I recently visited Matcha Cita and had an amazing experience! We tried their viral cracking cups in matcha and purple haze, and they did not disappoint. The flavors were delightful and the presentation was truly unique. We also indulged in their ube waffles, which were both delicious and beautifully made. Every bite was a treat! The atmosphere of the shop is fantastic; it’s such a vibe and definitely my happy place. The decor is absolutely gorgeous, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a tasty treat. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their offerings!

This place has the potential to be a good study or work spot, but the music is blasted so loud that it’s impossible to focus. The drinks were disappointing as well matcha is supposed to be their specialty, but it tasted awful. They recommend it with almond milk, but it just ended up tasting like a cup of sugar. Definitely won’t be coming back.

Google
Amazing cute and pretty atmosphere! They have very quick service. I got the Purple haze. It was sweet but not too much with ube flavor! It also tastes like milky so if you want something refreshing then go with lemonade! I like it but it seems not outstanding.

Google
Super cute cafe. Decor is off the charts and the music is really chill. Perfect for photos with friends ❤️ The barista was really sweet and helped me choose a drink! She was the best and made my day. The rose matcha was fragrant, but I think the environment made the experience better. The lox was also really delicious!!

I ordered macho tea with a rose 16 Omsk not a concentrated rose from a cheap syrup. The staff learns from clients in the process of work. Atmosphere design cheap cafe a bunch of artificial flowers. This is my opinion.

Running a business is not easy but how do you come in on a busy Saturday afternoon and see a long line with just one employee working? The employee was doing everything from making drinks, checking people out and dealing with to go orders. I decided to leave and that it would not be worth the wait after seeing monin processed sugar syrups in tue tea area. Please make your syrups homemade and your customers will know the difference taste and quality wise. Also please staff accordingly especially on a weekend.

Google
Nicole was very amazing and personable!! The food and atmosphere was great too, overall a 10/10 experience at this establishment. No average murky chunky matcha here, it is the real stuff.

Google
Beautiful interior, service was quick, and people were nice… but… though my drink was delish… a Matcha mango, pineapple, lemonade, my daughter’s drink the Iced Rose Matcha Latte tasted like just Oat Milk. I would suggest if you like a quiet place to work with a super cute Instagramable interior… just get a Matcha Lemonade. The flavors seem tasty 😋

Yelp
Leyla was so sweet and helpful! She gave us good recommendations on Matcha and really made our day. She was so patient with us with our pictures, and really added to the Christmas spirit! Thank you for being so cheerful during the holidays!

Crystal Z.

Yelp
Ambiance - fairly low volume, great for hangouts and study sessions Service - love that the cashier recommended options to our drinks (milk and sweetener choice) Food - Matcha drinks were mediocre, ube waffle tasted like fruit loops (no ube taste at all and it was almost $12)

Alisa B.

Yelp
Very cute interior, but the drinks were just okay considering they were about $8 after tax. I got the Matcha Horchata this visit and it was definitely more horchata than matcha - which was not bad, just unexpected! If you want a strong matcha, this might not be the ideal spot. A big highlight is the docor and friendly staff here! They're really quick at making drinks too. A lot of people seem to do work here. Lots of seating.

Yelp
I'm not a matcha girlie, but theirs was really good. It was smooth, unlike some that are chalky and pasty. Cute ambiance and aesthetic inside, very IG photo worthy. loved the space and the staff!!!

Yelp
My friends and I visited this place to satisfy our matcha fix, but we're still not sure if it hit the mark. First, the positives: the shop is beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxed outing. However, the service left much to be desired. Everything took an unusually long time, and while the workers were friendly, the delay made us wonder if they were understaffed. As for the drinks, they were a bit of a letdown. I ordered the pistachio matcha latte, which had a nice pistachio flavor, but it tasted watered down and lacked both matcha and pistachio intensity. The strawberry latte, oddly enough, was even less sweet. It needed more strawberry flavor and matcha concentrate to be enjoyable. The food was another point of contention. It took over 30 minutes for our avocado toast and croissant to arrive. The bruschetta avocado toast had a generous amount of avocado but lacked flavor, and the toast could have been more toasted. The croissants were slightly raw in the middle, which didn't bother me much, but it might not be to everyone's taste. In summary, while the shop is cute and has potential, I think I'll explore other matcha shops before considering a return visit.

