La Hacienda Review - Woodbine - Nashville - The Infatuation

"La Hacienda has been around for more than 25 years and is far enough from Broadway to avoid the pub crawlers, but still less than a $10 Uber ride from neighborhoods like Downtown and 12South. It feels a little bit celebratory at all times with its colorful walls, tiled fountains, and painted murals, but it’s family-friendly and has food options like barbacoa and seafood, burritos, tacos, and enchiladas. And since everything here is pretty affordable, finish off your meal with the churros, though you can also get flan, tres leches cake, or sopapillas." - Kristen Shoates

Google
Absolutely phenomenal! Being from NM, I am pretty critical of Mexican restaurants. Mas Amigos is the BEST Mexican restaurant we have found in TN after 3 years of living here! The dishes were excellent, both the steak and chicken were super tender and very flavorful. Eduardo was an outstanding server, very friendly, took great care of us. The place is open, well kept and very inviting. We had the steak fajitas, chicken nachos, taco salad and tacos Dorado. All excellent. Their salsa is the very best we have had in TN. Our Son hates salsa and even he loved this salsa.

Google
Wow, Date-worthy establishment without a doubt. The food is genuine and absolutely perfect. Tacos Brillia is the best ever! Marinated beef with a dip and warm soft but crunchy tortillas and the salsa is very unique. A tasteful all of its own, served with light, crunchy chips with just the right amount of salt. All this served in an immaculate, tasteful lobby directly beside a well stocked and perfectly arranged bar. The service was great and the food prepared and served almost TOO fast. 😂 Great people and great quality food!

Google
Chips and Salsa were excellent. As was the Tex Mex cheese enchiladas and the steak fajitas with all the fixens. The inside was very nice and cozy. I highly recommend Mas Amigos off Nolensville.

Google
Best Mexican food I've had in Nashville so far. Excellent Happy Hour Sunday through Thursday until 8 pm, $6 Margs and $4 drafts. The salsa is very mild but absolutely delicious and the queso sauce is unique. It was a bit difficult to communicate with my server as she didn't speak very good english but we made do. I ordered the Mas Amigos Fajitas which were delicious and very filling. The pork belly was more like chicarones, which was fine but not very good in fajitas. Steak was under seasoned. This was all made up for by the delicious margarita, queso sauce and salsa. I look forward to coming back.

Google
Whew. Best. Mexican. Restaurant. In. Nashville! The ratings absolutely did not lie. We went at lunch and we were seated right away. The waiter was very attentive. They were quick with our drinks and food. We ordered strawberry margaritas for our drinks and it is hands down the best margarita I’ve ever had. All the food was so flavorful as well. Let me just tell you, listen to the reviews and run to this restaurant. Just delicious! Your taste buds will thank you.

Google
Came here while we visited Nashville & it was sooo good. Horchata was good, service was good. The carne asada was soft & flavorful. So was the guacamole! I had the bowl with steak! Overall a great experience

Google
Great food and service! I suggest playing old Mexican movies instead of sports on the TV’s. Or get rid of them. The restaurant doesn’t need them.

Google
So glad we went off reviews to try this place on our trip through Nashville. Hands down the best Mexican food I've had anywhere, and Mexican is my favorite food. 🙏💯🔥 their salsa was phenomenal, thin and crispy chips, great enchiladas sauce with high quality cheeses... I plan to come back on our trip back home. Loved the atmosphere as well. Great experience.

Yelp
The food was amazing, the service was great and so was the vibe. Would definitely come back when I'm in town again.

