Yelp
Went because of all the four star ratings. This place delivers on many fronts, but sadly falls short on the thing that really matters.
The atmosphere of the the 50's/60's diner is there. The music fits the bill, the waitresses are friendly and efficient, and the menu covers all the bases and more for qualifying as a diner.
And for a Monday night a week after a Labor Day, business was brisk-- maybe because so many other places were closed for the season, or just closed Mondays.
But the food was something else again.
Had a pierogi breakfast bowl, a mix of the potato dumplings topped with fried egg, sausage chunks, bacon bits and white sauce fro a biscuits and gravy recipe.
But the combination of ingredients from three great breakfasts combined for a taste that didn't work, and left me bloated.
But my wife's meat loaf was a big disappointment. It's as if they ran out of ground beef and just overcooked two pieces of Salisbury steak. Thin, dry and nothing resembling a traditional meat loaf.
Dessert was a mixed bag. The Italian cream cake was fine, but the banana cream pie was a mistake. Instead of ripe banana slices in a custard filling, they puréed the two in a blender. The light brown result was certainly not appetizing, and the taste was off.
Good atmosphere, great service, but it is all about the food. Pass.
