The food and fish is always fresh and delicious. Amie always recommends the best dishes according to my taste. I totally recommend the casino and baba mussels. I don’t know what he puts in the sauce of the baba mussels but it is so good!!

The staff are the sweetest and always so caring! This is the best place for fish as it is always fresh. Drinks are phenomenal! Shoutout to Amie for being so kind and patient!

The large restaurant is located in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn. They prepare Japanese cuisine. I ordered the salmon teriyaki bento box which consisted of a generous portion of salmon with mixed vegetables, shrimp and vegetable tempura, white rice, four shumai, California roll and a choice of soup or small side salad. The sushi and sashimi combination included five pieces of sushi and ten pieces of sashimi with a choice of soup or small side salad. The sashimi was cut in thick slices. The food was fresh and good quality. The prices are higher than other similar restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff.

I recently dined at Masuta and had an exceptional experience. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The fish was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rice was seasoned just right. The presentation was beautiful, and the variety of rolls and sashimi offered something for everyone. I particularly loved the wasabi crackers, which had a delightful combination of ingredients. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive. For the first time in forever I have tasted some really delicious sushi rolls! The music was great - all good pop classics like Britney Spears and Rihanna. I loved the cocktail. The servers were friendly. We had sushi rolls Sasha, Boston, Emmons and Spicy tuna. For drinks it was Aperol Spritz and White Russian. Some sushi roll names were funny for example “Medvedev”. We loved that the music is not too loud so we could hear each other. The overall dinner for two plus green tea was under 80 dollars!!! Very reasonable! I am looking forward to coming back!

There are a number of Japanese restaurants in this area and I keep wanting to try it out, so the fiancé finally agreed we tried. Upon entering, the restaurant is quite huge but wasn't busy on a Saturday lunch time. I ordered the Halloween Roll ($17.95) and Chirashi Lunch ($14.95). The Halloween roll was recommended by the waiter and it was a great choice. I noticed other tables getting this roll as well. As for the chirashi, I like the lunch special price but it was just ok. I also found it weird that it was served on a platter instead of a bowl with the sashimi over the rice. The fiancé got the Hibachi Steak ($24.95), which was pretty standard. Great spot for your sushi cravings. Their rolls are where it's at, so I'd stick to those next time. They also offer a cheaper price if paying cash.

I live just a two-minute walk from MASUTA Sushi and have dined here for many years, even before the current owner took over. On a few occasions, I opted for delivery, but each time my experience was disappointing. I thought perhaps it was just a one-off incident, so I continued to give them another chance. However, my most recent order far exceeded my expectations, and not in a good way, despite warnings from friends and neighbors who also experienced that! The Kani salad I received was heated, the crispy tuna rice was a disarray and barely warm, and I won't even describe the garlic shrimp appetizer. The rolls looked like my morning porridge! All of this came to $80! Overall, it was absolutely awful and inedible! I did reach out to the restaurant and requested a callback, expressing my desire to speak with the management or owner. I am patiently awaiting their response before my further action with the Better Business Bureau.

It's a gem, you wouldn't believe it's hidden in Brooklyn's Sheepshead Bay. This restaurant is highly recommended. So fresh. No need to drive into the city. Waiters are so friendly, courteous, & knowledgeable. Fish are definitely fresh.

All I can say about Masuta is WOW , what a GREAT restaurant. We came here on Wednesday night and really had the best time. The decor and the ambiance was nice. It was my Favorite Date Night. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted kindly and seated by the host. The server Aimee was very kind, helpful explaining and suggesting the meal we wanted. We started off with King Crab Tartar. It blew me away.The decor of the plates was very well thought out. It was so cute. The sushi chef must have a very talented skills to do this :) .The best part is they used REAL King Crab chunks inside ( not the imitation crab ) . Next we have a Triple BEAST. It has Wagyu, Toro,Uni , Caviar and Gold flakes . Just like the name, it is really the BEAST. This wagyu , Toro and Uni make a luxurious combination offering a rich and savory experience. The marbled wagyu Toro melt in your mouth texture complements the creamy and delicate flavor or the uni. Moving on we have Crispy Rice spicy Tuna. The crunchy exterior of the rice really complements the tender spicy tuna. It was very good. Then we had CASINO ( Fried egg plant on the bottom and top with spicy tuna ) . I really like the eggplant. Next is Tiger Eye ( Squid with smoke salmon and scallion inside ) . Moving on we had Dynamite Hand roll ( It wrapped with King Crab , shrimp , and Kani ) and Broadway Roll ( spicy King crab inside with seared sp tuna and top with jalapeno and 4 different caviar ) with 4 pieces of different sushi. We really enjoy all the food. The General Manager ( JIN ) came to us and chat a bit. He was exceptionally Friendly. The service was top notch. If you guys are around Sheepshead Bay area , you should stop by and check out this amazing place. Highly recommended.

