Mascot Brewery and Restaurant - Toronto

We passed by Mascot Brewery during a recent visit to Toronto and enjoyed a quick round of handcraft beer on offer. They have a neat little basement level seating area along with a few tables outside. During our visit we enjoyed their draught wheat beer as well as a can of Its A Stout by the Kensington Brewing Co. Service was friendly and timely, prices just fine. Nice vibes with Mascot Brewery. Would be happy to return for another round during future visits to Toronto.

Stellar fries and deep fried Bang Bang Cauliflower, they are SOOOOO delicious. Bigger than perceived portions, so tasty and served by all the friendliest of staffs. Paired really well worth the New English Lager. Very relaxed, fun atmosphere.

Little hidden brewery on King St. The entertainment district. A good place to rest if you walk too long, waiting for the show or just friends to chat. Since we have early dinner, we have try their food, the beers are so refreshing in the hot days.

We came here after work for drinks and saw postings about a happy hour, but there’s no happy hour anymore. Old posts on their social media don’t apply anymore but overall, the service was fast and got a bit busy once we were seated.

Their Wednesday wing deal is great! Their standalone beer menu is very diverse and definitely serves something that will appeal to everyone’s palette. Great place to chill with co-workers or friends after work.

Tried a few beers here and a burger - nice to have the selection of beers to choose from as someone who enjoys beer a lot. The burger was better than I expected. The place was surprisingly crowded when we came in on a Tuesday evening. We booked a reservation and got a booth which was ideal. There’s a lot of seating just in the middle of the dining room, and it does get loud so it’s nice to be able to have your own corner. An hour or so later, the place emptied out quite a bit so maybe they were in for a game/ show or something. I will say there’s a lot of items on their menu from both a drinks and food perspective that is discouraging and makes the place feel mismanaged. For instance, when we came in we were told that their salmon, octopus, and another mushroom dish was not available. I also asked for a rice lager which they said wasn’t available. Keeping up with stock of what you’re advertising on your menu is always ideal.

Got lucky to attend mascot brewing on a walk-in for two. It was very busy and staff seemed like they were slammed but they handled us at the bar well. We enjoyed a juicy J IPA and two smash burgers. Smashburger’s were great. Fries could’ve been a little bit hotter, but seasoned well. Seems like a fun place for a gang, but would definitely need a reservation for that.

We came here as a team of 7 after work and we sat outside. Their patio is nice to enjoy a drink. I tried the devil cocktail and it was good, their fries also was ok but could be better for that price. their menu, however, doesnt have a variety of options. Their cocktail menu as well is not really varied. The staff was nice and friendly as well.

Otherwise, there were spots along the many main and surrounding streets, some nearby structures, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A cavernous interior with a main bar and stools, plus a ton of places to sit. I never made it outside where apparently there was a beer garden. Minimal natural lighting inside and of course a ton outside while electric ceiling lights filled in both areas. Super fun and bright inside. The staff was super friendly and provided great recommendations. The drinks were delicious. Plenty of seating and not too loud. You're able to hear your friends while engaging in conversation. I would come back

I think it was Nora's first day on the job, either way she was an awesome hostess and wonderful to interact with. We had originally tried another restaurant it it was an hour wait on a Friday night. This brewery really did a fine job with brews, appetizers and main entrees. I had an issue with one of my meal choices and it was returned without any issue. The cocoa stout was delicious. Our group of 4,with a variety of food interests,vegetarian, non drinker, ipa lover and only dark beers made this restaurant a fantastic choice to cover all the bases. Reasonably priced in a city of a 1000 restaurants we really enjoyed our visit. The place was clean, welcoming and of course I thought the beer was excellent! We liked the shishito peppers, the bang bang cauliflower and the fries. All very good. The smash burger was great, the Mac and cheese was excellent and enough to share. If you are in TO you'll want to visit here. Ask for Nora, she is a gem!

Stopped for a drink after being at a show. Lots of seating with very friendly staff. There is a good selection of beer and I couldn't choose! We shared a flight of four different beers. If we had more time, we would've tried more.

Stopped by for team lunch. Sat on the patio and there wasn't much service - quite slow with the food. I had the chicken katsu sandwich ($14) with the side salad ($7). It was pretty tasty and filling. The tacos looked quite sad and my colleagues said the other food was just meh.

