The Newest Restaurants In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Masala Fusion Restaurant in Old City offers a variety of Indian dishes, including garlic naan, chili chicken, samosa, and Kashmiri lamb shank, which can be enjoyed on-site or taken home. The restaurant is open until 12am on most days (except Mondays, when it’s closed), so it’s a new option for a late night when all you want is to have biryani on the couch." - candis mclean, alison kessler

One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve visited! I ordered the lamb chops, chili paneer, cauliflower Manchurian, and Hakka noodles — everything was absolutely delicious, just like it looks in the picture. The prices were very reasonable, and it’s been a while since I’ve had Indian food this good. Highly recommend it — you’re going to love it. Excellent customer service, and they’re open late too! The flavors were bold and authentic, with the perfect balance of spices in every dish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed. The ambiance was cozy and clean, making it a great spot for both casual dinners and special outings. I’ll definitely be coming back!

A really great Indian restaurant that seems a bit new. There was no wait which was a nice surprise. Our waiter, Dev, was super helpful and friendly. He offered to guide us through the menu in case we were new to Indian food and made sure we didn’t order way too much. The samosa chat was banging. All the dishes were flavorful and well liked. The food came out quickly too. Mugali was a new dish for us and it was a nice surprise. Bangan bartha was also a new try and a big hit at our table.

Finally, Old City has *good* Indian food again! There's been a serious lack of it since Makhani closed during COVID (Kurry Shack just didn't cut it), but those days are over. I've only been once, so I haven't been able to explore the full menu yet, but I'm looking forward to it: this is going to be one of my go-to places, for sure. Food and service were excellent; ambiance was fine (although I personally am not a fan of the sticky vinyl-like table coverings). A good place to dine in solo, or for lunch; I don't know that I would take a date here for dinner, unless they too are big fans of high-quality Indian cuisine. Now we just need to make sure they stay in business: I'm definitely planning to do my part...

Wow, absolutely delicious! Loved this place and loved the food. We had a delicious dinner here in downtown Philly. The flavors were spot on. This spot is absolutely adorable and located in such an aesthetic neighborhood. We tried a variety of chicken and paneer dishes, and every single one was fantastic. Everything was packed with flavor without being overwhelmingly spicy—something that’s surprisingly hard to nail, but this place does it perfectly. The garlic naan paired beautifully with the butter chicken (our toddler devoured it!). The staff were incredibly kind and patient with her—we’re truly sorry about the broken bowl, and deeply touched by your graciousness. We loved our visit and can’t wait to come back!

We were looking for another Indian place but it was closed so directly across street we found Masala Fusion. The waiter Dap was super helpful and friendly. The food was delicious! He said they’ve only been open 3 weeks. They are gonna do great! I judge an Indian place by their vindaloo and theirs was delicious!! We also had the veg simosa

Felt like I was having a meal in India. The music was great the food was great and the server was very attentive and explained any questions I had about the menu. Definitely recommend. We had their paneer tikka masala and their chicken tikka masala with their garlic naan and it was all absolutely delicious. I ended the meal with their mango lassi which was super yummy.

Yelp
Last weekend was our first time at Masala Fusion. We shared the Samosa Chaat and my husband had the lamb saagwalla. I had the paneer tikka masala. We loved the chaat and I really liked my tikka masala. The only thing I would do differently next time would be to get it "mild" instead of "medium" spicy. The service was efficient and friendly. I even enjoyed seeing Indian music videos on the wall screens.

Yelp
I'm belong to North India and my entire family is Foodie! We were visiting Philadelphia and did a lot research before choosing our restaurant. Seeing such great reviews on Google, we decided to eat here. Honestly, it was a disappointment. We are vegetarians. We ordered Hakka noodles and chili gobhi cauliflower. This was not bad and kids enjoyed. Getting excited about the food now.. ordered regular stuff, malai kofta (was mediocre) , paneer tikka masala (filled with color and sweeter than butter paneer), dal makhani (was a disaster, so sweet?), dal tadka (was decent-could be better), garlic naan (in spite of telling him to make thin and crispy, it was thick and mediocre again), I liked the veg biryani (finally I liked something) We couldn't even think to try dessert. I would not recommend! Sorry boss Service was ok

Yelp
What a great addition to the neighborhood! The food was crazy good. Highly recommend the wings, shrimp til tikka, samosa chaat. The lentil soup is killer and loved the tandoori chicken salad. Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed!!

Yelp
Excellent in depth flavos with well balanced heat. Outstanding sauces. Try the Shrimp til Tikka....the heat , flavor and crunch is perfection. The Sammosa Chat, the perfect balance of texture and flavor.. The Lamb Mugali ..very very good, tender lamb and the nut curry is remarkable. The staff is friendly and infomative. This is a neighborhood gem.