What an amazing dinner again. Service is extremely incredible all the time. All the cocktails made by Amy were just so delicious. My favorite of the night was the Lychee Mojito. Jin always comes up with new amazing menus. We try so many new dishes that aren't on the menu. The Dynamite Hand Roll is dynamite. Full of fresh crab. The Casino Appetizer is so delicious with fried eggplant with tuna tartare. The Omakase Box is so sweet and good. Fresh sashimi filled little boxes. We got two special rolls. I really loved the Leon Roll. My favorite Japanese restaurant in Brooklyn.

A neighborhood secret. The restaurant was packed with good turnover this Thursday evening setting a good vibe. Did the Omakase with a few extra dishes. The sashimi platter blew my mind! The black spot red snapper made my mouth water for more and the toro melted in your mouth but shima aji was out of out of control!! Something you would expect in a top Michelin spot. Amy our server was spot on. Didn't even need to look at the menu. Best thing to do is let her bring it on until you can't anymore. She even made our cocktails. Have to say there is a very good reason the locals pack it in. Really unexpected in this part of Brooklyn.

Had the best birthday dinner at Masuta! This is one of my favorite places for amazing sushi. The fish is so fresh and the service is incredible. Jin and Aimee are always so friendly and helpful when choosing what to order. The presentation is incredible for all their food and drinks. Decided to go with my family tonight and we got a bunch of different plates to share so we could try a variety of items. The drinks are strong and delicious so don't forget to order a drink or two. Aimee made us our beautiful drinks. For appetizers, my favorite was the Casino which was crispy fried eggplant topped with spicy tuna and dried tobiko. The combination of everything was insanely good. For our entree, we had the Omakase of the Day which was sooo good with the freshest fish. My favorite fish out of this was the toro and the salmon belly. For dessert, I had to order the Green Tea Crepe cake which was absolute perfection. We had reservations for 6:30pm and were seated promptly. Ambience was relaxing and appropriate for the population. Our waitress (Amy) was very helpful in recommendations and serving us, the owner (Jin) came over to chat and was also very personable. Drinks were strong and made perfectly, food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Amy made sure we were happy and all the other servers came around frequently to refill our beverages, everything went seamlessly despite the busy night. My only recommendation is to call several days in advance to remind them if you have any requests, we wanted lobster but they did not have any ordered for us. I was also looking for some warmly torched "melt in your mouth" toro or wagyu and yuzu flavor palette fish but I did not get any this time. My group of 5 friends had a lovely time and will definitely return for lobster sashimi and other delicious pieces.

The fish is so fresh and yummy the service is amazing the people that work there are so nice and the place is gorgeous. I would definitely recommend this place to sushi lovers.

TLDR: avoid this place at all costs if you want a quality, true omakase. If you're coming here for the $99 omakase, do yourself a favor and skip. They told us when we made reservations that we would receive 20 pc for $99. When we arrived, we were initially told that there was NO omakase available even when we requested for it in our reservation. The waiter realized after that we specifically reserved it and allowed us to order. FOR THE FOOD, AWFUL. There was NO rice on any pieces, the fishes were sticking to the lime, lemon, and leaves they were placed on, and the toppings did nothing to enhance the flavor of the fish. Some of the fish were chewy and left a fishy taste in our mouth. To top it off, instead of giving us 20 pieces, we were given 18 pieces, and as you can see by the photos, we received essentially the same plate twice. Avoid at all costs and save yourself the money.

If you're a sushi lover, you need to go to here! Their fish is SO FRESH and they have the most creative dishes. Here's what we ordered: ~Roast duck salad- mesclun, mango, daikon, cucumber, cherry tomato, roasted duck, chefs spicy sweet dressing. This salad was absolutely phenomenal. I loved the sauce and all of the different textures (including the edible rice bowl!) ~Aji- Japanese horse mackerel. Still not over how stunning this plating was. ~Sesame tuna-asparagus, nori, two chefs special sauces. The flavor was wonderful and I loved the asparagus with it! ~Sakini uni, sushi rice, Scottish salmon, ikura, fresh wasabi. Look how thick the pieces of fish are! ~Fried mackerel bone. Don't knock it til ya try it! It was so yum. ~Beef short ribs- house Korean marinated short ribs a la plancha, mesclun; They were so full of flavor and I'm obsessed with the sauce! A must order! ~Omakase- you can only get this on Thursdays as that is when they receive their fresh shipment of fish from Japan. This premium fish was in the small tasting for $50 and came with uni, baby yellowtail, king salmon, Japanese red snapper, and kinmedai. Some of the highest quality sushi we have ever tasted! ~Ilya roll- in: White tuna, yellowtail, jalapeño outside: avocado, salmon, special sauce and ikura. This special roll is a favorite for many! All my sushi lovers need to head here for this melt in your mouth fish!!

