I've been a resident at Mason on Mariposa for nearly three years, and overall, it's been a truly positive experience. The building is beautiful and well-maintained, the amenities are excellent, and the location in this neighborhood can't be beat. For the vast majority of my time here, the management and staff have been responsive and professional, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Recently, our building experienced a significant water main break that unfortunately affected several units, including mine. This type of event is naturally stressful for any resident, and there were some initial challenges in the remediation process. However, I want to commend the building's management team for ultimately stepping up to address the issues and work towards satisfactory solutions for the affected residents. The management team was receptive to feedback, and they put in significant effort to coordinate repairs and address concerns about damaged belongings. While these situations are never easy, their commitment to resolving the issues was evident. I'm now happily back in my repaired apartment and pleased with the outcome. This experience, while initially challenging, ultimately highlighted the positive aspects of the Mason on Mariposa community. If you're looking for a beautiful, well-located building with a management team that demonstrated they are capable of navigating complex situations and are committed to resident satisfaction, I recommend considering Mason on Mariposa. I've generally had a very positive experience here, and continue to enjoy being a resident.

WHY MASON I began looking for a new place that was more COVID wfh friendly in the beginning of September. I was looking at Alta Potrero as well as some other listings in Design District. I ultimately landed on Mason for several reasons: 1. Over 7 common spaces including co-working spaces, conference rooms, lounges, patio spaces, and roof-top decks 2. Huge 2 story gym that never gets too crowded with Peloton & Soulcycle bikes. 3. I moved into a Townhouse that included a free parking space. 3Bedroom / 3Bath with a patio and two common spaces separated upstairs and downstairs which was much more conducive to WFH life. 4. The property is tucked into the foothills of Potrero a block away from Anchor Steam Brewery and Whole Foods away from some of the encampments that have developed in the Mission Bay/SOMA area 5. The management team hosts fun social distance events outside like Jazz & Wine hour and a Roof-top catered party. It makes this time feel a little more human and connected. LEASING/MOVE IN PROCESS I mostly toured the property with Kristina, she was incredibly flexible with letting us tour several times and showing us different options for our group. She was highly responsive and communicative. She helped us find the best place and deal for our group and moved as quickly as our group needed. When questions or issues arose they were quickly addressed. MANAGEMENT When we moved in there were a few things missing and management quickly addressed them that same day. They are extremely courteous and professional. Everyone gets a really cute welcome gift filled with local goodies. Overall we've felt really happy with our move and couldn't recommend this place more!

Been here 2 years and just renewed. The staff are fantastic, the design is super human centric, the amenities are great, the landscaping is beautiful and so well kept, and it’s super dog friendly. Best place I’ve ever lived.

I've been living at Mason on Mariposa for over a year now, and I can't speak more highly of the place. It's clean and conveniently located within walking distance to everything you could possibly need, including grocery stores, parks, bars, and restaurants. The neighborhood is very clean and safe, and I feel completely comfortable walking around, even at night. The amenities are fantastic, but the best part is the amazing staff, who truly make a difference. Special Kudos to Daisy, Moises, and William at the front desk—they're always friendly, helpful, and go the extra mile. I'd also like to thank Mario, Jordan, Jessie, Samuel, and Kristina for their outstanding service.

Google
Can't say enough about our time living here in our unique corner unit. The location, the staff, the building and amenities are top notch. Every detail is thought out, down to the rotating custom scents they have throughout their buildings that are so nice (and subtle). The neighborhood has everything you could possibly need with a small community feel in a big city. It's been 8 months since we left to relocate for a job and we miss it every day. Thank you, Daisy, Mario, Jordan, Kristina, Ernest, Sam, Monse and everyone else on the team for making us feel right at home from day one.

Google
Very dangerous neighborhood. Car wheels stolen twice here. The first floor units are easy to break in given the higher crime rate for SF and the neighborhood. Be careful and stay safe!

Google
I have been living here for a few years. Still one of the best, if not the best, apartment in SF. Facilities are on point. Staff are always nice and welcoming. The only reason why it's not 5 stars is because of the dog owners who live in the apartment. They just let their dogs pee anywhere making the courtyards smell like dog pee. Even after repeated warnings from apartment management. I unfortunately live in front of a courtyard and it has been a chronic issue for years. To those looking to rent at Mason, this will be one of the best in the neighborhood but just be mindful of units facing courtyards.

