Yelp
Masala looks great on the outside. It is a nice big building that looks clean and elegant and service staff are friendly. However, at the end of the day, when you go to eat at a restaurant, the thing you care most about is the food, and it is unfortunately very lacking here.
Food: Ordered their chicken tikka masala. Came in a bright orange plastic-appearing sauce with a few chunks of dry chicken breast and a small pile of rice. I had to order a piece of naan to go with it on the side, since the dish doesn't come with it. I was apprehensive upon seeing the off-color of the sauce. Despite the awful appearance, somehow the taste was even more disappointing. It was simply... bland. As if there were no spices or seasoning at all. There was no crushed onion, tomato, or herbs in the sauce. No complexity to the sauce at all. Just a liquidy, bright orange, flavorless sauce coating a few chunks of dry chicken. If you mixed together heavy cream and ketchup with nothing else, the result would likely be very similar to what I tasted here.
Service: Waiters were kind and service was reasonably quick.
Ambiance: Decor and atmosphere were excellent, which is the only thing keeping the restaurant above 1 star.
Overall: Would not recommend. They fall flat on what matters the most in a restaurant - the food.
