Where to Order Tamales in Oakland, Berkeley, and the East Bay | Eater SF

"A drive to Point Richmond is rewarded at Masa with 11 types of tamales including four vegetarian options and two dessert tamales (don’t miss the strawberry). The large tamales practically fall apart as they tumble out of the husk and that’s a good thing. The ratio of tender masa to filling is balanced and the price of $2 per tamale invites mixing and matching. Place Nochebuena orders as soon as possible." - Annelies Zijderveld

Good beer and food. Outdoor/indoor seating. Recommend specials(enchiladas, fish tacos) and ask what's NOT on the menu.

Casey

Google
Order at the counter and take a table. No awkwardness about it. They greet you right away and are very friendly. We ordered Al Pastor and Snapper tacos, chips and guacamole, heirloom beans, nachos, and each of their salads. They were ALL beautifully presented and equally delicious. The horchata was one of the best I have had. They're doing a great job! Would definitely go again and recommend to friends.

Google
Great stop after mountain, biking or hiking the backwoods and mountains of Fairfax just on the edge of downtown this delicious and well-known restaurant never disappoints. Sweet, mock tails of pineapple and mint breakfast burritos with a balance of potato and egg and veggies or enchiladas with chicken and Verde sauce. Mouth watering.

Google
I can't say enough about the flavor, quality, and freshness of this place! I love that the new owners are buying more organic ingredients and from farmers markets, and fine-tuning recipes to up the flavor and authenticity - you can really taste the difference! I just got back from Mexico and the tortillas had changed while I was gone; the hand made tortillas from corn ground daily were already very special, and now they taste like the real thing! I'm vegetarian and love the cauliflower tacos with a side of beans, and also love that they often have veggie specials (like last week's Mexican street corn fresh from the farmers market!), but I've heard good things about the al pastor tacos and chicken quesadillas, too. It might not be cheap, but it feels like a really good value for the quality you get, and nothing is cheap these days anyway (a salad elsewhere costs more than tacos and a side of beans here). Highly recommend!

Michael

Google
One of the best Mexican food I had in the Bay Area. Pork quesadillas, guacamole, and fish tacos were great. It is an all organic restaurant and you can tell from the quality of ingredients. The sauces they make are really good as well.

Google
Beautiful restaurant in Fairfax. Hard to imagine that a little town like that can have such a gem 💎 Beautifully designed space, with lots of lights and plants makes space for a delicious and healthy Mexican cuisine. Dishes are made simple, nothing extra and the balance of taste is perfect. The tortillas are made fresh using only organic non-GMO corn 🌽 following the more traditional way of preparing and cooking the mais. The difference is there to taste. Highly recommended!

Google
Mas Masa is an absolute gem! The food is incredibly fresh and flavorful—every bite feels like a celebration of bold and authentic flavors. The staff is just as wonderful, making the experience even better with their warm and welcoming service. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or a full meal, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend!

Google
Winner worst Mexican restaurant in Marin. Top it off with ridic prices. Up to 19 for 2 dried up mini tacos with nothing on the side. With the name of the restaurant you'd think it made good tortillas at least. Theirs are dried up rookie versions.

Yelp
So clean, so flavorful. A true gem in this world. Food is absolutely fire. The taste of true corn, and the Salsa and sauces each distinct and robust with chili and fresh flavors. The Al Pastor might be the best I've ever had. The pineapple, razor thin Serrano and the onions on fresh warm corn tortillas is a delight. Washing this all down with a ice cold beer. Great little tap selection. All local and fresh. Small little place great for lunch. Don't sleep on this place, very unique.

Yelp
Nice ambiance with outdoor or indoor seating. This is certainly inspired mexican cuisine, not near authentic flavors. The burritos are quite plain with only rice, beans and meat of choice (chicken is bland). The guac is lacking chunky real avocado and with the chips is sparse for the price. The al pastor was the better meat choice. The positives were the salad and horchata that were decent!

Rachel P.

Yelp
What a great casual, order at the counter spot! Really fresh ingredients and whole foods used. I had the three sisters salad (half; nice small starter size) and the snapper fish tacos. My husband had the chicken burrito. We had our 7 month retriever puppy with us out on the patio, dog friendly. The margaritas were good too, though just a tad sweet (perhaps they'd be able to make them skinny next time). Would return!