Yelp
I've been looking for a new place to dine before or after seeing a movie at Hollywood 27, and this place is less than 10 minutes no highways necessary. Even better, it's a really solid Mexican restaurant that stands out from the pack. It's clean, modern and a bit upscale. Servers/service are/is excellent, there's plenty of free parking out front, and on a Friday night there was zero wait time?! Maybe I shouldn't review this one, maybe I should keep it to myself lol. The menu has a good mix of standard expectations and unique twists, but it's concise enough to not be overwhelming. There's plenty to choose from without getting lost in the weeds and I'm betting they can prepare each perfectly (give me 10-20 perfect dishes over 50-60 middling options any day). Prices are more than reasonable (we ate for less than $30--water to drink, though). The complimentary chips and salsa are better than most I've had anywhere locally in a long time--the chips are light, crispy, perfect amount of salt, and plentiful (we actually asked for a box to take the leftovers home and they were just as good the next day). The salsa is a verde medium spice salsa that is fresh and flavorful. I ordered a small guacamole ($5) and it was great--chunky and fresh. More than enough for 2, so the large probably feeds 4. There's a "chunky" variety that must be incredibly chunky. I had the carnitas plate, my wife had the Mas Amigas Bandido Rice w/ grilled chicken and cheese sauce (you can customize that dish with a variety of meat and sauce options). The meat on both plates was cooked to perfection, the vegetables fresh, the rice and beans on point. I'll likely be back and am leaving room for a full "5" as I don't feel that I've had quite enough to know if Mas Amigas is "perfect" yet or not, but I'm thinking it has a chance given the right "wow" dish. I'll try to snap a menu photo as well as the Yelp menu as of Dec 2024 is incomplete (missing the carnitas, for example).

Yelp
Cozy, modern Mexican restaurant nestled in a little inside corner of the street. The decor inside is beautifully done; with updated lighting, modernized dining experience. The staff is uber friendly, had a lot of patience while I glanced through their menu. What made me come to this restaurant was a photo of their charro beans and rice. That sounded so perfect for that rainy cold day. The server came out with a basket of chips, and salsa verde sauce. The chips were flavorful and warm to touch, my lips were instantly happy. The food came out shorty, it was exactly what I hope it would taste like. I will definitely be back for this and to try more. Ordered a tres leche cake to go, it was the best I've had in my life.

Yelp
Had dinner here the other night and it was pretty good! The restaurant is not in a good part of town, but was very aesthetically pleasing and the food was good. I ordered a skinny marg which was stronger than most (not complaining) and the steak quesadilla. I was with two other girls and we all agreed our dishes needed more cheese, but besides that, it was great!

Yelp
My new favorite Mexican Restaurant! This place is a must try. The food is delicious and there is a wonderful variety, including soups, salads, bowls, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas, some wonderful appetizers, and even molcajete! We couldn't stop eating their perfectly thin tortilla chips and delicious salsa. But, we also ordered and LOVED the Mas Amigos Dip Appetizer (queso, seasoned ground beef, & pico de gallo)! This is a must try starter for the table to enjoy. It was lunch, so my friend and I both enjoyed some of their tacos. I had the Birria Tacos with Consommé (3 to an order) and my friend had the Shrimp Tacos (2 to an order). Both dishes were delicious and we vowed to return soon. The service was great and the restaurant is new, super clean, and decorated like a bistro rather than a typical Mexican restaurant. The prices are very fair for the quality of the food served. They also have a full bar and a frozen margarita machine. I recommend you try Mas Amigos the next time you are craving Mexican food! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I try to refrain from giving out 5 star reviews unless truly warranted, and this spot earned it. The atmosphere is very modern and not your typical Mexican joint which was refreshing. Employees were friendly and attentive as well. The food: Their salsa that comes with the chips is fantastic. Probably the best "free" salsa I've ever had at a restaurant. Baja Tacos- Easily in the top three best fish tacos I've had. The fish was perfectly fried with a panko like breading, perfect amount of toppings, and a pretty big portion for just two tacos. Chicken Suizas- Delicious and fresh tasting chicken covered with cheese, whats not to love? We will be back!

Yelp
I'm almost hesitant to write a review bc I want to keep this quant restaurant to myself. Everything I've tried has been amazing. The servers are so sweet and quick with food and drinks! I probably go once every couple weeks and it never disappoints. It's also adorable inside.

Yelp
Everything was delicious here! The salsa was awesome, with warm, delicate, perfectly salted chips. My husband ordered tacos and really enjoyed them. I had the chicken verde enchiladas. The verde sauce was great. I asked for homemade hot sauce and they brought red and green varieties. The red was nice and spicy and the green was milder and very flavorful. We were just passing through, but would have loved to try more dishes!

