The Best Restaurants and Bars at the Mall of America | Eater Twin Cities

"Master Noodle (formerly Magic Noodle) is known for the fresh, hand-pulled noodle dishes it prepares daily in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood, and now the restaurant has a location at the Mall of America. Start with an order of pork soup dumplings or shrimp shumai — as far as noodles go, the standouts on this menu are the rich, brothy soups: Lanzhou beef with bright scallions and radishes; Taiwanese beef brisket in an acidic tomato broth; and others." - Justine Jones

Google
First time trying. The menu pics looked good, so I tried it with a friend. This is a popular place, particularly with the Asian crowd... I don't know why... First came the steamed dumplings ($7.25 for 6). There was an immediate strange taste in the dumplings. Something tasted pretty bad. I had the General Tso's chicken ($14.25). The chicken looked good, but the same odd taste in the dumplings was in the chicken. It tasted fishy. It seems like the oil they used to cook the chicken was the same for the dumplings. The noodles also tasted fishy. My friend said his chicken dish also had that same taste. He didn't like the taste of the white rice. The service was great, always topping off our water. Unfortunately, the food just isn't good. My palate could be off, I spent the previous 10 years in Korea (8.5) and Vietnam (1.5) and recently returned to Mn. I'm used to Asian food (a lot of local Vietnamese and Korean food), and when I ate Chinese food, it was mostly Korean-chinese food. It was $23.44, including tax.

I ordered their most popular beef noodle soup to go. It was great perfect for a comforting meal that's not to heavy. The broth was so flavorful. Didn't get as much meat as the $18 I paid and the "homemade" noodles tasted like regular noodles but the broth and fresh herbs and green onion was so good.

So good!! Great atmosphere, DELICIOUS food (get the noodle soup!) Not too busy, service was great, their food is incredibly flavorful. Highly recommend, 11/10

Master Noodle is my all-time favorite noodle shop! You can watch them make both the hand pulled noodle and also the shaved noodle! Both of them are excellent, and I would recommend ordering one of each, no matter you, order the noodles in a soup or a dry noodle bowl. The bone cylinder and beef shank are usually our go to appetizers. They are quick and delicious! The steamed dumplings are also flavorful and very well done! The noodle soups are absolutely fantastic! After the third visit, the waitress told me that they can mix and match the noodles with the broth. So you can decide if you want the pulled noodle or shaved noodle and then you choose the broth you prefer and they can make that combination happen! When you walk in, you are greeted with a smiling face from the server behind the counter. The dining room always has room for dining in. The waitresses are very friendly and check in with the progress of your order as well as how you enjoy the food.

Google
The food was absolutely delicious! They don’t skimp on food. I had the beef brisket noodle soup. My wife had plenty of big shrimp and her plate was also delicious. The waitresses can be more respectful and kind. Not always a welcoming feeling. The atmosphere is pleasant and cozy.

Why haven’t I tried this place before? Without beating around the bush, I would recommend this to anyone who loves Chinese food and especially noodles. Master noodles truly is authentic and the quality is superb! I didn’t know about this place and have been shopping and dining in the area for decades. It’s pretty new and near Q. Cumbers. I had the Master Noodle with the two beef rib bones. Soooo delicious. I wish I had ordered a tea egg with it. My fiancée had the noodle beef dish and she loved it. I was surprised it wasn’t busy but I have a feeling by next year this place is going to be packed. Dishware and over all ambiance is excellent. Grear for casual dining, date, or business lunch. I took a take out menu so I could study it for my next visit!!!! Love it! A+

Google
I was craving a burger, but didn't want lunch to be too unhealthy. Therefore, I opted for this place. This is located in a strip mall, so parking was no issue. The food was good!!! I got the most expensive noodle dish with 2 beef ribs and oh man! It was good! Fall off the bone tender ribs, Rich broth, and great noodles. I even downed the broth at the end because it's that good. I also got the original milk boba tea with low sugar. The tea was exceptional and comparable to other places. The service was also exceptional all around. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for Chinese noodles.

