The 17 Best Hidden Gem Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"Nestled into the San Gabriel Mountains above Pasadena, this charming neighborhood market gained new ownership in 2017, with Heather Morrison and Jenny Kay preserving the cottage-size diner’s classic American menu. Check out the fresh pastries and order up a bagel with lox or a plate of eggs Benedict." - Eater Staff

Hidden away in the hills north of I-210, this place is oozed with coziness. We came here for its ambience and the beautiful location, and walked away with really delicious food. Since other reviewers were raving about its bacons, so naturally I had to order a BLT. The bacon was indeed excellent and the whole BLT was by far one of the best I’ve had. My wife’s eggs Benedict was also very good. The sitting area was full of collectibles from the bygone days. It was an immensely enjoyable experience.

This little diner in Sierra Madre is the true definition of a local hidden gem. I have known about it for quite some time, even though I live over in West LA and had been tracking it since it was closed during the fires. I am working through a list of all diners in LA County and Mary’s was recommended to me. It’s tucked up near the mountains in Sierra Madre surrounded by homes and literally you drive on a dirt road to get to the restaurant. It’s right next to a ravine with flowing water and when I parked, I honestly thought to myself this does not even remind me of LA, but in a good way. It’s quite small on the inside, and this place is full of locals more than tourists. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to you. The interior is a little bit eclectic with all sorts of memorabilia of different types all around the restaurant. Our server was very polite, even though the food items came out pretty slowly and they forgot my coffee, but still everything was worth the wait. Parking can be very tricky in this area, they do have an outdoor parking lot right across from the restaurant, and I was able to find a space and parked perfectly straight, but when I came out to my car, which is brand new and maybe part of the reason, someone poured coffee all over my windshield, which I thought was kind of weird and hillbilly-esque. Guess mountain towns don’t like paying visitors? They actually have a pretty extensive menu with a lot of great options on it. For my first visit, I chose my favorite breakfast dish, which is Eggs Benedict. The ham was actually much better than you usually get and you can tell they actually buy in smaller batches because the ingredients are more premium than other places. I honestly was really happy with it. I felt the pricing was fair and just getting to this location is reason enough to visit it, especially if you are not from this area. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great breakfast option, especially to anyone that is in or near the Sierra Madre area.

Google
The cutest most unique spot where parking sucks but it's so worth it. You can eat in the quaint area inside or by the stream outside. Beware... multiple bear sightings daily, but the locals say they're harmless...

Google
Always a pleasure stopping in this unique little Hideaway up in the beautiful mountains to have a great cup of coffee and one of their delicious pastries

Google
I popped into Mary’s Market on a Saturday morning and was greeted by the owner who remembered my name by the second visit. Their biscuit sandwich with scrambled eggs, cheddar, and chorizo was loaded—not skimpy at all—and perfectly flaky. The coffee is a dark roast that gets refilled, so you never run dry. There's a friendly, hometown vibe, like you slipped into your grandmother’s kitchen. Great for fueling up before hiking in the nearby foothills.

Google
Tucked into the San Gabriel Mountains, Mary’s Market serves excellent egg‑topped bagels and fresh pastries in a cozy cottage‑style diner. The new owners have retained the old‑school charm, and their lox‑and‑cream‑cheese bagel feels like a treat. Windows open wide, letting in mountain breezes and birdsong. Staff are friendly and chatty, making every visit feel like connecting with neighbors. A peaceful breakfast stop after a hike nearby

Google
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in LA. Almost fearful to promote this spot because it’s such a cute hidden gem! I want to eat here everyday and live here even more so. Super lovely patio seating for a weekend morning, and smells like the best bacon ever when you walk in. The food was perfect, coffee was just right, and the employees were so smiley and compassionate. I even began an attempt at creating a spot in my backyard called “Mary’s Place” but unfortunately it will hardly compare.

Google
I discovered this many years ago by googling best breakfast in Sierra Madre. And it is ! Lunch is great too. Quirky and laid back but the food and service are spectacular. Parking can be tricky but worth the trip.

