Why $400 Sushi Menus Are the New Normal in NYC | Eater NY

"For over a decade I observed Masa as the oligarch-friendly sushi destination that traffics in luxuries like ohmi beef and white truffle ice cream, and until recently it was the only local spot where a dinner after tax and tip topped $400; today it remains at the top end of the market—dinner at the solid hinoki counter will cost over $1,600 for two and now requires full prepayment." - Ryan Sutton

Sushi Hand Roll Restaurant Nami Nori Opens in the West Village, NYC | Eater NY

"I note that Masa is an extremely high-end sushi destination helmed by chef Masa Takayama; its omakase, famously priced at $595 per person, is cited as one of the most expensive dinners in the city, and Sakaeda spent over 10 years working under Takayama before helping open the more casual Nami Nori." - Carla Vianna

Today we had a pleasure checking out this amazing taco place. Wonderful young lady that took our orders was so lovely and friendly. Service was very good and inviting. Tacos were beyond delicious! Very clean modern interior. Will definitely be coming back.

Google
We ordered two different tacos, fish and grilled chicken. Also corn on the cob, and nachos. All the food was great. All the tacos had more meat than any taco we’ve had in recent times. The food tasted fresh and the service was quick. We went on a Sunday about lunchtime. Its was very busy and seating was limited, but we managed to get a seat. It’s a very casual atmosphere and a perfect spot for Mexican food. Indoor seating and four tables outside. We recommend it.

Google
The menu is very interesting and different. Nice that they had different and flavorful tacos. Very vegetarian friendly. 4 inch tacos for more than. $5, a little pricey, but they were very good. The staff were very kind and came to check on us frequently, and kept the small dining area clean. The small outside seating area is nice as well. I would go back and try something new. Nice to see a creative, new small business doing well, great to support them.

Seen this place on tiktok. Had super high expectations. I got the steak (carne asada) nachos. They looked really delicious on the top layer. Other than on the top of the nachos. The cheese was super clumpy & not even melted, through out a lot of the nachos. The steak (carne asada) was really dry also. I did have to finish my food fast. I aoso ordered the curro donut which had ice cream. Which they brung out within 5-7 mins of me getting my food. Therefore I could not let my food sit for a long time or I’d have melted ice cream. The cheese clumps definitely ruined it for me. The curro donut was really delicious. Other than that service was super friendly & atmosphere was great.

The way to convince a friend to go with you to a restaurant, tell them they have a Sangria flight. Yasss! The outdside is nothing crazy but those hand chairs for outdoor seating. The hands hold you while you grub! The employee making fresh tortillas and the smells will draw you in. We both got Sangria flights. I got the 2 veggie taco options/spicy elote and my friend got 3 tacos. Yay for vegan options! The Sangria flight was just too much for me. The sweetness was intense. My favorite taco was the cauliflower. The elote was okay but not very spicy. Overall average. Love the idea but the tacos were just okay! Maybe you might find otherwise!

If you think tacos are forever a meat-only mood, Masa Masa is here to slide into your DMs — politely, loudly, and with a wedge of lime. This small, buzzy spot somehow manages to feel like a neighborhood fiesta and a clever taco lab at the same time. 🌮✨ Now let’s talk the plant-powered goods, because yes — this place does veggies well. The cauliflower taco is fresh, crunchy, seasoned, and never boring. They clearly label vegetarian dishes and are happy to swap meat for beans on many options, so vegans and flexitarians can build a taco lineup that actually excites. The fried avocado taco will have you coming back again and again. 🥑 Sangria flights for sharing? YASS — maybe bring a friend who can handle the sweetness.🍷 Heads-up: it’s not a cheap street-taco truck vibe — the prices aim a little high but the flavors and portions make it work. Masa Masa treats veg options like headline acts, not afterthoughts. Bring an appetite, bring patience for a full house, and bring a friend to split a sangria flight. Worth the trip. 🌮🥦🔥 How I break down my ⭐️ reviews: 1 - Not if it was the last thing on DoorDash. 🗑️ 2 - Meh. Maybe if I’m close, and high. 😬 3 - Mid. Not texting the group chat about it. 🤷‍♀️ 4 - Hella solid. Planning my next visit. 😋 5 - Shut up! Take my money. Om Nom Nom. 🔥