Yelp
Mas Masa is tucked away on Bolinas Rd. in Fairfax. Everytime, I visit all the employees are smiling and so happy- makes you feel like you are someone's home and always feel welcomed. I was forturnate to have met the owners, and both Karina and Ana are true gems. Everything is made from scratch - so fresh and delicious one could sit inside or outside. Some of my favs - the pineapple mint aqua Fresca - fish tacos- Birria Tacos- nachos with pulled chicken- beet tacos - quesadillas- galore!
google avatar

Joshua M.

Yelp
Easily the best nachos I've ever had, perfectly balanced with the right amount of layers. The tacos were good, although I wish they had more acidity perhaps some pickled onion or radishes. What did have acidity was the verde sauce enchiladas which were very good and tangy. I thought this was out of the ordinary in a good way. I'd want to come back to try their specials. The customer service was very good, and the ambiance was cozy and fortunately they had heat lamps for outdoor seating.

Yelp
So lucky to have this spot here in fairfax. Everytime we eat here we love the food, flavors, vibe. Takes us back to CDMX! Don't love the order first at counter, that would be the only thing I might change. Yes it's not inexpensive, but I can taste it in the flavors and ingredients. Always high quality, super fresh, super flavorful, and very kind. We love mas masa and are grateful for it being here in fairfax!!!
google avatar

Trevor O.

Yelp
Staff is nice. But we just waited 45 minutes for a to go order of nachos. And unfortunately they were nowhere near good enough to validate the price or the wait. If you want Mexican food in Fairfax, go to la hacienda. Save your time and save your money. Avoid this place.
google avatar

Barry B.

Yelp
Good service, good food, lovely outdoor seating. Quesadillas were great- loved the plain cheese and pork. Strawberry aqua fresca was delicious. The jalapeño salsa is amazing. Only slight miss was the grilled corn. It just didn't taste super fresh- like it had been in the fridge overnight.
google avatar

Yelp
To say 'I don't get it's is an understatement. The food here is 'alright' but worth $17 for two tacos? Not even close. You can find tacos with heirloom corn masa and sustainable ingredients pretty widely in the Bay Area, and some not too far from Marin. And you don't have to spend $17 to be locked into two of the same taco - you get to choose! The place is always packed so they are definitely meeting a specific niche, but for me this didn't scratch the itch of a satisfying Mexican experience. They're consistently out of al pastor and their quesadillas are never crisp.

Yelp
The cutest place ever!! I would literally recommend everything on the menu. Amazing service and vibes. The tacos and enchiladas are incredible. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I come here about once a month. Not thrilled on the visit today. Food is amazing, the beans remind my husbands of his grandmothers. Most staff is very friendly. Today I was met with a red haired women. She did not being out waters, slightly had a chip on her shoulder during all interactions. What set me off was when I was leaving I went up to the counter to get a to-go cup for my hot cocoa. She told me to go back to my table to pour it. I already had my toddlers and all of our belongings with us and the other waiter was collecting our plates off the table. That's the not how you interact with customers. Especially one that has wrangled her two toddlers boys (while pregnant) to tidy up the entire table so they didn't have a mess, walk to the front, and is about it to use the restroom. Have some CLASS AND DECENCY. Word of advice, drop the attitude at the door when you come to work or don't work where you interact with customers. That simple. I will be back here and I hope she's either found a new sense of joy for life or she's gone. Either work. Do better.

Yelp
Food: great Service: amazing!! I didn't give 5 starts because I went today and meanwhile paying my food that was 76$ ( aprox) the 10% of the tip didn't show 7.6$ ( the 10% of 76) but 10$ resulting in a check of 86$. Sadly, I've seen on social media that some business are tricking costumers by programing a higher amount in relation of the tip percentage that it shows in the c.c terminal I thought to complain but thinking that most likely the staff was not in charge of that I decided to do a review instead. Shame on the office manager or the owners that allow that. That should be illegal.

Charles B.

Yelp
I love the food here but they are sooooooooo stingy with their tortilla chips. One day I get a bag of 3 chips, the next I get told the restaurant doesn't give out free food. This place charges $30 for a salad but makes me feel like I'm asking for a handout when I ask for tortilla chips. Food is excellent, service always makes me feel like they're doing me a favor by serving me, and for the premium price I don't want to feel like a jerk for asking for chips.

