I ordered the nachos with sweet heat pork, and they were so good. The chips were home made and the highlight of the evening. My partner ordered a burger, and he said it was good. The giant cinnamon roll was huge!!! A little dry though.

Google
Had a the delicious Wrangler Burger and Fries for a late lunch here, yesterday. Read through a bunch of reviews this morning before writing mine. I noticed a significant number of reviews from people with only 1-2 reviews, and place no emphasis on these.. as they are usually from people with a vendetta ! The review from Ryan Sutherland, the truck driver with issues because he was not allowed to overnight with his Semi-Truck in their parking lot. (no one owes you Free accommodations Ryan). <><> I could see that the common denominator of most of the reviews was SERVICE, and can agree with that summation. At 3:00 in the afternoon, Mary's Cafe not busy, and even though there were 3-4 young ladies working, it took several minutes before one of them greeted me with a menu. +++ I did get a chuckle when she asked me what I'd like to drink, and I asked her if I was far South enough to get "Sweet Tea". She said sure, then a moment later, held up sweetener packets and said I could make it as sweet as I wanted !! I turned her down and opted for water. <><> About twenty minuted later, my waitress brought out this Giant burger and huge order of fries ! I'd never had a burger this tall, and could not formulate a plan of attack.. so just dove in ! Pretty sure that it was the best-tasting burger that I'd ever bit into !! But the method of attack also delivered a shot of BBQ sauce into my nostrils !!! But worth the damage.. and the Fries, so good ! I'm a big fellow, but this meal could have easily fed two people. <><> back to my waitress.. after bringing out my food, she never offered to refill my water, she never asked me how the food order was... even though she and another young lady were just feet away, wrapping silverware. So.. therein supports the overall complaint of service in these reviews. If the owner were able to properly train and motivated her wait staff, it would no doubt make a huge difference in feedback! ( It was not based on merit, but knowing the struggle for low-income folks.. did tip $20 on a $19 check).

This place is a real gem. For any trucker passing by stop in for a taste. No rush service. Service with a cool smile. Good grill and home cooked selection. I recommend the brisket or the pork grilled cheese with fries. All baked goods are baked in-house so you know it’s delicious. I hope longevity and prosperity for this little spot.

We arrived 20 minutes before closing, they still gave us an amazing service, and the food was great

Google
Stopped in here while passing through for a bite to eat. We walked in and were told we could sit anywhere, which was nice. We chose a table by the window. Our waitress came to our table, and we asked how her day was, and I'm guessing she didn't hear by the lack of a response. I was craving a milkshake, but she said they were out of ice cream. The drinks were nice and cold. Our order was correct and our food came quickly. My party said their burgers were good, and fries were plentiful. The chicken tenders were pretty good as well. My only complaint would have to be the condiments. The ketchup tasted bad, as if it were old. The brown gravy tasted very bland as if it came straight out of a jar or can. The ranch was very runny as if it had been watered down or is just a cheap brand. I really loved the decor and the music was at a good level. Our meal was pretty average, and the staff were quite impersonable.

Google
Tried Mary's Cafe for the 1st time. Place was nearly empty at 8am but started to get busier as I was here. I ordered the Country Ben (biscuit, sausage gravy, sausage patties and eggs) and coffee, and it was delicious. Sierra was the only server but she had everything well under control. She asked how everything was and about coffee refills. Seats in the restaurant are not very comfortable, but for the amount time spent here it wasn't really an issue.

Google
Breakfast was DELICIOUS!! Driving by, my husband guessed this place would be good, he was right! The biscuit was the BEST, even plain. Eggs cooked perfectly. There are no pictures because we ate everything to fast, lol. If we are ever back in the Flagstaff area, we will definitely return.

Google
Got my 4-year-old the Pancake breakfast, and the Pancake was still raw with batter oozing out of it. They had maybe 3 people working, took a while to get our food out.

Yelp
The service was excellent! The food was excellent and the ambiance of food was enough for two people. We had the chicken fried steak special on three plates, hash browns, two eggs and two biscuits and gravy Price was very reasonable! Highly recommend !

Yelp
Forty years ago I used to come dancing here The food is great! I came in, friendliest waitress helped me. I got the country club I think it was called. It's the brisket and pork and F'ing Tasty! My attentive waitress said it was good and so now I know she's honest as well as a good waitress. Seriously stop and eat here. I'm in town for another week and I plan on going back! It's super clean and totally what you expect.