Be kind & eat tacos! This spot truly lives up to their “be kind” motto. It’s one of my favorite weekly stops—I’m always greeted with big smiles and positive vibes. The quality of the meat is consistently delicious, and it’s something I genuinely crave week after week. Supporting them feels good, especially knowing the heart behind the business. I highly recommend checking out their website to read the owner’s story—it’s inspiring. I’m proud to support such a wonderful cause!♥️

Google
I came here when they first opened, and thought the food was just ok. It's a different story today. I came here last night and had to come back today because I was just blown away with how good it was. The Hot Chicken Taco is really really good, as was the lobster and pork belly tacos. Also, the queso is very tasty too. There has been a change and it is very noticeable! I do not live far from here, and I'm very happy to be able to support such an incredible local small business that cares about quality. "Be kind, eat tacos" is such a great slogan. Speaking of kind, Luis was the perfect example of just that. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. My wife got nachos and was not really happy with the amount of cheese, so when she asked Luis if she could have a bit more, he replied with such enthusiasm, "yeah, it's better with more cheese". I didn't even want to say anything about it as I'm always afraid to complain at restaurants, but he made us feel so comfortable and was so accommodating! Keep being you Masa Masa! 10/10!!!!

Yelp
Second time here the staff are so friendly and the tacos are amazing! They were a little busy and they ended up giving us a free churro donut for our patience which was really delicious as well. Will be coming back every time we are in the area.

Yelp
I've been coming to Masa Masa since they opened, and my original Yelp review must have been wiped out when I accidentally edited instead of updating it. Total user error, but I don't mind rewriting it because this place continues to impress every single time. Masa Masa is always spotless, bright, and welcoming. From the moment we walk in, the team treats us like family. The owners are truly community-focused and it shows in how they interact with guests, support local events, and stay hands-on with quality. We can eat here multiple days in a row and never be disappointed. The consistency is unmatched. The flavors here are vibrant, layered, and deeply satisfying. The proteins are always fresh and perfectly seasoned. The Korean beef deserves its own sidebar because it is honestly the best Korean flavor profile we've experienced since moving from the Bay Area. It's savory, slightly sweet, and incredibly tender with that rich, marinated depth you'd expect from a specialty spot in San Jose or Oakland. The chorizo is another standout. It has the same bold, authentic, perfectly spiced flavor we grew used to from traditional taquerias in the Bay, the kind of chorizo that actually tastes homemade. The pastor is juicy and aromatic, the hot chicken nails the heat to crunch ratio, and both the grilled and fried shrimp are consistently plump and flavorful. They also offer delicious vegetarian and gluten free options, all prepared with the same care and fresh ingredients. Portions match the price and quality every time, which makes the whole experience feel elevated and worth it. The staff always gives thoughtful recommendations, and their seasonal items are some of the most creative, craveable dishes on the menu. You can tell they put real intention into each update. Their drink lineup is just as strong. The microbrew beers on tap rotate with great picks, the homemade frozen sangria is refreshing and surprisingly complex, and the Mexican Coke in a bottle adds that perfect nostalgic touch. The homemade salsas are fantastic too. The habanero salsa is extra bright, fiery, and definitely not for the faint of heart. Masa Masa continues to be one of the most consistent, flavorful, and genuinely welcoming spots in Roseville. Fresh ingredients, amazing flavors, friendly people, and a place that always feels like home. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Cute neighborhood fast casual spot with bright decor, super friendly service, and pretty great tacos! Had the pork al pastor and Korean beef tacos. Both were LOADED, easily 1.5-2 tacos worth of meat in each. The al pastor was fantastic, with large chunks of pineapple and the right amount of seasoning. The Korean taco was a bit over on the sweet side. Actually tasted better on a salty chip than in the taco. Didn't keep me from scarfing it all down :) Wife had asada and carnitas tacos. The bite I stole from the carnitas was the best bite of the meal. Next time it's carnitas for me!!

Yelp
Right off the bat the manager, Luis, was SO welcoming, answered all our questions and helped us decide what to get based on the most popular items and their favorite as well. All the staff is genuinely friendly and seem to be treated well! The food was really good, we got the: Lobster taco 5/10 Korean beef taco 10/10 Shrimp taco 8/10 Fish taco 5/10 (a lil salty) Hot chicken taco 10/10 Split the elote (not pictured) 10/10 And the Luis comped the dessert for us (how sweet)

Yelp
This place is cute. The ambiance is very IG-ready modern, but it's not overwhelming. The service was super friendly. You order at the counter, but they treat you like you're getting table service. The taco and "not taco" options were fun and creative. I only tried the elote dip with chips, but my husband had a shrimp taco and pastor taco. He liked them a lot and the sauces were great. I liked the elote dip, but it was a bit sweet and onion-y for me. I really like the classic cotija and tajin mixture. I will try their actual elote on the cob next time ;-). The homemade horchata was really good too.