Yelp
This is such a cute café! They put so much thought into the decor with designing this cafe, and all the drinks on the menu. I tried a Frankenstein matcha with oat milk and it was SO DELICIOUS! It was a matcha with an ube cold foam - so good! I was in love with the vibe of just being there. The baristas were so friendly and so helpful with the menu; the service was incredible. There was one woman in particular who was so amazing and I regret that I didn't get her name. If I lived closer, this would absolutely be one of my regular spots. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Calling all matcha lovers! Cute little matcha shop inside a boutique fitness studio. Small to medium menu with some popular seasonal drinks to select from. Food menu probably included 3-4 items at most but I wasn't about to pay for an overpriced avocado toast, I just wanted matcha. Service was ok, the matcha shop was really clean, restroom was really clean, and prices were just fine. I love to make matcha at home but traveling limits that for me so I'm happy I found a cute and tasty little matcha shop.

Yukie X.

Yelp
The oat milk in my matcha added a nice sweetness & slight thickness to the grassy matcha. As someone who does prefer their drinks on a slightly sweeter side I thought this drink was perfect, and even better when the matcha is mixed in with the milk. The matcha was whisked in which made my drink smoother.

Cat T.

Yelp
My friend and I were craving matcha and walked into this cute little cafe. The decor is SO cute - everything is pink and perfect for photos. I love the amount of effort they put into this little space. The girl at the register was so sweet and helped me figure out what I should drink. She put a lot of time and effort into our drinks, making sure to whisk the matcha to perfect. I got the matcha horchata along with a beef and cheddar empanada. The beef and cheddar empanada was crispy and had a great flavorful, although it was just a tad cold in the middle. The matcha horchata was perfect!!! I'm not even a huge matcha fan, but this put me on. The matcha flavor was light and perfect mixed with the sweet cinnamon flavor of the horchata. It was a little grainy, but still delicious. I came back a second time because it was that good! I got the matcha chai, although I will say it wasn't really my cup of tea. The chai flavor seemed sour and didn't match well with the matcha in my opinion. There were also powdery matcha clumps at the bottom of my drink that weren't whisked in all the way. I would come back for the matcha horchata for sure! So yummy and refreshing.

Michelle N.

Yelp
This place is so cute, aesthetics are over the top, but the drinks were a disappointment. This was a shock and surprise, because we were looking forward to a good matcha latte. The strawberry matcha latte had a little bit more matcha tea taste, but the one with oat milk was just straight up milk. They also only had one server working and so the drinks took a while as we were on a time crunch. Coming from CA, where there's an abundance of matcha drinks/places, this was a let down given how pretty it looks on the inside!

Yelp
Let me preface by saying I came here a year ago and had a fine experience and decent smoothie (3.5/5 stars). Remembered it fondly enough, so figured I'd grab a smoothie after a workout class. Paid $13 for the pitaya smoothie. First time I tried to put my straw in, there was a giant chunk of something frozen to the point the straw completely bent. I asked the woman there if she could possibly blend it more since the frozen bit was taking up 50% of the cup. She seemed annoyed and said that she had only left small frozen chunks in it, but took it back and blended it more. I thought there were still some chunks in it but didn't want to bug her more, but was surprised when I drank my smoothie and half the cup was full of ice cubes. Now, I'd understand if this was like a cheap smoothie--but this is part of what this place specializes in! At least McDonald's and Panera blend their smoothies. Using ice for bulk and not even blending it reflects poorly on this business. And after seeing her prepare matcha for another group that came in...let's just say maybe Sawada up the street is a better bet (& will save you from paying $6 for a cup of scalded milk and barely any matcha). I hate to blast a small business, but this place really went downhill past. The decor is cute, but if you're going to charge that much for drinks, they should at least be able to beat Panera.

Yelp
My wife and I have wanted to try this place for a while since we pass it often driving west on Lake St. It's small, quaint and the drinks are delicious. I'd recommend for you to pop in and grab a tea to refresh yourself!! They are also available hot for the colder winter months! Bonus -- cotton candy was available for the kids.

Anastasia L.