Yelp
Driving thru area about lunchtime and found Mary's by happy accident. The exterior looks like a tavern. Promptly greeted and seated by very friendly server. Interior had kind of a diner feel, a little worn and tired but authentic. We ordered build your own burger w fries and a BLT w Taco soup of day. Burger was good meat, very substantial and well prepared. Fries were somewhat limpy, would order different side next time, they had numerous side choices. Taco soup was kind of like spicy chili, really hearty and satisfying. BLT was also good w crispy bacon. Overall pleasantly surprised by our very good meal. Would try again if in the area. Open for breakfast too

Yelp
Mary's Cafe is awesome, they have a little bit of everything and have good size portions. You wont leave hungry! The desserts are also amazing! The staff is friendly and very welcoming, make sure to stop in and say hi to Sierra, she's my favorite.

Yelp
We love historic cafes and this one has been around for 50+ years. It was fairly quiet on an early Tuesday morning. Their servings are good size - subsequently I didn't order chicken-fried steak because it comes on three plates! I got a traditional breakfast with sausage and biscuits. Everything was tasty. The Hubbs ordered the cinnamon roll French toast with ham and eggs. Everything was good, but the French toast was mushy in the middle - which means too much egg mixture and not long enough on the grill. Good coffee, great service.

Yelp
I got "what they're known for" the chicken fried steak. It was one of the blandest meals I've ever had. The only reason they got another star was because the Navajo taco was decent. They gave themselves an automatic tip even though the service was super slow. Skip this place.

Yelp
If you are looking for a Route 66 type diner experience for a meal in Flagstaff, head to Mary's Cafe. Do not be put off by its unassuming exterior. Inside awaits excellent, friendly efficient service and even better food! Generous, delicious portions!

Yelp
Cute cafe! We visited Mary's Cafe for breakfast on a Wednesday morning, and it was mostly empty. A mix of country music and classic rock provided the acoustic backdrop to our visit. The space is filled with wooden seats and accents with white laminated tables. I tried the huevos rancheros. The huevos rancheros were standard except for the salsa which was particularly delicious. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Mary's Cafe and would recommend them for breakfast.

Yelp
Sunday night dinner at Mary's Cafe with three of us who had different options on the menu. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was in large portions. The chicken fried steak dinner was terrific, as was the Southwest chicken melt and buffalo chicken sandwich.

Jon K.

Yelp
This place is a time capsule for anybody who has seen the movie Two Lane Blacktop with James Taylor from circa 1971. The booth that they sat in is still there and has markings from the movie scene being filmed there. On top of everything else, the food is simply amazing !!!

Yelp
Great little restaurant for breakfast, just don't come by yourself. The restaurant was lovely, very quaint and well decorated. It opens super early and the waitress was super friendly and attentive. Food is your typical American breakfast: I chose the highly rated cinnamon french toast which hit all the right notes and definitely left an impression. Served along with hash browns, your choice of egg and bacon/sausage/ham (I chose bacon). The taste of the food was great, but the portion highlighted why USA got so much health problems. Better come here with your significant other or one of your friend and share the food. Tip and tax all came out to be ~$27 (added an orange juice cup), so probably not a place you can enjoy daily.

Yelp
When traveling, we like to use yelp to local businesses. Mary's Café looked interesting, and we stopped in for lunch after returning from Sunset Crater and Wupatki (two must see National Monument parks!). The atmosphere is very homey with pine board paneling. The entire staff is very friendly. Amanda was our server and Sierra helped too. Extremely friendly and they checked in on us regularly. Anything we needed they got it immediately. I ordered the Cobb Salad and it was HUGH. The roast beef is the kind one would expect on a French Dip. My wife ordered chicken quesadillas and we ended up taking a third of her meal home the serving size was that March. I could not finish all of my salad either. We were both very satisfied with the taste of our meals. We live in Phoenix but when we return to the Flagstaff area, we would definitely like to go to Mary's Café again.

Yelp
I so wish I could remember the name of the young lady who waited on us as she was absolutely adorable and very accommodating. We sat out in the sunshine on the back patio and had the most wonderful ribs. It's easy to pass this place as it's very non-descriptive But trust me, it is well worth a visit.

Yelp
Hailey was amazing waitress ! Love d the Chicken Fried Steak. Service was the best and food was even better ! The apple pie didn't stand a chance amazing service and food. Cute and legendary place

Yelp
Great roadside cafe that is clean, friendly, and generous with portions. Scratch cooking like grandma used to make. Chicken fried steak that is fresh, not frozen. homemade pies and soups. And don't forget a cinnamon roll for the road. Mary's proves there are still establishments that take pride in their food and service.

Josh S.

