Stopped by for a late lunch and they were not busy at all. Service was good. She was nice and friendly. I noticed they had Korean dishes on the menu too. Which is great but during this visit I wanted Ramen. I ordered the Miso Ramen. I saw photos of the Tonkotsu on social media but decided on the Miso. I love bold, silky, fatty flavors. The miso flavor did lack. It was actually was bland. I added a good amount of togarashi just to have some kind of taste. The chashu was not tender or soft but I still ate it. I liked the cell phone holder which was an added touch.

Google
Absolutely amazing spot! Super clean, incredibly friendly staff, and hands down the BEST donkatsu in Las Vegas — no question about it. Crispy, juicy, and cooked to perfection. And the best part? It's all at a very reasonable cost. If you're a katsu lover, this place is a must-try!

Google
Clean interior, and great service. We wanted to eat a taste, besides our regular home meals. Spur of the moment stop, etc... Meal portions are bigger than I expected, broth and ramen taste are good, prices were in the comfortable range.

We decided to stop by here on a whim and it was a great experience. While we intended to get ramen, the three of us all went with other options upon viewing the extensive menu. Two of us had the curry katsu and the other had the unagi bowl. The katsu dishes were our favorite, with homemade Japanese curry sauce. The unagi bowl was also tasty, especially the fried rice that came with it. The service was friendly and the restaurant is clean and bright. It is a great price point for a hearty meal and I definitely recommend checking it out for affordable comfort food.

Google
We are impressed, the food is delicious, we ordered the fish katsu special of the day for $13 !! Can’t believe how good it was. The attention is incredible, our server was so attentive and friendly that she never stopped asking how the food was, it’s so affordable and excellent food. Recommended in every way.

Google
As a first-time visitor, I was warmly greeted by a smile. The establishment exuded cleanliness and emptiness, as it was quite late for dinner. The menu offerings appeared appetizing, prompting us to order a curry bowl and tonkatsu ramen. While the thinness of the chasu slices in the ramen was slightly disappointing, the pork ribs were exceptionally well-prepared. Surprisingly, the pricing was quite reasonable, placing it on the lower end of the cost spectrum compared to other establishments.

4/12/25 Since it was my niece’s birthday I told her to pick a place. She wanted Japanese Curry & found Matsu on google. Walked in and was greeted right away by EJ. She sat us down and told us about the menu and what she recommend. We got Takoyaki, kimchijeon, soy garlic karaage and Chicken Curry. Grace another server came out to serve the food while EJ was taking orders because it started to get busy. Everything tasted very delicious and serves was so friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend this place if you want something away from spring mountain.

If you're in the mood for a delicious and fulfilling meal, you have to try their mozzarella pork tonkatsu! It was incredibly tasty, with a delightful crunch that paired perfectly with the juicy, tender pork, and the gooey mozzarella added a wonderful melty goodness. The chicken curry sausage was another highlight, bursting with savory flavors and just the right kick of spice. And the ramen was rich, flavorful, and oh-so-comforting. Every dish was definitely worth the price.

Yelp
Came back because we were disappointed at another katsu spot if you read my other recent review. Matsu Ramen & Katsu does not disappoint, and it always great at a great price point! We had the Chicken Katsu which was always great. Friendly service and nice atmosphere.

Yelp
Tried Matsu Ramen & Katsu for takeout and had a great experience. Service was fast, and since it wasn't busy, the lady was kind enough to bring my order out curbside, super nice and great customer service. I ordered the Katsu Curry, which was a good portion for the price and even came with miso soup. I got all rice, so it filled me up quick, but the katsu itself was crispy with a solid meat to bread ratio. I just wish there was a little more curry, but overall it was delicious. Also I got an ice cream in a pouch for dessert that was really good. The inside also has a nice vibe, casual but stylish, definitely a good date night spot. I'll be coming back to try the ramen next time!