Yelp
Flavorful food, great coffee, quirky quaint vibes, with a chill outdoor seating option next to a flowing creek. Looking for a unique Sunday brunch spot? This is your place. Service was good in spite of the fact that we arrived thirty minutes before closing. Just be forewarned that parking may not be available and you may have to park at the bottom of a hill and walk in/out.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place because of its location and quaintness but I felt very disappointed. First, I wanted a simple BLT which they don't have. I thought that was strange considering they're an American breakfast restaurant. They have their own version of a BLT but sadly it's not an improvement on the traditional sandwich. The egg is poached and they add avocado raw spinach and cream cheese. The bread was toasted 2/3...as though they used a toaster much too small for the bread. Very odd. I also had a difficult time explaining to the young woman working the cashier that I wanted a regular BLT, as though she didn't understand what a regular BLT is. It's as though we had to deconstruct their version to make a simple sandwich. And speaking of staff, all the young women working there looked like they rather be somewhere else. The expressions they had on their face were practically scowls. The whole experience made me feel unwelcome. As though there is a secret or code unknown to me. I understand their decision to make the dishes as they like. It's their food and their restaurant to decide what to serve. And truthfully, the sandwich wasn't awful, it's simply not great. It's the bad customer service and unfriendliness that was really disappointing. It was clear they don't want my business. Perhaps they simply want the local Sierra Madre resident as patrons. It looked so inviting on FB, the employees look so happy but don't be fooled. The experience is quite different.

Yelp
This spot has been a great Sunday morning breakfast place. I discovered it with my girlfriend randomly a few months ago, but it is a place we continuously come back to. Parking is a bit tough, but the atmosphere makes up for it. You are able to sit outside, and this past weekend, there was water so we were able to hear the stream! The workers are so nice, and the food is delicious at an affordable price. This small business is great. Check it out!

Yelp
Old school since 1922. This a hidden gem up in this mountain side city. We were here for a Father's Day breakfast and they weren't too busy. There is limited free parking especially on the weekend. We ordered an egg plate breakfast which included avocado, potatoes, and sourdough bread plus a waffle topped with strawberries. The food was pretty good and the waffle was made just right with a slight crunchiness.
google avatar

Niki S.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast! I had Egg Benny, it's simple, freshly made and so delicious! I've had so many fancier versions of Egg Benny but nothing beat a simple yet cooked perfectly one. As picky as me, this time, I have to admit there's nothing I would like to complain... Before coming here, I looked up street view on Google and thought there are plenty parking and nothing to worry about. I was so wrong, all spaces were taken at 9am on a Sunday! Your best chance is to park down the hill along Sturtevant Dr. From where I parked, it's approx half mile hike up to the restaurant but it's a good way to work up the appetite. Seating is limited and would not be good for a group over 6. Seem like there's more outdoor seating though. The line never stopped and sometimes out the door. I do see myself coming back on a weekday to enjoy the quiet and delicious breakfast while everyone at work:)

Yelp
Brunch in Sierra Madre, Los Angeles, California... My friend gave me a list of places to go and I chose Mary's Market because it sounded quaint and unique... And it was! Nestled in the mountain countryside, next to a babbling stream, Mother Nature showed us her fabulous bright summer foresty colors on a sunny June week day. We easily found parking across the lane and walked right into the past. The vintage decor brought back memories of my grandmother's kitchen! The knick knacks (like dolls, dishes, and ceramic figurines), vinyl records, and other memorabilia were blasts from my childhood! We ordered at the cash register and our meals were politely brought to us by the friendly staff. I got one of the LA Sandwich Week Specials: The CLUB B.LA.S.T. Sandwich with Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, Swiss, Turkey with mayo, ham, and tomato on toast. It was yummy comfort food with warm fuzzy feelings! We had great conversation in an old-fashioned American environment! God bless the USA!