Absolutely love this restaurant. The sushi and sashimi is amazing. Make sure to try their drinks and their special rolls. The drinks really do not skimp out on the alcohol. The omakase definitely does not disappoint. The fish is fresh every week because of the shipments they get. They also have a variety of different desserts. Personally, I really love the fried ice cream and the green tea crepe cake. My waiter was Aimie she's very cheerful and nice. If you ever need recommendations feel free to ask her! The restaurant gets pretty packed during dinner time so make sure to go early to get a seat. The interior is pretty cool with many different lights :)

I am so pleased with the service I received from masuta! They went above and beyond in many occasions to help me cater my events, dine-in or delivery! I am absolutely impressed with the quality of the sushi I received each time! And always receive exactly what I hope for without any delay! I have celebrated various occasions with Masuta and the customer service here is excellent. They are very accommodating and responsive to any questions I have! This is my weekly ritual. Always fresh, delicious and fast delivery. The best sushi for take-out and dine-in in the Sheepshead Bay area.

The restaurant is very cozy, great interior design, and clean. We came on Monday and to our surprise they were super busy. That's why the service was very slow. We waited almost an hour for our orders. That was definitely disappointing, especially seeing people who came in later getting their orders before us. But other then that , everything was great. The rolls were fresh and tasty, although Kani salad was not that great, and filet mignon was just ok. The workers are very polite

Friendly staff that are ready to introduce and explain their menu. It is a Japanese fusion restaurant where they create different combinations of ingredients. But they still have the typical rolls and sushi. The uni oyster is definitely delicious.

Reserved a table over the phone. Came in to find out that the owner gave the table to his friends. On top of that we got disrespected by the owner and his attitude, along with the words "I don't care about over the phone table reservations". Never coming back. The place was much better under different ownership.

I came here and I've noticed one thing right off the bat. That this place is a dump, not the atmosphere but the workers and the food also. When I first came here the gave our table off to others. Please learn how to cook and not sellout your company

Sushi is not fresh some days of the week when ordering out. Had to throw sushi away 2x, once on a Wednesday once on a Friday, different months. Sushi is bitter and pretty awful, yet other days it's fresh and good. It's not consistent

Good, big sushi spot. It gets busy. The fish is fresh and service is good. Prices are normal. I had the sushi and sashimi combo for two and it was huge. I also tried the seaweed salad which was very good.

In fact, the pursuit of Japanese food is freshness, as long as the ingredients are fresh, the taste will not be bad. Oyster + sea urchin is what I recommend. The fresh and sweet ingredients make me like the taste here.

Buyer beware! This is no longer Mitoushi. They are now called Masuka, no matter what the sign outside says. They apparently do not have their liquor license yet, they don't have a working credit card machine and the food is NOTHING like how it used to be. I'm beyond sad because I did like this place a lot. Won't be returning.

It was an absolute honor to come and eat inside this restaurant. The service was really great, and the ambiance of this establishment is also very fancy. We got the Nabeyaki Udon, Tri-color Sushi, and the Sea Bass Appetizer. Every single thing I've eaten here was absolutely heavenly. The sea bass was perfect, it was so tender and the sauce complements the fish extremely well. The sushi was also extremely fresh and it was wonderful to eat. Will definitely come back again.

4 stars if it weren't for Kevin the RUDEST waiter I have ever had the misfortune to be served by. I have been going here since this restaurant opened, back when it was Mitoushi. I typically dine in once/wk. The food is good but the happy hour is nice. Kosan, across the street and down the block is FAR BETTER. If they had a happy hour I would never return here. Came w a gf yesterday. When our order arrived she remarked that it wasn't what she ordered. He YELLED at her! I was shocked. He took the plate away and did return with what she wanted. When she commented politely (after having apologized several times earlier) he continued to argue. Does this food come out of his pay? P.s., a good waiter would have clarified. I won't get into the particulars of the order, but it was pretty simple. I spoke to Amy, a sweet waitress and apparently part of mgmt. She initially refused to give me his name. When I insisted, she gave it to me (so I'm not sure if it's his actual name. He is the skinny little guy with glasses) and pleaded with me not to leave a review as it 'affects them' and the new place which opened next door is doing better. Incidentally, about a month ago there were 2 children climbing all over the booths and roaming around the restaurant freely for about 20 min. When this waiter was asked (not by me) whether anything was going to be done as it's disturbing to diners, he said 'I can't say anything' and walked away looking annoyed. Edward, my fav waiter ever, and the happy hr save this place from a lower review. I will just have to wait to celebrate when glasses is no longer there.

