"You just got back from a weekend in your hometown where the only restaurants of note are a late-night diner and a Subway inside a gas station. You need some spice in your life. Al-Noor is a quick ten-minute drive from LAX and it’s home to some of the best Indian food in the city. Located in a strip mall in the tiny suburb of Lawndale, this traditional family-owned spot is where you go to get Indian staples like tikka masala, paneer palak, and hot-from-the-tandoori garlic naan." - cathy park, brant cox
"If In-N-Out is usually your first LA meal after landing at LAX, it’s time to switch it up and try Al-Noor. That’s because this little restaurant between a cigar store and a Domino’s in Lawndale is home to the best Indian and Pakistani food in Los Angeles. We have lost many hours of sleep thinking about their chicken korma, lamb palak, tikka masala, and perfectly cooked garlic naan. And even if we had to travel hours in blistering, rage-filled traffic, we would gladly take the journey for a top-notch meal here." - garrett snyder, sylvio martins, cathy park
"If you’re looking for classic, home-style Indian dishes like chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, and lamb korma, you’ll be hard-pressed to find better versions than the ones at Al-Noor. Located right off the 405 in Lawndale (about five minutes from LAX), this strip-mall spot is currently offering both takeout and delivery on most major delivery platforms. Be sure to throw in some garlic naan as well." - brant cox
"Whatever Los Angeles lacks in Indian food is entirely made up with the presence of Al-Noor. Located on a horrible side street off the 405 in Lawndale, Al-Noor is the best Indian food in LA by a mile and the only proof you need to understand LA’s best food is always in strip-malls. But let’s slow our roll for second. What did we just say to you? Lawndale? Did we lose a bet? No, we didn’t. In fact, we feel like we won the lottery. Because six minutes from LAX is this no-frills (technically Pakistani) restaurant that’s worth the drive whether you’re catching a flight or not. Warning - all other garlic naan from here on out is ruined." - brant cox, katherine lewin
"You’ve been quarantining with three children under the age of seven, and right now, true romance means eating with your spouse in complete silence until you both fall asleep on the couch. Consider Al-Noor. The family-run Indian restaurant in Lawndale (adjacent to LAX) makes our favorite Indian food in LA, including classic dishes like palak paneer and tikka masala that are so good you’ll continue eating far after the point of feeling full. Both takeout and delivery are available." - brant cox