Yelp
First the good: I liked the ambiance of the outdoor seating. Nothing fancy but it's a nice place to sit. The ingredients tasted fresh. We got the fish and pork tacos. The meh: I'm not a big eater but the portions were pretty small, especially if a man is eating these. Needed a side or something The taste was just ok. A bit bland and lacking sauce. Price was way too high imo, for what they served, especially since you walk inside and order your food yourself. I don't mind paying more if it's worth it but this place was just meh for me....
google avatar

Anthony B.

Yelp
Food is amazing and outdoor seating is lovely. Love all of the salads, particularly with an add of heritage pork. Strong guacamole. Refreshing agua Frescas. Love the healthy ingredients. Pricey for fast-casual, but (deep breath) it's worth it.

Rob E.

Yelp
Best (pricey) food in Fairfax, and worst service north of the Golden Gate. If you don't mind watching your friend finish their plate before you get yours, and then being served your beverage for dessert, this is the place for you! Can't believe I went back--chalking the first time up to a bad day for the staff--but then had exactly the same experience today. Five staff, plenty for the small restaurant. We watched our food cool down on the counter, as the cool young guy told the cute young girl about his . . .? Crazy weekend? Favorite tv show? Trees? We'll never know. We'll also never be going back.

Yelp
Solid spot! After moving from the city to the burbs almost a year ago, it's been less-than-thrilling to encounter a lot of the dining options across Marin, sadly. Mas Masa was a pleasant surprise! The ups: - house-made soft blue corn tortillas were excellent! Great size - not too big or too small. And so fresh and pliable, no awkward breakage two bites in. - grilled fish tacos: the fish was nice, good char and good portion. - Al pastor tacos: my husband said they're probably the best he's had in a while, he's a big Al pastor guy - the pineapple aqua Fresca was delish, though for 7.50 I probably wouldn't get it again. It's a $5/$6 non-alc beverage, tops. - nice outdoor seating area, well covered and we were able to arrive and sit immediately at 6pm on a summer Friday for dinner The just okays: - my fish tacos were GOOD, and I'd get them again, but I do wish they had something else going on- some sort of special sauce or maybe a bit more acid in the cabbage on top? I added lots of lime and some of their mild hot sauce and they were good, just wish there had been a little something special going on with them is all - the guacamole was mid. I honestly think I prefer the guac at Chipotle to this one. It's sorta over mashed/whipped and I have a personal preference for no tomatoes or big onion chunks in my guac. But both of those can be overcome by a more freshly mashed base, and this was just too puréed for my liking. We'd get it again though I'm sure just to bulk up the meal because two tacos alone are a bit scant for us. - would be nice if they had an add-a-taco option so you could get 3 if you wanted/needed one more vs another order of two

Tom G.

Yelp
Margarita was good. Burrito was mid, let's get some guac in there or something pls. Good ambiance tho.

Yelp
Really great chicken burrito. Chicken is tender and the seasoning is lovely. Too much rice in the burrito. The salsa is excellent. But if you ask for more salsa, they give you a bottle of some weird hot sauce. So ask for extra salsa when you order. Really annoying. Nice place, nice ambiance.
google avatar

Matt J.

Yelp
The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was excellent but the food was really lacking in flavor. The Three Sisters Salad and Mahi Mahi Tacos both lacked flavor even when we asked for extra vinaigrette and added hot sauce. The salad was also 95% kale and trace amounts of any of the listed fixings. With some tweaks it'd be solid.

Camille H.

Yelp
Mas Masa has hands down the best tacos in Marin. The environment, staff, and food all create an amazing experience to dine and hang out after long work days. Family friendly and great outdoor space for sunny days! Highly recommend!

shawn p.

Yelp
Fantastic attentive waitress and great food. The pozole was out of this world and perfectly matched with house made pineapple agua Fresca. The bill was pleasant surprise and the patio was dog friendly. Highly recommend!

Yelp
comida y cerveza SABROSA!! excellent service, fun setting and vibe, good music not too loud, highly recommend.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Marin. Lovely outdoor eating area. Warm friendly young staff. We live in San Rafael and frequently drive out to Fairfax just to go to Mas Masa!

Yelp
Let's start with very much needed credit: this staff busts their butts. Unfortunately, it's not enough and this place needs a serious management boost. The exterior and big open windows of this place lure one in. It's aesthetically pleasing and modern, with an open kitchen and table service. Seemingly simple fast casual food, with packed tables and crowds chirping. It wasn't until after I ordered that I realized the stress in the staff's faces, and that most of the customers appeared frustrated. For a restaurant concept that should be churning out quality fast casual cuisine, the order took well over 50 minutes to be brought to our table. The food had been sitting out (the sauce of my enchiladas was burned onto my plate from having sat under the heater for far too long), and worst: it was bland. Really, really bland. I couldn't justify the prices, especially with such good alternatives near by. This place has potential but needs some work.
google avatar

Sha G.

