First-timer at MAST' and I have to say, they are Mast'erful in all they do.
From being attentively greeted and seated as soon as I walked in, I knew slacker-servers could never survive here. Observing from the bar, as I dined, it was clear that MAST' runs like a finely tuned machine that pumps out an array of fantastic food and beverage.
I don't eat meatballs out much, I'm a snob for mamma's only, but gave their Polpettine a try. They were delicious, as was the red sauce that accompanied them.
Next was the Rughetta, an arugula salad with blueberry vinaigrette, goat cheese and roasted almonds. The portion was tremendous and felt like it did the body good (eat fresh fruits and vegetables every day and you'll live long, like the Italians in my family do. Truth!).
Now, for the main reason I came to Mast', the pizza, but not just any pizza, the only AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana - The True Neapolitan Pizza Association) certified in Vera Pizza Napoletana in Massachusetts (translation: you don't have to go to Naples to get authentic Neapolitan-style Pizza, Chef Marco Caputo will save you the airfare). After reviewing the various varieties to choose from, I decided to go all-in on the Porcini Pizza - Porcini mushrooms, sausage (crumbled, the way I prefer it), Gorgonzola, Fior di Latte mozzarella, generous amounts of shaved parmigiano, and last, but not least, the most important part of it all, the pizza dough, that was a truly amazing "stage" for all the flavors of the aforementioned ingredients to perform together.
Yes, I did eat all this food plus 2 Peroni's, a Sorbetto di Limone in a frozen lemon shell and of course, an espresso (I passed on the usual double because I have an early flight tomorrow).
All-in-all, I was blown away by it all - the atmosphere, the staff, the patrons and, of course, the food.
Say this 10 times fast and you'll never forget to visit MAST'...
