We won the match by discovering Match Point! My family took my Pop out here for Veterans Day. Overall, I was impressed by the drinks, food, and ambiance and would return.
We came an hour before closing on a holiday, so the establishment wasn't busy. The brewery is spacious, with a plethora of seating (bar, tables, high chairs). There's fun tennis and sports-like decor plastered, perfect for the namesake. They also offer special nights, such as mahjong on Mondays, and are dog-friendly. The owner was friendly to chat with, happy to answer our questions, and checked in on us, which was appreciated.
You order drinks at the bar. They primarily focus on lighter beers but also have cider, wines, etc. I don't drink beer, but as an Asian American, I still appreciate the influence of AAPI drinks (matcha, jasmine tea, Vietnamese coffee, mandarin orange). Creative yet familiar drinks are always something Albany needs! For food, they collaborate with neighbors at 310 Eatery. Since my family chose to eat and drink, the servers from 310 came over to us to take our order and bring our food out. We feasted on Shishito Peppers, Pier Fries, San Gabriel Belly Wrap, and Your Not So Ordinary Beef Noodle Soup. Everything was exceptional and paired well with the drinks--you can't go wrong with Asian food. If you have an appetite, I recommend ordering food with your drink.
I enjoyed my experience at Match Point Brewery and the scrumptious food at 310 Eatery. I already know I'll be back to bring my dog and dine properly at 310. I highly recommend this quaint neighborhood gem to Albany and Berkeley locals alike. Since they're on San Pablo Ave., parking is limited to the street and neighborhood.
