"Masa, the oligarch-friendly restaurant that traffics in ohmi beef and white truffle ice cream, was, for over a decade, the only local sushi spot where the price of dinner, after tax and tip, exceeded $400." - Ryan Sutton

We have gone to Masa many times and have never left disappointed. The food is always extremely flavorful and nice portion sizes as well. Sushi menu is one of our top 3 in Tallahassee without a doubt. If you've never been you should try it. You will leave very satisfied. 👍💯🎯

Google
Alright Thai/sushi restaurant with a full bar and indoor and covered outdoor seating options. The lunch prices are all quite reasonable and the portions large, but overall the food was only alright. The sushi was pretty decent.

My friends and I recently visited Masa for a girl's night. Our waiter was Dominic. We were extremely impressed by his service, especially with him being on the younger side. Service in restaurants has drastically declined over the last few years, but you guys are blessed to have Dominic at your establishment. The ambiance was beautiful, the service was perfect, and the food was phenomenal!! The bean sauce for the Edamame was used for all of my food. It was that good. I will definitely be coming back!!

Masa is a Tallahassee staple and brings back fond memories of being romanced by my now husband of 12 years... We started with coconut soup which was full of curry flavor and hot and sour. This stayed in the lanes and was mildly hot and mildly sour but was chock full of shiitakes tofu bamboo shoots with good flavor and a noticeable shot of sesame oil. We shared a very generous portion of green curry with tofu. Couldn't finish it between the two of us. But we tried! We enjoy the outdoor covered seating, the friendly service we get everything, the generous servings, and the pure flavors. A Lucy Ho classic in her series of successful restaurants. Update 2025: Masa has become a favorite again. The properly cured curry in the Singapore Noodles. This overlooked dish is one of my favorites and I think this is the best in town. And a beautiful presentation on the lunch Chirashi.

Went here for dinner with my mom. She had the seaweed salad for her starter and ramen, with duck, as her main course. I started with the Thai Coconut Soup (which was AMAZING) and had the Pad See Ew for my main course. We both felt our main courses were just ok and agreed we wouldn't order either if we came back again. Our server was very friendly and attentive to keeping our drink cups full. The atmosphere was very warm and calming. Would definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

Google
Soy Ginger Cod over baby bok choi; overcooked fish served a side of hard and old rice. 🙁 Spicy Tuna roll was inedible; little fish with too much sriracha. Honey Walnut Shrimp ordered spicy; received not spicy but at least edible. Best thing about the meal was the shrimp tempura appetizer and that’s setting the bar low. Floors were sticky and couldn’t even move some of the chairs. Had to ask for drink refills. The atmosphere was decent. The service and food were subpar. Ample parking. Had great hopes for 1st (and last) visit to Masa. The food at Little Masa is much better. Go there instead!

Google
Great quality food that is very affordable, love their happy hour offers. We don't like their pad thai but they have a ton of great dishes. One of our favorites is their Szechuan chicken with mango sauce 👌 Portions are generous. Service always great!

Laugh,Relax And have fun!!

Google
This place is my #1 go to now. The food was A-MAZING. The service is excellent JADE our waitress stayed on top of EVERYTHING. The food is exquisite and well worth the money. It wakes every taste bud up in your mouth. The sushi is made to order. I recommend everything on the menu everything. The prices were very reasonable. The place was clean. The management LOGAN was very welcoming. Now I see why they have so many awards. OMG THE Desserts are amazing. I couldn’t put it in there because I didn’t eat it at the restaurant but when I got home I nearly died. SOOOOOOOO DELICIOUS I’m on my way back. AMAZING

Lucinda C.

Yelp
I highly recommend the food we had the Miso soup, along with the Rainbow Roll and Dirty Harry Roll, they were awesome! The customer service was perfect, if you eat there ask for Amelia.

