This was one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I’ve ever had. When the bill came, the staff leaned in way too close — almost hovering — and stared directly at my receipt as I was deciding on the tip. It felt like I was being watched and pressured, with zero privacy. When I tried to choose a custom tip amount, she cut me off and said, “People usually just give 18%,” without even letting me finish. It honestly felt like mafia-style pressure, and I’ve never felt so uncomfortable or disrespected at a restaurant before. As for the food — my brother liked the curry, but the sushi roll portion was shockingly small. Like, embarrassingly small for the price. This experience left me feeling upset and even a bit shaken. I hope management takes this seriously, because no one should be made to feel intimidated or cornered while simply trying to pay for their meal. I was so uncomfortable that I just handed her $10 in cash to end the situation (the bill was $43 after tax, even though the service didn’t deserve it.

Great place for sushi at the airport. The service is quick and efficient. For a starter, I had the crab wontons which were delicious and had more filling than others I’ve had. For my main, I choose the Chesapeake roll, the crab and cream cheese were excellent. Good drink selection and don’t forget to get some Sake.

There are many great food options at National Airport. For a sit down experience, go to Matsutake Sushi. The wait for a table on a Wednesday afternoon in June wasn't long. Service is speedy. If you like cream cheese, get the Buffalo Shrimp sushi. It's shrimp tempura with cream cheese, sriracha, mayo, and a few other items. It's tasty! I enjoyed their Sauvignon Blanc for a refreshing option before a long flight to Seattle.

Meh, just skip this place. Pretty bad what we had. Not sure if the sushi would be any better. Try at your own risk but you won’t ever catch me there again.

Google
A calm and relaxing spot in a quieter part of the airport. The Sushi Moriawase here is always delicious—a perfect mix of fresh flavors and textures. Whenever I'm at DCA and grabbing lunch at the airport, this is my go-to restaurant.

Google
environment was calm and neat (demure and mindful). service was great. everyone including chef was warm, welcoming. surprisingly they had uni from California which tasted so fresh with slight sweetness. the amount of food was satisfying as well. the containers were tiny cute cups sculpted from cucumber which brought the natural refreshing smell. uni was $15 a piece. other sushi/sashimi on the menu had decent price.

I hesitantly walked into the sushi restaurant when I was in Reagan National airport. After a business trip. My flight had been delayed and I had extra time. I didn't expect much, but everything was delicious! My sushi roll was excellent, and the chili oil edamame, although being the messiest thing I've ever eaten in my life, was excellent and A very nice size portion. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly and didn't rush me when my flight was delayed and I stayed longer. All in all, an extremely good experience for an airport restaurant. Highly recommended.

Google
The ramen was tasty and not salty, exceeding my low expectations for airport restaurants. It was a bit pricey but not unreasonable, considering typical airport restaurant prices. I will visit here whenever I go to DCA.

Yelp
I was not really a fan of this place from our first interaction. The restaurant was relatively empty and we asked to sit at a slightly larger table and the hostess said no. Moreover, when it came to paying the bill, the waitress came by without me asking and waited next to me until I paid. It was awkward and I felt pressured to pay on the spot. The restaurant wasn't that busy so I'm not sure what the reason for the rush was. The only good thing about the service was that the food did arrive in a timely matter after ordering. The tobkatau ramen was okay, it had corn, two pieces of fish cake, two pieces of pork, bean sprouts, one egg. The broth was creamy and rich. For sushi, the dragon roll was bad. The rice was cold and hard and the eel didn't taste fresh. It was close to gas station sushi level.

Yelp
I had about three hours of wait time before my flight to Montgomery was scheduled to leave, and this restaurant was an outstanding option for me to grab a late lunch. They have a pretty full menu that includes both Teriyaki and Sushi. I would say there were probably twenty sushi platters to choose from. I decided on the Hybrid Sushi platter which mainly consisted of white tuna with eel sauce. The menu indicated that the sushi was spicier than most, but I wouldn't consider this sushi spicy. I think more like medium and not too hot. This restaurant actually requires patrons to be seated by someone, and they had pretty good service here. They also offer a great selection of Sake and premium imported beers. I basically stuck to bottled water. Nice service and a clean and comfortable dining experience.