Yelp
Phone number does not work!! Please fix or update!! I just want to call in a order for takeout just keeps ringing like it's busy.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service. Try the brisket! It's as close to Tx as you'll find in Flag Sierra was excellent, and so personable.
google avatar

Yelp
Mary's cafe has great food, reasonable prices, decent service, and generous portion sizes. Tip: Soda refills are not complimentary My biggest complaint is the fact that it took quite a while for our food to be ready.  That said, when it came, the Wrangler Burger was exceptional :-)

Yelp
Quiet spot on an early Monday morning. We were quickly greeted and seated. Coffee came shortly after. We both had egg/meat/hash browns, although my husband added French toast. All were well cooked. Simple, well done, fresh. Good stop, even though it's not much to look at from the outside.

Yelp
Breakfast is defiantly good. The service is awesome and friendly. When passing through Flagstaff, AZ I get my morning started with a nice breakfast and coffee. The ambiance is good for singles and families. I recommend this place for sure. I haven't tried lunch, dinner or the bar. However, I'm sure they will be fine.

Tom M.

Yelp
I know I've posted enough about this place for it to get boring, but still...this little cafe is wonderful! We try to come in about every six weeks or so, and never, ever have we had a complaint! Today's visit involved the biggest dadgummed cinnamon roll I ever saw and bottomless cups of real "cowboy" coffee. You know, the kind of coffee that you ALMOST need to chew, but is still hearty and delicious. Today, Sierra and Hannah spoiled us unmercifully! I can guarantee we'll be back! When you visit, bring a huge appetite for great, authentic Northern Arizona home cooking! If you're really hungry, grab yourself a Cowboy Club sandwich. Didn't do it today, and I'm kinda sorry about that, but I'm not able to take a nap this afternoon, so I'll pass. Next time, though! Thank you, Mary's Cafe!

Yelp
Great food, great cafe atmosphere. Haylie was awesome, very friendly and conversational. Genuinely nice and provided excellent service with a smile. She was a joy to talk to and Mary's Cafe should be proud to have her as an employee.

Yelp
Great find in Flagstaff! Our server was great and the smell of this afternoon's bbq was a nice way to start our day. We ordered the cinnamon roll French toast which came with eggs, bacon (could order sausage) and hash browns. The cinnamon French toast is incredible! Light, fluffy roll turned into French toast. Eggs done well and the hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The restaurant looks small from the outside but is actually larger than it looks like. The inside is simple diner decor with a counter for singles. There is a huge area for the night time dinner and drink crowd as well as a patio area for warmer weather. Easy to spot on 89 next to the ConocoPhillips gas station. Plenty of parking for any size car, truck or RV in the rear. Our only negative comment would be no cream for our coffee... 2% doesn't cut it. I'm sure that's an easy fix!

Yelp
Big Breakfast, great food, friendly service & homestyle ambiance at Mary's Cafe. Been coming into Flagtaff for years and this was a first visit. Ordered huevos rancheros, ham & cheese omelette, biscuits & gravy. Solid choice.

Izzy G.

Yelp
Stopped by this Flagstaff favorite for breakfast and ordered the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast. Served with hash browns, eggs and bread of choice. The Chicken Fried Steak was breaded and cooked very well, but the breading could've used a little more salt. Good thing there was gray on it! Eggs were decent, hash was slightly overcooked. They biscuits and gravy was a nice bread option. Service was really good and you could tell they have a number of regulars who stop by.

Yelp
We were driving through Flagstaff on the way to Scottsdale and just spotted the diner as we drove past. I told my wife we were turning around and we were going to take a chance on a little cafe. And... we ate THE BEST pork tacos we've ever had! "Zesty Sweet Pork" they called it, with delicious coleslaw . It was so good, we came back through town the next week for more. We tried the "Sweet Heat Pork" quesadilla too, but still prefer the tacos. (Great service too!) Thanks!

Alan H.

Yelp
This is a no frills sandwich and burger shop. The server was friendly and the burgers were good. You can tell that these aren't pre-made burgers or fries. The prices were a little high for a burger though.

Donna H.

Yelp
We went to Mary's Cafe today for lunch. Our first time this year since we're back in town for the summer. They now have a smoker and offer some BBQ options along with their regular options on the menu. My original choice when we decided to go there was to get their Adult Grilled Cheese, one of my favorites. But the smell of the smoker when we arrived convinced me to try their BBQ. I ordered the BBQ Hoogie with brisket and their regular BBQ sauce (they also offer a spice Chipotle BBQ sauce) with potato salad as my side. Both were delicious. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the potato salad wasn't vinegary like a lot of restaurants serve; not quite as good as my homemade, but close. The place was clean. The decor is a little outdated, but it was light and bright inside, not dark and dingy like so many older places are. Our waitress was very friendly, and although the service was a little slow, it was not enough that we felt ignored or impatient. FYI, if you use a credit card to pay, they charge you a convenience fee; ours was $.97 Not sure if it varies by the tab total or if it's a flat fee.