Mason is worth more than 5 stars!!! Every experience I had was excellent. Andres and Taha in the Leasing office were very knowledgeable and patient in my apartment search. I rented an apartment on my first visit. A week later I realized my furniture wouldn't fit. They didn't hesitate to let me change apartments. No guilt trip, no fuss. Daisy is one of the Concierge. She is always smiling (yes under the mask) and so helpful. She follows-up with me without prompting and deals with my requests very quickly. After my move, I wanted to move my carpet and living room furniture. Without hesitation, Sam and Morris from the building staff, came to my apartment, moved the furniture, carpet and placed the furniture in the ideal location. No charge. I was amazed and appreciated the gesture. The building is amazing. Quiet, clean and beautiful. Many outdoor seating areas and lots of greenery. Feels like the suburbs in the City. You can even hear birds singing. I am very happy with my move. I highly recommend Mason on Mariposa!

Yelp
Pros: Nice enough building Cons: They just repeatedly jack up the rent and parking a ridiculous amount year after year. It's hard to stay here for longer than a year or two. getting packages is very difficult. Attendants "can't find them" and you have to make multiple trips just to pick it up Not worth the cost, and the headache of having to move again so soon

Yelp
I had a horrible experience living here. I specifically had asked for a quiet unit and thought I was lucky to get one on the top floor and corner. However, since they couldn't show me the actual unit but only a model of it, it turned out that the studio was right above and adjacent to the main entry doorway, which was extremely loud when anyone entered or exited, and this happened very frequently. I was unable to sleep because of it and asked them to put some kind of silencer on the heavy metal door, but they did nothing about it and management was dismissive. They gave me the option to move out. I lost my concession and had to find another place to live after just two months.

Yelp
Yelp describes a 2-star rating as "could've been better," and that's how I feel about my time living so far at Mason on Mariposa. First of all, I have to say that the staff and service have been superb. One of the best residential management teams in all of the apartments we've ever lived in. From the concierges to the maintenance team to the assistance GM to the leasing agents and everyone else we've interacted with - the experience has been superb. Can't give enough compliments about the Related team. Unfortunately, the building was not built with much sound insulation in mind. The windows have good soundproofing, but the walls and floors do not. I can hear my neighbors' music's bass thumping through the walls and vibrating in my head, even when they have it turned down to 20% (they've showed me screenshots to prove it). It's obviously unfair to them to ask them not to play music during the day, and yet it's unpleasant for us to live in a constant state of noise issues. Again it's not the fault of anyone that lives or works here, it's just the building itself. When kids run down the hallway, it absolutely echoes in the second bedroom that we have next to that hallway. If someone upstairs just walks around normally, but does so barefoot instead of with shoes on or on a rug, we hear them loud and clear. Upstairs laundry machine running? Yup. In-sink disposal? Yup. Talking loudly? Yup. Elevator arrived on my floor? Yup. I know exactly what my neighbors are doing. I can often even guess which neighbor is walking down the hallway based on differences in their footstep sounds. And no, it's not just because I'm living in a shared residential building. I've lived in multiple apartment complexes in Manhattan, Boston, and SF, and this one has the most severe issues. Perhaps I'm just more sensitive to it because of all the WFH during pandemic this year. I want to repeat once more that I'm not blaming the wonderful team here, or my neighbors at all. I was just hoping for a bit more from a "luxury-marketed" building from a well-reputed company like Related. For future prospective tenants, don't let my review frighten you away. The property and amenities and service are great. You may just want to pick a unit a little further away from the elevator and the long hallways that run adjacent to the courtyards.

Yelp
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BUILDING! I've been here for less than a month - but it's been an incredibly pleasant experience. From the interiors (every corner is just so aesthetically pleasing) to how incredibly nice all the people are (from Frank to Daisy to Taha - ALL of them!) - I couldn't be more happy that we picked this spot. The apartments are stunning and there are 7 common spaces in terms of amenities. There are also some of the cutest puppies I've ever seen here. That and it's a 5 min walk from the whole foods. The only downside really is that the walls are kind of thin (true about every new construction in the city though) so you can definitely hear footsteps above you - but it's not such a big deal.