Alli J.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite sushi places in Tallahassee. I have been coming here since before I moved here. I love their outdoor seating area. They have fans for the summer and heaters for the winter. Some of my favorite rolls are the Viva Tally, volcano, and red dragon. For appetizers, I love their edamame and the black bean sauce. It's a great spot for birthdays and even for meetings. They have an eight top table that's tucked away for a moderately large party. They also have a bar area. They have weekly specials like tuna Tuesday and BOGO on some of their beverages during happy hour. After dinner you can go right across the street and walk around Lake Ella. Worth a stop!

Matthew W.

Yelp
Their food is great here. Their service is great here there California roll great Their crab Rangoon is great

Yelp
Masa used to be good, but they are phoning it in these days. I ordered the thai spicy basil fried rice. It was sooo bland. The chicken was unflavored and tasted like it had been boiled, killing all the flavor. Same for the veggies,, bland boiled flavor and there was no melding of flavors, as if each vegetable was boiled and stored in separate vats until moments before they assembled it. Spicy? Not in the least (it's in the bleeping name!!!). Maybe the sushi is still good ‍

Chelsea H.

Yelp
Update: came back! We literally stay on Monroe when passing through Tallahassee now just so we can get masa. Tried the vegetarian dragon roll this time...

Pat C.

Yelp
I ate at Masa on the recommendation of a friend who "heard" it was good. I was sadly disappointed with the whole experience. I ordered spicy seafood fried rice. It was terrible! No spice at all. The salmon, shrimp and scallops were breaded and tasted old and stale. Perhaps they were freezer burned. No debate, it wasn't fresh seafood. The fried rice was lukewarm and tasteless. The bok choy and mushrooms were better. Definitely fresh and stirred fried lightly, but the dish was under seasoned. I asked for soy sauce just to give it some flavor. A big red flag - my food arrived in less than 10 minutes of ordering. I think many dishes are prepared ahead, like the fried rice. Not prepared to order. The wine glasses are tiny. If you want really good Asian food, pass this place by.

David K.

Yelp
Food and service were great!! Visiting from out of town looked it up online, did not disappoint.

Brooklyn N.

Yelp
There was an extensive menu, including a separate gluten free selection with numerous choices. I tried the Singapore rice noodle, which lacked a description. I took my chances, but it turned out to have an overly strong curry flavor and a grainy texture, so I returned it. My mom ordered tofu pad se-ew but received shrimp; it was decent but lacked flavor. The edamame was inconsistently salted, and the California roll had an unusually pungent fishy taste. The food quality disappointed, but the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was quick.

Melanie r.

Yelp
Excellent, quality food with great flavors. The mai tai was delicious and this is coming from a picky drinker. Great service, table layout and atmosphere.

Barbara J.

Yelp
Tasty food, good location, great restaurant service, I truly recommend this restaurant to anyone

LaDray G.

Yelp
I'm the universe of Asian fusion, Masa is it's own, unique star. The atmosphere is always very calm and welcoming even when there is a large crowd. The food serves up in every way as there is nary a bad choice that you can make on this menu. If you are in Tallahassee and in the mood for Asian fusion, Masa we meet the mark, every time. A must try!!!

Ria L.

Yelp
Service was great! Pet friendly. We enjoyed a light dinner with miso, edamame and rolls. Seated right away. Good rolls.

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
One of my favorite asian fusion restaurants in Tallahassee! Our server Sarah was so helpful & sweet and service was quick. Favorite day to come is for Tuna Tuesday - all tuna sushi rolls, appetizers, and entrees are discounted! Favorite rolls are the Crispy Spicy Tuna and the Hot Mess Roll

Joan R.

Yelp
I love the grilled salmon salad. The customer service is great. I highly recommend this place

Shawn V.

