Visited this spot for Father’s Day and we made reservations so we were seated immediately. Overall, the experience was okay. Pros- Arrived earlier than our reservation but still got seated early. Restaurant has 2 levels with ample seating both indoors and outdoors. Food and drinks came out on time. Cons - I had shrimp and lobster fettuccine pasta and while I had loads of shrimp on my plate, I did not see any lobster meat in my dish. There were tiny bits that could be labeled as lobster but were too minuscule to determine if in fact I was served real lobster meat. I tasted a piece by itself and it did not taste like Lobster. So they get some major points off of this considering the premium price of the dish. When we arrived, there was another table across from ours that hosted a large group but had not been cleared of food. We assumed the patrons had just left but that table remained uncleared for the duration of our meal and visit. This was a turn off for me as it was in my line of sight and the waiters walked by this table multiple times without clearing it. Overall, I would visit again but most likely not this location.

Matchbox has an open airy feel inside which is perfect if you want to eat with physical separation. Service is hit or miss but the food and drinks are delicious. Most recently I enjoyed salad pizza and dessert. The S’mores dessert looked amazing and was mostly toasted marshmallows. The sugar donuts were delicious 🤤

Brunch menu was a surprise. Love the cinnamon buns served in a cast iron skillet. Well spaced out interiors with lots of areas for a variety of groups. We will definitely go back.

Had a great time! I enjoyed the scallops with corn puree, I wish I remembered our waitors name. We had a huge party and they were able to host us seamlessly. The desserts are also great, definitely try it!

Excellent lunch here at Matchbox in their Rockville location. We sat in the "back room". They have a bar, private room behind the bar, upstairs dining area and the main dining room (besides our location). There is also great outdoor seating, but it was pouring and cold, so that section was not open. Restaurant has very high ceilings which is great to disapate the noise. Today we started with the 3 mini burgers. Covered in onion straw (which is pretty tasty) the burgers were pretty good. I always get them when I come here. The Ms. had the Apple Pear Salad which comes with candied walnuts, and blue cheese. I recommend that you get extra dressing, as this is pretty good. For my main course I get the cheese pizza and my son got the same but with grilled chicken as a topping. Pizza here is pretty good. Much better than delivery service pizza. We never get the pizza stands as many times I have "flipped" the pizza, so we just don't use them anymore! Our server was Jordan. He was excellent and very attentive. As a side note, I watched him clean the tables and booths in the section and I was impressed that he used the light on his iPhone to check the floor of the booths to make sure he got everything. Small things matter. Always a good meal here. Honestly, we don't venture far from the burgers, pizza and apple and pear salad as they are our favorites. But given how good these are, I think the other items would also be outstanding. Enjoy!

I am not sure what experience the people who gave this restaurant a 1-star rating had. I have never had a bad meal at Matchbox!! My photos are from the Washington, DC, location but the Rockville location is also amazing. Yes, you've had wood-fired pizza before. However, Matchbox makes it in such a way that you feel like you are eating it for the first time. Don't just order the pizza, everything on the menu is FANTASTIC!! I mean just check out my pics. I've eaten here for lunch with a friend & even on a date night. Love the vibe of this place. It always reminds me of an upscale NY restaurant, very sexy. The service is fast & wonderful. They have a full bar and enough items on the menu that everyone will find a dish. But not so many that they can't all be achieved beautifully. Highly recommend Matchbox. No matter the location you will have an AMAZING meal!!

Matchbox was fantastic! The food was some of the best I've had in a while... anywhere. Our server was attentive and friendly, and the drinks were perfect. This should definitely be one that you check out as soon as possible. The pizza was my favorite, but the fried risotto was amazing. My son ordered the fried risotto, but we were there close to closing and the server said that they had run out for the night. So he ordered something else, but the server came back a few minutes later and told him that the chef said they were going to cook up a fresh batch of risotto to make the dish for him. I thought that was awesome. And I'm glad they did, it was out of this world. I'd you're in the area, make it a point to eat here.

This was my first time having brunch at a Matchbox location and the food was delishhhh. ✨️ Blood & spice: A classic bloody mary w/ a lil' extra zest. ✨️ Cold brew martini: Delish, refreshing and energizing. ✨️ Steak & eggs: Another classic which was cooked perfectly accompanied by potatoes. ✨️ Chicken & waffles: The chicken was SO good and paired together perfectly. ✨️ Side of cheddar grits: Perfect sharable side who can do no wrong. ✨️ Biscuit & gravy: Super savoury and tasty. Overall, this was the biggest matchbox location I've seen lol. The staff were all super friendly and even turned on the Man U game for us and food/drinks were the perfect brunch. - Insta @ SpicyAivy