Sebastian K.

Yelp
Updating to 1 star because the response here has been very poor. Even after Related's response above I haven't heard any updates and my apartment is still vibrating from whatever noise. Nobody is presenting a path to resolution and I am still being charged normal rent. Three months of constant noise and we don't have any path forward. Weak!

Yelp
I moved in mid-January right as they opened occupation, and it has been an awesome experience so far. Having toured neighboring properties multiple times in the area such as Dogpatch Avalon and The Landing, Mason was the strongest in unit layout, finishes, and overall quality. My experience working with leasing was very low pressure and pleasant as I made 5 visits before signing the lease. In my experience, the staff, GMs, leasing agents, et all, have just been very competent and full of surprising gestures. It started with complimentary tickets to the Warriors opening game at Chase, 3 gifts of wine so far, a Heath ceramics welcome gift, COVID-19 care packages, and 2 catered meals, among other niceties. Examples of their service include delivering heavy packages to the unit, delivering ear plugs for fire alarm testing, and greeting you by name. These are small actions that signal their strong hospitality. If properties can get Michelin stars, Mason earns one. There seems to be strong partnership within the staff, which should make for a good living experience for the residents. Communication with the residents are clear of expectations should there be maintenance, adjustments to existing processes, or feature/amenity rollouts. As of this writing, the property is still under construction and most amenity spaces are inaccessible, such as the gym. They did accommodated the gym by substituting memberships to the UCSF gym. The construction hasn't meaningfully impacted my well being living here, but I do hear occasional construction noise. The property and units are overall well designed. I would not suggest to expect perfection, but from the competing properties I've toured, the difference is significant, and any oddities at Mason have been negligible/trivial. Not having known the Related brand before Mason, it's feeling like a great developer/property manager, and that they have strong experience managing properties. There are not many residents right now, so it will be interesting to see how they're going to scale the great support and experience as the property completes and additional residents move in.

Yelp
Manuel is very hardworking and super friendly. He always helps maintain Mason clean and I want to appreciate his dedication. Thank you Manuel!

Yelp
Looks expensive, but it's not worth the price. Gym is "high tech" but not practical. Any requests for equipment receive a "you are welcome to join a nearby gym instead". Received repeated demands for what our apartment should look like from the exterior (e.g. no colored lights INSIDE the apartment). Neighborhood is okay if you have a car, but good luck climbing the hills on foot. Nearest pharmacy is 20 minutes walk. Building has a deal with shitty internet providers so Fiber is not an option. Overall, never felt welcomed and will definitely not renew my lease.

Yelp
Mason on Mariposa is a truly lovely place to live. I've lived here since May 2020. The staff really makes it exceptional. I recently had a surgery that prevented me from being able to lift things. Simultaneously, I purchased a standing desk that needed assembly and had heavy parts. The maintenance staff graciously assembled the desk for me and carefully carried it into my unit when it was all done. Sam, Ernest and Maurice are a fantastic, helpful team. And of course, Daisy, who works at the front desk is also incredibly kind and helpful. She also goes above and beyond to make living here easy and comfortable.