Yelp
07/16/2023 My first visit was before the pandemic. In December, a week before Christmas. I ordered the NorthWest Benny, no relations or affiliation to Kanye or Kim. I remember the salt and pepper shakers were little Santa Claus and Mrs Claus. During the cold months, it slows down a bit and probably due to the holidays. Today, the middle of summer and one of the hottest days on calendar. We decided to come here along with everyone else who knows about this place. Probably hikers from around the area. Mt Wilson trailhead is nearby too. This is a good rest stop for the restroom, water, coffee, breakfast, brunch, and antique shopping. I wanted the savory waffle and the coffee is good, dark, strong cup of Joe. What I really wanted to say to a few of those one star reviews. If you're complaining about competing on a narrow road with a utility truck almost hitting you, shut it. You are one that cannot follow your GPS directions, you shouldn't even venture up here. If you're complaining about the parking, take a hike. If you're complaining about the food because you could have made it better at home, stay home. You say you supported by buying store merchandise and yet you took all of these photos, not one of those photos is of something you bought. Everything is vintage, even the gnome in the garden is laughing at this review. Last thing I'll rant about is if you took photos of street signs but you cannot spell Sturtevant Dr in Sierra Madre, stop complaining about the treacherous drive up a long winding road. This place was busy all morning with people coming in ordering food. These nice folks actually deliver your dishes out to your patio seating. The least you could do is clear your table when you are finished. There are more than just people up here that would love your leftovers and that is what I like to share with you about this secluded hidden gem. *Flag any photos if not appropriate but I approved since they are in public view*

Yelp
I generally don't like writing low-star rating reviews at all, but here's a piece of a long pickle~ This was an odd spot of an extremely secluded restaurant in the City of Sierra Madre., CA. My Yelp friends and I met here for a second hang out spot on the same day. I experienced lots of hassle locating this place and had an extremely terrible time getting out of my parking spot because the streets leading up to this secluded restaurant site were so extremely narrow: there was a section between Woodland and Stuartvant Streets where city trucks were driving down and the section was so narrow I literally thought I was getting into a car accident through no fault of my own. There were Even two city trucks trying to drive down simultaneously of me driving up that Stauartvant Street which I was informed later, was indeed a mountainous road. While this cafe gave out a Vintage vibe, I'm likely not coming back even though I supported them buying store merch (for my Yelp friends and I) which I thought were pricey. When I asked for a receipt, there wasn't any on site instead the cashier had to hand-write me one on a piece of paper. Unfortunately, This will just be a one time visit for me. Great idea but MeThinksNot.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the gorgeous Shire-like scenery surrounding this place, the cafe is the honest rough inside of the diamond. Food was bland, not enough of each ingredients, and not enough ingredients in in general. Go for the hang, order the polenta, and if you salt it enough maybe just maybe you'll begin to feel something.

Yelp
A true gem in the deep canyon of Sierra Madre. Park a little bit down the hill and enjoy the short walk up to the restaurant. It is rarely crowded, there's plenty of outdoor seating, and you will enjoy a nice quiet walk around the unique canyon afterwards. We ordered the lox Benedict, the breakfast burrito, and the bagel and cream cheese and they were all delicious. The self-serve coffee was very convenient, and the staff was very helpful and get getting you towards the right choice. It's a wonderful way to be in LA without feeling like you're in the middle of a big city. Love it here.

Yelp
A cute little cafe tucked away in a neighborhood in Sierra Madre. A quaint, cozy cafe! I used google maps to find this place since I read reviews of people having trouble finding it. Parking: I parked down the road from the cafe and walked less than half a mile, not bad at all and a lovely walk! Please pay attention to the signs that say no parking! Service: Excellent! The staff were all so friendly and kind, it felt like old friends catching up! Food: I ordered "Size Zero" that included - Two poached eggs, spinach and tomatoes on top of toasted wheat bread and topped with capers and red onion. It was delicious. I had a cup of coffee! Creamer and milk are self serve to the right of the cashier. They also have oat milk for those lactose intolerant. Overall, I'm in love. I love little hidden gems like this one. I brought my journal and journaled a bit while waiting for my food. I think there's places nearby you can walk or hike to? Saw many people who looked like they had a nice morning hike prior to enjoying brunch here!

Joanne O.

Yelp
Good food good service The boss is so nice and beautiful.Staff service is very good! The best thing is the location of this restaurant. It's a great place to invite friends to eat and chat!

