Best specialty coffee shop in the bay area, hands down. For pourover enthusiasts, it doesn't get any better. Whether you're deep into pourover or need an alt-milk latte, these guys deliver in an uncompromising, intimate setting with a super focused menu. I think you gotta enjoy this now before they blow up and scale up. They're rotating globally top-tier coffee brands like Tim Wendelboe and Big Sur, while also being a micro-roaster themselves with a specialization in Chinese origin coffee. The curation is second to none, everything is superb. Pourover and espresso are all faultless. The gear on the bar is all unmatched and cutting-edge, think Dragonfly and Orea drippers and I've actually seen them brew with (not cheap at all) Sibarist Fast filters. The cups are absolutely dialed in with hyper clarity. These are real-deal pourover gods. The milk drinks are so elegant that you can pick anything and be sure it'll be good. I could go on and on... but will just say this is the finest specialty coffee experience in the bay right now. Oh, and they're super nice guys.

One customer of one coffee shop at Oakland introduced us to this coffee shop. It is tiny coffee shop at Berkeley. It is interesting that they source the coffee beans are from China. Inside is clean snd neat. It shares space with one other store. The seating is outdoor. We came when it is almost closed. We ordered tea, Kuro and Shiro coffee and latte. All are kind of special drink which you don't get them from other coffee shop. Their speciality is the pour over coffee. I think the person who prepared our order is the owner and he is nice. It is interesting there is white sasame seed and black sesame seed on the coffee latte. Our coffee and tea are good. The coffee is not that strong. The tea are unique. We also get pastries and because it is almost closed we get buy one get one. They also sell merchandise, and coffee beans. The coffee beans are around 24 dlrs. Pricewise yhe coffee and tea are reasonable. Will visit next time to try the pour over coffee.

Their coffee is really good, and the coffee beans are from Yunnan. No matter which coffee you order, you can taste their care. They also constantly mix seasonal coffees and roast the coffee beans themselves. I recommend this coffee shop not only because I am from Yunnan, but also because it is really hard to drink such carefully made coffee here. Most coffees are produced on assembly lines, which is a waste of time.

Easily the best slow bar coffee shop in the country! Tried their whole menu one after the other. It was my first time trying gout and co coffees and they were exceptional. The care Ling takes in curating recipes for each coffee is super intentional. Can't recommend this place enough.

We're lucky in Berkeley/Oakland to have some passionate artisans in both roasting and brewing of coffee. Young Sun represents the passion, care, and craft at Masterpiece Coffee. If you're a coffee normie, he's humble enough not to inundate you with the multitudes of decisions he's making in the crafting of your pourover cup, however if he finds out you're a coffee nerd, too (and if there's not other people waiting), he's enthusiastic about engaging in discussion and sharing his thoughts on various topics. I was so delighted to have a pourover of Lao Xu Zhai coffee from Yunnan, China, brewed by him. It was a work of art. Between the care of crafting the water, water temperature, the grind, the brew technique. The result was a bombastic explosion of guava, berries, wine, spice with a backbone of acidity that balanced out a delicate sweetness. THAT was a very impressive pourover. To get a chance to chat it up with someone else who shares that passion of precision craft—as well as a roaster, too—was a delight. The others in my party got the "Saffron", which is a black tea latte made with oat milk that mixes in both plum and saffron. I sampled a sip and can easily say it'll delight anyone wanting something that's more interesting than your typical sugar milk latte drink at most cafes. I love the creativity and craft here, and am already looking forward to the next visit.

Masterpiece is easily the best destination for pour-overs in the Bay Area. The owners are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. They’re always happy to share and geek out over the tools (toys) and techniques with you. What sets them apart beyond their skill is their ability to source beans from world-class roasters you simply won’t find anywhere else in the area. Even if you’re there for the slow bar (or not), don't forget to try their seasonal espresso drinks, they are creative and unique in a way you won't find elsewhere. And, of course, they're delicious.

This place has such unique coffee. I tried the Shiro Coffee, and it was absolutely delicious! It’s definitely a hidden gem. The vibe is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a quiet break or catching up with a friend. Highly recommend for coffee lovers looking for something special.

What a gem! Delicious coffee (with some single origin beans from China!) and friendly service. It has a lovely side garden that is really peaceful and would make for a nice sunny spot to hang out and read. There’s a shop next door that wasn’t open yet but I will be back to check that out too.

My goodness, what a find! Located at the back of Min'na Boutique is an absolutely charming and unique coffee mini cafe. A delightful young man named Yeung, (pronounced 'young') left tech to create his own coffee brand. Enjoy the delicious blends he creates and purchase items from the most unique boutique in the area offered by the owner of Min-na, Elena. The blends are with ingredients one would never think of. I had the Shiro. Coffee with oatmilk (the only milk available ,which I love anyway) and miso! Yes, Shiro miso! It tasted like liquid, rich, homemade coffee with caramel ice cream with a teeny tiny bit of sugar sprinkles on top. I LOVED IT!

Wonderful coffee, kind service, and beautiful environment. We tried the new Hong (紅) oatmilk Latte made with Gochugaru + Chocolate with sichuan peppercorn -- as well as their Shiro oatmilk Latte made with White Miso + Brown Sugar with sesame seeds. The drinks were crafted perfectly. They also serve decaf coffee, tea, hojicha, and matcha! They also feature pastries such as pineapple bun, butter croissant, black sesame snickerdoodle cookies, and much more. We drive about two hours to be here with my family and we had a lovely experience. We can't wait to be back!