Yelp
A cute spot to enjoy lunch or dinner in Fairfax. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Beware, they close for two hours between lunch and dinner service. You order inside, then sit with your table number thingy and wait patiently for your delicious food. While you wait, you can decide if you want mild, medium, or hot sauce. You have to try some since it's house made. When your food arrives, you'll notice attention to fresh ingredients and details of love. Chef's kiss to the kitchen because they are making incredible food in a small space.
google avatar

Michael E.

Yelp
I had a chicken burrito here. It was pretty good, but i didn't like that they sliced it in half. It makes it harder to eat, but i guess it looks better on the plate?
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
This is the best Mexican restaurant I have been to north of Baja Mexico. Their food is organic and incredibly fresh and clean. I'm most excited for the fresh handmade tortillas. Delicious!
google avatar

Jay L.

Yelp
Food was spot on. Fresh tortillas and the food came to us HOT. The only drawback was having to order, find our own seating, and not having a point of contact. No biggie as we had a great time.

Marcelle E.

Yelp
Best ingredients, best dishes all so original, and cameron the host is AMAZING!! Love the atmosphere and entire staff!!
google avatar

Dee G.

Yelp
Hands down, the BEST al pastor tacos ever I've eaten! (my gf loved the red snapper tacos) We started with house made chips and guacamole. Pineapple mint and lime agua frescas... DUDE! If you find yourself in Fairfax, Mas Masa is a MUST STOP.

Evan C.

Yelp
I used to go here a lot. I live in Fairfax and try to patronize our town on the regular. After a long bike ride, I would stop and order the same thing. Two tacos, side of beans, and side salad. The meal made me feel completely recharged, food was great. Over time the prices have sky rocketed, so much so I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. I understand prices everywhere have increased, so I no longer eat here. Can't justify the cost. I make awesome tacos at home now, with beans and a salad. It's just a fraction of the price. Sad to say, but I no longer purchase anything locally from the town that I reside. Just too much!
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
Meh. The quality of food is good but it is expensive and the portions are small. We ordered drinks and food at the counter, the drinks didn't come until we were halfway through our meal and had to check on them to be told they were out of Sauvignon Blanc. In the end we bussed our own table -- and for this we paid an 18% tip? The outdoor dining space is pleasant enough, though.
google avatar

Wendy A.

Yelp
I had the good fortune to enjoy an amazing special: Pork Pozole of "Mexican soup with guajillo, hominy, heritage pork, radish, shaved cabbage, and house-made corn chips. I had the delicious house-made vegan horchata (toasted corn, rice, canelq, lime). Great staff. Wonderful experience.
google avatar

Breana T.

Yelp
I have repeatedly tried to contact management to address these issues before posting this review. They have ignored the emails and when I've called in they have never returned the calls as they stated they would. I stopped by your restaurant for lunch. And the experience was notably not good to the point that it felt deeply prejudiced. This was my first time returning since they had first opened years ago. My first experience was awful which kept me away for so long so I'm disappointed in what happened when I returned and felt compelled to share. I brought a friend in, no one greeted us, no one reminded us to order up front even if we were eating there. Even when I went up to the front, I still wasn't greeted, the person just stood there waiting for me to order. I asked for the seasonal Guava Margarita (listed on the menu), and was told they didn't have margaritas and she recommended the sangria. Sangria is not remotely close to a margarita, and I was clearly hesitant. Instead of offering a taste (which would have been excellent service) she just stood there and then let out a loud and exaggerated sigh as if to tell me to hurry up. I went with the blood orange refresco and tacos. When we got back to our table, my friend also commented on her rushed sigh. When my tacos arrived they were cold in some spots and had a very strong bitter taste. Almost like biting into the pith of a lime. They were hard to eat and I tried covering it up in hot sauce to hide the bad bitter flavor to no avail so I ended up leaving a whole taco behind. And at the highest price in Marin for tacos 2 for $15, that's notable. She didn't bother to ask if something was wrong when she cleared a plate with nearly a whole taco nor did anyone check in while we were eating. My friend ordered a burrito, then the same woman comes to the table to inform that they are out of rice and it'll take too long for them to make it so we would need to order something else. This is exactly how it was put to us. No option to wait, no time approximation, just "order something else" - instead she suggested the tacos with guacamole because it would be the "same price." The lack of awareness for any sort of customer service here was shocking. They were out of two things and as a Mexican spot to be out of rice is really inexcusable. Instead of apologizing and offering maybe some chips and salsa on the house for the inconvenience, she's standing there, no menu in hand to offer other suggestions, only offering tacos with guacamole "because it's the same price." She then came over several times at the end of our meal continuously interrupting us to pick up one glass at a time and saying "is there anything else" twice, again loudly, and in a demanding abrupt tone that made us feel very unwelcome and as though you were closing and we needed to leave. I have worked in the industry and she was doing all of the tricks we use when we want to turn a table. The patio (where we were seated) was wide open and they were 5 hours from closing. It's not like we were holding up a table that was needed for other guests. It was so bad that my friend, their first experience here, leaned over to me and said, wow I'm really uncomfortable, I think they want us to leave, do you get the same feeling? I felt someone should know because both of us still feel very uncomfortable about the unpleasant experience and absolutely no one from management cared to reach out.