Yelp
Soooo... the food is mid. There are flavors present, but they're not necessarily good. It is more on the salty side in a way that does not match with the vibe well. Not the best ramen spot and not the best katsu spot, would recommend visiting someplace else. The katsu was dry, curry sauce had way too much added salt, (not pictured) char siu fried rice was overseasoned and had hard parts of vegetables. Was unfortunately very disappointed especially bc of the high rating. Service is not the best either. Asked if substitutes were allowed and the servers responded angrily even tho I was chill if substitutes weren't allowed after they realized they gave unnecessary attitude they were a bit nicer, but it was silly to get mad over a simple question tbh Would recommend visiting other spots, definitely better options in town for way better quality and taste!

Yelp
Changing my mind on my previous review. Came here with my partner and we were one of two groups dining in the whole restaurant. First of all, my partners ramen came out a full 10 minutes before my cold zaru soba arrived for me to eat. Secondly, we ordered the garlic chicken karaage which was soft and the consistency of Panda Express orange chicken. When we told the server about how karaage is usually crunchy she said that that's because we are used to Japanese style karaage. I'm honestly unsure of what other styles of karaage exist aside from Japanese especially considering the fact that the word karaage is literally Japanese. Thirdly, there was an excessive amount of garlic in the tonkotsu ramen which honestly baffled me since tonkotsu ramen isn't usually that garlic heavy (must not be "Japanese style" ramen?). The zaru soba I got had rubbery noodles and was served like ramen which confused me since soba is usually dipped into sauce and the sauce is not sipped on, let alone eaten via spoon. The server maybe checked on us twice while honestly looking like she was doomscrolling TikTok. Honestly if your restaurant isn't busy the least you can do is check in on your guests. Overall restaurant seems clean. Will not be coming back when there are many similar quality and priced options on spring mountain.

Yelp
Matsu rhymes with Katsu, which is very fitting because their Katsu is very much on point. The crust is very thin and crispy and easy to bite all the way through. both the pork and chicken were very tender and still juicy inside. The Katsu comes with a Miso soup that has a very rich flavor. Other Miso soups we have tried usually have a bold salty quality to their soup. But this one the flavor is very smooth and rich. The rice has a nice fluffy quality that compliments the crisp of the katsu even though there is that contrast of texture. Our daughter loves the Kake Udon. the flavor is not overpowering and the noodles are cooked thoroughly. EJ is usually the server we get, and she is amazing and anticipating the needs of the customer. Although it is a small shop, which is why it wasn't really busy, it is simple and welcoming. I highly recommend it. The place has other dishes which we have yet to try; but the katsu is amazing.

Yelp
Since they're open couple months ago, I've been looking forward to trying tonkotsu soups at Matsu for a while now, and was so glad that I did! The food was so delicious and the service was really great, too. This restaurant has such a cozy and charming atmosphere! From the moment you walk in, you feel right at families home, because It's small enough and make it an ideal place for a relaxed meal.

Yelp
A real hidden gem. As in, where have you been hiding from me all these years? hahaha I suggested this place to a group of friends and they didn't disappoint. Loved my curry pork katsu. I love Japanese curry anything. The katsu was crispy. My friends were all happy with their entrees and I tried one of their takoyakis and it was good too. We were there for a long time catching up and the restaurant was not busy, small tables, simple environment. Polite, straight-forward service. Good food and good value.