Yelp
Thank you, Yelpers for steering me here! After a day in the wilds above Flagstaff, a meal like my mama would make was the ticket. I ordered the signature club. OMG! Brisket and bacon and pork on toasted bread with fixins? Hell, yes! Hubs had the BLT with a fried egg. Inspired! We shared his perfect skinny fries. We weren't done! He got the local bakery chocolate layer cake for dessert, and I got a scoop of vanilla ice cream and poured my applesauce over it. Hoooo boy! I'll cut back tomorrow! Outstanding service! Spotlessly clean. Locally-owned for 60+ years. I can see why.

Yelp
I bought 2 cheeseburgers, fries, 1 soda, and 2 pieces of cake and the bill was $50. The burgers were unseasoned and so dry that my husband gave his to a stray dog. The strawberry cake was inedible. It was apparent that the waitress took the old stale cake out of the fridge. It was cold and so dry that I spit it out. The fries were good and that's it. What a waste of time and money.

Wyly W.

Yelp
Really nice people, good food and clean even though the outside makes one feel iffy... No vegetarian as another review had said.

Ethan G.

Yelp
Mary's is always our favorite breakfast stop. The service has been good each time we have stopped. It has the small personal feel that I'm used to being from a small town. I suggest the cinnamon roll French toast or the chicken fried steak breakfast if you have someone to share either of those with. The portions won't disappoint.

Ruth M.

Yelp
Great waitress and chicken fried steak is big enough to fill two people. Will stop there every chance we get.
google avatar

Yelp
The people that work there are so nice! They have such good food. Highly recommend the breakfast burrito. Great parking for trailers.
google avatar

Lindsay H.

Yelp
We loved this local favorite. Something for everyone and my son especially loved the ranch dressing. :) Everything seemed homemade like a traditional diner...especially the chocolate cake that they cut by the slice on the counter. Yummy! We will definitely be back the next time we are in Flagstaff.
google avatar

Tammy P.

Yelp
Service was great, food was good. We were here on Easter for breakfast. 6:00 am. The volume of chatter and laughter from the kitchen staff was obnoxious. We heard (at high volume) about escapades with bong hits and fun times getting drunk during our entire meal. We won't be back.
google avatar

Kathleen Marie M.

Yelp
We've been patronizing this restaurant several times a week since we moved here 2 years ago. The hours changed this week from 5:30 to 6:30. The cook doesn't start earlier than 6:30 - we left about 6:35 since she wasn't even there yet.. Actually she should be there half an hour early to warm up the grill and get some items started. So instead , people have to wait for food while she gets started - a real inconvenience. Not only will this business lose patrons but the server is losing money. We may not be in much going forward . The early hours were more compatible with our work hours. I am very disappointed.
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
While on a road trip from Phoenix to Grand Rapids, the 5 of us randomly chose Mary's for lunch/brunch. 2 cars, 2 dogs and a trailer, even the huge parking lot was accommodating. Upon entering, the servers were each individually welcoming. This is your typical out of the way, local gem. Very unpretentious. We each had a varied version of breakfast sandwiches and each was delicious. It took a bit longer than anticipated, but relaxing at the food bar for a bit was a welcome break from the road. Don't know if I'll get back that way, but if I do, it'll be a sure bet for another stop.
google avatar

Tim G.

Yelp
Great pick after reading Yelp reviews. Nearly pulled away after seeing outside. As we all learned, don't judge a book by its cover-and Marys Cafe is no exception. Awesome food and decent prices. Walk in and check it out if you're traveling through Flagstaff.
google avatar

Dean M.

Yelp
The food was good. The coffee was burned. Only had one waitress and she was hustling. This place opened in 1961 and it looked like no updates since then.

Lynn K.

Yelp
The service was prompt, friendly and excellent. The ambiance was fine. The quality of the food was only average. The menu is wide-ranging menu but the food seemed reheated. My brisket was likely precooked and then defrosted. My husband's green beans were canned. My husband's baked beans were canned. My salad was very large and very fresh but was almost all iceberg lettuce. I am not sure how my mashed potatoes were made. I was happy to get free refills on hot cocoa and lemonade. The menu has some fun things like a boozy milkshake. The restaurant is huge. It has a dance floor and a pool table. There is a large outdoor patio in back away from the street noise. The cafe is next door to a Conoco gas station which serves as a truck stop and probably allows overnight parking for semis.
google avatar

Noe D.