Yelp
We stopped in to Masa Masa for tacos while on the road and had the three plant based tacos: Tofu Al Pastor, Adobo Cauliflower Taco, and Fried Avocado taco, (all modified to be vegan, which we appreciated). We enjoyed all three of them, the tortilla was freshly made and each of them were tasty with the modified crema & hot sauces. The only recommendation we have is to chop up the cauliflower as a bite was into a chunky piece of cauliflower, it wasn't bad but we would appreciate the ease. Overall cute & clean place and great customer service.

Yelp
Small place in the fast growing west Roseville area. Tried the sweet pork belly taco and wow just wow it was bursting with flavor. Wasn't sure I would like the veggies in it but the crunchy pickled flavors were just perfect. Also had the fish taco and birria and both were good but could not compete with the pork belly. For dessert I had to try the ube churro and ice cream. The ube taste wise didn't do anything for me but sure did make the dish look pretty. Overall dessert is worth getting to top off a great meal. Service was friendly and price was very reasonable.

Yelp
All I am going to say is super 5 stars from service to food!!!! Their employees were super friendly and welcoming and to talk about their tacos *chef kiss*! We got to try carne asada, birria and fish tacos. All fantastic but we loved the birria tacos and it's consomé then fish tacos. The birria tacos was just packed with meat in a crunchy corn tortilla, creamy avocado sauce, super savory and with its salsa .. it was soo good. Definitely top 3 birria tacos I ever had so far. Fish taco- amazing presentation, full of veggies, super crunchy fresh deep fried fish, with a little squeeze of lemon ..just heaven! The carne asada taco was good but the other 2 overshadow it. Still good tho but again the other 2 was just way better. One thing that surprise me was their employees.. super friendly and welcoming! He even offered me to try their blackberry sangria. .. best sangria I ever had. Normally it tastes too much alcohol but this one just so good except a little too sweet but adding ice or diluting it will be great!! Definitely, coming back soon to try all its menu!! I am big fan!!

Yelp
Super fresh! Very friendly staff. They do tacos right! We enjoyed every bite they piled onto that corn tortilla. Try the Korean beef for a different twist on your taco experience. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Easy quick efficient ordering system and delicious food what else can a customer ask for! Stopped in a lite bite before heading out to see a movie and they did not disappoint. Their fusion tacos were such a hit I got the hot chicken taco, fried shrimp taco and an elote. The table also got chips and salsa chips were nice and crispy and the salsa had a nice kick but not overpowering. Do note inside seating is limited with a few outside tables.

Yelp
Whew! I'm stuffed. I had the surf n turf burrito and BWE had 3 tacos. We were both very happy with our choices. My burrito was full of flavor. The shrimp gave a nice bite to the burrito. From the smile on BWE's face, I know she enjoyed her food. Service was outstanding. We had questions and they had answers. Friendly and kind staff. It is a little small inside but that's not the restaurant's fault. There are businesses on both sides of the restaurant. We sat outside and enjoyed our food on a warm night. We'll be back because there's a whole menu to try.

