"If you’ve spent much time at the Glendale Galleria, Massis Kabob might prompt flashbacks of preteen years spent wandering around the food court. But the famous kabobery (yes, that’s a word) has made the jump from food court mini-chain to brick-and-mortar with its first standalone location on Glendale Ave. The Armenian spot looks like any other fast-casual, counter-service spot—a soda fountain, generic furniture, a big picture menu overhead—but unlike most chains, Massis puts its kabob grilling operation on full display. Tender cubes of beef shish kabob and cornish hen drumsticks taste as good as they look, but overall, the chicken and beef koubideh remain our go-to’s. These ground meat kabobs burst with juice and are perfectly seasoned throughout. Get one of each on a bed of Massis’s buttery rice, along with their excellent hummus to scoop up with pita. The combo plate is a generous amount of food for under $20, made better by the fact you don’t have to navigate a mall parking structure to eat it." - Sylvio Martins

Ordered an Argentinian Skirt Steak it comes with fries, coleslaw and delicious Chimi Churri pesto. Amazing combination with the fries when you mix it together. Their beer Mother Land is very good as well.

Massis Kabob is very delicious. We had falafel and chicken breast kabobs. Amazing food. This is the second time we had made our way to this establishment and it’s well worth it. The food portions are large. The flavors are very good. This particular Massis Kabob is located in a mall so be prepared to encounter a very busy eating place. We tend to find ourselves scouting a table location where one holds the table while the other heads their way to order. I found the customer service very friendly. The pricing seems on par with what you get. I do recommend Massis Kabob.

If I could give zero stars I would. I ordered a family meal to go. The chicken was under done and I got food poisoning. We called to complain and they then made us bring back all the food and because my family ate part of it they said they would not refund it. The staff there fought my boyfriend. We have never experienced such bad service before. Don’t eat here save yourself from getting sick friends.

Google
I'm only giving 2 stars because the food is actually good but this meal cost me 20 dollars. It's way overpriced and only 4 pieces on fish is ridiculous. I never eat the burnt tomato I dont know why they even put that. 2oz hummus is $1 dollar. They are very expensive and not much food. Also the salad is ok but again it will be nice to be able to substitute it for a small amount on hummus instead since I don't eat tomato salad and it's just a waste. Actually the chicken kebab is not that good now that I remember it taste like plastic. The beef is choppy so I always get the fish since it's the only good option.

Massis Kabob is a local institution for reasonably priced Mediterranean and Mid-Eastern cuisine. My wife and I recently had dinner at Massis in the mall food court. We happened to be craving gyros and decided to give this place a try. She always gets falafel and I get beef and lamb. We could see the vertical rotisserie grill with the cone of gyro meat in the kitchen so I was excited to try the wrap. If I don't see the rotisserie I don't order the gyro. When I opened the box I was a bit shocked. The wrap was long and thin, spaning the entire length of the container and completely hidden within sandwich wrapping paper. In that moment I had to remind myself that pita wraps can differ somewhat depending on each country's style and cultural traditions. I've had Greek, I've had Egyptian, this was neither. OK dear reader, I can hear you thinking,"Get to the point! How was the food?" In short, really satisfying. The pita chips and hummus were an exceptionally good side. The pita itself larger and thinner than any I'd ever had before but exactly the same flavor. Excellent quality lettuce and tomato. I say that with certainty because my first bite was all pita, lettuce and tomato. By bite three I found the thinly shaved gyro meat and realized that the tangy yogurt sauce was not in the wrap but in the dipping sauce cup on the side. I enjoyed my gyro and my wife enjoyed her falafel. If you are craving a gyro this place will satisfy. We are looking forward to returning and trying the famous kabob plates. Fun Facts: The first Massis Kabob location opened in 1976 in Glendale. There are currently six locations around LA mostly in malls. A seventh location is scheduled to open in early 2022. This location will be a stand alone dine in restaurant at 301 S Glendale Ave in Glendale. So, do yourself a favor and give this place a try soon.