Yelp
Drinks: my raspberry matcha latte was delicious! Everyone else loved their drinks. None of us tried any food items so I can only speak on the drinks Ambiance: Came here for a mid day pick me up at 4pm on a Saturday with a group of 7. Our drinks came out so quickly and there was plenty of empty seating. Loved all the decor Service: Matcha Cita is cafe style so you order at the register. The cashier was very kind TLDR: cute cafe, yummy matcha, nice employees

Reginice C.

Yelp
This spot seems more-so for "the gram" photos. Cute interior and drinks. That's it. I had the "Purple Haze"; matcha, ube, lavender, and oat milk. Completely watered down. Tasted like I was drinking milky water. I wasn't getting matcha or ube flavors coming through. There was a faint taste of lavender. Waste of my $10.

Kirby R.

Yelp
Traveled over 40m for the store to be closed. Maybe I can try to next time I'm visiting and the correct hours are posted.

Yelp
If you're obsessed with matcha like I am, you've come to the right place. This cafe is the cutest ever! The decor, vibes, and menu items are to die for. They serve matcha everything - lattes, lemonades, dessert, etc. My friend got a matcha horchata and it tasted like cake! More on the thicker side but it was so soo good. For myself, I got their pineapple matcha lemonade which was so refreshing. I would love to come back and try other menu items!

Erika P.

Yelp
Super cute place to hang out with friends and very instagrammable! They have a huge selection or different matcha drinks as well as some snacks and bites. The plates and glassware they have are the cutest. I would totally come back but I found the ham and cheese croissant was tiny, just okay, and overpriced for the size. The mac and cheese empanada could've been a bit warmer but the bacon egg and cheese empanada was great!

Yelp
This place has gone down since I originally started going here. Today, was my last day after my order. I ordered the Playa bowl, never had before but one of the only two options since everything else was out. When you order bowls you get 4 toppings for free. I asked for double bananas and chia as an option. I received my nearly $20 order in a plastic container. Let me add that I opted for the dine in option. Looking at the order, in which the server could barely look at me. I noticed the blob of frozen color ice topped with a few bananas and a drizzle of peanut butter and a splash of chia seeds. I asked for a top to the container and left as I knew it would take forever for the order to unthaw. I asked the person why didn't I receive the double bananas, he said the whole banana is the double. . So, the order came in a plastic container , drizzled with a few toppings to save costs? Mind you, I've been here before. The bowls are served in a bowl and toppings are spread throughout. With the server packing everything in a small container, they saved on their end. Mind you I didn't ask for the full toppings. Horrible!! I made a target run and finally made it home and the bowl was still a huge BLOB with a few toppings. I purchased one full banana from target to add to my order to make it worth eating. The bowl btw was not good! The prices are West Loop for sure , but the scaling back on ingredients is downright trashy.

Yelp
This cute little place deserves more traffic, don't go to the Dunkin next door, hit up this place. The vibe is so cute and soft, nice place for pictures if you're into that. There's even a little phone on the wall where you can leave a recording, how cool! The service was great the woman serving me was very kind, and I got my coffee very quickly! She even made sure that I liked what I got before I walked away and that's always super considerate. If you don't like matcha, that's fine!! They have other options I got the ice cream macchiato, and it was made perfectly.

Melissa S.

Yelp
This place has a great ambiance. It's very clearly an Instagrammable (or perhaps, Yelpable) spot with gorgeous flowers and some trendy neon signs with matcha-related sayings. It's definitely a tourist attraction of sorts. I started off with a matcha waffle, which I generally really enjoyed. It wasn't overly sweet and made into ball-like sections (see photo), which was pretty unique but added a little but of nice chewy texture. Then it was topped with fresh fruit. It was surprisingly very filling, but I managed to finish it! However, I tried their Bluetiful matcha with blueberry and spirulina on my way out and... it gave me a massive stomachache. Not sure what it was as I've had blueberry and spirulina-containing drinks plenty of times, but it wasn't sitting well with me and I had to throw it out, which was disappointing (especially since it's pricey). I was only visiting for a short time, but I would definitely give it another chance (but certainly order a different drink).

Megan H.

Yelp
What a TREAT!!! Not only is this spot the CUTEST, but the drinks are the YUMMIEST & the people (Tony) are the most incredible humans!!!