Yelp
Super expensive. $18 for four small pieces of spider roll sushi. Can't believe how tiny the portions are. Great staff though.

Yelp
Surprisingly good sushi - especially for an airport. Not perfect but really good fish quality and texture. The service was stellar. I only wish I could have had a little more privacy instead of kind of sitting right next to all of the people walking through the terminal.

Yelp
We had a ramen and rice noodle dish, good sized portion with lots of veg, not bad for airport food! They forgot my miso soup, but we were full by then. Not too bad option :) they have Japanese, Thai, Korean options in the menu

Yelp
I was having the worst day of my entire life, at the airport literally escaping my reality, and I couldn't decide where to go bc I knew I needed to eat but just couldn't. I randomly picked this place. It was ...perfect? Like an actual gem in DCA. I got a Sapporo and *literally perfect like chefs kiss* lightly tempura battered spicy tuna roll and was *revived* honestly I will always be grateful to this place lol Incredible friendly service AND they leave you alone unless you need something which is awesome. It's right after you go through security and has a cute sushi bar and tables to sit at. I appreciate the chill it has away from the main part of the c terminal

Yelp
Service (2/5:) First of all, they were really busy at 1:30 pm on a Friday, I get it, but when I opted to wait for a table vice sit at the bar, I was rudely pointed to a seat. Food (2/5): The shrimp/veggie tempura was a good value at $12 - probably the best value on what seems to be an overpriced experience. The salmon nigiri wasn't worth the $4.50 per piece price tag - there was no paper menu on the table to let me know how much this was - I would have definitely skipped it. The pieces I had were rubbery and not sweet- a really big disappointment for the price I paid. Ambience (2/5): it's an airport. I was desperately seeking sushi so I wanted to have a pleasant sit down experience at the airport while I waited for my flight. Sigh. This wasn't it.

Yelp
My wife had a nice meal here while waiting for our flight home. I had a tasty tekka donburi, and my wife had a sushi assortment. The service was prompt and courteous, and the prices were reasonable-especially for an airport.
google avatar

Dylan W.

Yelp
The food here is surprisingly good for an airport. They are fast enough that if you have an hour before your flight boards you will have enough time to enjoy your meal. I had the karaage and green tea and both were fantastic. The karaage tastes authentic, fresh and juicy chicken breast. They serve the best green tea I have found in the states. Its flavorful and fulfilling. They are located in a quieter, less busy area of the airport so it is a nice place to enjoy some food while waiting for a flight.

Yelp
I took a chance getting sushi at the airport, and it blew my mind. Yes, it was overpriced, but it was worth it because I really wanted sushi. I ordered the Salmon Combo, which included Salmon Sashimi, Salmon Sushi, and Salmon Roll. It might not be the best sushi I've ever had, but it was the best airport sushi. I will definitely come back next time I'm at DCA.

Yelp
Sushi? At an airport? I was skeptical at first too when this recommendation came my way. Nonetheless, I gave it a go and it was a nice break from the usual airport food court options. Located on the main path of the terminal, the restaurant has both quick seating and a sushi bar. The service is quite quick, on par with it peers, chilis to go and TGI Fridays. For the price and the fact that it lies within an airport concourse, the fish is fantastic. A selection of rolls and other dishes adorn the menu along with some drink options. The standout item for me was the marinated mackerel. Buttery fish with a slight tangy flavor!

Yelp
Nice place for good sit down Asian food at the airport. The spicy ramen was full of flavor but only 3 shrimp , the chicken tempura was filling but $40. Sushi was nice as well. We hit $100 for two of us without drinks very quickly.
google avatar

Yelp
Airport sushi. You can't love it, but they do it well. There was no one else there but they still took quite a while to get to me. I got 3 simple rolls, all were delicious. It's definitely more pricy cause airport, but it will give you your fix Next to terminal c in the grand terminal area.

Milynn H.