I hosted a dinner party for my parents 57th anniversary and didn't want to fuss with the preparation of food. I went to the catering menu online and ordered 2 days prior to party. I ordered chicken and the steak kabobs, (comes with 10 skewers each of the chicken and steak) each order comes with a very generous serving of rice and pita bread. I also ordered the #25, also on the catering menu. This also came with another large container of rice and pita bread, as well as roasted peppers and tomato. I wish I would have ordered more hummus though, that went quick, so good. The food was delicious! Everyone enjoyed it and vocalized how deliciousit was. Warning, totally my fault and not the restaurants. Be careful if using chaffing dishes. They are pretty and keep food warm, but can dry food out. It was my first time using and the heat was to high. Even still, I am very pleased. Also not snooze on the chimichurri! That stuff is ridiculously delicious. I picked up at the Arcadia mall location My food was ready at the time I requested it to be, nice and fresh. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They even helped me take food to my car. Would definitely use them again.

Google
Food is mid. Prices are high. Portions are small. Bought a chicken breast plate and got 4 pieces of small, dry chunks. Got a soltani and both meats were overcooked. 2 combos that cost me around $50. I'll probably skip going here.

The kabobs are good and fresh. It is one of our favorite places. Service is fast. Online order process is great. Overall good experience.

Yelp
After a two hour bowling marathon at Bowlero Arcadia, my friends from work and myself were ready to chow down. The food court was conveniently located right outside the bowling alley. Perfect place to hang out for the evening. Massis Kabob was our pick. First time trying Armenian foods for me. A couple of my friends chipped in and treated me dinner. So very kind of them. Thank you my friends! I ended up getting #11 Chicken Kabob Boneless just the way it comes with one row of boneless chicken without the skewer LOL, a side cup of shirazi salad, one marinated tomato, one grilled jalapeno, and slices of pita bread over a bed of basmati rice. The entire plate was full of deliciousness and goodness. Chicken was very tender moist and tasty... 7 big chunks! Shirazi salad was citrusy and refreshing. Marinated tomato was amazing. Jalapeno is very hot only if you get one of them seeds in your mouth... just eat around the seeds LOL. Pita bread was soft and chewy. Basmatic rice was light fluffy and aromatic. Just get it!!! They do have other meats and fish, too. Everyone at our table had the same compliments about the foods. Delish! I am sold! Massis is now my go-to friend for kabobs. Staff was friendly, too. Prices are very reasonable for the huge portions. Massis is a keeper. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Yelp
Part of the food court of Santa Anita Mall, Massis Kabob is serving up some decent mediterranean food. Price seems to be about above average for something in a food court. Would definitely try again if i'm feeling mediterranean at the mall. Service was relatively quick and food came out hot. Lots of tables to choose and eat at.

Susan F.

Yelp
Yummy Beef Kabob and the rice the bomb! However, it doesn't come with Tzatziki; Really !? The girl @ the register was someone what nice. And the girls serving weren't friendly and ignored you. But the other guy who served was very nice.

Yvonne C.

Yelp
We got lamb chops with garlic fries. I can tell the fries would've been pretty good if it wasn't takeout and eaten fresh. Lamb chops with their chimichurri sauce was okay. The sauce was better than the lamb chops. There was sooooo much rice for the small few pieces of lamb chop. The boneless Idaho trout had small bones in them so that's a no no for me. I really wanted to love the gyro pita wrap but it was lacking. It came with white sauce but that sauce didn't really elevate the wrap much. It was just lettuce, tomato, onion, and the meat wrapped up together. Dry and flavorless. Overall the meal was so so. Also, I didn't know this was from the Shops at Santa Anita malls food court until after I got it. I guess it was not bad for a food court takeout meal.

Steve H.