Yelp
Masa Masa is a foodie destination for delectable and creative tacos. I enjoyed savoring all four tacos I tried: Hot Chicken, Garlic Shrimp, Quesabirria, and Fried Shrimp. Days later, I'm still daydreaming and considering going again to try more flavors. I held off too long trying this restaurant! Service was polite, helpful, attentive, kind and generous. Even though you order at the counter and the server delivers your food to your table, the servers will still swing by to check on whether you are enjoying your meal and they are observant on whether you need water or refills. I also didn't have to worry about them prematurely clearly my table while using the restroom. I just realized from looking at another review that I had interacted with the woman owner, Ashlie. Inside, the restaurant has 5 tables for 4 and one countertop table with 4 or 5 seats. Outdoor seating includes 4 tables for 2 with chairs that are shaped like cupped hands. You sit in the palm of the hand. Restaurant is painted in sunny, warm colors with wall murals (i.e., hummingbird). One room divider has yellow daisy tiles. According to the menu, these items are Staff Picks: * Fried Avocado * Pork Al Pastor * Hot Chicken * Fried Shrimp * Masa Masa Birria Crunch * Spicy Elote * Churro Donut * Frozen Sangria These are My Server's Favorite Tacos: * Hot Chicken * Korean Beef These two flavors were also often mentioned as favorites in Yelp reviews. The Hot Chicken taco was fun and enjoyable to eat. It has fried chicken pieces. It's not too spicy. These are other flavors Yelpers wrote about, which surprisingly included two Plant-Based Tacos: * Fried Shrimp * Fried Avocado * Adobo Cauliflower My server told me these were the Most Popular Tacos or Customer Favorites: * Quesabirria (Award Winner) * Garlic Shrimp These two flavors ended up impressing me the most. The Garlic Shrimp were sauteed and topped with mango chunks and cilantro lime crema. The Quesabirria Taco was the easiest to eat and also contained cilantro lime crema. However, I didn't love the raw onion in the bone broth consomme. I got to try all 3 salsas or hot sauces: 1. Salsa Verde - This green sauce was the mildest. I think it contains avocado. 2. Red Spicy Salsa - This was my favorite salsa. Medium spice level. You can see the spices in the salsa. 3. Habanero - This orange sauce was the hottest, but it's tolerable. I think I was overly cautious about it, so I didn't allow myself to experience it fully. All the tacos come packed and dressed with flavor already, so I didn't think adding salsa or squeezing lime juice or dipping in consomme was needed. Fried Shrimp Taco was the messiest taco for me with the corn nibblets. Squeezing lime juice on it also didn't help, along with my attempts to photograph it while holding it. Still fun to eat and tasty. Tacos are loaded with ingredients. I think 3 tacos would be a good portion size for me. Yelp reviewers also recommended the Masa Masa Birria Crunch, Frozen Sangria, and Elote. The Frozen Sangria is made with blackberry juice. It's like a slushie or granita. I was surprised by how large and heavy the fish shaped glass was. Cool and refreshing on hot summer days. I couldn't really taste the alcohol, which could be misleading but more enjoyable tastewise for me. On my 2nd visit, the manager Luis was friendly and helpful. I tried these 3 tacos: Fried Fish Taco - Fish is hiding among veggies and sauce. I'm not a fan of raw cabbage shreds. It's OK and my favorite that I tried that day. Messy to eat. Pork Al Pastor - I couldn't tell it was pork, which seemed overcooked. The fresh roast pineapple was the star. I would love just a side of that pineapple. Is there such thing as a Pineapple Taco? Korean Beef Taco - I didn't like the tangy sauce. I was hoping for the flavor of bulgogi or a sweet and spicy tteokbokki sauce. This loaded saucy taco was messy to eat. I would suggest bulgogi, a more leafy and sweeter kimchi, and a spicy cucumber salad banchan inside a leaf or bed of romaine lettuce, but it's already many customers' favorite as is. Masa Masa is located in the same plaza with Kitchen 747 and MoJoe's on Pleasant Grove Blvd in West Roseville. Their tagline is "Be Kind. Eat Tacos." Every taco flavor supports a different charity! https://www.masamasatacos.com/menu Visit Masa Masa soon and often!

Yelp
Good food. Wish the tacos came with some sides. The Elote is off the hook. But for those that don't like to get messy maybe have a cup version too

Yelp
First time here. Stopped by with my husband for a lunch date. 10/10. We also got the elote, and he got the chorizo burrito. Can't wait to come back and try more!

Yelp
Our favorite new place for quesabirria! A little on the pricey side but all the meat and flavors make up for it. It comes with consommé but it doesn't really need it. It does get a little messy. Definitely be back for more.

Yelp
Went in right when they opened up. It is a cute little spot. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I liked that the menu is small and straightforward. The hostess was great and nice and very cherry. She took our order as well as the one to come and bring our food. She would come and check to see how our food was and if we needed anything. The tacos are really filled up. The al pastor tacos were filled up and had lots of flavor. The carne asada was also filled up but was a little lacking in flavor. The elote was good and loads of flavor. I would just say that the prices are a little high but since they don't skimp out on the meat it was worth it.