Yelp
Moving is always stressful, but it helps when the you're dealing with a team of people who are responsive, competent, and kind. We moved in on July 1, 2020. My family and I started looking for apartments back in April (a month into shelter in place). Once we found out what school our son got accepted to, we narrowed our search to Potrero Hill. I reached out to a handful of apartment buildings, not really expecting to get an immediate response. Much to my surprise, I got a call from Andres at the leasing office within 24 hours. He asked very thoughtful questions about my family and asked about the reason for our move. I gave him our criteria (including our max budget), and he assured me that he could find us the perfect unit that would serve my family's needs. Within hours of our initial call, he emailed me video links to 3 units. These weren't just pre-recorded videos; he actually recorded them the day of our conversation as he referred to me by my name. When we wanted to see more options, Andres was more than willing to do more of these "virtual tours" and answered all of our follow up questions. He was always responsive, and he even sent me text updates to ensure we knew he was working on whatever request we had. Not once did he pressure us to sign a lease. Instead, he encouraged us to take our time. From the get-go, we were very impressed by the level of service that Andres provided. We also want to give a few other shout outs: LEASING TEAM: Taha - She was the one who did the in-person tour. We threw questions at her, and she answered them on the spot. She was very friendly and patient (as my toddler kept running around her.) Christina - When I discovered an error on my credit card statement from Mason on Mariposa, I called the leasing office right away. Since Andres had the day off, Christina explained what happened and helped us fix the issue. Both Christina and Andres apologized for the error, which I totally appreciate. They acknowledged the error and immediately resolved it! CONCIERGE TEAM: Daisy - She is one of the friendliest people we've ever met! She really takes the time to get to know the residents. She is also always happy and positive. And with everything that's happening in the world today, I wish more people were like her. Kashif - He is a little bit more shy, but he never fails to greet us with a warm hello. From the moment we met Kashif, we could immediately tell that he is such a nice, friendly guy. He is always willing to help when we need it. Armando - Within a couple of days of living at Mason on Mariposa, Armando knew us by our first names. He remembered that my husband loves soccer, and he would take time to chat with him about it. Armando goes beyond the "hello" and talks to us about our interests, which we appreciate. Everyone on the concierge team is friendly and helpful ALL THE TIME! Honestly, we have not experienced this kind of service from any of the apartment buildings we've lived in. We have to walk through the front desk to get to our unit, and they're there to greet us with a smile. This is a simple gesture, I know, but it really brightens our day! BUILDING MAINTENANCE TEAM: Maurice -- When we did the walk through of our unit, we noticed that the garbage disposal was making a weird noise. Maurice came in to check it out, and within minutes, he knew exactly what the issue was. He was able to fix the problem right then and there. Sam -- Our door locks weren't working properly, and Sam came to the rescue. He fixed the locks in a matter of minutes. On top of that, he noticed that our doors were creaking, so he fixed that too! He knew that we have little ones, and he said "We can't have the door wake up the kids when they're sleeping". He went above and beyond the call of duty. Now, every time we run into Maurice and Sam, they always say hello and ask how our kids are doing. It's gestures like this that make an impact. We appreciate that they try to get to know my family. We are so glad we moved here! Sure, the building is beautiful and the amenities are awesome. However, what sets Mason on Mariposa apart from many of the other apartment buildings in the area is their team! We feel at home because of them. For that, we want to say THANK YOU!!!

Yelp
Absolutely stunning property. Extremely grateful to have happened upon Mason early! I've never lived in a luxury apartment complex before because I tend not to enjoy high-rises (that terrible sterile feeling of living in a tiny box next to other tiny boxes...). So when Mason came along, I thought it might be the perfect place -- and it blew all expectations out of the water too! Mason has an aesthetic designer exterior, relaxed neighborhood feel, and yet with all the amenities of a luxury high-rise. Heaven. The details are what matter and this is where Mason really shines. Instead of flashy marketing and overselling, the apartment is full of fine details and little delights -- the color of the hardwood floor is unique and so soothing, all the appliances are truly state of the art and practical (not just superficially fancy), the bathroom tiling is gorgeous, and the closets and cabinets are modular. Also so much walk in closet space! When I realized the bathroom mirror was a medicine cabinet with another mirror within, I knew this interior design was a labor of love. You can tell that the designers really didn't skimp on anything. The spaces may be small in square footage, but trust me, the space is designed so well that it feels efficient and generous. Mason is a quiet beauty that isn't trying to impress. The community is fantastic as well. Swan helped me look through various studios, one bedrooms, and two bedrooms. She was extremely professional, matter-of-fact, and most importantly empathetic, helping me consider different elements of my life to help me understand how different spaces would affect my day-to-day. Swan was a true advocate and aid in my search as opposed to salesy and pushy -- I absolutely loved working with her, trusted her advice, and am so appreciative for her help in finding my dream studio! This has been the most seamless apartment hunt I've ever had, or have ever heard of! During move in, Andres helped me with my barrage of questions and requests -- he was always very responsive and made the move-in process as smooth as possible. One of the staff even saw me struggling with some giant boxes in the hallway and came over and told me he would take care of it -- the whole building breathes hospitality. Everyone I've met has been so warm, friendly, and attentive and I'm excited to be part of this community. Also, Mason is pet-friendly and I am very excited to befriend many future pet neighbors! :) As for amenities, many of the common spaces and gym aren't finished being constructed yet. Will update this review when they are complete!

