"This Chestnut Hill newcomer has quickly built up a loyal following throughout the Northwest part of the city. Styled after a Parisian café, Matines Cafe features croissant sandwiches and quiche at breakfast while lunch brings a list of sandwiches on croissants and baguettes, including the Haute Dog with a bechamel-doused sausage. Arthur and Amanda de Bruc, the cafe’s husband-and-wife owners, both grew up in Paris." - Sarah Maiellano

The CUTEST Parisian cafe in the area!! I went for lunch and got the salmon tartine and raspberry nectar tea. The tea came in a huge pitcher and the food was also a generous portion. Everything tasted amazing and the service was great! When you walk in, there are cute French gifts and overall, it’s a comforting and cozy atmosphere!

A great little popular place. Pastries looked amazing but my little 3-some ordered lunch and the service as well as the presentation was very nice. My avocado smash didn’t have a lot of taste but the artichoke quiche was respectable. Loved the outdoor seating. Inside was small but cozy.

Cute, busy little cafe on Bethlehem Pike off Germantown Ave. It's counter service and they deliver to your table. Service was very friendly. The breakfast sandwiches are presented well and enjoyable and the espresso drinks were well made. We were there from 9:30 AM on a Sunday morning and there was a line to order the entire time. There were no available tables, but they turn quickly.

Had a great brunch at Matines! The food and drinks were excellent. We also got a few pastries to take home that were good. Every staff member was friendly as well too. Fair warning it's a little tight inside and tables fill up quick, maybe not the best for larger groups. They do have outside seating though. Would definitely come back!

It's a cute place, with a French menu that's unique for the area. I ordered an egg sandwich with brie and smoked salmon on a baguette, side of French onion soup. The menu brags about their scrambled eggs and I was expecting French style, super soft and custardy. Instead they were overcooked and heavily seasoned. The brie was good, it added creamy richness to the dry eggs. And while I think the sandwich really needs a larger portion of smoked salmon, the quality of the fish was very good. Also, the baguette is top notch. So, while I wasn't blown away, I was content. The French onion soup was very underwhelming, not particularly flavorful. Except for the gruyere toast that they top it with, that was great. I kept dunking it in the soup, which was great, but would've been better if the soup flavor was more robust. Also, it should be served hotter, mine was lukewarm in a matter of minutes. Overall, it's a great place, I'd go back and I'm glad that they exist. But I also think they have room for improvement.

Delightful Restaurant! I wish I'd known it was here when I started traveling from Delaware to my doctors. Now I'm stopping in here after each appointment. J'adore la cuisine française ! C'est une expérience délicieuse et de haute qualité.

My first time here and loved it! Super charming, casual and on point. Turkey and brie with caramelized onions on a flaky croissant…magnifique! Even more impressive ….the staff. I’ve interacted with 3 employees while I was there for lunch today (sorry I didn’t get their names), and each one of them was delightful. Try it out. I’m going back with my peeps after hiking at wiss valley park next week!

Really cute place with French style tables and chairs located both inside and outside ( and bonus they have shades). Great breakfast, lunch or afternoon snacks. My personal favorites currently are their avocado tartines and yuzu/lavender lemonade (great taste, not too sweet). Originally we got addicted to their breakfast sandwiches, made with buttery delicious croissants.