Yelp
It is a weekday lunch at Santa Anita mall. So there isn't much of line, and I ordered #20 Chicken Kabob & Beef Koubideh with two sides at the counter. They call you when your food is ready like other food court restaurants. Menu description for #20 "Two skewers of our most popular items, one skewer boneless chicken and one skewer of ground sirloin with Rice, and choice of Any Side, Pita Bread, Grilled Tomatoes and Peppers" Along with choice cucumber yogurt dip and Greek salad. The kabobs are tender, juicy, and use good quality cut and meats. Yogurt and salads are fresh and make great combination with the main dish. The only one not so great is the pita bread which is a bit too dry and hard. Meats are great and tasty!

Domenique D.

Yelp
I don't like leaving a negative review. The service was good and the food was done fast. However, I have spent the entire next day with food poisoning. I'm really sad because I was excited to give this a try but I can't recommend it :(

Angeli P.

Yelp
My chicken kabob plate was great! Made to order and fresh. My chicken was so flavorful, juicy, and hot! They give so much rice. I think next time I'll probably add an additional side. There is way more rice than chicken. It comes with a side of cucumber salad which has tomatoes and their vinaigrette. It's located in the food court.

Ron R.

Yelp
This Massia Kabob is inside the Santa Anita Mall food court right near the mall entrance by the AMC theater, The Cheesecake Factory (visible from the parking lot), Benihana (visible from the parking lot), and the Craft by Fire (visible from the parking lot and used to be the Wood Ranch BBQ prior to COVID). This should be the south-east entrance. If you park in the parking garage behind the AMC rather than the open lot right by the mall entrance, there is also quick access to the food court. As other reviewers said, the service at Massis has never been good and it has gotten worse. The servers are either cold or rude depending on the day. However, and contrary to other reviewers, the food quality has remained the same. The food quality at this location has always varied. Some items and particularly the beef dishes, but also sometimes the chicken, are somtimes dry. Their food does take a long time to prepare. This is standard for kabob places. Expect to wait. The wait time is not an issue particular to Massis. We usually get, and did on this visit, the #11 (Chicken Kabob Boneless) and #12b (Persian Koubideh Chicken) (see menu pics). The kobob varies in quality and is sometimes dry, but on this visit it was not. The Koubideh has never been dry and was of good quality on our visit. If you are not super hungry, then the Koubideh may be big enough to share or you can just share and save room for desert at a near by spot in the food court. The Chicken Kabob is only big enough for one person. In the past, it seemed like we used to get a choice of side (see pic of sides), but this time they did not ask us and just gave us both the Shirazi Salad which we do not care for (we both tossed it). The pickled red cabbage has a much better flavor, but tastes vary. On our next visit we plan to try to remember if we can change the side and recommend you ask them if they do not ask you what side you want. Like everywhere in the post-COVID and government induced inflation world, the prices have gone up. However, the food court is still busy and the ambiance can be pretty noisy. The tables are often sticky and not clean, so we recommend brining you own wet wipes to clean them. Tips: (1) ask if you can get a choice of sides when you order, especially if you don't want Shirazi Salad. (2) try the pickled red cabbage. (3) bring wet wipes for the table. (4) bring your own drinks in a small cooler. (5) expect it to be crowded and noisy. If you want to talk, get take out and go home or eat in your car. (6) Their foood does take a long time to prepare. This is standard for kabob places. Expect to wait. (7) Share the Koubideh to save money or room for dessert. Overall, the 3 star Yelp average is too low for this place. Management needs to get the servers to be more friendly, polite, and helpful and to get the cooks to prepare the food more consistently. This is not a 5 star restaurant, but it should have a 4 star average based on the quality of the food when it is prepared well. We would recommend this place, but expect to wait for your food. Go next door to McDonalds if you are in a hurry.

Haley C.

Yelp
the chicken koubideh is as yummy as I remember. super juicy and pairs so well with the hummus & cucumber tomato salad

Mari J.

Yelp
This place always has line but it's worth the wait. This is in my he food court area near Cheesecake Factory for area reference. Usually order #13 shish kebab with side of salad and tomatoes Everythingnon the menu is good and freshly cooked . Staff are nice but feel rushed because of long lines. Don't forget to ask for Sumac and garlic paste, enjoy not with rice and pita bread.