We met here as a big group and they were able to accommodate us pretty easily. We all just got drinks and enjoyed it, the vibes were good, and I liked our server!

I hadn't planned on taking a Tuesday off just before Christmas. To make a long story much shorter, my flight got cancelled on Monday night while fully checked in at Minneapolis-Saint Paul airport. I flew back on Tuesday, with a revised set of flights that now included a stopover in Chicago before getting back to Toronto. Running on little sleep (naps on both flights were helpful), I got into Toronto at 1 pm. I was ready for lunch. I headed to Mascot Brewery. The day was still young. After fetching my car at my workplace and running one errand nearby in Mississauga, It was now closer to 2 pm. I took my time heading over to Mascot Brewery. It's located across from Roy Thomson Hall in the theatre district. It opened at 3 pm, so I got there shortly after that time. I parked in a lot across from Roy Thomson Hall on Simcoe Street. Forgetting to wear my toque and mitts, I walked a bit faster to get to Mascot Brewery. You basically go downstairs to access the place. It does not have accessibility in mind for those in wheelchairs or require help getting between floors. I was greeted prompted by a nice man. He said that I could sit wherever I wanted. I sat in a booth. I got a flight of beer. I rarely have beer on a weekday. I might as well give it a try on my unexpected day off. The beer varieties that I consumed were the following: - Link up - A rye-based IPA that had refreshing grapefruit and stone fruit. - Screwface - India pale ale, with notes of pine, grapefruit, and blackcurrant. - Chocolate daddy - A stout with a blend of roasted barley, chocolate malt, malted oats, dark chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit. - Haze IPA - Fruity! Freshly squeezed fruit with fruity hops, and sweet malt. My server's favourite was the haze IPA. I'd have to agree with him. It was smooth and the fruity flavours woke both me and my tastebuds. However, I loved everything about this flight. Link up was a subtle version of the haze IPA. It was enjoyable because I like fruity notes. Screwface was yummy. I am a huge blackcurrant fan and you could taste it in every sip. Chocolate daddy was like a dessert beer, if that even exists. The dark chocolate and chocolate malt made me drink the beer more quickly than I had anticipated. Naturally, I needed food with my beer. Downing beer on an empty stomach didn't feel right. I ordered the following items from their menu (scan the QR code to bring the menu up on your phone): - Lemon pepper wings - Maple butter carrots There were truffle fries on the menu. I would have got them had I not seen maple butter carrots. The food here is excellent! Both items came out at the same time. The lemon pepper drums and flats are huge here. You get generous lemon pepper seasoning on them. If you are a fan of lemon pepper, you won't be disappointed. Each wing has a ton of flavour. The meat is juicy and done perfectly. You do get ranch dressing, and a few hot and spicy veggies (green bean, cauliflower, and more) on the side. The different flavours worked so nicely together. I have heard of maple-glazed carrots. However, maple butter carrots intrigued me. They were delicate carrots with maple and butter glazing them, topped with thinly sliced green onions and crumbled goat cheese. One word: outstanding! It was such a creative, yummy side. It had a subtle sweetness. The carrots still had a bit of crunch, but roasted nicely. The goat cheese added a depth of tartness and tang that contrasted well with the carrots and maple butter glaze. Such a unique offering! I may need to try replicating this dish at home soon. I got a Diet Coke after I had finished my beer flight. It came with a lime wedge. It was delicious and refreshing. Washrooms are at the back of this establishment. All was great. No complaints. I had a great late lunch with beer at this eatery. It's a nice addition to King Street West. Elephant and Castle is a few doors down. It's nice having choices for good beer and grub here. (12)

Very good brewery. Good prices, great atmosphere, and excellent service. I was about to stop by with several friends and enjoy a few hours.

One of a kind beer. I tried a flight of 4 beers and all of them has different layer of taste. All has certain level of grapefruit taste and I like Haze the most. Other friends like Screwface which has more beer taste. Linkup has lesser grapefruit taste and still very good The food is also good and good price. Crispy waffle with spicy crispy chicken. Mascot fries has lot of beef with fries and sauce. Wings are good too Servers are very friendly and the food comes quickly.