Yelp
We stopped by randomly and were greeted by the amazing staff Luis and Ivan. Luis was so delightful and helpful in suggesting options both veg and non veg. We got 4 tacos and also tried the churro donut! Amazing decor and style, everything was perfect. It's obvious by the enthusiasm and drive for satisfaction and success that this business is hiring the right people. We loved their positive attitude and attention to detail. Thanks for making it a great evening and we will be back to try more. Definitely take a moment and sit down vs just getting take out. Solid tacos and very reasonable prices. Thanks again Luis!

Yelp
We went to masa masa for the first time for my husbands birthday. The food not only is beautiful, but is fantastic. The customer service is amazing and the staff was super friendly. The sangria was out of this world delicious. Prices were fair. Will be definitely coming here again!

Yelp
Celebrating Women's History Month, we ventured off to try this newly opened restaurant. Masa Masa is in the heart of the newly created lower part of Roseville, in the shopping center with other restaurants and businesses. The staff is super friendly, and the descriptions of all of the different items, will make you want to order one of everything on the menu. I think we practically did! We started out with the Elote corn. We didn't realize that it was one long corn cob, and they graciously split it in half for us! Major brownie points. The corn was tasty, but not anything exciting. It had far too much tanjine/spices, and definitely not enough of the creamy cheesy sauce that we all love on our street corn. The Chicharron taco, was not quite what I think either of us expected. The meat was overcooked, and far too well done to be enjoyed. Not my favorite. The sweet pork belly definitely had a great taste in flavor to it, but again, the meat was well done instead of being done well. The fried avocado sounded tasty, and I'm constantly in search of avocado fries. IYKYK. I was hoping that this would be comparable. It really ended up tasting like fried guacamole and a taco. Not bad, but not great either. Just far too mushy for the entire taste profile. I did love the base of beans in the taco. Those were tasty. The garlic shrimp taco was interesting, and I loved the variety of toppings. The MASA masa birria crunch stole the show. It's definitely a must try. Never in 1 million years I think that I would enjoy something that had hot Cheetos included in it, but this is absolutely a game changer, and I only wish that there had been more of those lovely crunchies to blend in with the tasty birria meat. It's absolutely a must try! The restaurant is relatively small and has limited seating both indoors as well as outdoors. Outdoors there are two tables with these really cute chairs that are shaped like hands. Inside you pretty much just have to grab a table after standing in line to order. They don't offer table service, but they do bring the food to the table for you. I love that this is a business owned by women, and proceeds from a variety of their menu items go to various community charities. So they really do give back to our immediate community. They have a great extensive menu, and I am looking forward to going back and trying some of their other items. Things that I noticed... They have a small station set against one of the walls, where the customers can pick up extra plates, cutlery, napkins, etc., and it makes sharing food enjoyable. If you do order a soft drink, there doesn't appear to be any refill options because the machine is behind the counter with the cashier so is pretty much one and done . The tables because they're such limited seating, aren't really cleaned off and cleared fast enough when there's a lot of people as there was when I was there. But you know what, one woman running the show, and someone cooking in the back and with all of that, they did a great job. The friendliness really is what Immediately endeared me to masa masa. Customer service has changed everywhere exponentially, but not here. And this is what will keep people coming back along with the variety of items on the menu.

Yelp
Every time best experience, tacos can't have better flavor , I love a good guacamole and at Masa is just perfect. Thanks for great food.
google avatar

Juan J.

Yelp
The place is a little small, so seating is limited even though they do have a little bit of patio seating. I tried the lobster, garlic shrimp, Korean bulgogi and chicharrones tacos. I was disappointed in the Korean bulgogi taco because it was kind of over the top with juices and stuff. I've had way better. The chicharrones tacos were amazing though, I'd go back just for those. Not really an authentic taco place, more of a fusion taco spot.
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
The Surf & Turf Burrito was very well balanced nothing was too over powering of each other. Just the right amount of juicy shrimp, carne asada, queso and the green and red salsas were perfect! Yum! If you like spicy salsa they have a yellow Habanero salsa that hits in all the hot places. For how good this place is, unfortunately it has a small eating space, only downfall but because the food is really, really good I would come back.