Yelp
Taha and all of the Related team at Mason on Mariposa (we affectionately refer to as MOM) have been super prior to, during, and after our move-in! The community is kept very clean which is especially important during these times. Our experience was not flawless, however the team addressed all our concerns expediently. It is our hope that the staff will continue to expand to meet the demands of a growing community which has experienced a recent boom. 5 stars!

Yelp
When I first moved to the Mason on Mariposa, I would've recommended this apartment building to anyone to move in because of the great scenery good location and luxury apartment now after I've been here for three years, that review has totally changed. If you or a family with young children, I wouldn't advise you move here there is no playground or designated play area for the children although they do have a "playhouse" it is only accessible when you pay for the amenities which is an extra hundred dollars per month. This isn't a family building at all. This building is more for single occupants or a couples who just have fur babies. If you are African-American, I wouldn't advise to move here with your children either the residence as well as the staff. Find every reason to complain about the children as if they don't live here I feel if the children are residing here why shouldn't they be able to play in the inside of the gate or in the grass areas but the animals are able to pee and poop everywhere and yes, it smells real bad smells like a whole bunch of dog urine everywhere you turn. Yes there's a park across the street but who wants their children till always have to go across the street and most apartment buildings usually have areas for children to be able to play and be safe and comfortable. Most of the staff are very respectful and helpful. Then you have your select a few staff who are very racist. And very biased. If you were offered a below market rate unit at the Mason, please be advised that if you are a woman and has faced any type of domestic violence situation in the past or currently still going through situations, they won't help you there they don't have an emergency transfer plan for the situation so you will be on your own as much as they will be able to appoint you with is breaking your lease free with no charge. And what they don't mention to you is that this is a very bad area for car break-ins several people's windows has been smashed over the years. I even woke up to a homeless person sleeping in my car right in front of the cameras in front of the gate and the staff told me or we weren't sure if that was your car or not. Homeless people hang around at the park as well in around the area they dig through your trash they go through your cars. The neighborhood would be such a great neighborhood if it wasn't for such the minor hiccups that you see here and there. Everything that glitters is not gold in the Mason in Mariposa is not for the families of San Francisco. The Mason on Mariposa is not for protecting women in their children against aniseed Instead, they might let him inside your apartment building just because even worry about them getting your permission for doing it. You will come home to a complete stranger in your home. It's so many things that needs to be fixed from the staff to the operation. To everything within the Mason on Mariposa. So before you come here and do viewing, I would technically do a viewing on everything around and not just one day because one day could be a good day but there's always a bad days.

Yelp
I love living in Mason on Mariposa. I've been here for about 3 months, and the entire experience has been fantastic. My girlfriend and I were looking for places to move to make for a more comfortable WFH environment, and Mason exceeded every expectation. Seriously, from the first interaction with the staff (Andres!), it was head and shoulders above any other place we had visited (and we had seen a LOT of options). They're professional, friendly, and responsive to any and all questions. The building manager, Maurice, and front desk attendants Daisy and Armando are terrific as well. To put it simply, they care about doing a good job and it's noticed. The building and the amenities speak for themselves. Rooftop lounge, high quality gym, game room, and well maintained mail room? Not much else you can ask for. I've already had one of my coworkers sign a lease here, and I'd recommend it to anyone else considering their options for high quality living in the city.