Yelp
Last weekend, I went on a Mediterranean kick. Had it a few times. One time, this time - in a mall. The food court at The Shops at Santa Anita So, if you know the mall, then you know the parking on the weekends. Be patient and good luck. Or valet Walking into the food court from the parking lot, it's on the left side - can't miss it. Order at the counter. Wait for your food to be ready. While waiting, good luck finding a table - a clean table When your food is ready, go grab it and hopefully, you're not solo so don't lose your table. Don't recommend leaving personal items to show "claim" of your spot. I'm sure I don't need to explain why Anyway, on to the food - see pics. Grabbed both beef and chicken kabobs. I really like their Shirazi salad. Something about the mix of ingredients just tickled my fancy. Also enjoyed the beef more than the chicken and rice. Not that I didn't like any of it - I basically cleared the container down to the last grain of rice. I did give away the tomato and chili though. Wasn't feeling it. I'll just say I enjoyed it enough that I was still craving it the next day and ended up having the same dishes, but at another place. Glad Massis Kabob has locations closer to me on the west side. I'll probably go get more this weekend

El C.

Yelp
Good thing I cut open the chicken kebab before I put it in my mouth.. you know what Gordon Ramsay will say when he sees the picture..

Jessica Y.

Yelp
The store is located inside the Arcadia mall food court. We tried #21 which is a combo of chicken and beef. It comes with rice, pita bread, grilled tomato and jalapeno and side salad of cucumber and tomato. Came out piping hot. It was soooo good. Sometimes I go to places and the rice is mushy. Their rice is the perfect texture here. Meat was tender. Everything was really good.

Carolyn B.

Yelp
Portions are still generous for the price. The buttery basmati rice soaks up all the juice from the chicken kabob. The pita triangles, grilled tomato and jalapeño and cucumber tomato salad compliment the meal. Thr one thing that has changed is they no longer offer the bright orange sauce for the chicken and the sumac shaker is gone. If you ask, they have a Mexican style tomatillo or red sauce on the side. You have to wait a bit for the food because they make it fresh. They have an ice water dispenser near the pick up area.

Marc B.

Yelp
Got beef steak kabob. Half of the steak was extremely tough, like eating rubber. Tomato and jalepeno wears only half cooked. Waste of money for $17. Just go to chipotle!!!

Kevin W.

Yelp
Massis is located inside of the Santa Anita Mall. A lot better than your typical mall food. Ordered to go. Food was ready like stated. Located in the Food Court area. Koubideh Combo - $15.50 - I liked both the ground beef and chicken. Both had good flavor and were not dry. Comes with rice and veggies. Chelo Kabob & Chicken Kabob - $23.95 - Pricier than above but drier. Both were also not as flavorful. Hummus - $5.95 - Basic hummus. Greek Salad $5.95 - Nothing special.

Vicki C.

Yelp
I was really impressed by the food quality at the Kabob place. I ordered the beef koubideh which came with two good sized pieces on a bed of soft rice. It came with a hot pepper, roasted tomato, pita slices, and a cup of cucumber and tomato salad. It's a great deal! Compare that to the nuggets my friends got for $10! I had quadruple the amount of food, maybe more, and it was healthier, relatively, to the fried food options imho.

Rosemarie L.

Yelp
Food is good, but not worth the price. Portions for each dish comes out to be a few (small) pieces of meat and plate full of rice. their baba ganoush is worth the visit tho-- very rich & smoky flavor. I would pass on this place as there are better Mediterranean restaurants in the area worth your money

Deepa N.

Yelp
We used to be regular customers. The quality is starting to decrease. There was way less meat in the kabob platter today and the fries were soaked in oil (we just threw it!). Time to find a different Mediterranean place!

Dyeana B.