Yelp
The food is simple but fresh and good quality. Eggs Benedict were solid and the breakfast burrito was piping hot. The classics are done well here. The ambiance and service is homey, cozy, and unparalleled. Healthy breakfast options with standard American breakfast fare are offered. The experience is only elevated by the picturesque surroundings. Parking lot is tiny though

Yelp
I enjoy Mary's Market. I like the location and the two times that I have been, I have enjoyed the food. For my most recent visit, a small group of us walked there, and I suggest that, because parking is limited and the walk is nice. Nice and quick service!
google avatar

Yelp
If there is a heaven it will resemble Mary's Market. Peacefully nestled cafe in the foothills of Sierra Madre. A diverse crowd of regulars having their coffee while Nick Drake sings about the morning on the stereo. Ex-hippies talking politics with younger generations, 70 yr old lesbians in leather biker jackets alongside someone reading their Buddhism book aloud to their table...ALL OVER WAFFLES! I can't give this place enough stars! Prepare to smile.

Yelp
Food is good. Coffee is hot and you get free refills. Location great. Love me Some Sierra Madre .. wisteriaville! Parking is difficult- but you can double park and move as needed. Be patient everyone is nice and helpful - except for that ugly lady from LA who said she call the tow truck - when asked by all of us - she flip us and me off ! Ugly attitude makes you an ugly person. Anyway.. visit you will like it. It's really out of the usual. Staff is super friendly. Orders take a long time - small staff, lots of people and plenty of pretty areas to sit and just hang out. Enjoy...

A little cute & cozy & granny diner style place. Good drawing spot as well. Price is reasonable and good food.

Yelp
Growing up in Pasadena, my friends would speak about Mary's Market, and describe it as a 'locals place,' tucked away in the hills of Sierra Madre. I never knew exactly where it was, and while it sounded super hip and cool, it also sounded very much off the beaten path. Well, 23 years later, I have finally met Mary. What a gem! It is not a market but rather a cafe that serves strong coffee, fresh toast, and amazing waffles, among other things. * Coffee * Waffle + fruit Upon entry, I was greeted with a cheerful "good morning, can I start you off with a coffee?" I asked for a cappuccino but they keep it traditional with drip only. It is a strong cuppa Joe fit for a fresh morning start. Free refills are offered or upon request. When my waffle arrived there was no butter, I said well let's try it first. Oh my gosh! No butter is needed. The waffle was fluffy but also crunchy, served with fresh berries and banana slices. My tastebuds picked up hints of cinnamon, yet when I asked the host if cinnamon was in the batter, she said no. So I am not sure what that hidden flavor was but I loved it so much that the very next morning I ordered the same breakfast. My AirBnb was a few feet away from Mary's Market, so although I did not stop in for lunch as I had that covered, I did pop in to grab an orange juice and Martinelli's from the self-serve refrigerator. On that note, I have to say the staff here are really cool. Not only from the moment they greet you at entry but overall friendly service. When I came back to get the cold beverages just before 2pm, they were closing. I was not aware of the hours but the owner asked if I had cash. Yes!! So she let me in. She could have easily said sorry our hours are such and such, but she did not. Free parking is across the street. Inside seating at tables or the counter, and outside seating under the trees or in the garden behind the shop. Dope spot tucked away in the hills, do check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I really like this place. What I don't like, really, is finding a place to park. The spots around it have long limits so people are in no hurry to move their cars. Staff are always super nice and welcoming.
google avatar

Destiny E.

Yelp
3 stars because I love the concept. It's a cozy little restaurant that is very homey and antique. Nestled in the Sierra madre hills parking sucks and it was difficult to find (even with Google maps). However, the food was not my favorite :(. You order at the cashiers and they bring it out to you when it's ready. You also buss your own tables when you're done. My biggest let down was the eggs. The eggs were watery. They weren't good at all. Some of my potato's were cold and my toast wasn't very toasted. The ambiance is cute however cute isn't filling when you're hungry. Not a fan of the breakfast burrito either, again because the eggs were watery. I wouldn't return in all honesty.
google avatar

Angelene M.