Hadley D.

Yelp
We have been to Mas Masa in the summer, but last night we found ourselves wanting to sit outside with their excellent heaters and blankets. It was very cozy and they made a superior cup of tea! The service was fantastic-- kind, professional, and efficient.

Hilary M.

Yelp
I gave mas masa 3 tries and I don't like giving bad reviews but when I pay $26 for a quesidia and drink then you don't get a break. The heritage pork quesudia was horrible. Bland, full of gristle, the cheese was boring. Except for the handmade tortilla this has nothing going for it. Your high dollar Mexican food is a joke. I don't believe the good reviews. Yeech.
google avatar

Yelp
Wife and I shared the following, (all were delicious!): House Nachos Mushroom Quesadillas Summer Squash Tacos Plates are meant to be shared. Smaller portions, but quality of food was outstanding. We are from out of town, so most likely won't be back, but if we lived nearby, we certainly would!

stephanie m.

Yelp
I wish I could give them ten stars! We had a fundraiser and the food was catered by Mas Masa! The chef is brilliant and with our modest budget, she created a menu for us that was elegant and delicious! Everyone was so impressed! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I went to Mas Masa earlier this week and saw "Alaskan salmon" on the menu. Having recently returned from commercial fishing salmon in Alaska I was excited to try some of my catch. I asked the waiter what type of salmon were in the tacos interested if it was the species we were catching (sockeye). He said he would go ask the chef and when he returned, he said it was "Atlantic salmon". There is no "Atlantic salmon" in Alaska. There is no wild "Atlantic salmon" period. I let him know this and returned to my meal not wanting to waste $19 even if it was for dog food. The chef then had the audacity to send the server back out to tell me that the "Atlantic salmon was from Alaska". Excuse me... where in the hell is the Atlantic Ocean in Alaska. I have spent my past 5 summers commercially fishing salmon in Alaska. I can say with confidence that he was boldly lying to my face. Maybe next time you gaslight your customers, pick someone less informed (or without a middle school geography degree).

Yelp
Look at these ingredients: shaved kale, heirloom beans, roasted squash, corn hominy, and popped amaranth. I don't even know what popped amaranth is but it's been permeating my thoughts now for several days. Shortly after Mas Masa opened I heard someone describe their offerings in a way that made it sound as though their food was more healthful than flavorful. This kept me away for a good long while but now that I've been? It's healthful AND flavorful, so flavorful that you might be inspired to start dreaming about those flavors. That's the way I felt about my Three Sisters Salad (1/2 order $7.50 + $4 for Rosie Organic Chicken or Heritage Pork) which was quite fabulous, especially with the addition of some Housemade Pickled Vegetables ($5). The El Pastor Tacos ($12) are about as pricey as I've seen tacos get but it wasn't for naught. "These are really good" remarked my friend, enjoying his birthday lunch. You'll order inside at the counter where you'll marvel at the beautiful colors of corn in a bowl by the counter. The space is immaculate, befitting a place that prices their offering above others but provides a clean, appealing ambiance that's worth the price. The outdoor, dog friendly patio is where you'll eat. It's kind of the Fairfax experience personified, all of this natural, organic, and tasty food served in this pleasant space. You might want to linger but word is out. Mas Masa makes good food; there might be people waiting for your table. The only downside of Mas Masa is its lack of chips and salsa. I get it; it's not that kind of place. You can order chips to be consumed with the tabletop hot sauce but it's not the same as that usual bowlful of chunky salsa. Mas Masa isn't your average taqueria. They're selling something different, and equally delicious, and that's a very good thing.