Natalie F.

Yelp
The food here was pretty good! My friend got a beef & cheese empanada and Nutella toast, it was very fresh! The wait time was pretty long and that is considering the fact that there wasn't a lot of people there. I really enjoyed the presence and vibe in the place. I would definitely come again

Eli D.

Yelp
No offense literally a mid coffee spot connected to a gym that has no matcha desserts. Very confusing and using buzzwords to attract people.

Maya M.

Yelp
Really cute place and the matcha was good!! The cashier was super sweet and overall recommend!

Terry S.

Yelp
Super cute place with wide variety of matcha and espresso drinks - unique combos and flavors. Matcha is whisked for you in a little bowl! The decor cannot be beat for a boutique matcha spot. Drinks are custom so take a little more time than your typical grab and go, like the Dunkin next door, but high quality always takes more care and time. That said, my drink was promptly made and easy for a quick stop. You can also order ahead!

Kenneth T.

Yelp
We stopped in here and got 2 different iced teas which were good. The service was pretty quick and location was nice

Rosie V.

Yelp
Lovely and happy decor and atmosphere. Staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. Enough tables where you could even pop in and work from there during the week! The food was fresh and avo toast featured a ton of avocado! It is a little pricey overall so maybe not a daily stop but a cute place to come to periodically.

Jasmine C.

Yelp
I only knocked off one star for the price. The drink itself is very good. Comparable of the popular matcha location chachamatcha ( both the taste and the vibe) that I visit every time I go !!! It was $9 for a lavander lemonade which I think they upcharged me $1 for getting the alternative?? Really new clean and pretty inside!! I'm glad they moved to west loop instead of being in their previous location in lake view!

Sameera K.

Yelp
The fun menu and high reviews lured me in, but Matcha Cita is definitely more about the photo op than the drinks. I intended to order a Matcha Chai but they were out of Chai, so I pivoted to a Golden Matcha instead. The drink comes layered, so the ginger/turmeric mixture was at the bottom, then a layer of almond milk, and finally topped with the matcha. This looks great on camera, but practically, the cup is too narrow to easily stir the drink and mix the components to taste the drink. Once I got it all combined, the drink was just overwhelmingly sweet. There was no hint of ginger or matcha taste at all. Even as someone with a sweet tooth, this just tasted artificially sweet and not satisfying at all. The interior is definitely cute & trendy, and full of neon signs, millennial pink, and cute touches, but if you're looking for a good drink, I'd go elsewhere.

Sydney H.

Yelp
This was such a cute little place! Defiantly kind of touristy and seems expensive at first glance. Although I think the specialty drinks you can't find anywhere else and the very cute interior made the $10 drink worth it - you are partly paying for the experience too. I got the "bluetiful". It was matcha with almond milk, blueberry flavor of some sort and blue spirulina. It was so good! Kind of tasted like a blueberry muffin. Definitely more on the sweet side. Not something I would want to drink everyday, but it was a perfect Saturday morning treat. They had sooo many other unique matcha creations, it was hard to pick just one to try. I didn't get a chance to try any of their food, but it all sounded yummy. Very exited to go back here & bring friends with me next time!

Reyna R.

Yelp
Their matcha horchata is my go-to! It is so delicious and such a great treat for those who can't have dairy like me. We have never gone wrong with any of their matcha iced teas either. The location is so cute - so much gold and pink. A wonderful study spot.

Kimy P.

Yelp
This weekend, I decided to try out the Matchacita cafe as I am a huge matcha lover. The decor and ambiance is beautiful, the way they prepare your drink in front of you is pretty cool too and it is just too darn adorable in there. I got the Bluetiful, my mom got the pink, aunt got the purple one. All were really good, the drinks were very smooth and I loved mine iced. Since it's a fusion drink the matcha wasn't completely as strong as I would expect it to be. But for it was, it was definitely delicious. I will have to come back and just try their matcha latte to see how it is.

Tyga M.

Yelp
Huge matcha fan, was very happy to see that such a place focused on matcha existed. Unfortunately, my drink, the Purple Haze, tasted like a liquid version of Fruit Loops cereal, and had zero matcha flavor. Nonetheless, the cafe is absolutely gorgeous and had a very chill, modern vibe. The one worker was very efficient, even with being busy. I'd visit again, and hope that my next drink actually has a matcha flavor to it.