Yelp
We were in town and this place had good ratings so we decided to give it a shot - we were not disappointed! We ordered: a 'Hot Mess' sushi roll; a 'Wasabi Tuna' roll; a 'Volcano' roll; Thai Coconut Curry with chicken; Pad Se ew with beef and an order of fried calamari. The ease of placing our to go order was appreciated. When we arrived we were immediately greeted and directed to the area to pick up our order. There we were immediately greeted and paid for the order. While the attendant was getting our order (it was prepared and ready exactly as promised) another staff member checked to make sure we had been helped. While I would not have been surprised by that level of service three years ago, it is almost unheard of post Covid. The order was prepared exactly as ordered which again is more the rarity these days. It was all hot and fresh. The flavors were all really good to say the very least. We would definitely order everything again possibly with the exception of the fried calamari; it wasn't rubbery like some places serve it, so that was a plus - it just lacked any real flavor and was just a bit overly deep fried - probably would pass on that next time. Overall we were extremely pleased all the way around. We may go back and dine in as the restaurant itself also looked and had the feel of a nice restaurant!!

Yelp
I am not a Tallahassee native. I love good sushi. After trying multiple places in Tallahassee, I have found that this place is the best around town. We usually go on Tuesdays for Tuna Tuesdays and get multiple rolls to split. The spicy tuna roll, crunchy tuna roll, tuna lover roll, oh can't forget the dirty harry roll (so good). Not to mention, the tuna tower is awesome. A waitress suggested trying it with wonton chips, which was a good suggestion. My daughter loves their chicken and broccoli kids meal with lo mein. The cocktail drinks here are also a plus! We have never had bad customer service, and everyone is always friendly. Overall, It's a great spot.

Paul C.

Yelp
Great food, large portions and good staff. Was able to sit quickly and served right away. Would recommend.

Kristen S.

Yelp
Amazing sushi!! We got takeout and everything was great. The person who answered the phone was very friendly and helpful - as was the girl who gave us our order at the bar. Seems very nice inside. We will definitely be back for dining in.

Katherine F.

Yelp
My Husband and I went here for his birthday, and we loved it! We got the cream cheese wontons & volcano fried oysters for appetizers, two sushi rolls - Hurricane & Shrimp & Salmon toll, two of the express platters (at lunch it was buy one get the other half off!), drinks, and a dessert. The "Great Wave" was amazing. We were able to get all of that for under $100, and it was a quality meal and experience. We will definitely be returning, and I highly recommend it to others! *** I'm still leaving a 3 star, instead of 5... because the food and service was delicious... However- My Husband and I both got food poisoning from here. We woke up in the middle of the night in sweats and sick. Very disappointed the day after his birthday, we are both sick. I noticed this has happened to others, so please... Take note, and fix the issue before it seriously hurts someone. Thanks. ***

Yelp
Met my friend here for lunch at her suggestion. Our server was very attentive and was able to answer my questions regarding a couple of the menu items. I was excited to see lamb chops offered for lunch and did not hesitate to order it. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly and appreciated that they put the curry sauce in a separate dish instead of pouring it in top of the chops. Everything in my bento box was good except I was disappointed in having frozen veggies instead of fresh. My friend also enjoyed her mini chirashi which was why she wanted to eat here. Good call.

Daniele T.

Yelp
Friends and I had a brunch date with Brie as our server. She was so kind and patient and we had the absolute best time!

Labrawn S.

Yelp
Pretty good sushi for a college town. Food came out pretty fast and service was great. My waiter Gaby was fabulous.

Kayla M.

Yelp
I loved my food I got here, my husband not so much! I recall the service being slow but it was very busy and they did the best they could! The atmosphere and ambiance were out of this world!

Kim K.

Yelp
Always pretty good, but I wish the portions were larger. $50 did not send me home with leftovers. The plum wine was amazing, the sushi was okay and the wontons were basic. Server was great, so it was worth it.

Dianne P.