Yelp
You know that feeling when you're SO hungry and you're just waiting in anticipation on when your food will arrive and yet it feels like the wait service is taking forever? That's what it felt like at my first visit at Masa Masa, but at the end of it all, the food was SO worth the wait. Friends & Family...come try Masa Masa, it's worth the hype! Ummm, hi...Fried Chicken Taco?! 5 stars looks good on you! The crispy, crunchy flavors exploded in my mouth like Fried Chicken Fire Works!!! I was full but I was temped to order another 2 additional tacos for dinner tonight. Don't judge me :P Heyyyy, Pork Belly Taco?! I almost cried tears of joy as the juice from the pork belly dripped down my fingers, but I quickly liked my fingers because I wasn't going to waste any driplets, no way baby! I wanted every inch of this taco in my belly, which looked like a pork belly after devouring my tacos ;D I do wish they had a bigger eating space because this place is NOT good for big groups. Other than that, I am a huge fan of Masa Masa, I want more-a more-a of it really soon! Mhmmmmmmm!

Yelp
Hello Tacos! [Roseville CA] I have been wanting to try Masa Masa since they opened their doors in April 2024 to their Grand Opening (after opening very quietly and "soft" for the last couple of weeks prior). Well, I finally did it and now I regret not coming here sooner. I came here for a lunch takeout, it was an opportunity while I was working from home one day. Inside is small and cozy. The restaurant was busy but I was the only one in line. This is a counter service restaurant so I placed my order at the register... 3 Fish Tacos, please. The sweet gal at the counter was very friendly and helpful. I asked how long it will take... "around 15-mins". She sensed that I didn't have a lot of time. I waited outside in their clever-designed table seating and in less than 10-mins she handed me my order of fish tacos. Yummy and delicious... beer battered mahi mahi topped with pico de gallo, slaw, and red chili crema. She gave me 3 types of salsa from mild to hot. My daughter and I shared the tacos. Located in the WestPark community. Supporting women-owned business... Review #3682

Yelp
I consider this to be a more upscale taco place. Interior is cute and super clean. You walk up and order at the counter, then take your number to your table and they will bring your food to you. Ashlie is super nice and covers all the bases here. On this day for lunch we shared: Mulita with chicken - it was good, but a little difficult to pick up as it lies flat on the paper in the tray Al pastor - just ok in my opinion. Seemed to be missing something (in my opinion) Korean beef - this street taco was exceptional. Tons of flavors melding into a great experience. I am really impressed to see that a portion of the proceeds go to various charitable organizations locally. Makes you want to support their efforts here. Spreading kindness through good fresh food.

Yelp
Best Street Tacos in town. Had the Korean Beef, fried fish, and Pork Belly. All were wonderful. The place was nearly full by 11:30 on a Tuesday.

Yelp
I really wanted to fall in love with Masa Masa, and I appreciate what they stand for--kindness, community, and fresh, high-quality ingredients. Their mission is something I'm always happy to support, and I encourage everyone to check out their website to see what they're about. I ordered two avocado tacos, and my wife got a fish taco and an adobo taco. Everything was good, but unfortunately, it fell a bit short. The seasoning was noticeably mild (we had to ask for salt), which seems to be a trend in Roseville--many restaurants tone down their spices, likely to cater to a less melanated clientele. It wasn't bad by any means, but it also wasn't something that would bring me back regularly. What I did appreciate: They have a few vegetarian options, which is a huge plus! That actually earns them an extra star from me. Other Notes: - Parking: 10/10 - Located in a shopping center, so plenty of space. - Ambiance: Small restaurant, and seating was a bit iffy, but I was glad to see them busy! Overall, I'm still happy I spent my money at a place that stands for something meaningful. I'd recommend trying it at least once--you might love it more than I did!

Yelp
Let's start off with the awesome customer service! Staff were really attentive, kind and friendly. The store is small but vibrant. Tacos were great but the churro donut stole the show. Highly recommended for an easy lunch or dinner place. I will definitely be back!!

Yelp
We visited the restaurant for the first time because we wanted to taste a new option in taquerias. It was a great experience; from the entrance we were attracted by the atmosphere, the attraction of the Lady making the dough tortillas and the "Excellent" attention of Luis recommending us the tacos de birria, al pastor y carnitas, the dessert of curro-donut with vanilla ice cream made our experience unforgettable and eager to return. Their very affordable prices, the taste of exquisite food and attention also Annie marked a great impact on us. We will be back and would highly recommend this excellent option.

Yelp
This rose to number one for me for the Best taco in town. Tortillas are freshly made, fresh ingredients. Awesome taste. Personal faves are the Quessabiria and chicharones taco.as well as their elote. The staff and owners are friendly , always around to check on you. Only 8 tables though, so it gets full when it's busy. But certainly worth the wait. Always clean and lively decor.