Yelp
Matsu Ramen & Katsu has been on my Yelp Collection lists of restaurants to go to for a few weeks now. Looking for dinner options on a Friday evening, my husband and I decided to go to Matsu Ramen & Katsu. Matsu Ramen & Katsu is located on West Sahara and S Jones Blvd. I think this restaurant space used to be Mom's Teriyaki! There is plenty of parking spaces available. As soon as we walked inside the restaurant, we were immediately seated and provided menus. The menu offers a wide range of Katsu options, Ramen, Rice Bowls, and Korean inspired options too like the Jajang Bowl, Bulgogi Bowl, and the Bulgogi Ramen! Water was provided to our table while we were looking over the menu. I was really craving some Gyoza for an appetizer! When the team member came to our table to place our orders, we ordered the following Appetizer: Gyoza Entrée: Pork Katsu Chicken Katsu There were only a few other customers inside the restaurant when we had arrived around 5:00 P.M. While waiting for our entrée, the Miso soups came out first. The soup was extremely salty. I opted not to eat it after a few bites. Shortly afterwards, the entrees came out to our table within 10 minutes. The service was super quick! The Gyoza came out as the same time as the entrees. It was more like Mandoo though. It had a thicker wrapper with heartier filling and had some glass noodles. If you're craving some Mandoo, Matsu Ramen & Katsu has some good ones! Looking at the Chicken Katsu, it looked amazing! It was a large chicken breast with perfectly fried batter on-top of the chicken. Unfortunately after taking a few bites, I noticed that there were really small bones in a few of my pieces. I initially didn't mind, but when I came across a relatively large bone in my fourth piece, I felt it was important to bring it to the attention of the team member. When I had spoke to the team member, and even showed them the bone, but unfortunately, no action was taken. This restaurant's food is quite inexpensive though on a positive note, and the initial service we had upon entry was good! However, due to the issue with the entrée, I'm not sure if I'll be back anytime soon.

Yelp
Food was great. Service was great. Pork broth was very flavorfully and the noodles cooked perfectly!

Yelp
My wife and I ate here twice in 24 hours! We went for dinner and each had a delicious bowl of Tonkatsu ramen! We then came back for lunch the next day for Chicken Katsu and a Bulgogi bowl. Everything was delicious! Each time we were so hungry, I didn't remember to take pics in time lol. Presentation was delightful! The restaurant is super clean. The complimentary water is crisp and refreshing. And the men's restroom is immaculate! - and they have paper towels! These things aren't a given, so I always appreciate owners, especially in restaurants who get the concept of paper towels instead of air dryers when it comes to being sanitary. Great smiles here, wonderful service, and beautiful decor. Oh and great prices! This is now one of our go-tos and we can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. Thanks Matsu! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Tried this place a few days ago and it didn't disappoint. The customer service was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. I ordered the pork katsu, and it was great. The portion of katsu was big, but the rice that came with it wasn't enough. The katsu sauce wasn't as smooth as I expected, but it still had great flavor. I also got to try the cheese katsu, chicken curry katsu, and takoyaki. They were all good. The miso soup was also delicious. One downside was the table size--it was really small. We were given small plates for the appetizer, but had to remove them because the table felt too cramped. Overall, we had a great experience. I can see myself coming back here again.

Yelp
Food: I ordered the spicy beef ramen, and though the noodles were good, the broth wasn't as beefy as I would have liked. It was definitely spicy (not for the faint of heart!), but it wasn't very flavorful. Also a tad oily. There were also more onions than actual beef in my bowl. Need to add more beef! I loved adding the salted egg to my noodles -- the egg was the highlight of my dish. $1 for a HALF boiled egg though. Service: fine, nothing to complain about. Atmosphere: simple, casual, nothing frills. Plenty of free parking in the lot.

Yelp
My family absolutely love this restaurant! So much so that we had our meals there for 3 consecutive days. Throughout the 3 days, my family had their tonkotsu ramen, bulgogi ramen, Japchae, home made gyoza, pork katsu, Matsu cheese katsu, and curry katsu. The katsu was super good. They were breaded well and very crispy. I highly recommend their katsu. The ramen was delicious too! The Japchae was flavorful, and the home made gyoza was big and filled with fresh ingredients. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The restaurant was small and clean.

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner here with my husband and my baby. Prices are extremely reasonable. The cheddar cheese katsu is the BEST katsu we've tried in Vegas so far. Extremely juicy and fresh and crispy. The house Katsu sauce it's served with compliments it perfectly. The tonkatsu ramen was light, missing a little creaminess that tonkatsu usually has. I used lots of their chili oil for some spice and flavor. Extra noodle portion is very generous! Also we loved the spam musubi appetizer! The service was great, the servers were all interacting with my baby daughter and were so kind. She even brought a little portion of miso soup just for my daughter. The restaurant is very clean and bright. I would absolutely return here in the future!! Love this place, I hope it thrives!!!