Yelp
Unfortunately, when you have horrible customer service taking orders and rude managers, they put such an awful taste in your mouth that it doesn't matter how good the food is. This place does not appreciate there customers in the least bit.

Samantha G.

Yelp
Poor service cashier Apple is rude and manager Claudia is the worst. Management definitely needs to improve staff. Filed a complaint with customer service , they didn't care they don't care about the paying customers. So much for a family business. Do not recommend to anyone visiting this location.

Rivr C.

Yelp
I absolutely love the food here! They really set the bar for mall food and Mediterranean restaurants! They're clean, fast, and attentive to their customers and I always make sure to grab a bite to eat from here every time I come to SoCal! They're modestly priced and always consistent in quality! It's located inside a mall, but once you start enjoying your meal you forget where you are and feel like you're in heaven! Great experience overall!

Taylor W.

Yelp
Massis Kabob is a pretty decent Mediterranean restaurant considering that it's in a mall. The food was filling and it's a good place to go to if you want a cleaner meal since it's not oily. I also love how refreshing the cucumber salad is while youre eating the rest of the meal!!

Finn L.

Yelp
The food they served was cold. I think they prepared the meals too early cause the meat was cold. We had food poisoning, the cucumbers were not fresh. The fries were also cold and hard as rocks, very soggy taste. You need to make your fries soft and delicious. Other places served warm and hot food but this place served my food cold! Bad customer service from the short lady with glasses. she was rude and had attitutde

Eddie C.

Yelp
Food: good quality Mediterranean food at a Food Court in a mall; the salmon kabob, falafel and hummus were solid Service: they BBQ the kabobs there, so it takes about 10 min & they even text you when your food is ready Overall: if you want something healthy and different than your usual Food Court food, then get Massis Kabob

Jason B.

Yelp
Catered them for my kids birthday party. I first have to say exemplary customer service. I made the mistake of booking the catering for the wrong day. Made the phone call two hours before the party. They have the food ready in 20 minutes for 40 people! BOOM! Life and wife savers! On top of that their food was fresh, uniquely tasting and delicious. Was a hit at our party. I think every person came up to me and ask me where this food is from and how great it was. By the way, the hummus is the best around and went quick order extra! Thank you to all the staff and management at Massis Kabob and specifically the Santa Anita Arcadia location! You have earned customer for life! PS- the leftovers lasted for about three days and we're lunch each day and just as good.

Cynthia N.

Yelp
Stop by Massis Kabob this morning. Ordered two #12A. The cucumber and tomatoes sides weren't fresh. Everything was mushy. Don't serve your customers when those veggies are not fresh!!!

Eva C.

Yelp
I actually really like this place, which is especially good for mall food court (kudos for Santa Anita food court overall for adding great options as kiddos love the Korean Beef, Pizza, McDonalds and hubby the spicy noodle soup not to mention ever so hard to get RSVP Ding Tai Fung but this review is about Massis so let's get back to it). When my kiddos wanna eat at the mall, Massis Kabob is my "goto" place often as not many around Arcadia. They have a great selection for the expected chicken and beef kabobs to whole trout to lamb chops! The open flame grill they use is the secret, perfect char! The Food is better than some sitdown restaurants, service and quality are awesome, the convenience is a plus. I've tried everything there and liked everything... literally. It just depends on what I'm in the mood for that day! Give it a try and be the judge for yourself.

Sara B.

Yelp
DO NOT eat here. OMG so salty! The salad was salty which was funny cuz it's just salad. The lamb was OVERly salted. Not real authentic Mediterranean food. The only thing that was okay was the bread. But they don't even give hummus to dip the bread in. Besides bread, it was inedible. It's a food court. I rather eat at McDonald's. Save yourself some money and get anything else in this mall.

Steven M.

Yelp
I come here 5 times a week after my workout. Their food always fills me up and their customer service is phenomenal. I appreciate everyone that works there for remembering my name and order.

Franklin M.