Yelp
Was craving Mexican food Sunday night and placed an Uber eats delivery. The food was very fresh especially that guacamole. I love that they give you two options because I prefer the chunky guac style. The meet was also very good especially the steak and chicken. My only complaints would be that the beef was a little dry and I did not love the refried beans. I'm sure this would be different if I walked in the restaurant and ordered though!

Yelp
Have been looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant and have found it. Fresh ingredients and welcome staff. Very clean and fresh look. I will be back - thanks.

Yelp
More of an upscale ambiance for Mexican food. The service could have been better. We had to wait awhile to be served initially. But the food was great. The free salsa was on the spicier side and that was the mildest they had, so if you like salsa and don't like spicy things this is not the place for you. Overall a good experience.

Yelp
Fast, delicious Mexican restaurant with quick service and a clean atmosphere!!! Try it

Yelp
Free parking in Nashville is rare but this place supplies a free lot right in front. Weather permitting, enjoy dining outside on their patio areas. Walking in and you will immediately realize by the decor and ambiance that this isn't a typical hole in the wall. Gorgeous table sets and bar area. We had a quick lunch with excellent service and the best fresh salsa & queso. My daughter and I split the birra taco entree and added a side of refried beans. The birra dipping sauce and tacos were piping hot and savory. Hands down, best birra tacos I've ever had! My only regret was splitting them! This restaurant replaced the previous Mexican restaurant and what an upgrade it is! We will definitely return.

Yelp
I've been to Mas Amigos several times, and I love coming back each time. All my visits have started with a warm greeting from the staff. The ambiance is cozy, and the food arrives quickly and tastes amazing. From tacos and burritos to enchiladas and stir-fry, everything I've tried has been excellent. The prices provide a good value. The wait staff is friendly, efficient, and always on their game. One of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to in Nashville.

Yelp
So good. It's nicely decorated on the inside and you don't leave smelling like fried chips! Service was excellent, free parking and everything we ordered was freshly made and out in minutes! Delicious food. We plan to return.

Andrew R.

Yelp
It was a pretty good experience overall. The food was good and I would recommend it to anybody. I plan on returning.

Yelp
Came to Mas amigos for a business dinner. The food was good the only thing I didn't like was the appetizer in the agua chiles the shrimp were not fresh. But the tortillas soup and carne asada plate made up for the appetizer. The horchata is A1 and highly recommended. If I return to Nashville I would definitely eat here again. I'm from California so it's hard to find good Mexican restaurants to the standard I grown accustomed.

Yelp
Oh man, we were so excited to see this place open up as we were fans of the former. You almost miss it hidden right off a busy main road, thankfully there is plenty of free parking. We were seated quickly, served promptly, and the food came fast on a Saturday night. The renovations are gorgeous; sadly, the food is shockingly mediocre (at least what we ordered). We were excited based on the existing reviews and hate to bring a damper, but honestly it did not live up to the hype. The drinks were just fine, decently priced and the presentation is beautiful. The service was fantastic, the chips and salsa were top notch homemade quality, you are limited to a small amount. The birra tacos meat could have been more seasoned/flavorful, the burrito meal was too greasy and barely any cheese sauce. Didn't prefer the rice or beans (not on the side but inside the burrito). We did not order dessert but saw a few celebrations with fantastic looking desserts, so perhaps that's where they shine. Overall, I think they have opportunity to improve and I am rooting for them as they are so close to my home and I wanna be able to come back and have a better experience.

Yelp
Delicioso! We had grilled fish tacos, beef tacos and cheese enchiladas for lunch. Very good! Plus Dos Equis Amber on tap. Service is slow but just don't be in a hurry. The place is clean and has a nice patio.

Kim C.

Yelp
Birria tacos & sauce were delicious. House margarita tasted to be a pre-made mix, so.....meh. Service: not the best. Staff were smiling & friendly but congregated and hung out together rather than ensuring customers had adequate water, their check, etc. and kept apologizing with "sorry". I won't drive across town just to come here, but if you're in the area, you'll likely get good food (my husbands burrito was "ok"). Just know the service is less than.