Yelp
My daughter and I have been wanting to try Matsu Ramen & Katsu since they opened up. Happy to say, we were not disappointed :) Items tried and liked so far: Curry Bowl with Chicken Sausage - curry is your typical Japanese/Korean style. Chicken sausage is cooked just right, a little crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We've had the curry bowl twice and love it so far. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu :) Service was excellent. The two ladies working the front are very nice. Prices are reasonable. Interior is nice and clean. Parking is plentiful. Highly recommended. I hope you decide to check them out :)

Yelp
I'd actually give this place 4.5 Came here on a Saturday, around 2:30. We must have just missed the rush cause there were a lot of dirty tables that needed to be cleaned. Once our table was cleaned we got service right away. We ordered the pork katsu which was really good! The katsu batter was crunchy and the pork was tender. It tasted like it was just fried. Definitely a great choice! We also got the tonkatsu ramen which was delicious! The broth wasn't too creamy and rich which some can be. The broth was also very flavorful! The portion size was just enough too! My son got the bulgogi ramen. The bulgogi was tasty and not chewy. The broth was a bit on the sweeter side. In the beginning it was good, but it's one of those where you can't have too much of cause it gets to be too much. Overall, this place was great! I'd definitely recommend it and would return if in the area!

Yelp
Came in as a group of 5 yesterday to celebrate a friend's birthday. EJ was our server. She was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed at all times. The food was so very flavorful! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

Yelp
Food: Bland Tonkotsu broth. Had to spice it up. Service: normal Ambience: tight spaces Overall, decent flavors with decent prices. Nothing to brag about and nothing to complain about
google avatar

Lina L.

Yelp
I got the Tonkatsu ramen and takoyaki octopus balls. Overall it was a joyful and yummy experience! I walked out happy and full of energy. The owner is nice. The waitress was friendly and kind. They are very sweet. The flavor is 4.5/5. The Takoyaki is 5 out of 5, I loved it. The serving size was huge that one bowl filled me up quickly that I had to get a to-go box for the Takoyaki. Ambiance is mellow but peaceful. I really liked this restaurant. They also have to-go orders. Highly recommend if you are in a rush and really crave some Asian food or ramen!

Yelp
First time visiting Matsu Ramen & Katsu on the southwest corner of Sahara and Jones. If your traveling north on Jones, you can make a legal u-turn at Sahara. The restaurant has plenty of parking. I ordered the Spicy Beef Ramen for myself and Chicken Katsu for my son. He's a picky eater, but loved the Chicken Katsu. The breading is used by Koreans thus the flake is delicious and soft. Not like those at L&L Hawaiian restaurants. The Spicy Beef Ramen comes with vegetables. Be warned, it is definitely spicy. The red pepper they use is extreme, but I personally liked it. Service was great. The best I've seen in Vegas and I've lived here since 2007. The ambiance is nice...no loud music. They have an extensive menu. The flavors come in mild to Spicy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
What a nice hidden gem, a place that has great service and good food. The serving sizes at this place can't be beat for what you pay. We tried the pork and chicken katsu. You could have rolled us out of the restaurant there was sooo much food. The meat was tender and comes with a scoop of rice and cabbage salad. The dressing is really good and would suggest a side to use for your pork or chicken. They do have a house sauce that pairs nicely with the meat but still a good YELP tip. This dish is a combo so you also get miso soup. I will say the ramen bowls really looked good....thats for the next trip. Two of us ate and were FULL for under $25.
google avatar

Yelp
Have been here a couple times now the food and service have always been delicious and accommodating Haven't had anything bad on the menu Highly recommend the soba Noodles which are cooked perfectly And the shoyu broth is light and refreshing
google avatar

Yelp
The boiled dumpling appetizer was fantastic. For a main dish; I had the Fish Cake Udon for a main course (1st time ever trying) and it was just as good! Highly recommend Matsu!