Coffee - Excellent!! Atmosphere- Peaceful and quiet Great place for quick stop to enjoy mindfulness with aromatic coffee

This place is truly a hidden gem. It has its own entrance on the side, but you can get there through a store front as well. You may think to yourself "how good can this little coffee set up be at the corner of this store?" The answer is very. They have a nice little patio, and a couple seats inside. The coffee is so good. The kuro is delicious if you love sweet drinks. I prefer less sweet and he was able to accommodate. There is decaf here as well. You can purchase the beans, I saw a few kinds (including the decaf). One kind had notes of longan, wine, and jackfruit and you could definitely smell it from the beans in the bag. It's a bit pricy here, but very tasty. All drinks were made with oat milk. A friend doesn't love oat milk and said she couldn't tell and didn't bother her. There were also a few good looking treats (croissants, black sesame snickerdoodle). We will 100% be back.

Yong is a curator of coffee beans from all over the world including China. His pours are brewed at the right temperatures to bring out the flavors of each particular bean without burning your tongue or the flavor out. Cute little shop in the back of an arts collective that includes a vintage clothing shop and a kids store.

Love this place that's tucked inside the equally lovely shop Min'na. Super unique latte lineup. Got the Shiro (miso! roasted sesame seeds!) and the seasonal Hong (gochugaru! Sichuan peppercorn!) lattes - both were delicious and not too sweet. Can get it hot or iced. Definitely coming back to try the others!

This gem is located in the back of a really cute children's store. I got a mocha and a Matcha tea, both were excellent. The Matcha he grinds himself the traditional way. This really is a great little drink place. The barista was so nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Next time I go I want to allow more time and browse the children's store that this drink area is housed in. It has really cute children's toys and educational items. Definitely worth going back to!

Everything is so intentional - lattes, people, recipes, ambiance. The latte flavors are heavenly and every drink is beautiful. The green latte with matcha and the shiro latte with espresso and miso are our go-tos. In my dreams they would also make a latte with organic coconut sugar or maple syrup! I LOVE that the space is shared with such a sweet shop that has a great collection of high quality second hand clothing and goods! Just wish they had a couple more tables inside- but space doesn't allow and they've made it more spacious with a lovely outdoor seating area.

The menu is simple but has the essentials. I got a great recc and attention from staff. I got Kuro & Green, very impressed! Loved the roasted flavors in the Kuro. A lot of places make matcha (Green) too sweet, and I loved it here, the bitterness and flavors of the matcha were fantastic. For someone who cannot have dairy, having an Oat Milk only menu is such a treat! Thank you!

24 hours after visiting Masterpiece Coffee and my fiancé is still talking about how delicious the Kuro was. "Espresso + Okinawa black sugar + milk. Topped with sea salt." We both loved this drink and a little quiet time in the outdoor seating area next to the building. Highly recommend a visit!

Masterpiece lives up to its name. After trying every specialty coffeehouse in the East Bay over the 7 years I've lived here, Masterpiece is unequivocally the best. Masterpiece is a one-man operation run by its owner, Young. He manages the storefront, prepares every drink, and roasts the coffee himself. The menu is incredibly simple and every drink is insanely delicious. As of this writing, Masterpiece was serving a Chinese coffee from the only region in China that produces speciality-grade coffee. We got it on pour over and it tasted like wine, flowers, and just overall deliciousness. It's insane. But what I really appreciate about Masterpiece is that the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. Despite the insane quality of coffee that Young serves, the price is actually incredibly reasonable (much more inexpensive than other places nearby) and the overall vibe is in no way pretentious. This place is perfect. Great prices, lovely atmosphere, incredible quality, and an amazing staff. You must go.

Great coffee! The barista was also super friendly and very knowledgeable about coffee and tea. It was nice chatting with him. I do wish that they had whole milk and not just oat!

Please come to this oasis on San Pablo Ave! The indoor and outdoor spaces are lovely, and the coffee is divine! The Kuro coffee literally blew my mind...hands down the Best, most balanced latte I've ever had. For vegans and lacto intolerant folx, they only use oat milk! And BakeSum pastries, woo hoo!

While wandering through San Pablo Ave in Berkeley, my friend and I followed the signs to Masterpiece Coffee. We were pleasantly surprised to find a serene and impeccably clean café in this quiet city. We ordered a cappuccino and a latte, both of which were fresh and delicious. We discovered a lovely outdoor seating area surrounded by lush vegetation. It was the perfect spot to chat, dream, or work through our troubles in a safe and happy environment.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Berkeley for the day and wanted some coffee and I'm so glad I came across Masterpiece Coffee! Young was so welcoming, friendly, and very personable. I ordered the Kuro and my boyfriend ordered their special that is hard launching in January(don't remember the name, it had sechuan peppercorn) . Both were delicious with their own unique spin on them. 10/10 would highly recommend to a friend!

Oh how I wish I lived closer!! this is THE BEST coffee!! the garden is delightful! Every offering of this excellent coffee shop is curated from the finest pastry and sweets, tea and the beans brew up into the smoothest finest brew. This shop is a GEM!