Google
The food was really good. The noodles are hand pulled and are chewy and absorb the soups flavors so well. The food was delicious. The noodles have a smokiness to then that I absolutely loved. The broth is very flavorful, meaty, and hearty. We ordered the steamed beef dumplings, garlic edamame, Taiwanese tomato beef brisket noodle soup, and the garlic chicken fried noodles. Everything was delicious. The service was super fast and the servers were kind. The interior decor was really impressive.

Yelp
Master Noodle is exactly what its name promises... mastery in motion, one slurp at a time. If you've never watched fresh noodles pulled by hand right before hitting the wok or broth, you're in for a show--and a meal that punches way above its price point. The spicy beef noodle soup was deep and soulful--a broth with layers of umami, gentle heat, and a kiss of Sichuan tingle. The noodles? Chewy, springy, and gloriously irregular--each bite a reminder that real craftsmanship isn't uniform, it's personal. I also sampled their cumin lamb stir-fry, which was pure fire... crispy edges on the lamb, intense aromatics, and wok hei that would impress any Shanghai street vendor. Every plate was plated with heart, not flash. Service was fast and friendly. The staff offered recommendations, handled dietary tweaks with ease, and made the experience feel warm and neighborly. The space is clean, casual, and efficient--perfect for quick lunches or comforting solo dinners. This isn't a chain trying to impress you with neon signs. This is a culinary dojo where flavor takes the black belt.

Yelp
My brother and I just finished a movie at AMC at Southdale and we decided to take a small walk to Master Noodle. We ordered a beer and their bowl of soup that my brother recommended. Very clean place and our server was great. The beer went perfectly with the soup, it had a hard boiled egg and some meat and the broth was amazing, I could tell it was made of stock. So good! Great ramen soup and reasonably priced, I will go back!

Yelp
Out of town review Came in on a Tuesday. They weren't busy, we were the only ones eating for a bit. Love the decor inside the restaurant. Ordered the pan fried dumplings, won ton in chili oil, HK pork chop and rice, and master noodle. The dumplings only have the beef option. Dumplings were ok, glad we got fried over steam other wise I think it would taste more like a wonton. Was expecting the dough to be thicker but still taste great. Won ton in chili oil was not spicy at all. I have no spice tolerance and I couldnt taste any heat but still good flavor. The HK pork chop I would consider more a Taiwanese style. Good fry on it and pork was flavorful and tender. My husband had the master noodle. Good nice big portion size and some heat. Decent Chinese food, not sure why they arnt more busy. Overall 4/5 stars

Yelp
I've driven past Master Noodle several times and have always had an urge to try it out. Today was that day. I ordered the Spicy Chongqing Noodle Soup, I was slightly underwhelmed. There wasn't much pork in there and the noodles didn't really soak in the flavor of the broth, overall despite being spicy this dish was rather bland. The ambiance was fun and made it feel like you were in a Chinese cafe. Don't think I'd go back.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE. We went her after going to play mini golf. As soon as we finished our meal I stated that I wanted to come here for my upcoming birthday. The Food was sooooo good. I got the bang bang noodles the first time I went. The second time I got spicy (some name I don't know how to pronounce) noodle soup. The service was so good both times. The ambience was really fun too. Would recommend. The only funny thing was that they seemed to be trying to decide between master noodle and magic noodle as a name. Everything was one or the other but hardly anything was the same name. Love you master noodle. #weloveMasternoodle.

Yelp
First time trying Master Noodle. Overall, pretty good. I tried the Biang Biang after reading reviews here. It had great flavor! However, a few reviews raved about the super fresh hand-pulled noodles. I could tell they were hand made, but seemed clumpy and stuck together and not exactly the most fresh. Also, wish there had been a few more of the cucumbers and other veggies to balance out the ratio to the noodles. My husband had the Chongqing Spicy Chicken. He thought it was tasty but thought it could have used more heat and some more vegetables mixed in. We agreed we'd definitely come back, but will both try other dishes next time. Take out order was ready quickly and an easy pickup.
google avatar

Kolade B.