Yelp
Stopped by here for some breakfast before work, had a delicious meal cooked and served by a friendly welcoming staff. I ordered the BLAST with some coffee and I have to say that was one of the best BLTs I've ever had. The coffee was lovely served hot and easily customizable and the attentive waitress was quick to offer a refill. Can't wait to come back and try something else. The diner itself is very unique with a very cozy energy. If you're tired of the boring walls of your average breakfast place and you want some bomb delicious food this is the perfect place.

Yelp
Great place to come after a nice hike in the San Gabriel Mountains.....country dinner vibes very good and very welcoming staff, dog friendly and food was on point ....only bad is parking that can be rough, added steps to your hike if anything

Yelp
Tucked away in the heart of the Sierra Madre, Mary's Market is a hidden culinary gem. It combines a simple yet hearty menu with an eclectic and inviting ambiance. When you enter, you'll sense an atmosphere filled with warmth and charm, setting the tone for a truly memorable dining experience. The first thing that caught my eye at Mary's Market was its menu, a testimony to simplicity's power. Regarding their dishes, Mary's Market understands that sometimes less is more. Each dish on their menu is thoughtfully crafted to highlight natural flavors. In Mary's Market, you'll find a unique ambiance. The cafe is adorned with quirky ornaments, evoking nostalgia and wonder. It's the place that makes you feel right at home, and you can't help but be captivated by its unique charm. Mary's Market staff is as vibrant as the ambiance itself. Their friendly and attentive nature adds to the overall experience, making you feel like a cherished guest. Whether you dine indoors or soak up the California sunshine on their charming outdoor patio, Mary's Market offers a sanctuary away from everyday life. The relaxed ambiance and the flavorsome dishes create an enchanting haven where you can savor each moment and indulge in culinary delights. You will enjoy Mary's Market as it captivates your senses and satisfies your palate.

Yelp
We stopped by to pick up some sandwiches to take with us on our hike - Mt. Wilson Trail. I stayed outside with the pup so I can't say much about the inside, but the exterior and surrounding area was so cute and quaint. It was a little hard finding the place, but there was plenty of parking (we went on a Thursday). There's indoor seating and plenty of outside seating. Will be returning to try more things! This place was only 3 min away from Mt. Wilson Trail.

Yelp
I haven't written a review in months since I don't really use Yelp anymore but I had to for this place. We visited this place back in 2015-ish and then were unable to find it again! Yes, this cafe is so cute and serene located in a small neighborhood but what we remember from our experience here is the kindness of the staff/owners. We didn't realize this place was cash only and upon finding out we were going to leave and come back a different day but we were still served and were kindly told that we could just come pay for our meal later. It was really a type of generosity and trust in strangers that you don't see much. The food was great, the staff was wonderful, the ambiance was peaceful, and we ended up going to grab cash and bringing it in right after we ate. I finally saw someone post a picture of this place and immediately recognized it & was able to come write a long overdue review!

Yelp
You need to go in this place, after walk around in this Canyon. First, the food is really tasty and delicious. Second, the history of the place is really cool! The restaurant is there for 100 years. Follow the data, Jimmy Hendrix was a good customer. The price is fair and good. Take one weekend and go there. They close at 2pm.
google avatar

Daniel B.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Ate here in a Saturday when it opened and wasn't busy at all. Loved the coziness and overall vibe.
google avatar

Matt P.

Yelp
Good food and friendly service but the star of this show is its location, a little hideaway that will challenge your phone's navigation. Mary's has the feel of a Sierra town like Oakhurst, CA or Mariposa. You have the option of enjoying your meal next to a babbling brook or walking your to-go coffee to a little bridge surrounded by craftsman style camping cabins now lived in full time. Use your imagination a little and experience the magic of being away from the city, far from LA. The restaurant has the wares of local artists and interesting garage sale-like finds to complement California cuisine. This is a place close to my heart.
google avatar

Kristine B.