Yelp
Husband and I were in the mood for some Japanese food and saw that Matsu opened not too long ago. Since they are new, restaurant was not busy. The employee was very nice and gave us the option to sit wherever we wanted. Restaurant is spacious and clean with simple decor. Music is not too loud; they played some ambient nu-disco type music. Parking is right in front of the entrance. We ordered the takoyaki, the king gyoza, the Bulgogi Ramen, and the Curry Bowl. The food took less than 5 minutes to come out. Everything tasted pretty good! Takoyaki--came with 6 pieces and arrived fresh with a ton of bonito flakes. The inside was like mochi and had a good amount of octopus. Give it a 5 out of 5. King Gyoza--crispy, packed full of meat, and savory. Well-seasoned and the sauce paired well. Give it a 5 out of 5. Curry Bowl--came with a bed of rice, non-spicy curry full of diced veggies, and perfectly cooked chicken sausage that was crispy on the outside. Give it a 5 out of 5. Bulgogi Ramen--broth was sweet like bulgogi marinade and had a lot of beef pieces, with the standard ramen vegetable toppers and egg. There was a lot of noodles and they were cooked perfectly. Definitely my favorite dish out of everything and will probably order again next time. Give it a 5 out of 5. I hope this restaurant stays in business a long time as everyone here was very sweet and attentive, and food was pretty tasty!

Yelp
The interior of the restaurant was very clean. The ambiance was casual but not loud. I ordered food to go and was treated like a VIP. I was asked to sit and then brought a carafe of water to have while I wait. I ordered pork katsu, tonkatsu ramen & miso ramen. The katsu was crispy even when I got home. I will definitely come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure why this place isn't busier...food is great and very affordable. The katsu is moist and delicious and the ramen is excellent. The staff is super friendly....my new go to.
google avatar

Cheryl C.

Yelp
if you ever need an affordable meal , this would be the place . They have the side pork ribs for just $2 !! It was delicious but you only can order if you order ramen dish which is kind of odd when it came out on a separate plate anyway. Spicy beef ramen was very tasty with lots of veggies , fish cake udon is something that I would crave for a cold weather day . Katsu is not the best but still crispy . Location : minutes from the heart of the China Town , if you are tired of finding a parking spot there , try here !

Yelp
I was recommended this place by a coworker. I was so excited to try since I love curry katsu and it did not disappoint! The food was so good and fresh! The service was excellent. I think the owner was there helping our server and they were both so friendly! My partner got the ramen and I got the chicken curry katsu! We also tried the house made gyozas! So big and so good! The pricing was also so good! We got to try so many things! I only wish the curry came in different spice levels, I love a spicy curry! But definitely will be back! I've been craving to be back!

Yelp
First off the experience started well, we chose to eat here because it was my son's birthday and he really wanted ramen, so we chose to try a new place and this one looked good to try. We appreciated the new renovations and the new menu for this place and we're excited to eat here and try different options. We sat down and ordered our food which was the chicken katsu curry we chose to get the curry on the side, jjajang ramen, and the chicken miso ramen. Keep in mind if you want to get things on the side you aren't able to they either add inside for you or none at all which why we opted for a plain ramen for my son. Once we received our food this is where our entire experienced shifted. We got the chicken katsu which was great. It was hot and delicious . But when the ramen came... it went down hill for us. There was a heavvvvvy smell of garlic which would be fine if we ordered specifically for a garlic miso ramen like some places offer, but my son doesn't really like that flavor at all from the first bite he told us he didnt like it, so we tried letting our server know and tried to switch it something else so he can eat it, she told us you can order something else but this is on your bill too even if you don't eat it because you ordered it. I let her know I understand but in the menu description there was nothing stated that garlic was inside and would heavily over power the taste of the entire dish. We started going back and forth and decided it was not worth it to argue with someone who didn't want to listen. They should really rename the dish to garlic chicken miso ramen because that the dish it self. My son was stating he was so hungry so he ate some one the katsu and we tried to take the noodles out of the ramen and dab as much of the flavor out and he forced himself to eat it. The server came by and saw what we were doing and said how about I give him a plain miso so he can eat it with the noddles you took out... "I feel bad since it's his birthday" at this point we didn't want anything else and tried to finish up and leave because we didn't want to spend anymore time here. The jjajang was lacking flavor and was nothing to write home to. At the end of this the katsu curry you should try if you do wanna come here. But our experience will have us going somewhere else.
google avatar

Ye E C.

