The food came out fast and good. It seems like they are known for their waffles. But I don't really eat waffles. But I may have to try one next time. You walk in and you feel a very relaxed place. You can tell it is a GLBTQ owned business with all the Mary and pictures on the wall of women named Mary. And I understand that this place is dedicated to the owners mom Mary. If I had one thing to say to the owner is that it is a little off putting to see the gal at the counter taking the orders sitting on a stool and having her leg up on the counter. And she was like that most the time I was there. She even had her foot on the counter at one point. That's kinda weird never seen that in an restaurant. But that is no way in any reflection to the food or the place. I for sure will be back and telling my friends.

Yelp
Stopped by here on a whim and was completely blown away by how delicious and awesome this place was. I can't have caffeine, so I'm used to servers rolling their eyes when I ask for decaf options, but the cashier here was super sweet and thoughtful and offered me to try the chai since they didn't have decaf. It was deeeelicious. We also had the breakfast croissant sandwiches and they were so good, toasted & crispy, lots of flavor, and not crazy priced. So sweet of them to include a few slices of watermelon. My husband also tried a waffle and cookie, both he said were very good. We will be back!

Yelp
You know, considering how the partying the night before went, any plans or cravings that we might have had for our final meal in Austin went out the proverbial window almost as soon as we woke up. Forget finding a popular brunch spot to check out or getting something light and fresh to start our day (definitely wasn't an acai bowl or green smoothie kind of morning...). Rather, all we wanted was something close by, relatively quick, and filling to cure our hangovers. One of the top results near our Airbnb? Mary's Cafe! Which, from the looks of their photos on Yelp, seemed like it was the perfect fit for us in nearly every way possible! Now, I have to say - while I didn't really have an image in my head of how this place looked, I was still kind of surprised by how small it is. At the same time though, that only added to how quint and cozy it felt. Even more so, I loved how there wasn't a single person ahead of us when we walked in. Not only because that meant we'd get our food that much faster, but also because no one was there to watch me wave all of my friends past me as I tried to figure out what to get. The menu may seem fairly simple (breakfast sandwiches, waffles, salads, sandwiches, and wraps), but almost everything on it sounded delicious! After going back and forth between nearly a half dozen things (including their waffles, which seem to be one of their signature offerings), I finally settled on getting their FRAT BOY BAGEL. Served with a Scrambled Egg, Sausage, Colby Jack, and Avocado on a Jalapeno Cheddar bagel, this was just what my morning needed. The eggs were fine, but I liked how juicy the sausage was and how they were so generous with the avocado (which was super fresh, I might add). What's more, I loved the bagel; Jalapeno & Cheddar isn't super common in the Bay Area, but I wish it was after having this one. Plus, it was toasted up perfectly! In the interest of being transparent though, I should probably note that it took me a little while to finally get this done. During that time, it looks as though the menu has been updated since my visit here. From the looks of their menu online, their range of offerings is mostly the same (they've added breakfast bowls), but the depth of options has been reduced (many of their paninis and breakfast sandwiches are gone, including the Frat Boy Bagel). Not sure if this is only due to COVID-19 or not, but even if it's not, Mary's Cafe still has a ton of enticing alternatives to choose from! Thanks, Mary's Cafe, for a wonderful breakfast to send us on our way back home! Too bad I can't say the same for the actual flight itself...ugh.

Yelp
So I had been craving a waffle but don't have a waffle maker at home, so decided to give Mary's a try after searching on Yelp and coming across them and their Mary J Blueberry sold me. Mind you this was during COVID-19 time, so take out was my only option. So I called and placed my order and when they said it'd be ready in 10 minutes but I knew it would take me longer to get there, he told me he'd make it fresh when I pulled up. So I thought that was awesome that he was willing to throw that bit of customer service in there. The waffle was so good, and all the toppings of the homemade cream cheese frosting and granola added a little crunchiness to it all. I would definitely go back to check out either some other waffles or breakfast items from their menu if I'm in the area. Should probably be noted that it's not really a spot you go for breakfast to dine in. It was very dimly lit and I don't recall seeing any tables around. This may also be due to them not having that option currently.

Staff are VERY friendly, even during the rush. Americano and Lattes are on point!! I ordered the Mary McMuffin and berry waffle to go. Packaged well. Quick service. Now about the taste- bfast sandwich was great. I had it w the Turkey sausage and they use a good Turkey sausage w flavor!! The cheese is melts and gooey like you expect, good seasoning in the egg. Now this waffle!! OMG it's sooo good. I don't think I can order a Belgium waffle anywhere else!! Mary has ruined me or enlightened me as to what a real Belgium waffle should taste like. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. You can taste the touch of vanilla and the slight sweetness The berries are fresh and perfect portion so you have enough berries w each bite. If you are in the area, or not, this place is def worth a visit!! You won't be disappointed. They serve lunch too!!