Yelp
I ordered a falafel pita and it was a good size sandwich with vegetables and sauce. They also included some chips that look a bit like potato chips and equally oily. The pita was passable in flavor for a fast food meal.

Vivian A.

Yelp
COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are expected to wear a mask too. Most of the staff also wear gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has no outdoor seating available with limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment today, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment. Note: This location is located in the Westfield Santa Anita Mall. The mall has a no pet policy, but it allows service animals. Parking: Prepandemic, parking here was a massive pain because it was so popular. During the pandemic, parking is very easy to find. Food: I ordered the chicken kabob and beef kabob combo that comes with your choice of sides. For my side, I ordered a hummus to go with some pita bread. I decided to give this establishment a one star for several reasons. First, as you can see in my picture, there is no chicken. They completely forgot to add the chicken to my order. So that's a massive disappointment. Second, the rice was cold and hard like it had been sitting out for a while. Third, the beef was also very disappointing. The beef was flavorless and bland. Another massive let down. Fourth, they forgot my hummus. Looks like the employees really drop the ball on my order today. FAIL! Staff: I waited about a minute or two before the staff even acknowledged me while I was at their counter waiting to order. Easy contactless payment. Waited about 10 minutes for my order to be ready. The staff here looked disappointed to be working on a weekend, but they were nice and friendly. All in all, this visit today was a bust. I don't think I'll be coming here anymore for any Mediterranean food. What a waste of my money today.

Wilbur S.

Yelp
This place has really gone downhill! Service sucks. Walk up to the counter and the cashier (name is Salvador on the receipt) just stares at me. No greeting, no "what would you like?", nothing. And of course, no thank you after ordering! Food isn't good anymore either. Chicken kabob was tasteless! Don't waste your money!

Steph S.

Yelp
Best food option for food court!! I must have ordered their chicken kabob plate at least 10 times now and the chicken always comes out juicy. Their tabbouleh and cucumber yogurt is also a must and don't forget to ask for hot sauce!

Mar R.

Yelp
Got tell you!!!!! passing by the mall with hubby decided to stop at Massis Kabob the food mmmmmmmm my husband had the beef plate he said it tasted old I had the vegan plate it was ok HOWEVER the service was awful they are rude (don't ask to much question it will upset them) won't be coming back to this place again :(

Michael F.

Yelp
The chicken kebab plate has an insultingly small portion for the price. I waited 17 minutes for the order to be ready. It is a plate of a large amount of rice, a small tomato, pepper, 6 scrawny pieces of chicken, and the thinnest pita I've ever seen. I would have gotten more chicken in a 6 piece chicken McNuggets meal. You also get the cucumber salad which is decent. For the price, portion, and wait I will never come back here and do not recommend it to anyone. I asked the employee if this was the normal portion and he confirmed it is indeed the correct portion.

M M.

Yelp
Best salmon kabob and rice ! Great for fast food & even any ! Super fresh , cooked right there on the grill , very juice & full of flavor

Lily T.

Yelp
I used to like to purchase one of the family packs for dinner after a nice day shopping. However, the price has gone up $10 for the family meals. The highest now being $69.95. Just an FYI.

Amy P.

Yelp
Ordered over the phone for pick-up and the food was ready on time. Persian Koubideh Beef Plate ($10.95): Rice, two skewers of ground sirloin beef, pita bread, grilled tomatoes/pepper, and a shirazi salad (chopped cucumbers and tomatoes). Large portions good enough to share or for two separate meals. Ask for the hot sauce - pairs well with the beef and adds a bit more flavor to the entirety of the meal. Located inside the food court, towards the entrance. Customer service is a hit or miss here.

Yeran D.

Yelp
They messed up my order after I clearly stated them what to do. They made me wait longer and did not compensate anything for the wait time even though I have guests waiting at home. The manager was cold and basically her response was too bad for you just wait and we will cook your food again . Honestly, we work too hard to be treated with such disrespect . Human errors happen all the time, but to be treated with such disregard is unacceptable .