Yelp
Sunday evening get together with sushi lovers! It was happy hour so there was $2 off rice on the outside rolls. The triple eel roll was great and I've forgotten what I had. For dinner, I ordered the rib eye and it was very good. My son ordered a chicken dish and requested "as spicy as you can make it". Didn't disappoint. The seaweed salad was excellent. Fast forward a few months - it has been a while since I've been to Masa. I'd forgotten how good this is. For an appetizer, I ordered the tuna tartar with and it was delicious. My son ordered the coconut soup Thai hot and enjoyed that. He also ordered a sushi roll that looked amazing. I ordered spicy schezwan dish that was just amazing. This was a great trip, our service was wonderful and we left fat and happy!

Michelle W.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The food was very tasty and came out quickly! We ordered the mushroom with garlic pepper sauce and chicken (5 - excellent), seafood tempura with sweet potato fries (my MIL'a concoction - she rated it a 3), crispy spicy tuna roll (4 - not spicy at all), and the new California roll (3.5). I also really enjoyed my Masa Mule. Portion sizes are large, so the price point is very reasonable. Restaurant has very nice atmosphere and the service was excellent. Jade was very friendly and prompt, and was awesome with my 3-year old. I will definitely keep this restaurant on my list for future visits.

Ryan S.

Yelp
This is King Joseph, we told him we didn't know what we wanted and he reassured us he was gonna absolutely blow our minds with his sushi creation. King Joseph expertly hand crafted one-of-a-kind sushi rolls and truly made our customer experience as special as the rolls he made us. Masa needs the JoJo roll to say the least. King Joseph is an astounding creative genius behind the sushi bar.

Don N.

Yelp
4.5 would be a better rating) Went there for my wife's birthday (and I even brought her along). Atmosphere and service was very good. She ordered a crab salad - which was HUGE - along with their lobster roll. Needless to say some of the lobster roll came home in a doggie bag. Her comments were thumbs up and 5 stars. I ordered dumplings (potstickers) and the Panang braised beef. The dumplings were ~ok~ - nothing to write home about, but the beef was tasty. It was lacking something that I just can't put my finger on. It was also just the slightest bit dry - so 4 stars. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been there.

Paige S.

Yelp
Greta date spot! Only tired the sushi but it's great! I like bar area seating! Check for specials of the day!

Theresa L.

Yelp
I did order through Uber eats so I got this delivered. I thought the food was ok. I started with the spring rolls and it didn't seem to be cooked all the way inside. Seaweed salad, and the pineapple chicken fried rice. It was ok. Maybe they are better known for the sushi.

Dawn O.

Yelp
I haven't been to Masa in about six years and decided to go with my partner who had never been! We had the pleasure of having Kadi as our waitress. I don't think she could've been anymore delightful! (Maybe, she's pretty cool.) We ordered two Asian white peach sangrias, lump crab and cheese wontons, the Ichiban roll, the sashimi dinner, and the chocolate molten cake. If you haven't had wontons with real crab in them before, you're missing out. Ichiban roll was delicious. I'm a sucker for shrimp tempura, eel, and avocado. The sashimi dinner was divine. Nothing like melt on your mouth sashimi! If you haven't learned to appreciate sashimi without dipping it in a sauce, I highly recommend it. We ended our night with a chocolate molten cake per Kadi's recommendation and she made it look extra special for us! After having not returned to Mass in many years, I'm more than happy to come back soon just because of Kadi!

Payal P.

Yelp
This is our go to place for sushi and cheese wanton. Always amazing food and service we always get the Dirty Harry. The hot mess with cold crab mix added on top is our new 2nd fave! The mango Sake wasn't worth it.

Nataliia V.

Yelp
This place deserves a Michelin star Will definitely recommend it to my friends and will come back here again!

Kelly M.

Yelp
Got the lunch express platter that was like $13 but came with so much food and was so good. I got the sesame chicken which was delicious even as a left over and my bf got the teriyaki chicken which came with less and was not all that. The chefs side I'm pretty sure was from a bag of frozen veggies but hey it is what it is. I would definitely come back here

Michael M.