Yelp
We were on our way back to Vegas and we stopped by Flagstaff for breakfast. The outside looks a little run down but I'm glad we made it in. The server, Becky was friendly, and let us sit where we wanted. Saw a sign, "proud to be a cash only establishment." I immediately walked to the gas station next door because I would have not expected to eat at a cash only spot. Anywho, should've done my due diligence to read the reviews thoroughly. The food was about average. The food tastes like I could have made it myself but then again, it was a breakfast spot. It wasn't crowded and they do covid protocols. The inside ambiance definitely does not match the outside because it was a nice and homey barn feel. Outside it looked like a biker bar. Also there is a bar next door.

Summer D.

Yelp
Long time customer of Mary's/Stockmans here and I have two key points: 1) bring back the wings! They used to have some of the best wings around, and the menu just isn't the same without them. 2) the recent renovations in the bar seems like a move to drive out regulars and revamp the business towards more of a family friendly tilt. I'm not entirely opposed, but it just isn't the same. Let the cafe be a cafe, and let the bar be a bar. That's just my humble onion. Other than that, the foods decent - their sweet heat pork is honestly great. Some more creative healthy-ish options would be awesome.

Linda S.

Yelp
This place is obviously a local favorite. We came for dinner and ordered the smoked brisket dinner. Food was very good, the homemade chipotle bbq sauce was excellent. Service was good. The decor is rustic cowboy. We did not get dessert, but that is obviously something they are proud of. For dinner, this place should have 2$.

Yelp
If you blink you might miss it. There's a small sign visible from the street and plenty of parking in front as well as a large dirt lot next door. Once inside we were greeted and told we could sit wherever we wanted. The location is great size with plenty of seating ; both low and high top tables as well as a bar area to drink. The kids saw the games so we chose to sit near them so they could play while we waited for our food. Our server was so wonderful and friendly. The kids really took a liking to her. Our drink order was taken and then we were given a few minutes to decide on our meals. Both the kids wanted a late breakfast and ordered Mom Mary's Cinnamon Roll French toast which also came with two eggs, bacon, sausage or ham and hash browns. I decided on the Navajo Taco. It all sounded so tasty. Like all places lately with Covid this location is hiring and with that being said we did wait quite a bit for our food. Service was still great and we were checked on often. It's not their fault there's a staffing shortage. Be patient because this food was so worth it! Seriously when this food came out it was almost to good looking to eat! Played well, eggs cooked to perfection. The French toast was INSANE! If you've seen their menu the cinnamon rolls they have are huge. They cute it down to three large strips, turn it into French toast and topped with brown sugar. PURE HEAVEN! You better believe even though I had to eat that Navajo taco; which by the way isn't tiny itself lol ....I ate some of the girls French toast. ( don't judge. These girls won't eat it all ha ha ) I was "helping". My Navajo Taco was piled high with deliciousness. It was so freaking good and full of flavor. It came with salsa, guacamole and sour cream on the side. None with was really needed because it already tasted great, but paired with the salsa and guacamole it hit it out of the park for me. This will definitely be a stop for our family every time we're in town from now on.

Janet K.

Yelp
Food was barely edible. Prices were very high. Took forever to get our food. Avoid this place.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
The food here is a little better than average...but not much. I was about to give it 3 stars until I noticed that the coffee was $3 a cup and it isn't that good. Shoulda brought our Starbucks. If it was $1.50, okay but it too pricey to be just below average. The menu doesn't have a lot of selection. Me and my girlfriend both got the cinnamon roll French Toast at the suggestion of our waitress and we were expecting something wonderful but it was pretty dry without the amazing flavor we had imagined and was just "meh". The hash browns were pretty good but the bacon was nothing special. Girlfriend got ham and that was pretty good. This place should be 2 dollar signs because our meal with coffee was over $30...and this place is cash only. Pretty disappointing
google avatar

Yelp
Great food. Friendly wait staff. Nice place you would never expect when driving by. Their smoked meat was great! Stopped in twice while in Flagstaff. That's saying something good about a place, especially since we were only in town a few days.

Yelp
Stopped here after camping on the South Rim and not wanting to make oatmeal in the morning. We watched the sunrise and headed down for a hearty breakfast. We wanted good portions and quality biscuits and gravy. This breakfast joint did not disappoint. It's a great local experience as well. You walk in and it looks like an old fashioned diner. Service was prompt. Food came quickly. Very personable staff. Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for an awesome breakfast.