Yelp
Easy parking, quick service. Went there during off peak hours and did not have to wait to get served. They have a variety of options from beef, chicken, to shrimp. I ordered beef. I did not have to jazz up the noodles with chili flakes because the they have a 1-5 spice level option. I ordered a medium spice level just to play safe.
google avatar

Linn P.

Yelp
Came here cause I thought they had Taiwanese beef rolls. I asked the server and she said they had beef burritos and it's not the same as beef rolls. When looking at pics. It looked like burrito made with tortilla. So I didn't get it. Instead we got one master noodle to share. Normally I love beef ribs in my noodle soups. This one was hard to chew, quite tough and not fall off the bone. So it made it harder to have a beef noodle soup. Should have stuck with the sliced brisket instead. The soup was tasty and mild spicy. I did ask for more mustard greens bc I didn't see any in the bowl. The server looked annoyed to get me some mustard greens. Oh well. We would not be in this area to come here again.

Yelp
I work 5 minutes from here and went on my lunch break. The customer service was amazing. Service was fast and efficient. Parking at lunch can be difficult but luckily for me a car was pulling out right in front of the restaurant. The Biang biang noodles were spicy. I opted to add beef for more protein. Cute decor and will definitely go again.

Yelp
Tucked away in a strip mall in Edina, we decided to try this restaurant while walking at nearby Centennial Park. The service was good and we were happy that they had child chopsticks for our son to use. The food was good (it wasn't what I would consider great which is why I rated 4 stars) but I felt like it needed a little more flavor. The decorations and TV kept our son entertained.
google avatar

Rimma B.

Yelp
We made a reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant was fairly empty due to the fresh snow so we got a cozy booth in the back. We were given several menus to look at and decided on the scallion pancakes for an app. Very good! It was more like a crepe than a thick pancake. Light, delicate and came with a soy-like sauce. For our mains, we went with the Taiwanese Noodle Soup and the Biang Biang noodles. Both excellent. We both ended up going home with leftovers. My soup was just as rich and delicious the next day. The soup has generous chunks of beef, fresh tomato and carrots.

Yelp
My husband and I tried this place for a date night and really enjoyed our meal. The service was friendly and fast. The food was fresh and very tasty! Nice casual setting but cute decor. We will for sure be back!
google avatar

Sheri S.

Yelp
I have passed by this restaurant numerous times but did not bat an eye. One week night a group of us headed over to check this place out. For apperizers we shared Scallion pancakes and cream cheese wontons. The scallion pancakes were so good and definitely tempting. The cream cheese wontons were also good but the pancakes won for the apps. I ordered the chicken friend rice and tried some of the Bang Bang noodle. Everything was so good. Plus, I enjoyed the Taro bubble tea. The dinner was so satisfying and flavorful. The staff was helpful and attentive. This place was such a pleasant surprise I will definitely return.

Yelp
It was nice to see an Asian eatery in the Edina area next to Centennial lakes. The parking lot is huge so there are no problems finding parking. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the staff was friendly. I ordered the beef burrito and the Shanxi shaved noodle soup. The wrapper for the beef burrito was excellent, it was flaky and crispy but the beef inside was slightly tough to chew and could use more flavor. The noodle soup had excellent flavor and the broth was really tasty. The noodles were a little underdone for my taste but if you like al dente, then these are perfect for you. Seeing as how this is located in the Midwest, the restaurant is pretty good in comparison to the other Asian restaurants in the area.
google avatar

Anne C.