Grace J.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed! Meat was burnt. Pita bread is cold and it doesn't come with hummus, so you have to pay extra. Extra pita bread is served in a paper bag. What is this place?? There was clearly a communication issue because we got the wrong plate! We went and told them and the cashier reordered it correctly. The manager had an attitude and asked for our plate and threw it away! So rude!! Poor service, so-so food! Manager needs some customer service training. This is coming from a manager. I don't ever talk to or treat my patients like that. Unless you are trying to lose customers. Well she was successful!

Sonny S.

Yelp
After going to Original Glendale Colorado location, we decided to try Massi's closer to home, what a huge disappointment!! Lack of consistency and food was not as delicious as Glendale, to make things worse is that its the same price and HALF the portion, and was not as fresh and quality of Glendale wasnt close, small portion and stale pita chips and taziki (sp) and hummus tasted old wrote to their customer service via the web and waiting to hear back...This was a 'to go' order so we didn't handle our issues at the food court with them.

Emily P.

Yelp
Food is good but not the server!! Everything has extra pay!!!! I'm asking for Small hummus for my pita bread they are asking me $2 something!!!

Rachel D.

Yelp
Ordered via postmates and I was concerned that it was coming from a food court in the mall. I REALLY enjoyed the food and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was moist and delicious. Rice was yummy and the garlic fries were BOMB. I'm not a big fan of pita bread but theirs is really good and soft. Five stars all the way!

Yelp
Good bang for your buck here. You get a pretty healthy option with huge portions. Got the gyros plate and couldn't finish it. The service was good and you get what you pay for. The cucumber salad tasted a bit stale and the food overall was uninspiring. But hey it's mall food. Recommended if you're looking for a healthy option.

Yelp
I have a soft spot for Massis. Grew up eating their kabobs at their first spot in the Glendale Galleria. I even met the owner, Jack, a gregarious gentleman who was kind enough to spare a couple of minutes to hear me toss kudos his way. Jack passed away not long ago, but his legacy remains with Massis. Sure, they started in a mall, but this is not "mall food" like some of the other ubiquitous garbage you find at most malls. Massis is quality food, and good enough to be considered actual sit-down, restaurant food. You might wait a bit longer than other mall spots, but for a good reason. They cook all of their stuff fresh on the grill, the way my man Jack wanted it done. My go-to when I'm hungry is the #20 combo: the chicken and beef kabob. It's served with a large skewer of beef lule and chicken. The chicken is almost always moist and tender, and the lule cooked just right. They give you a lot of rice, too, so you'll be filled up for sure. Other items of note are the swai and fries (their version of the fish and chips). The swai filets are usually huge and served with a good portion of garlic steak fries. Very nice combo! If you're hungry for some med food and are in the Arcadia or Glendale mall, don't bother with Sbarro or Chipotle. Give Jack's spot a try! You won't regret it.

Yelp
The family packs are a good bargain here. It essentially means you get side dishes for free. We picked Family Pack #24 with a mix of 3 chicken and beef koobideh kabobs each. They were over grilled a bit so that both kebabs had a very aggressive char on the outside, but overall the seasonings were fine. The meal comes with basmati rice which was compressed very tightly into the container, which my husband did not like at all because the rice lost its fluffy texture and caused the rice to congeal and compact. The grilled vegetables included roma tomatoes and jalapenos. I did enjoy the shirazi salad, tabbouli, and hummus.

Yelp
It may be mall food, but it's really good! It is always my go to meal when they're available at the food court. They give you a good portion and food is really flavorful, you can't go wrong. I will always get food from this place, any mall I'll go.

Yelp
Very poor customer service --they refused to remake my food after claiming someone had picked it up on my behalf already. (That was not the case.) Very disappointed as I enjoyed the food here.

Yelp
When I'm at the Santa Anita mall, this is my food of choice! It's relatively healthier than the other options. Don't forget to get the hummus with the meats or it might be too dry. If you go during lunchtime, there's a long wait, so go when it's off hours.