Yelp
Hate writing bad reviews but I am doing this hoping that it helps turn things around for others. First off, the women working must have been having a bad day because let you tell you, it was quit noticeable. It's was a charming spot but there was no charm from her. My sandwich bread was supposed to be on sourdough but it wasn't but I would have been fine if they at least toasted the bread. My girlfriends food was really bad. The pouched eggs we hard and the potatoes left a lot to be desired. It's pretty hard to mess up homes fries but they did. Bland and mushy. She told the nice gentleman and he was very sweet and made her a sandwich instead. When we were walking out, we said thank you to the lady that was having a bad day and she just ignored us. This place has a lot of potential but the energy needs some cleansing and the menu can use some help.

Yelp
don't let the out of the way location stop you from visiting Mary's. there was no parking left by this hidden hillside gem, but a quick drive down the hill and a a quick sprint back took care of that I enjoyed a deliciously piping hot coffee and perfectly poached egg with avocado and tomato in this unassuming rustic cafe. Charming locale, great place to meet friends and enjoy privacy and sunshine on the patio

Yelp
Adorable little mountain hideaway breakfast joint with vintage shop in lovely Sierra Madre. Lovely ladies run this cute shop with breakfast goodies. Want to travel back in time? Definitely come here. It's like being back in the 50's in a little mountain town, but with much less hassle getting here. How did I not know this existed?? Super nice people and tasty breakfast food. Pretty good coffee for being a diner type place also. Well worth the trip!

Yelp
WOW, 100 years! This place looks amazing for 100 years old. Super cute, good menu. Enough variety to keep everyone happy, but not so much as to overwhelm you with options! Came during Spring break with my kids to enjoy the nature and get some breakfast. Pricing is very reasonable and the staff is so kind and friendly (even the other patrons are super friendly). You get that great homey neighborhood feel. We had some yummy waffles, perfectly poached eggs, toast and bacon. There is some cute and kitschy stuff for sale. The kids loved the retro phones (you know the ones with cords...LOL) I even bought a hat and post cards!

Yelp
I visited Mary's Market after a hike, I ordered the eggs benedict with roasted potatoes. The eggs benedict was delicious, especially the flavorful hollandaise sauce. However, the pricing felt a bit high, particularly the $4 salty roasted potatoes that I ordered alongside the benedict. My friends ordered orange juice, but it was disappointing as it came in small cups and wasn't freshly squeezed. At Mary's Market, you order at the cashier and seat yourself, creating a cozy, home-like atmosphere. Overall, the food is decent but pricey. I might consider returning if I'm in the area, but it's not a top choice.

Yelp
Small town charm. Big eats flavors. All the charm and friendly service you'd expect at a mom & pop type cafe. Mary's makes you feel at home. Great breakfast spot. We have friends that live up the street and will no doubt, be having breakfast or lunch here any time we are visiting. Antique/vintage items for sale. Baked goods. You are offered coffee while in line waiting to place your order at the counter. Cold drinks are available for you to grab on your own from the fridge. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I can't get enough of the polenta. Best I've had in years. We've also enjoyed the waffles, and breakfast sandwich. We are well on our way to exploring the entire menu..GOALS.

Yelp
This once boutique market turned restaurant is the epitome of "overrated LA restaurant". Apparently only reserved for the locals the vibe was extremely discerning and uncomfortable as soon as I walked in. I had my small service animal in a leash in my arms when I walked in, seeing as there was no sign on the door or anywhere in the front windows and there were several dogs on the patio. Immediately the skinny gentleman with brown hair and glasses loudly and aggressively from across the room yelled at us and said we can't have any dogs here. Now, I completely understand and respect the stores rules but there's a way to go about things and this was the exact opposite of what you expect from a restaurant. It felt as if the entire restaurant stopped eating at that exact moment to turn and gawk at us, sheer embarrassment and horror. I wanted to turn around and walk out without ever turning back but my mom didn't want to leave since we already had spent 15 minutes going in circles trying to find the restaurant in the first place. He proceeded to take our order with the lousiest attitude ever, you felt as though they surely would spit in your food. I've never felt so unwelcome and like an outsider in my entire life. Besides that the whole restaurant was smoky the entire time, it certainly has to be a health violation, there was a clear layer of smoke for the whole hour we were there where the diners were eating!! It was unbelievable and I cannot believe the health department allows them to be in business, matter of fact I had half a mind to call them myself to come check out the establishment and review their policies. The restaurant looked, felt, smelt old and dingy and I felt true hesitation in the cleanliness of the entire place and our food. If you ask me. I'd say this place is out of date, out of touch and I can't see one reason why anyone keeps coming here. Must be a locals thing...