Yelp
Food is great, we order takeout every Sunday, same items. Shanxi noodle soup and spicy beef shank. Every time we order, there's a lady that picks up, verify it's for Edina and then acts like its I'm bothering them to place an order. No big deal, it's good Chinese takeout, willing to put up with it. This week, the lady gave me the wrong soup and then blamed me. Her manager didn't care, just made the new order. Let's not blame the customer especially when you're not understanding when I'm pronouncing it correctly. Not sure good food is worth this hassle

Yelp
Guys, this place is amazing. I didn't know noodles could taste this good. I had been hearing about how amazing this place is for a long time and finally made my way here. I am upset I took so long to eat here, cause I could easily make a habit of coming here... We got some potstickers for a starter, loved them fried! I ordered the garlic fried noodles and some jasmine tea. It was so so good. Like I want to eat this all the time! Had a great flavor and a perfect amount of heat. My mom got the fried rice which I thought was super good! Everyone loved their meals, there were no complaints. Staff were super nice and friendly. Looking forward to coming back and tasting everything on their menu.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is authentically Asian! Great noodles that are house made and authentic flavors! My wife and I can't believe we just discovered this recently as they've been operating for almost 4 years! Fast service even when they seem to be understaffed as the team really hustles and they have an electronic system to take your order table side. Small but good selection of beer and wine. Wide selection of boba tea and nonalcoholic drinks, definitely kid friendly. Casual ambiance and good for groups! Worth a try! I think you'll get hooked like we did!
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Saw a movie at Southdale on Christmas Day and looked for a good Chinese restaurant. This was an amazing find! We split spring rolls and an amazing noodle dish--would go back for any of the noodles dishes when in the area.

Daisy W.

Yelp
I've gone here a couple times and each time they serve tasty and authentic Chinese food! My favorite is the shanxi shaved noodle soup, it's very flavorful and the broth is delicious. If you come here I recommend also getting the scallion pancakes! The food is not as salty as American food, but it's still has yummy and comforting flavors.

Isabelle D.

Yelp
Overall, I had a pleasant and great meal at Master Noodle. I ordered the Scallion Pancakes, some chicken fried noodles, and beef tomato noodle soup. I loved the beef noodle soup! There were so many noodles and the soup wasn't scolding hot. Servers were quick and extremely nice. It also wasn't too busy when I went.
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
Oh you your noodles are so good its hard ti say anything bad about the food other than the price point is a bit too high so ill get it only occasionally
google avatar

Mihir P.

Yelp
it was just ok. I got the garlic chicken noodles and wife got the sesame chicken. the good: the noodles had a nice chewy texture the bad: the sauce on both was wayyyy too sweet. my wife couldn't eat hers because it was so sweet I might go back and try the soup, because I feel like if be hard to make that super sweet. but I wouldn't recommend either of our dishes because of the incredibly sweet sauces on both
google avatar

Rhonda G.

Yelp
Not the same vibe as the original in St. Paul. I got biang biang noodles. Like I thought I could relive my Seattle experience. First they weren't wide enough or juicy enough. I found it strange they didn't have iced tea. The new items were Chinese standards, which makes them like everybody else. I didn't like the dark decor. I'm gonna have to stay on the poor side of town for this one.
google avatar

Rochelle 'Shella' T.

Yelp
I didn't have a lot of expectation for Chinese food when we were looking for good Chinese cuisine at Edina. Noodle was always a safe option for us. My son is a big noodle fan. Especially if there's Beef Noodle Soup in the menu. I like how they have preserved cucumber, which is not something I can get just any Chinese restaurant. And they made theirs very tasty with a hint of spice. My daughter got the pork chop. It was a generous serving of meat and rice. If my appetite could've accommodated it, I would have ordered everything in their appetizer menu. Every dish was delicious! Would love to go back to try the other dishes.
google avatar

Ingi E.