Stopped in for a beer. Bare bones, but good beer selection. Had a Jucy J IPA and watched baseball on the tv with my dad. Good beer and a good vibe!

I am from the Pacific Northwest and I am a IPA person. All the 'west coast' IPA on the menu shouldn't be branded as west coast IPA. They all lack the bitterness and hoppiness. Out of the 3 IPA, I like Juicy J the most. A pretty drinkable IPA, and very fruity. The other two IPA, couldn't remember the name, made me question whether my taste buds were screwed or their definition of west coast IPA is different than mine. One of the IPA tasted like a more alcoholic cider.

Long story short: Prime location on King, friendly staff, and relaxed atmosphere brewery with great craft choices! Long story...long: Had a flight of craft beers. Haze IPA, Chocolate Daddy, Link Up and Screwface. All interesting and fun to try, but the Link Up (Rye IPA) was a hit! The menu is small and modest, better than a pub, but not too fancy. I also had a black current cider/wheat. It was sweeter and recommended by Molly and she was right! Delicious! The place is clean, not crowded, and I loved the window to the brewery with its blue lab light. Got a great booth next to it. The staff are kind, personable and attentive, they're a good reason to go back. That, and I want to try their food - especially the bang bang cauliflower! Great atmosphere, I highly recommend a visit!

Amazing selection of beers I specifically liked the juicy j had a really good taste and the chicken Katsu was perfect the breading on it tbh was really good and the chicken was so juicy and tender and the customer service was fantastic

Wandered in here while biding time before the Jays/Yankees game. It's pretty close ~5 minute walk. We really wanted a good beer, and that's what we got! We tried the DIIPA Frost Hammer and the Juicy J IPA. We liked them instantly upon trying. We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and the Smash Burger. They were both really tasty. We only got one side of fries and for a big eater and a normal eater, it was enough. The place was not real busy for a Tuesday at 5, we sat at the bar and got service really quick. This will be our new go to spot when attending a game a Rogers Centre.

Came here on whim after a work dinner. Great location and you can either sit in a swanky beer hall, or on the patio. Lots of beer options obviously, and everything I had, the pilsner and the pale ale were great. They do food here, but kitchen closes before the beer closes, so if you're looking to get some fries or something come earlier.

An interesting underground space that has a surprise patio in the back. They brew their own beers but also carries other craft options. Food options are a little limited, but does have interesting twists on old classics. Service tends to be a little slow, as one server is hustling to cover one large area by themselves. We got our drinks without issue, but had to actively flag down our server after she walked by us several times without stopping. For food, we had the Bang Bang Soft Shell Crab and the Eggplant Fries. The eggplant fries were an unexpected delight. Crunchy, great texture and satisfying but without the oily feeling of actual fries. The soft shell crab was an interesting find on the menu and we had to try it. It was lightly battered so that the crab flavor still shined. However, I found the amount of ginger in the slaw overpowering for the dish.

My friend and I chose this place by random on a Saturday evening for dinner. Fortunately, we were able to get a seat by the patio- our table was a wood barrel and our seats were stools. We thought it was cool! There was a DJ playing various songs nearby, which was cool (music selection was great) and difficult (couldn't really have a conversation with my friend as the music was loud) at the same time. A young friendly waitress helped us to narrow down our choices. We ordered waffle fries, Mascot smash burger (deluxe), and Fried chicken sandwich. -Waffle fries- SO crispy, almost like chips! -Mascot smash burger (deluxe)- My friend said that it was so-so. -Fried chicken sandwich- The chicken breast was lightly coated in batter, then fried. Every bite was delicious! I had a hard time eating it as I had to try to move closer to the barrel (table) to eat it without dropping it. This place also has a great selection of alcoholic drinks, if you enjoy exploring your taste buds by drinking! Tips: -Make a reservation in advance, so that you can get a table (bench seat) towards the back of the patio. It would be more comfortable to sit, easier to have a conversation and eat/drink. -If you're a party of two, you might end up sitting by the table (barrel). As the chairs are high stools, it would be difficult to sit comfortably and eat/drink if you're short (I'm 5'1"). Give this place a try!