Yelp
This is my nth time and my first review (I thought I have done it before). Tofu coconut curry: 5 stars. As always it does not disappoint. I order takeout and the flavors were good but the sauce's texture was a tad off for me. Since I always done-in, I assume the vapors of the packaging changed the texture. Crunchy mango chicken: 3 stars. First time I ordered this food. I am confused with this dish. It is not crunchy at all so I was disappointed by the lack of texture. Flavors were good and it tasted like sweet/sour. Next time I done-in I will do a repeat. Maybe the steam of the food inside the container took out the crunchiness of the breaded chicken. Also, the mango chunks were very big (four total). Suggestion, cut them in 1/8s so for each bite you get a mango piece.

Wiliam S.

Yelp
First visit to this restaurant with family. Great sushi, extremely fresh and well prepared. Service was good. the server was attentative. Sat at the sushi bar, which provided great ambiance.

Broderick B.

Yelp
Came during graduation weekend, was pretty busy. Drink took a while to be served and so did the food. My edamame was served lukewarm and I did not finish the bowl. The waiter also noted when serving me my sweet and sour chicken that the rice would be coming soon, as they were plated separately. Waited 20 mins for my rice so that I could eat it with my chicken and, the rice never came. My Mai Thai was pretty good though.

Ace L.

Yelp
Food was good and the fried fire oysters was fyeeee and the sushi was great also nice spot to eat and relax and the drinks was good as well

Tyler K.

Yelp
IDK man. Heard about "Tuna Tuesday" and my girlfriend and I were excited to go try it out. Nice decor inside and very date vibes. As for the food... Originally we looked on yelp to see the tuna tuesday menu and as, ballin on a budget college students, we're so happy to see $3 sushi! unfortunately, that post was from 3 years ago and they doubled the prices :( We got the spicy tuna roll, tuna roll, and tuna lover to start. Granted we did not except the most high quality sushi but the tuna looked slightly pale and not fresh, as well as leaving a sort of metallic taste in your mouth (wouldn't be complaining if it was $3 but $6 for a 6 piece roll, was not impressed). We were left still unsatisfied and decided to try out the chicken pineapple "fried" rice. "fried" because you might as well advertise it being white rice. It tasted very bland with what looked to be something I could've whipped up in my kitchen in about 5 minutes. On top of that, there was an interesting sauce that came on the side which I think was supposed to be a "yum yum" sauce? more like UH-UH sauce! (pictures attached, little bit left of the "fried" rice but pretty much sums up the whole dish) On the more positive side, the staff was very nice and the service was surprisingly very quick. Will not be taking my girlfriend back until some improvements are made and inflation stops...might not be back for a while lol.

Lexi H.

Yelp
Have been here countless times and never had something I didn't like. I have tried quite a few of the sushi rolls and appetizers. Service is always great and food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. Best sushi spot in Tallahassee!!

Boon C.

Yelp
Masa is well established in Tallahassee. The stand alone building with great seating area with interior or outdoor is great to have good time. It is close to downtown and has it own parking lot. Lunch special is affordable. The menu has great choices. I started with smoke calamari salad. It has good mixture of green. It definitely have enough calamari for two people or more to share. My entree is the mini Chirashi. It is assort sashimi over rice. I got the sushi rice. The assorted fish is fresh and good enough size. It also come with some veggies, masago, and egg. It is a good dish and I would recommend for lunch. Service is good. The food came out quick enough and not much of wait. They have enough help and you don't need to wait for short lunch time.

Tiffany B.