Kate R.

Yelp
-enchiladas are fantastic -fresh house made salsa -have a variety of margarita flavors- including spicy

Yelp
Great tasty food, reasonable pricing and good margaritas. Very surprised and the place is super clean and bright. Definitely worth trying this gem.

Yelp
Mas Amigos has taken over the location of the long-time Nashville (and mine) favorite La Hacienda. It has been completely remodeled in a nice, sleek, simple, modern esthetic. The memu has also been upgraded to a more upscale offering. I was joined by my wife, sister, and brother-in-law, and we all enjoyed our food. The margaritas (one mango on the rocks and one jalapeño on the rocks) were both excellent. The birria tacos were delicious and came with a nice spicy green sauce as wel as the standard consomè. The owner stopped by and checked on us, and we complimented him on the spicy green sauce. He told us they also make an even spicier red sauce and got us some. Let me say, if you like spicy Mexican sauces, be sure to ask for the red - it is spicy, but in a delicious, flavorful way (not just for the sake of being hot). To finish the meal we had the plantain dessert- nicely fried and drizzled with condensed milk and powdered sugar - yum! Service was excellent, the food was delicious, and I like the new modern look. Highly recommended, and I'll be returning.

Justin S.

Yelp
This is hands down the best Mexican joint in Nashville that serves more than just tacos!
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
The food was wonderful. You are greeted with a salsa verde with your chips, which is quite spicy, instead of the traditional red salsa. I had the Birria tacos and I am a Connoisseur of birria and it is the best I have ever had. The place is absolutely beautiful inside and very classy. The staff was excellent as well.

Danna L.

Yelp
It's very cozy and cute, wonderful service and DELICIOUS food!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best Tres Leches!

Yelp
Good solid Mexican American fare. Be hungry, friend, be very hungry . God 85 characters is a lot.

Yelp
Best food, service, and atmosphere. No complaints and everyone that visits or lives in Nashville that wants authentic Mexican food should come here immediately.

Yelp
Fantastic señora tacos. Super tender skirt steak. Lots of meat in each taco. My husband had chicken verde. All yummy.

Yelp
Very good, authentic dishes. In and out with no issues. Margaritas are very good. Love the salsa. Thank you

Yelp
We enjoyed our first visit to Mas Amigos. The food was excellent. We had the Sonoma Tacos and Chicken Chimichanga. Both were tasty. The steak on my tacos was cooked perfectly and the chimichuri had a nice little kick. Our Server, Willy was terrific-very attentive and helpful. Overall, a great lunch.
google avatar

Vanessa G.

Yelp
Food was delicious - great guac, Mexican rice and charro beans! Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food came out in a timely manner. House margs were also great!

Ally G.

Yelp
So good! We got steak fajitas. No leftovers to take a picture Lol. Prices were fair as well

Yelp
I stopped here for business travel and it was great! The interior is clean and modern, the mango margaritas were delicious, and the staff was super attentive; the owner even came over twice to check in and say hi.

Suzie C.

Yelp
Absolute best birria tacos in town! Beautifully renovated location on Nollensville Pike. They have a wide selection of margaritas and beer. The service is fast and very friendly. So excited for a new restaurant in the neighborhood!

Kate O.

Yelp
I stopped by Mas Amigas on my way to another restaurant and am very glad I did. Francisco, my waiter, was charming, helpful, and knowledgeable. His recommendations for the birria tacos and tres leches cake were excellent but everything on the menu looked good. The drinks (paloma and house margarita) were tasty and strong without being overwhelming. The prices were also reasonable and reflected the quality of the food.

Beth B.

Yelp
Had the veggie fajitas. Very good mix of potatoes, mushrooms and peppers. Chips and salsa are delicious. I recommend getting the bravo green sauce. So yummy!