Yelp
Masa Masa is beautiful, clean, has lovely staff and kitchen staff that make the place feel extra warm. The restaurant always smells good. Their food is unique and always tastes great. I love it here!! It's worth driving from where ever you are to try it.

Yelp
I ordered three tacos, each with its own unique twist and charitable cause. The Fried Fish Taco featured beer-battered mahi mahi topped with pico de gallo, slaw, and red chili crema--proceeds support the National Marrow Donor Program. The Lobster Taco came on a cheese-crusted tortilla with sous vide butter lobster, pickled red onion, guacamole, and chipotle aioli--supporting WEAVE Inc. The standout was the Quesabirria Taco, an award-winner made with slow-braised beef and Monterey Jack cheese, topped with cilantro, pickled red onion, and cilantro lime crema, served with a rich bone broth consommé. Proceeds from this one support Gigi's Playhouse Sacramento. Each taco was served on a 4-inch tortilla and packed with flavor. Honestly, these were some of the best tacos I've had--easily better than Nixtaco. Every bite was better than the last. I can absolutely see myself coming back again and again. Absolutely delicious! While the food was excellent, the service flow could use improvement. I noticed food sitting under the hot plate for several minutes before being served. It seemed like the front-of-house staff needed more support. Some customers received only part of their order while others at the same table waited. To-go orders were prioritized over dine-in orders that had been placed earlier, which caused some confusion and delays. You order at the window, and the venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Even at 3:30 PM on a Sunday, the place was packed, which speaks to its popularity. There's only one unisex restroom available. Parking is shared with other food and retail shops in the area, so it can get a bit crowded.

Yelp
Great fast service! It is very cute and clean. We enjoyed the tofu Al pastor, carne asada, garlic shrimp, hot chicken, and Korean beef. My favorite was the tofu Al pastor and husband's favorite was the hot chicken and garlic shrimp. Looking forward to coming back and trying their michelada .

Yelp
Absolutely the best tortillas, hand made and delicious, light and fresh tasting! I loved the cauliflower taco, I think that is my favorite taco. I also had the carnitas street taco. Delicious as well. The staff is so friendly, the place is spotless. Most of the time you have to wait for a table, but we lucked out that night. It was about 5:30, so I guess we beat the others and it also was a cold night out. The white wine sangria (with blood orange that night) was so delicious, I want to go back just for that and the cauliflower tacos! Will return soon!

Yelp
Great service. I do think certain food like the burrito bowl could use more flavoring but overall their food was very delicious. I highly recommend the queso and chips.

Yelp
After three previous attempts to eat here but was unable to secure a table because of the crowds, Barbara S. and I finally scored a meal on a relatively quiet Tuesday night. Everything is a la carte. No combo meals with beans, rice, tortillas, etc... So we order 2 tacos, elote, & a mulita. Hoping that it would be sufficient calories to satisfy our hunger. (Skipped lunch). The food quality report is positive. Corn tortillas taste light lively and fresh. Fillings are spiced just right. Mulita (basically a sandwich that uses two fried corn tortillas instead of bread on each side) was quite tasty without chili fire. Barbara likes the cauliflower taco. Elote corn cob was mediocre at best. Skimpy corn, with tiny size kernels. The spice mix though close to other far superior elote I've had elsewhere was packaged and weak tasting. Didn't help that the corn cob was room temperature. Barbara had the wine sangria. She liked it. Looks fancy with the 2 orchid flowers floating on top. I've been carousing far and wide lately to find the best tacos in the Roseville / Sacramento region. Have found several that are wwwwwaaaaaaayyyyyy more satisfying than Masa Masa. My favorite so far are at Bambie's Tacos in midtown Sac. Bambie's is a dive worth a 25 minute drive to enjoy their wild and wacky take on Mexican chow.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this place! The tacos are absolutely delicious especially the fried fish taco, carnitas taco, Korean taco, and fried chicken taco. My other favorites are the elote corn, the Masamasa birria crunch, and the churro donut. The staff are so nice and attentive so it's always a pleasant experience and it's super clean.

