The next thing you know, you’ll be ordering a pork, chicken inasal, or tofu skewer, chicken adobo, grilled pork belly, pancit, a couple of lumpia, and a side of annatto rice (toasted annatto seeds add crunch to the complimentary pickled cucumbers). Owners Julia and Paul Pike built a fervid following for fourth-generation chef Paul’s Filipino comfort food popping up around town, and in February snagged the permanent parking space behind Zilliacoah, with seating inside the brewery or riverside picnic tables." - Kay West

I love Master BBQ! Couldn't get enough of them at Zillicoah before Hurricane Helene, then was excited to see them reopen at RAD Brewing, and just as excited on their return to Riverside at Zillicoah. Never had a bad meal and I'm always treated like family!

Wow this Filipino bbq was exceptional!! I had the Master BBQ Sampler and everything in it was amazing. My favorite was the pork belly, it melted in your mouth. The chicken and pork skewers were very good as well, the meat pulled off the skewers easily. Not a single meat gristle piece! Pork lumpias were stuffed with meat and fried so well. Everything came out super hot and fresh. There's a lot of food that comes in this order, eat on an empty stomach!

One of many hidden gems in AVL. The chicken adobo is amazing, but can be sold out sometimes so plan accordingly. The skewer/sauce/rice combo is also a great backup. Love the Zillicoah atmosphere and beer too, of course!

No notes—this place is perfect. Friendly staff, fast service, and food that’s probably unlike anything you’ve had recently. I got the chicken adobo and it was heinously good. Too big a portion for me to eat comfortably in one sitting, so I tried to dodge the white rice to make room for the other bits. But the sauce left behind by the chicken was so delicious I needed to sop it up with rice and eat that too. Now I’m absolutely stuffed and happier than I’ve maybe ever been. I would like to kiss the cheek of everyone involved in bringing this plate to life. Run don’t walk, every minute you live not having had this food is a mistake.

Tenderrr Chicken. Delicious sauces. Yes this is a five star review (disclaimer). However, be careful, as you may wake up the next morning after eating Master BBQ AVL and start believing that you need to do better in life.

First time to visit this place and their food. We didn't find the place right away it was way at the back of a big building, Zillicoah Beer Co. I wish there is a signage to direct you to the food truck. There are picnic tables where you can enjoy nice weather and food. I'm a filipino of course, I ordered chicken adobo. Chicken adobo is a filipino dish that is made of chicken, soy sauce and vinegar and a bit of sugar (for some they add brown sugar) I think the chicken adobo I had today was ok but not great. It should be balance of salty, sour and sweet flavors i didnt taste the sourness/vinegar. But people have different taste and preference. We never know until we try. The staff are friendly and service was fast.

Awesome food truck. It is behind a brewery and next to the river. The food was astounding! Even better is that I enjoyed it with a great view of the river. I didn't even get a chance to try the brewery because I was traveling. Will definitely try it next time!

The lumpia tasted great, just like a typical meat filled spring roll. Very crunchy and the sweet chili sauce you get pairs as well. Actually, not sure if that is the sauce, but whatever you get with it is good. The rice I thought was just a little bland, it did not have much flavor so maybe it's better with some kind of meat you can mix in. Still, solid food and would recommend!

I saw an on Instagram with a picture of their lumpia, and after trying them, they do taste as good as they look!!! My BF and I shared the Master BBQ platter with pork skewers, pickled cucumber, rice, and lumpia, and it was excellent! The staff is wonderful, they are so friendly and the service is excellent! The ambiance of the river flowing right next to the outdoor tables while you eat is amazing. We will definitely be back soon!