Yelp
This gem in Edina is perfect for lunch. I've had the Taiwanese Tomato Beef Brisket Noodle Soup for takeout a handful of times, as well as the beef burrito, but this was my first dine-in experience. We got the Biang Biang Noodles with Chicken and a Chicken Curry with Rice. Both were great! The biang biang noodles have sichuan peppercorn and make your tongue tingle! Plenty of parking (welcome to suburbia!) and a perfect location to take a walk at Centennial Lakes before or after eating. Service was fairly quick, though it took a few minutes to get seated. We ended the meal with a refreshing lychee watermelon tea with lychee jelly.
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
Quiet ambience and nice atmosphere! Brought our kids on a cold winter day and Master Noodle didn't disappoint! The staff was attentive and fast. Refilled our glasses fast! The soup dumplings, potstickers and fried rice were our highlights! Pillowy potstickers!!! Food was top notch. Only wish was that it was a little spicier! Try this place!
google avatar

Billy S.

Yelp
After 3 months nothing from the owner/Mgr. Guess they don't care! One would think if you're a reputable business that you would try to address all concerns made by customers. NOT SURPRISED!
google avatar

Jake H.

Yelp
Noodles are great. Place is fantastic. Garlic chicken noodles probably fav dish, but everything is very solid
google avatar

Bonnie D.

Yelp
After 2 more visits - one a date with my husband, and the other a family dinner, I have 2 more recommendations! 1. The Sichuan Wonton in Chili Oil - AMAZING! My husband, myself, and my 3 boys love this dish; we even eat the oil it comes in. We will probably order it every time we go. 2. Biang Biang Noodles - so flavorful - definitely a favorite!
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Quick and easy place to grab a fun food. Our kids (5,7) are really picky eaters (eye roll) and they LOVED it here, the noodles were wonderful for those who are boring (like my kiddos) to my husband who wants all of the flavor. And you get to watch them make the noodles which is a fun event for kids We are heading back soon
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
Was very good food. Noodles were even better the next day as leftovers! We'll Return for sure!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Good is yummy fresh and the noodles are made in house. This is my second or third time eating here and both meals are enjoyable. I love the broth in the soup base. Nice flavor. Staff is kind and attentive.
google avatar

Taiming H.

Yelp
Master Noodles was good. Beef dumplings were awesome and tastes. Service was good. I will come again next time.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
Feeling very grateful to have moved to live right by this spot. Their food is AWESOME. I got their biang biang noodles and oh my goddddd. They're to die for. The noodles taste so fresh and the sauce is awesome. I devoured my noodles and wanted more the next day. The staff were very attentive and kind. I will most definitely, definitely be coming back (and probably way more often than I should lol).

Ryan W.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend anything with their homemade noodles. I always leave wishing I had more room in my stomach for more. The employees are super kind and we got our food very fast.
google avatar

Emilie P.

Yelp
I've been dying for a good Chinese restaurant in the twin cities. I used to live for several years in China and love me some noodles. So I was so excited to try this place after a recommendation from some friends. It was terrible. So sweet and salty and completely inedible. I don't understand why Chinese restaurants want to try to appeal to western palates? Real Chinese food is amazing and would do so well here. I gave an extra star because the parking and service was good. Just too bad about the food.

Katie S.

Yelp
Very good! Both service and food made for a nice lunch. It was quiet when I was there around noon on a weekend. A negative for me is the noodles were a little too stiff, a bit more al dente than I expected but I liked the broth a lot and pork was tender! I'll be back to try more flavors.
google avatar

Bee V.

Yelp
I came in with a party of 6, right when they opened. There were also a few other people ahead of us, so it's always a good sign when people arrive right when they open! I was greeted and got a table right away. Fast and friendly service, I had the Sichuan Wonton in Chili Oil (Highly recommended), Thai Tea and the Braised Egg Braised pork rice (Has the option to be rice or noodles). They were very delicious and enjoyable. The servers came and check up on us a few times and came around with water for refills. I love the environment here, as they played good and relaxed pop music, for a chillax setting. I will be back, as there are other great amazing dishes to try! Plus, the noodles are handmade!
google avatar

Natalie Y.