Yelp
Service was super nice, attentive and fast. The food was GREAT with the price. Spicy beef ramen and Matsu cheese katsu was very tasty... also Jjajang was great! I'll definitely be back~

Yelp
Curry bowl - delicious. Matsu cheese katsu - delicious. Servers were very well attentive. Ambiance is good.

Yelp
This place looks to be new to the area. My friend and I were on the hunt for some ramen and decided to come here since it's closer to both of where we live. We both ordered the bulgogi ramen and were warned that it was on the sweet side by the waiters. I personally didn't think it tasted that sweet and it simply tasted like traditional bulgogi. My friend thought it tasted sweet and added some of the condiments that were on the table to spice it up more. The fish sticks had the waving seasonings that I can't think of the name of it but it moves around like those fake flames. The fish sticks were great too fake flames and all. Overall I would recommend this place. The servers constantly checked in on us and they had a very warm, motherly vibe to them. I felt like I was eating at an auntie's house or something!

Yelp
The Best New Ramen and Katsu combinations in the city! Clean, quaint and extremely affordable! There are no other places in town that offer the quality , variety and value that Matsu does. I highly recommend this fantastic restaurant to locals and visitors alike. By far a 5 star affair!
google avatar

Chantalle U.

Yelp
The real question is what isn't good. I've had their tonkatsu ramen, bulgogi ramen (it's got a sweetness to it so be aware), and their pork katsu. Y'all it's THE spot! The gyoza are unlike anything I've ever had, handmade, they actually remind me of empanadas. I'll definitely be back to try more, b they've made a regular or of me!
google avatar

Shannon G.

Yelp
You must try this cozy, quaint eatery with the warmest, friendliest service. First up was an included miso soup, absolutely correctly prepared. My pork katsu arrived quickly, the size of a hubcap, delicately prepared with a gently crisp battered exterior. The cooking oil was showroom new, nothing off-taste or dark. Only the freshest. The house-made dipping sauce is to die for. Accompanying this treasure was a fresh cabbage salad topped with a creamy dressing and steamed rice. All of this for an impossible $9.99! One of the biggest values in town, delicious food and gracious staff make Matsu Katsu a Las Vegas MUST-TRY.
google avatar

Mint L.

Yelp
This place is so good! Not overly salty and overly priced like mostly all the rest of the ramen places here in Vegas. Staff are friendly and the place is clean. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Yall made my day! I got the Japchae which I never had it hot before. In hawaii, usually got to this Korean spot and they had it as a cold side dish. This one was delicious hot as well! Next got their Matsu Cheese Katsu and didn't expect the cheese pull to be epically long. Wish I got it on video instead. I have made Katsu before in my previous jobs and know when the batter is fresh or the bread crumbs are A tier. This was A+ Tier :) Also shout out to the excellent service from both servers.
google avatar

Cris B.

Yelp
Tried this place recently, and it was a cool little hole in the wall! I got the crab ramen, which was good, just not super memorable. But the chicken katsu with Japanese curry? Perfect. Crispy, juicy chicken with that rich, flavorful curry sauce--exactly how it should be. The portions were good, and the service was friendly. Definitely coming back for that katsu!
google avatar

Yelp
Went for dinner and the food and service did not disappoint. Sizable pork Katsu portion for the complete meal. All for $9,99. Pork rib ramen caught my eye. Ribs were meaty and tasty. Ordered their seafood pancake filled with goodies.
google avatar

Joe P.