Today I came here to eat the first time, normally I don't write review, but the services on the top, we walked in without reservation and the floor was full, the host invited us to the bar and the manager gave me and my wife beer on the house while waiting. Wasn't long and we have been seated. The foods came fast and quality is there. Can't say it is the best restaurant in the world, but it is surely one of the best in the neighborhood.

Delicious food, excellent service and super friendly new owner. The Salmon is soooo good and the portion is very generous. Be sure to try the wasabi chips- they're to die for! Don't forget their delicious desert!! Best of luck!!

I'm regular here. I'm pretty satisfied with overall atmosphere, ambiance, food and service. Usually I'm coming here with my husband on a busy hours and wait time could be somewhat long. Food is fresh and tasty and presentation is nice. Prices are average. So it's worth waiting. Will be coming back and recommend this place to Japanese food lovers.

Delicious fresh sushi in a beautiful setting. The rolls we ordered were well made and so fresh. Drinks were excellent too. Service was very fast and attentive. Street parking is only one hour metered but there are two metered municipal lots close by.

If you've been frequenting other sushi restaurants on Sheepshead Bay Road and haven't been to Mitoushi yet, then you've really been missing out! For the longest time, my wife and I avoided going to Mitoushi because it just seemed too glitzty to be a good sushi restaurant in the neighborhood. We kept thinking just because it was crowded, it didn't mean the locals knew what good sushi was. Plus, there were plenty of similarly priced sushi restaurants around that we were more than content with. So we FINALLY ... FINALLY gave Mitoushi a try last Friday evening and were in for a very eye-opening and pleasant surprise. We arrived at about 8pm and the restaurant was bustling. There were a few parties waiting ahead of us, but we were seated within 10 minutes of putting our name down. The restaurant had a really good energy, but everyone was dressed very casually. From the outset, we got a sense that all of the employees were really professional. For such a local establishment, we felt like we were at a restaurant that was definitely a notch above the rest. Decor-wise, everything was clean and well done. The menu was very big and there were lots of appetizers, special sushi rolls and sushi to choose from. Since it was our first time here, we wanted to go "all out" and just order instead of worrying about pricing, so we ordered a bit more than normal. First, we ordered a Dynamite and Tiger Eye as our appetizers. For our entree, we ordered the Love Boat for Two and added a Putin Roll on top. The Dynamite had a variety of crab meat, scallops and mushrooms inside with a layer of cheese over it. It's a very common appetizer at local Japanese restaurants and although it wasn't the best we had, it was stil really good. As for the Tiger Eye (smoked squid), it was also good. It wasn't anything to write home about, but we loved the presentation and freshness of the squid. Unfortunately, the Tiger Eye was a very small order, so don't expect anything eye-popping. Now, the entrees. If you plan on ordering a lot of sushi between 2-3 people, we highly recommend going with the Love Boat for Two. Monetarily, it just makes so much sense where you're getting major bang for your buck with all of the sashimi, sushi and sushi rolls included. The boat comes with 12 pieces of sushi, 18 pieces of sashimi, 1 Dragon roll and 1 California roll! We calculated that if each item from the boat was ordered a la carte, it would have come close to $64, compared to the $40 price tag of the boat! Besides the fact that the boat was worth it monetarily, the fish was extremely fresh. Once again, presentation was key as everything was nicely and neatly placed onto the plate. The sashimi was cut into huge slabs of squared fish and was so delicious. There were 6 types of fish used for the sashimi, so 3 of each was included. As for the sushi, there were also 6 types of sushi, with 2 of each. At the end, we strongly felt the boat was the right choice, by far! Overall, our experience here was beyond our expectations and we truly regretted not coming here a lot earlier. The waiters and waitresses were on point and on time and, more importantly, the food was amazingly delicious. Another plus is that they have a liquor license, so feel free to get your drank on as well. Best sushi restaurant in Sheepshead Bay? I think so.

Omakase was terrible. It is not worth the wait and serves too many of the same fish. Price was extremely confusing when reserving for the restaurant.

Super shady business. One day they charge 3.5% for credit card transactions next day they give 10% discount for cash. Then you come two weeks later they say no more cash discount. Nowhere on their menu does it say they charge more for credit card until you get your bill. For some guests they give a cash discount for others they say no. Dined in here with friends last week they frequent this restaurant often, they got a 10% discount. I came to pickup a 200 order they say they don't give cash discounts. I guess if you spend enough and know the owner, you get a discount. They do not treat everyone equal, do not believe the nonsense

I love to eat in this place. Beautiful presentation of meal, tasty food and nice atmosphere. Friendly personal. Good service. Definitely recommend it.