Kristen, the general manager at the King Street location, is beyond a superstar. I have had the pleasure to work with Kristen for two years to book large parties during TIFF. Last year we had a party of about 30, this year we have about 45! We all know who stressful planning for big events but Kristen definitely helps alleviate some of the stress from even planning. Kristen is always prompt to respond to emails and always willing to speak on the phone to answer any questions. It is always a pleasure speaking with her on the phone and she's very pleasant to speak with every time. So thankful and appreciative of you and your team!

IPAs and pale ales were really solid. If I would have only gotten the beer it probably would have been four stars. Food menu had limited vegetarian options. Got the veggie burger which took over 30 minutes to arrive even though the place was pretty empty. The burger was OK, maybe average.

Just got turned away from Mascot brewing because they said all booked up. So, 14 open seats at bar and ummmm can book a reso at 7:15 (in 15 min). Seriously?????

I have an immediate LIKE for a bar playing TRIBE QUEST, GANG STARR, INSPECTAH DECK... 90's hip hop :) Ordered a flight, GOLD RUSH is exceptional. Manager, bartender was helpful. Good addition to KING ST W. Definitely will return. The tiny hallway with the bank machine and kegs doesn't work. You can't get around someone at the ATM. Bit dark inside, patio will appeal to many... I like inside(s). :)

Modern pub with a great outdoor patio and a cozy basement bar. Friendly and entertaining bar staff. Tons of great brews with a menu that rotates monthly. They make their own beer and offer local favourites as well. The pilsener is the claim to fame, but also go for the great sours and pale ales. For food, their Brussels sprouts come roasted to perfection and the truffle fries are nice and crisp. The mac and cheese is nice, rich and cheesy. Everything's got a salty/savoury angle to it to go with the beer, but also lighter and more complex flavour than your typical pub fare. Progressive and modern brewpub with intelligent service to boot.

Although the beer was quite tasty, our food experience not so much. We ordered our food and an hour later it still hadn't arrived. Not sure what happened to our order, but as we were going to a play we had to leave before it arrived. Others with our party stayed to eat, however their food wasn't what they ordered. The waitress was very apologetic however the manager could have cared less. She refunded our money but didn't say a word. Not a great start to our evening.

Relatively new brewery downtown in a prime location. We sat on the back patio that didn't have sunlight, but was quiet and cool on a warm day. Service was spotty, more flag-us-down-if-you-need-us than attentive. Beers, in our opinion, were fairly standard. We chose a taster and they were out of a couple so the bartender just doubled on some of his choosing (which was a bit odd). Mildly pricey but probably comparable to most places in that location. Nothing terrible to write, but nothing amazing either. Standard afternoon beer pit stop experience.

A decent spot at the edge of King West - their beers are excellent (a little pricey), the food is reasonable and the space is quite spread out, making it a good COVID after-work spot (plus they have the front patio).

Debated between a 3 and a 4 and the service pushed it to 3 because of how slow it was. Very nice when they were there, but very slow. Pros: Nice big patio with good vibe, 90s hip hop music, and decent beers on tap. (primarily IPAs/sours/saissons on my visit) Cons: To get to the patio is a very narrow hallway and it's in the very back, hard to find if you don't know where you're gong. Beer is relatively expensive ($7-8) for a 14oz glass. Limited food options. Visit: Loved the Haze IPA and I dislike IPAs. Was light on the hops (thank god). Italian Lager was standard lager. Ordered wings and they were actually decently tasty and decent portion for $14, the downside is the bowl they came in had literally 3-4mm of oil at the bottom. Not kidding, gross. Had to napkin-wipe off the last 3-4 wings due to this. Friend ordered wings an hour later and same thing so I know it was not just mine.

Excellent brewery with fantastic food and excellent ambiance in downtown. Summer patio space is exceptional. New brewmaster is doing some great things!

Its a really nice patio. When i was here, they had a pretty cool DJ. They have a straight forward menu of beer, wine in different sizes. I had the mascot pilsner- it was light and refreshing

Great beer and good food. Vibe is laid back, and beer is straight forward good stuff with numerous options from stouts to lagers to sours. I enjoyed a burger there and would order it again. Definitely a place worth checking out next time you're in town.