Yelp
Six dollars for a taco my guy. Vegetarian? Doesn't matter. Six dollars. The pricing here makes no sense. When you walk in you're greeted with the smell of masa which made me happy....then I looked at the menu which made me unhappy. I came here specifically for the birria crunch which again is still on the pricey side, but eh...everything is expensive now at restaurants thanks Gavin. My friends got tacos and nachos. At $6 after tax and stuff, I can say that the tacos are loaded well with meat, but then they only give you one tortilla. They should give you two tortillas so that you can get a second taco with your spillage. Also how does a deep fried avocado cost the same as a serving of pork belly? Or better yet, how does it cost more than chicken? Not that I'd ever get anything vegetarian anyway, but it's crazy. The Birria Crunch is every fat stoner's dream. The hot cheetos provide the "crunch" and I'm pretty sure I've made something like this when I used to get high everyday. A true gut bomb. You can easily split it with someone and have a nice sized snack to hold you over for a few hours. Staff was very nice and friendly. Food overall was OK. Nothing to write home about, but the value is terrible. Would I go again? Nah. Would I go again if someone wanted to try it...yeah I guess.

Yelp
Rating: 4.9/5 Masa Masa has officially become my new favorite taco spot! From the very first bite, it's clear they're doing something special here. Every element--tortillas, salsas, meats, and toppings--is made fresh and from scratch, and you can absolutely taste the difference. The flavors are bold, vibrant, and perfectly balanced--each taco is a little masterpiece. The service is equally impressive: warm, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. You can tell the staff take pride in what they do, and it shows in every interaction. The only reason I'm giving this a 4.9 instead of a perfect 5 is simply because the space is tiny with limited seating. It's a cozy setup, which adds charm, but during peak hours it can get a bit tight. That said, I've been fortunate enough to find a seat each time I've visited--thankfully! If you're a taco lover, do yourself a favor and get to Masa Masa. You'll be hooked.

Yelp
The restaurant is quite small, so it may be hard to find a seat. The inside seats about 26 people and the small patio outside seats 8. You order at the counter and seat yourself. I ordered the fried shrimp and Korean beef. The tacos were quite loaded and I wished there was an extra tortilla. I liked the pickled cucumbers and carrots which added crunch to the Korean beef taco, but the meat was salty. I enjoyed the crispy shrimp more. The tacos also came with three types of salsa. The habanero salsa was the best. To end the meal, I ordered the churro donut for dessert. On the menu it's priced at $9, but it's actually $6. I liked the cold ice cream with the warm donut. The donut was also crunchy. I enjoyed the food overall, but as others have commented- pricy.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! There were some technical difficulties with Uber and my catering order. It was a bit of a fiasco, but Luis and Annie were incredible through the entire process - helping me, answering questions, etc. Ben was friendly during delivery and very helpful. BEST TACOS!! Quesabirria

Yelp
I'm so glad I stopped by on a whim to give Masa Masa a second go. I was pleasantly surprised to see a larger menu than on my first visit- the addition of rice & bean sides as well as more "not taco" options. I really enjoyed the veggie tostada as a light lunch and will happily order it again -probably 2 or 3 for a meal. Chips & salsa was on point. The place was just as cute, and crowded, as ever. The service continues to be exceptional.

Yelp
Love that this restaurant is woman-owned! The place is small but the ambiance is nice. The service was very pleasant and the workers were enthusiastic. The food came out quick. Definitely recommend their homemade horchata. Chips and salsa were tasty. Tacos were different in a way I haven't had before! I'd definitely recommend the garlic shrimp and al pastor tofu. Although I was not a fan of all the tacos flavors, I'd definitely recommend you at least try this place. Next time I come, I will try the fried shrimp and fried fish. I may try other things on the menu as well.

Yelp
some of the best tacos I've ever had (quesabirria, lobster, fried shrimp)-- full of flavor and perfectly cooked! The service was amazing from start to finish, and the free dessert was such a sweet surprise. Highly recommend this spot if you want great food and even better vibes! #tacoTuesday

Yelp
Bold flavors! Fresh ingredients! Generous portions! Lovely service! Masa Masa is everything you could want in a local restaurant. We've visited twice and have tried a dozen different things and are very eager to work through the entire menu. And we're bring back out-of-town guests!

Yelp
I've been several posts about this restaurant so I was expecting a lot. It did not disappoint. Every taco we tried was excellent. The combination of the crunch of the meat with the contrast of the fresh vegetables was great. The chips and salsa were also very good. Save room for the Churro Donut. The service was good and the staff were all friendly. I