Roxy H.

Yelp
I lovessssss coffee! But I also love matcha. Matcha Cita is really a cute shop! I've come for drinks several times. It's extremely beautiful on the inside for many photo ops and backdrops! There are tables to hang out and sip your matcha. Thinking about working from home in here one day soon. I'm into adaptogens. Matcha is an adaptogen but so is blue spirulina which is my favorite! I was sooooo happily surprised to see that Matcha Cita carries a drink called bluetiful which contains both! So good. It's my go to! I think I will try Earl grey tea the next time I visit. The bruschetta avocado toast is divine!! A must try! I will continue to visit this cafe whenever I can. Definitely recommend you try and also that you get into adaptogens if you aren't!

Christina H.

Yelp
Go for the photos, skip the matcha and save yourself $10. I'm a sucker for aesthetic coffee shops and restaurants so when tik tok pushed this on my fyp multiple times, I knew I had to try them. The price tag for the matcha drinks and food got me suspicious but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and boy was I let down. The matcha tasted less of matcha and more like straight up strawberry. For a hefty price tag of $10, I expected the best of the best. The size felt like a 20-24 oz so honestly far too big for a drink. Pretty disappointed but I know they'd continue to do well purely from aesthetics.

Dominic A.

Yelp
For a place that is clearly trying to be hip and photo worthy with their bright colored drinks, I was impressed that they actually whisked the matcha instead of just using a flavored syrup. We stopped in here because a friend wanted something cold during the recent heat spell and I have to admit I was skeptical since many similar places try to hide mediocre drinks behind a fashionable and instagramable interior but the drinks were clearly not just syrup milkshakes. I would come here again.

Gloria U.

Yelp
I only went 4 times in 2 days and brought everything I knew! Best matcha in the country! I've tried them all! I was even shocked how much I loved it! They have so many different types that made it cool! I stuck to the classic, and that was great! I also tried the purple haze and the charcoal and both were YUMMY!!! They do only have 1 size and it is pretty pricey! I've never paid $10 for matcha in my life but this place would be my only exception! I do wish they had a medium size. Only reason for 4 stars. The place is decorated so beautifully! It felt like an Instagrammers dream come true!

Samantha C.

Yelp
Stopped by after a long afternoon walking around the lakefront. I ordered the refreshing pineapple mango lemonade to-go. They had a nice patio area. The staff was nice, but the place seemed very disorganized. The 3 women working behind the counter kept getting confused at which customers had ordered, and which hadn't yet. Wrong orders/ drinks were given to the wrong customers several times in the span of 20 minutes. Other than the disorganization, I enjoyed my drink!

Jenny S.

Yelp
This shop is so cute to visit, but the majority of our order was underwhelming or inedible. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte with oat milk, however I don't think they used oat milk because the drink had a weird sweetness. We also got an order of 4 macarons to try, they were so dry and flavorless. We tried the pitaya smoothie, but it mostly tasted like peanut butter. The "Espress Yourself" smoothie was decent, it was basically a coffee smoothie. I was so disappointed that the flavors didn't match the aesthetic!

Vivian Q.

Yelp
This is definitely one of those cute, made-for-Instagram spots with the emphasis on the decor rather than the drinks/food, very similar to Cha Cha Matcha in NY/LA. Plenty of creative (and expensive) drinks that featured matcha - I ordered the Matcha Cita latte which was good but the dominant flavor was the almond milk they use rather than the matcha. Overall, not really somewhere I would frequent but fun for a one-time visit.

Khadijah H.

Yelp
I visited this establishment on 6/20/22 just because I saw a tik tok and I am an major matcha fan. I'm happy I went when the establishment was super empty because I didn't feel rushed, I could take all the photos and videos I wanted and I was able to sit wherever I wanted without feeling crowded. I was greeted by the server and I instantly stated all the recommendation questions. The menu is large and can be overwhelming because there are a ton of varieties for each section. I wanted the best of what I was feeling at that moment and the sever was sure to assist me. So I purchase one birthday cookies, the 4-pack variety assortment of the Macaroons and the purple haze which does have CBD in it. In total, I instantly spent $27.00 - pricey right? I know. At this point, I had to assess whether the price was for the location, the hype or the quality of what I was going to receive. I rate this place 4/5 stars because the quality of the match and the low dosage of cbd did not match what it should've. I don't blame the server as I'm sure she was following protocol. However the owner should potentially look into purchasing large quantities of pure raw matcha for customers. I would say this is cute for Instagram photos and newbies to the matcha world. If you're serious about your matcha, I say visit or return at your own risk. I will return to try the toasts options and maybe one or the bubble waffles.