Yelp
First of all, are amenities great at this place? It has two rooftops and awesome gym- they are good, but not *great*. There are many other luxury apartments that are comparable in terms of $$, and I've seen WAY better amenities. I am not impressed. Also, often times, the rooftops are closed without much explanation. When you are ready to enjoy your saturday afternoon with a bottle of wine & pack up cheese and hop on the elevator, only to learn that rooftop is closed, it is reeeaally annoying as heck. Also, can we talk about the paper thin walls? You will hear anything from dogs barking in the hallway to people upstairs doing jumping jacks in the middle of the night, every single day. I've learned to live with it (just sad), but my poor husband who had to work from home never did. We came to terms with the fact that there is zero sound insulation, and learned to tolerate it. Is it acceptable level of noise? Simple answer is no. I've lived in apartments in NYC from college year to my early 30's & this has been the worst thus far. Someone mentioned how they like having yoga classes being offered... this is a downside for someone who doesn't do yoga as the classes are held just outside my apartment & background music is loud & instructor will shout random words here and there. Very annoying. Not to mention how the whole building will vibrate until the class is over. (And who wants to do yoga in front of the main entrance of the building..? I never understood the appeal). And yes, this is a family friendly apartment. But that is antonymous to adult-friendly. 9 out of 10 rooftops occupied for kid's birthday parties. Not ideal for a couple who wants to enjoy peaceful, relaxing weekend. Also, who designed this building? It is a nice 7 minute walk just to get to the trash chute, where the freight elevator is. I am not exaggerating as my movers had to charge me additional 20% for unexpected LOOONNG walk to our apartment. Not to mention how filthy the trash chute is... wont get into that. Neighborhood. Kind of ghetto, but no homeless camps which is a huge plus. But also there is nothing to do within 6-7 minute walk. Far from everything else & having a car is a must. Also, there used to be a homeless man near by (who flashed his private parts to kids in the park & harass anyone who walked by) but he's been removed. Side note: Delivery guys will always be lost, but no points taken off for that as I liked the landscape of this building Another side note: due to the way the buildings were designed, you will see your neighbors often. When i say "see", i mean that in a literal sense. You will feel like you are constantly exposed due to large windows with 0 reflective coating. I lived across a rooftop, and i exchanged awkward looks with neighbors who were looking directly at our apartment. There's no sense of privacy. But aside from all that, all staffs were extremely courteous & friendly. Very helpful and eager to accommodate.

Yelp
We've been at Mason on Mariposa for about 2 weeks now, and it's just really setting in the extent to which we hit the jackpot. From our first outreach to Andres, we've had nothing but beyond the call of duty attentiveness and helpfulness during our consideration, application, move-in and post-move in periods. This is an absolutely beautiful building -- so many times each day I just get a smile on my face at how nice everything is (from the common spaces, to the grounds to the units). I've lived in a number of so called "luxury" buildings that are built with cheap materials that make for a good photo shoot and then reveal their true nature once you move in -- that is NOT this building. We're picky customers...the ONE "disappointment" (if you can call it that) with our unit vs what we saw through videos/pictures is the beautiful white counter tops seem to be very easily scratched and stained vs what I'm accustomed to with quality countertops. Other than that, the units are truly top notch. Our only complaint with the building in general would be that there are only two treadmills in the gym -- kind of weird if you ask me, but it's a crazy high quality gym, and if you like to cycle for your workouts you're going to be very happy with the facilities. That's truly the extent of the disappointing surprises - and trust me there have been 10x as many positive surprises (interior quality, size of units, thoughfulness of layout, smell/ambiance, balconies, common spaces, neighborhood, staff etc). Shout outs to Andres for being unfailing helpful and still to this day (well after we signed on the bottom line) answering all of our questions. In addition, the front desk staff are universally friendly and so helpful. We sent way too many packages ahead of us arriving, and Daisy and the other staff literally dropped off all of our packages in our unit ahead of our arrival (beyond the call of duty to be sure!). Finally, we arrived late at night on our move in date, and the general manager woke up and came to let us in to our unit -- really this is not stuff I've ever experienced before. Finally, on the neighborhood -- it's so nice! 18th street has been a pleasure to explore -- can't think of a better place to be (we're SF noobies, but it's been great). If you're like us and need to find a place in SF sight unseen without being familiar with the city, you really cant go wrong with Mason.

Yelp
Amazing amenities and leasing office. There are various events such as yoga class, cooking class, and performance for free! Safe neighborhoods as well :)

Yelp
Trash room is piled high with trash bags on the floor. Gym has a lot of non working equipment which hasn't been replaced for months.

Yelp
Everyone at Mason on Mariposa are amazing! Taha who responded to our interest in the property within 24-hours and Andres who assisted us in our move, are both efficient, friendly and professional. Daisy and Rodney on the front desk have been welcoming and helpful. We have lived here a month and have enjoyed both the apartment and the facilities in the complex, including the great gym. The neighborhood is fantastic. Thank you to the team at Mason on Mariposa for making our move to San Francisco smooth and welcoming.