Yelp
Food was terrific! Traffic in that area is typically a challenge, and the service was average but friendly. Will go again

Yelp
Went recently and was very excited to try it. Everything was great. We sat at the bar and had great service. Food was very good. The salsa they give you is fantastic. We will definitely be going back.

Mandy G.

Yelp
Amazing place to eat close to the Zoo. Clean, authentic, and prompt service. Can't wait to eat here again!

Michael N.

Yelp
Good atmosphere. Got us started with chips and salsa of course. They were nice, thin, and crispy. Salsa was also good with a little spice. Unfortunately, wasn't offered a refill but that's not on them. Mango Margarita wasn't it for me, just very strong. I got my first ever Birria tacos so I'm no expert when it comes to their taste and quality. I thought they were a 3/5. My wife ordered the chicken chimichanga. If you like a bunch of meat in your mouth this is your option. I liked the restaurant, just not the biggest fan, but don't let my review stop you from going. I think anyone and everyone should try here at least once for the experience.

Che C.

Yelp
This place used to be called La Hacienda. Fortunately for me, they closed. Although my husband liked La Hacienda, I did not. I did not like the food. Mas Amigos renovated the place a little. Enough to give a different vibe; a better one. The food was really good too. The service was great (definitely much better than the service we got at Soul restaurant!). My nephew and his girlfriend are here from NY. The visit gave us the opportunity to try the place. The chips and dip were amazing. My nephew raved about the frozen margaritas. We enjoyed the plantains. Did I say the food was really good

Jason R.

Yelp
We've visited several times already. The staff is really helpful, the food is amazing and the owner is passionate about producing the best food and experience possible. It's quickly become our "go to" for Sunday evening Mexican and margs!

John M.

Yelp
Very good food, great service, nice people, child friendly and clean/new restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Mark T.

Yelp
I was thrilled with my visit to Mas Amigos last night. In fact, my third visit in the last 10 days. I can't say enough about the food it's authentic it's unique it's prepared to perfection. It is served beautifully and it's surprisingly affordable. if you go to los amigos, in search of the same old, same old Mexican food don't go because you won't find it there. not only the food is spectacular, but the service is top-notch as well. when you visit Mas Amigos, I would highly recommend that you order all of the desserts. They are absolutely over the top. The trace leches cake and the plantains, and the churros are all incredible. I'm a decent cook and I think I make a really good Tres leches cake, but although it is hard for me to admit the one at Mas Amigos is superior. Run don't walk to Mas Amigos.

Jayla C.

Yelp
this place was very cute and the aesthetic was very modern! food was alright.. i expected it to be a bit better. i got the birria tacos and they did NOT have enough cheese. the birria sauce had no taste and was bland! though me and my friends got one of each of dessert; being churros, fried plantains, and tres leches cake. those INDEED i will go back for! also their house margarita was delicious!

Rhett H.

Yelp
I have visited this restaurant 2 times in the past few months. The food is extremely good. I have order the birria tacos which were amazing, especially with the dipping sauce. The chips and green salsa are very tasty. Order the house made green hot sauce. It seems to be a Jalapeño Avocado sauce and is fabulous as an accompaniment to anything on the menu. The regular guacamole is kind of a miss as it lacks zest. Needs salt and lime. The second visit was this last week. I ordered beef fajitas which were perfectly tender and tasty, served with a ramekin of butter to pour over the entire sizzling platter. Absolutely wonderful. The house made flour tortillas were perfect. One knock on the place. The service... Oh MY !!! All 3 servers were parked at the end of the bar with their faces buried in their smart phones. Each of the 3 servers were oblivious to the floor. None were scanning the dining room to see if any of their guests needed anything at all. I could only get the lady to return to my table after trying in vain to get anyone's attention, when the cook came out of the kitchen to go to the bathroom, HE saw me waving and told them that I evidently wanted something. The boss needs to know this so the boss can straighten this out immediately. I will visit again, but if this disengaged service happens again, it will be my last visit. Five stars for food, 2 stars for aloof service. The servers can easily do better if they just simply pay attention. When we left, one of the male waiters was standing at the host stand clearly playing a video game on his phone. Nope.