Yelp
Beautiful outdoor dining area, delicious food. We ordered - heirloom beans: cooked in a nice broth, very tasty - sweet potato quesadilla: very fresh and sweet, can tell that the yams are from local farmers since it's so flavorful - Cauliflower Tacos: super fresh cauliflowers cooked to perfection - strawberry lemonade: was made from real strawberries - horchata: also fresh and delicious As you can see, we enjoyed everything we ordered, and you can tell the freshness of the ingredients. Or toddler very happy about the food too. Highly recommend. We'll be back.

Yelp
The service was horrible this past Saturday. We ultimately did not end up eating after waiting around for 30 minutes only to find a host refused to even speak to us about getting a table or taking our order. When we arrived, there was a table inside with a square reader where folks were ordering and paying. We went inside to order and were told to wait outside and stand behind another gentleman who arrived after us. Turns out, this was because the host knew him and wanted to spend 10 minutes socializing with him by the door before taking his order. We were told we would be next and the host would come out to bring us in. He did not, and proceeded to let multiple other customers in front of us who arrived after us. At this point, we let a server know and they finally ushered us in to order at the table. The host at that point says "I'll be right back," leaves the table, and does not return after another 5-10 minutes. We ultimately left. I do not know his name but he had an ear hoop in and brown hair. Personally don't feel he has any business being allowed to work there. The food looked excellent and my friend and I were quite disappointed that we did not get to try it.

Yelp
Phenomenal local fave. Fish tacos are a 10. All tortillas hand made on the spot with fresh masa.

H B.

Yelp
The food is made well and has good flavor, but the portions are extraordinarily small for what you're paying for. It seems like they portion things intentionally so you have to order a lot. By the time you order enough to actually be full, you've spent $50 on vegetarian tacos. I typically get the cauliflower tacos which are the same price as the tacos that have protein, and no protein is added which mathematically doesn't add up since cauliflower is not as expensive as meat. They could at least give you a side of beans. And I know the new thing is to charge a lot for guacamole but $11 for a small bowl of guacamole is a bit silly. I appreciate the quality and perhaps add some rice and beans to your meals so at lease customers aren't hungry after such a pricy meal.

Tea I.

Yelp
Surprisingly sparse servings. Two orders of fish tacos, guac and chips, one strawberry margarita, and one glass of wine = $90!!!! I ordered a "regular margarita," and the server had no idea what I was talking about. The tacos are just that. One tortilla with a little bit of fish and a cup of unseasoned, undressed cabbage, and a slice of lime. That's it. No beans, no rice, no salsa on the side, no nothing. Left still hungry and won't be back.

Yelp
We are new to the area and wanted to try Mas Masa since we heard it was popular. We had a bad experience from start to finish. When our drinks came out (1 glass of wine and 1 glass of sangria, $14 each), we noticed they were filled less than halfway (three finger pour). As we saw other customers receive their drinks, we became increasingly disappointed because their pours were almost twice as much as ours. I ordered the pork pozole (their special). It was only after we paid that they came and told us they ran out of the pork and asked to replace it with al pastor. This is not what I intended to order, as this change would affect the texture and flavor profiles of the soup. I wish they gave us an option to change or tell us before ordering. We then saw three different tables get their food before us although we ordered before them. It was clear the waitstaff forgot our order. After finally receiving it, the pozole was lukewarm and lacked flavor. The tacos were nothing memorable and expensive for what they were. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back or recommending this restaurant to others.

Yelp
I'm really impressed with how their menu has evolved. What we ordered was excellent. And, these have to be in the top ten of corn tortillas in Marin. Maybe the best! Also great environment, outdoor dining was pleasant, music was great, staff was friendly. Highly recommended

Yelp
This is my go to place! The food here is delicious!!!! I love how I can go to the counter and place my order and is ready in a timely manner vs having to wait on servers like at other restaurants. My son is a picky eater but he will eat everything here since it is jam packed with flavor. The guacamole and chips is a must!!! Also they have great outdoor seating!!! This is definitely our go to when in Fairfax.