Yelp
Our first time here and I was disappointed. They cater more to the Korean people. (Not being racist) but it's true. We waited for our food for 40 minutes while everyone was getting their food. They ordered the same thing as we did. It's kinda sad. My wife's order didn't come, we had to walk out. Please take care of ALL customers. We all pay the same.

Yelp
Can't go wrong family owned spot. Price's are responsible my husband had the chicken katsu and it was a big portion for a really good price. I had the vegetables ramen Its was very good. Definitely will be back. And the owner was very friendly she makes you feel like your family Aloha

Yelp
Paid a visit to Matsu, first thing it was not very busy about 7:30 pm on Fourth of July. We were seated immediately, noticed everything was very clean. Not many tables but not too cramped either. We ordered an udon, chicken/pork/fish katsu. The katsu dinners came with miso soup which was great, shredded cabbage salad and rice. All the types of katsu were very good, not dry and fresh. It wasn't over breaded or oily. Our favorite was the fish katsu, so light. The chicken and pork were great too. Overall some of the best katsu we've ever had and my daughter enjoyed her udon. Their pricing is reasonable for the portion size and customer service was great too.

Yelp
This place is Amazing and I had the best time here. The place is decorated very nicely and it's very well lit. The service was very good and the staff was nice. The food was the star of the show . The broth on the Crab Ramen was light and flavorful . The Tonkatsu Ramen was just perfect especially the egg. The Takoyaki was the best I have had outside of Japan. It's a Definite must try .

Yelp
Oh. My. Katsu. This place is EVERYTHING I never knew I needed! Walked into Matsu Katsu on Jones and Sahara, and it immediately gave off those cozy, hidden-gem vibes. Super friendly staff, great prices--so let's talk about the food because WOW. First off, the King Gyoza stole my heart. It's massive and crisp on the outside, with a filling that tastes just like lumpia--juicy, flavorful, and oh-so-satisfying. But then... THE KATSU. I ordered both the pork and chicken katsu because, you know, go big or go home! Both were perfectly fried--so light and crisp, and the meat inside? Juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor in ways that made me want to do a little happy dance with every bite. Seriously, it's katsu magic. And the King Shrimp Tempura--are you kidding me? A whole shrimp with the head still on, fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside, buttery soft inside. It was love at first bite. I'm officially hooked. This place is an absolute must-try, and I already know I'll be back. Matsu Katsu, you have my heart (and my appetite) forever.

Yelp
The service is eh. Just a hello, ready to order, all finished, type of service. The kimchi cakes were ok. Kinda bland really. I'd rather just have regular kimchi. I came for the japache bowl, which they no longer offer, yet they still have japachae offered as an appetizer. So I ordered the bulgogi bowl....rice was strange with raw veggies in it...the meat was really fatty and chewy, had to spit out a few bites into a napkin. Miso soup was bland. I don't believe I'll return, but if I do, I'll try a noodle bowl instead. I just was not impressed at all.

Yelp
Shout out to Danny The Medic on YouTube for recommending this New Mom And Pop Restaurant. Friendly service and the food is high quality for around $10 per dish which is an insanely good deal. Today was my first time dining in but will definitely not be my last. Tonkatsu Ramen- Rich flavorful broth and the egg yolk was still a bit runny which I am a big fan of. The pork was flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. For $9.99 they're going to see me here every week lol . Pork Tonkatsu- Comes with soup which is sweet and savory. The Pork Tonkatsu is crispy and juicy. Pairs well with the house dipping sauce. Comes with cabbage salad and steamed rice.

Yelp
Decided to try this restaurant based on location and the yelp reviews. We walked in and the staff were so inviting and attentive. We got seated right away and it was around 8pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was a decent size and it was clean. Now about the the food - we got Kim chee pancakes (came in three), shoyu ramen, spicy pork bowl, chicken katsu with curry on the side, and tonkotsu ramen. All dishes were so yummy and delicious. The chicken katsu was my favorite - the outer layer was crispy and flaky and the meat was tender and juicy - it was not dry or super oily at all. The curry and sauce had a nice flavor too. Will definitely make the 30 minute drive out here again.