Vivian H.

Yelp
Every single detail in this cafe has been attended to, the drinks are so innovative and delicious, and the desserts are INSANE. My favorites are the golden matcha and the birthday cake cookies. The cookies are addicting. I ask for my golden matcha with no honey and add oat milk!

Dina D.

Yelp
Tried the dirty chai iced tea and it was good but this place is all about the ambiance of it. SO CUTE AND PINK! Very girly and Barbie-ish!!!! The service was good.

Honey T.

Yelp
Pros: fast service, friendly baristas, upbeat, stylish and aesthetic vibes and atmosphere, and a great place to study! Cons: Hmm as a matcha enthusiast myself and former barista who has worked with matcha in multiple Chicago cafe locations, you would 100% get better matcha drinks elsewhere for $7.77 and up. However, you're definitely paying for the great atmosphere and pictures if anything. We ordered the matcha peach lemonade (as is, no adjustment to sugar or ice), and it was not as great as I hoped it'd be. It tasted more like sweet peach syrup lemonade with a grainy and watery matcha after taste even after I stirred it multiple times. I ended up just tossing the drink out as it was just too sweet. I agree with the one review saying that they placed more thought into the location than they do their products. There were other interesting drinks they had, but I'm reluctant to come back and try it again after this experience and reading all the reviews. It's a shame they based the cafe off matcha but did not deliver in drinks IMO.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Sorta tough to find parking around West Loop but luckily the order online and pickup service works great here if you are craving matcha. Interior is super IG worth with a cute, pink interior. Since it's fall we decided to go for the seasonal Fall drinks, apple matcha chai and an iced pumpkin spice matcha latte. Both were delicious and I appreciate an iced drink that isn't more than 50% ice!!! There are plenty of drink and food options. Definitely am tempted to try their sweet treats next time I'm back.

Mira T.

Yelp
We got the Spill the Tea special with hibiscus rose tea, it was super cute and fun to share - Alexia and Stephanie were our servers and they were great!

Eda X.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this cafe. The interior decor and ambiance is so feminine, fun, and elaborate. I tried their Golden Matcha with turmeric overtones with coconut milk. Delicious, but a little thin. Maybe I'd order whole milk next time.

Yesenia S.

Yelp
It's so exciting that Chicago has an all matcha spot. The space is small so it gets crowded quickly. But, the inside is so pretty and has a couple areas that are nice for pictures. They have teas, lattes, coffee, açaí bowls, avocado toast, and other food items. I got the classic iced matcha with oat milk and it was delicious! They now have matcha soft serve and it's vegan dairy free. I will definitely be trying that next time I go. Matchacita is a great spot in Lincoln Park.

Trisha A.

Yelp
I'm a huge matcha fan so I was excited to try this spot! Ambiance: Super cute spot with an IG-worthy neon light, fun florals, and pastel colors. It's a small space with limited seating but everyone seems to take their food and drinks to go. Service: The cashier was nice. I pretty much knew what I wanted but did accidentally say the name of the drink wrong. He politely corrected me and knew what I was talking about anyway. Drinks: I ordered the Purple Haze Latte. I really enjoyed it! I tasted all of it- matcha, lavender, and the oat milk. Most of it was lavender but I could understand why. Matcha can be too bitter if there's too much added. I've been making matcha lattes for a few years now and have had that happen before. It also actually tasted like lavender which is hardly the case at other places. The menu has a lot of options. It features specialty matcha drinks as well as other mixed matcha drinks. There's also coffees and teas for non-matcha lovers. Looking at the menu, the toasts are pretty simple and could be made at home. I will definitely be back to try the other matcha drinks or a smoothie bowl! If I'm feeling fancy, I'll try the drink additions. Collagen and glitter are catching my eye!