Yelp
Pretty solid authentic Chinese food in the twin cities! This location hand pulls their noodles. I got a beef noodle and it was quite delicious and satisfying! The noodles were fresh, bouncy and a good length. You can literally see the chefs/sous chefs pulling the noodles in the back where you are eating. The decor and ambience is quite nicely decorated! I recommend coming here on a cold night if you are craving authentic Asian noodles. Parking is super easy as it is in a big plaza. My only comment is that the spicy wonton in chili oil was a bit salty for my liking. But other than that a solid experience!
google avatar

Sean P.

Yelp
Started off with the Sichuan Wonton in Chili Oil, which was a pretty good value. Easily shareable, affordable, and while it didn't necessarily "knock your socks" off it still packed a little spice and some flavor into its compactness. Next up was the Biang Biang noodle which I am a bit torn on. The early bites seemed a bit dry and less flavorful than those which soaked in the bottom of the dish through the meal. It almost seemed like a bit more broth was needed to bring those flavors together throughout the meal. Sadly, this range from bland to good in the same dish lead me to a middling 3-star review but with a note that there is upside potential.

Keith P.

Yelp
The food there is worth every bite. We traveled over 5 hours to get their noodles again and it still is of great quality. Noodles are the freshest we ever had in our life. Today we ordered the biang biang and it was nice fresh tasting. Also got shrimp kung pao and it hit the spot! I would travel here again and again!
google avatar

Cristina W.

Yelp
Handpulled noodles FTW. Tucked away in a shopping strip, came here twice during a weeklong business trip, because it was THAT good. If you're into spicy, I highly recommend the Chongqing Spicy Noodle Soup. I subbed the noodles with the thicker Biang Biang noodles - it was the right decision. The scallion pancake is delightful as well. Service is friendly and on point.
google avatar

Tom F.

Yelp
I've searched high and low for a place in Minnesota with good noodles and Master noodle met my expectations. I'm a huge biang biang noodle fan and they were excellent. I was also happy to see dishes like Taiwanese beef noodle soup on the menu which I will definitely be going back for soon. The service was great and the server very attentive and knowledgeable. The dining room was well kept, and had a great energy to it. If you're craving noodles this is a must try!
google avatar

Daniel Y.

Yelp
Great little noodle shop, The noodles are hand stretched and the tame has a nice texture to chew. Bunch of my team members want to come here for the master noodle soup. This comes with beef rib bones in a rice beef broth, Ramen. We Oder a assortment of apps to begin with. And I inquired with the waiter what the huge bowls was for and he indicated they have a ramen noodle soup challenge. It is the equivalent to the portion of 4 individual bowls of noodle soup and it has to be finished in 30 mins. If you don't finish in time you'll have to pay for the cost of the soup and if you do finish in time, the noodle soup would be on the house and a $25 gift card. Needless to say I was both intrigued and was challenged, and my team member's was also egging me on for the challenge. So I completed the challenge with a little more than 2 mins to spare. So officially I am the 1st person so far to beat the challenge!!!
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
I wish I could 3.5 stars. Food a 4 biang biang was best by far lots of veggies would not choose beef as it was tough. Garlic shrimp noodles was decent wish it had a little more heat- both great portion sizes. Service is what I knocked it down for this not a place I would eat inside again- server had no recommendations and was irritated when we asked for utensils. Ambiance is comfortable inside when we went had lots of young children running around and crying so kind of tough to have a conversation
google avatar

Homer I.

Yelp
The food was very delicious. Overall service was OK, but they were really polite. Great location off of Centennial Lakes.
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
Pulled noodles are fresh and yummy, however, the flavor of the beef noodle soup seems like it's lacking to me.. I've been here 2-3 times already and to give it another shot, and I feel the same way each time. However, it does satisfy a craving!
google avatar

Sam N.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Wonderful atmosphere. Our waitress was great and helped us tone down the spice for some of the dishes. The food was incredible and everyone in our group was satisfied. After we tasted the food we realized that less spice meant very minimal so if you are a spice lover maybe ask for half spice. They also had boba tea which two of us ordered. It was defiantly up to par with my other favorite places. I will be coming back to Master Noodle.