Yelp
Heather and Jenny are the best ! The food is delicious , home style. This is one of the last refuge historic old diners in the entire metro area. Great historic diner in a beautiful canyon setting. Support this local small business and you won't regret it!

Yelp
Incredibly charming. You feel like you're in some tiny European town with the sound of the stream nearby and the cozy tree cover. Went here for breakfast with my wife and just soaked in the air along with the great breakfast. Will return a bunch.

Yelp
After several recommendations from friends I finally decided to go. I sat at the counter and ordered a beagle with cream cheese and coffee. Next time I'll get a complete breakfast as I noticed how good the food looked coming out from the kitchen. I enjoyed chatting with Heather. As I was paying my bill I mentioned it was my birthday which caused Jenny and Heather to present me with a free cupcake and they sang happy birthday to me. I'm definitely making this friendly place a regular stop for me.

Yelp
I LOVED my breakfast here this morning. I got the regular Eggs Benny, and it was delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful and the customers all seemed happy to be there. The service was amazing. Even the lack of easy parking kind of added to the charm. Hard to believe this little gem exists in LA County.

Yelp
Omg what a beautiful drive just to get there! Love this area of LA so secluded and away from all the traffic of the city with the creek running along side super relaxing setting on a Sunday morning. Food was good I ordered the blast sandwich and tea. Only problem is finding parking so be ready to take a walk.

Yelp
The four stars is for their waffle and coffee. The atmosphere: Homey and corky with an old time feel from the early 50s. They do sell bottles and canned drinks as well as candy among other Knick knacks. Service: Laid back. You pay at the front cashier counter. You also get your own coffee refills too and water. This place is a locals spot. So a lot of attention is given to those in the area from my observation. The place is small and parking is very narrow. With 2 20min parking spots. Be careful and drive slow if parking by the spot. If not comfy driving up, there are some public parking spots below and you can hike up. Will be back this Wednesday for a peaceful breakfast

Yelp
This place has a charming ambiance, but I found the food to be a bit on the expensive side for the portion sizes. Additionally, the interior feels cramped due to the high number of tables. It's worth noting that you'll need to get your own water and place your order at the cashier; the service is limited to bringing your food to the table.

Yelp
Small place in a tight mountain neighborhood. This is a hidden gem that is worth the travel. It feels as cozy as a literal house while serving you out of one.

Yelp
Great food, coffee and service, but also one of the most unique dining experiences in the San Gabriel Valley. Very quaint, and you can feel the history and hear the nearby brook when seated outside. I love the Cowboy Bowl, Lady Bowl and the Gio, but everything is good. Parking can be a little tough, but you can park on Sturtevant just after turning onto it from Mountain Trail-- before the curve that ends at the intersection of Woodland. Short, pleasant walk from there.

Yelp
A little hideaway in the foothills . A back in time experience, running stream but not many places to park. Food is excellent and self serve.

Yelp
Expensive for nothing special, very dull food and lack luster service. Poor parking and self service water and cold coffee

Yelp
Parking was horrible, it's gets super crowded and congested, there no real sense of organization or order. We waited for about 15 mins before anyone told us that " there won't be any food coming out for about an hour" the idea is cute but I suggest if you actually wanna be served and find a decent parking, you might want to go probably 15-20 mins before they open.

Yelp
I love this tucked away gem for breakfast. Food is delicious, staff is friendly and welcoming, charming kitschy vibe. Parking is tough but that's just part of the experience. I love getting the 1/2 and 1/2 with grits and the cowboy bowl--never disappoints.