Yelp
I have heard great things about Masa and decided to give them a try. Sadly, i am not in a hurry to return. Service and cleanliness was great. We were seated right away and our drink orders were taken quickly. We ordered the crab wontons, Philadelphia roll and shrimp tempura roll. I was not a fan of the wontons but my daughter liked them! She had no problem eating them all! I was looking forward to the shrimp tempura roll, but sadly it was inedible. The coating on the shrimp was soggy. There was no crunch to the tempura at all. I've never not finished a sushi roll before, but there's a first for everything. I order the bacon and scallop fried rice. I know fried rice is supposed to be eaten together, but I am such a scallop fan I could not wait. Unfortunately, they were inedible. There was absolutely no color to the scallops. No sear. No seasoning. They seemed to be just microwaved and put on top. There is no way it was cooked with the fried rice. My husband and daughter enjoyed their pad Thai but it wasn't memorable. I'm glad I tried Masa but I would not run back.

Sandy R.

Yelp
Delicious drinks! I couldn't decide if I wanted to start with the food or drinks. The drinks were something I didnt expect to be beyond amazing but they were. Super delicious and classy. The food was great, I had to go on a Monday and Tuesday because I wanted to try more in their menu. The place is cute and classy. Date night material.

David S.

Yelp
Attended for girlfriends birthday - big 21! Unfortunately she was not carded, this allowed for Sake bombs. Which is basically a shot in beer.... I could pass on that next time. Now let's talk FOOD. The beef potstickers were a party pleaser. The crab cream cheese balls were a no-go. For main entree, I recommend the mango chicken or if your feeling a kick to the pallet try out the coconut chicken curry. Both great options. My only drawback was time... but to be fair, we had 7 people at the table. Would definitely recommend. We will be back.

Jack F.

Yelp
Let's start with the positive, we were a party of seven that came here to celebrate a birthday and we had a lovely server who was just great all around. The food however, was almost all bad, very very bad. The one bright spot was the calamari appetizer which is more of a salad as the fried calamari was served on a bowl of greens, nonetheless pretty darn yummy. Two in our party played it fairly safe by ordering pad Thai, which tasted like the noodles came from a stale three year old forgotten box at the bottom of a dusty pantry and to then was over cooked in a bland ketchupy sauce. I couldn't even go in for a second bite of what the first confirmed to be awful. I ordered the red curry duck which came out minus the red curry sauce on a mound of pale beige canned pineapple. Rather than crisping the fatty skin they opted for slightly roasted more gummy fat layer. My wife ordered shrimp curry and truthfully stated that she could make better curry at home. Hers is in fact way better. Similarly, my daughter's ramen order fell very flat being a quite bland bowl of loveless broth. The worst bit may have been the side order of fried rice, because something so simple and basic ought be hard to ruin. They did. I'd bet that the vast majority of FSU kids could bang out a better fried rice than this ugly bowl of mess that tasted like they took the leftover white rice off the plates of the customers from last week and splashed on some fake soy sauce and then after not bothering to stir and even it out, just nuked it in the microwave. We left happy to have experienced a truly uniquely bad meal.

Caitlyn B.

Yelp
I love Masa! But today was my first time doing lunch there. They are open until 2:30 for lunch with a bunch of lunch specials. The portions are great sized. I got two pieces of salmon nigiri and the Thai coconut curry bento box. Also I got a pot of oolong tea :) Our server was Kyle and he was so sweet.

Linn Z.

Yelp
Went for tuna Tuesday (GREAT DEALS). I got two tuna rolls and two pieces for tuna nigiri for only $12. The rolls were small, but cannot complain for only $4. Tuna Tuesday is definitely a day you do not want to miss!! 10/10

Richard R.

Yelp
I think they forgot to cook our takeout meal. The bacon and scallop "fried" rice is just white rice with undercooked scallops and bacon. Basically inedible. $23 for this is awful.

Luz Elena L.

Yelp
Great Service and Food! We will definitely come back! We had the Shrimp honey walnuts and was delicious and our 6 years old son had California Roll and Miso Soup

Tanya K.

Yelp
Excellent sushi, excellent dinners, great service, great menu selections, and clean restaurant. I highly recommend this place.