Yelp
It's a really good place with good food. My and my friend are glad that we choose to stay till the restaurant open at 10:30am. I prefer the shrimp tempura over the regular shrimp roll ( but it's almost $1 more than shrimp roll and is 1 piece fewer than shrimp roll). Recommend multiple rolls of sushi if you don't want your stomach to be still growling after the meal. My friend had the soup and she really liked it:) The servers are polite. Good experience for an airport brunch after all.
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Had a few hours to kill before our flight and decided we want to grab some sushi beforehand. The sushi is all right. It's not the best quality you're going to get. Or sushi came out quick and the service was good.
google avatar

Xuehan J.

Yelp
Highly recommend the tonkotsu ramen. The broth is full of the umami. The price of this ramen is also reasonable.

Kim S.

Yelp
Very rude service and the sushi was ok. I will not be going back here next time. Try another place

Yelp
For Airport sushi, I found this place to be almost perfect. The prices are not competitive, but they aren't insulting either, at least to me. I've found the portions and service to be of solid value here. They also have some specialty items that I always make me happy to buy if I can afford to splurge. Blue Fin Tuna at the airport is uncommon, at least in my experience. The space is intimate and built for one or two people per party although they are happy to make any group happy if they are able.
google avatar

Barbara K.

Yelp
This is near terminal C. The place is clean, quick service and nice. Great place for a good meal while waiting for flights. Our noodle soups were very tasty, full of flavor and not salty at all. Ramen can be tricky since mostly it's salty to my taste but this one here is just perfect. The udon and ramen noodles were cooked perfectly, not too hard not too soft or mushy. I wish that there can be one location at every terminal at every airport
google avatar

Veronica J.

Yelp
I have to say it was nice to have a healthy food option at the airport. I wanted something light before my flight and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the Chesapeek Roll, and it did not disappoint. It was so good and fresh filled with blue crab and topped with lots of masago. It's not a cheap place to eat but then again what place is at an airport?
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
So let me preface this, the food is pretty damn good. But the price point falls so flat it's not funny. In terms of food, I mean look the food was solid. Our roll came out way ahead of our food and it was a solid 8. It didn't taste frozen, the fish was buttery and delicious, loved it. The food itself was good but overpriced. I enjoyed my Yaki Udon and my wife enjoyed her Hibachi. The atmosphere is fine, it's an airport restaurant what do you expect? Service is solid, they're not overly attentive but don't ignore you either. Like most aspects are good. So why the two? Because in all my life I never thought I'd see a bill for $100 for three items. I'm legitimately impressed with just how overpriced this menu is. Like some portions are generous like the hibachi, some are not like my Udon. It just becomes a question of what you order and how the dice roll. But the sheer price of this place should put it out of consideration for most travelers. I actually recommend going down the C gate and finding some other place.

Amarilys T.

Yelp
Airport sushi place. I was craving sushi so I decided to indulge while on travel. Food wasn't bad, unusually big portion of the tonkatsu that I couldn't even finish but it was good. I've had better sushi. All in all service was good also. Open area in part of the airport so ambiance is airport casual haha. Helps kill the craving.
google avatar

Kylle S.

Yelp
Absolutely satisfied! Good sushi and service in the airport. For what it is, it's amazing. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Tony P.

Yelp
Tonkotsu Ramen texture was too soft. Sushi was fairly fresh. Food came out quickly. The service is fair. Not a terrible spot for a quick stop when you're at the airport.
google avatar

Vincent C.

Yelp
Since I had arrived early to the airport and had extra time before my flight, I decided to get dinner. I came to Matsutake Sushi hoping for a quick decent meal, but I left completely disappointed. First, and perhaps most importantly, I notified the staff that I was allergic to seaweed / nori. Nevertheless, the chef served me nigiri with nori. Additionally, one of my sushi pieces had paper towel adhered to the surface. To make matters worse, my tamago nigiri came with comically small amounts of rice. Finally, the service here is quite slow. Despite the restaurant being far from packed, I had to wait an unreasonable amount of time, especially for the check. To add insult to injury, the sushi here is overpriced.

Yelp
Had to disembark plane on C34 going to Boston, they said we had an hour to play with, immediately went to this sushi spot sat down, ordered, was going to grab a couple rolls with my teen son and be back to the gate with time to spare. 20 minutes after disembarking my wife starts calling frantically stating that they are boarding, next call was last call, my son and I raced to the gate to be there before closing, I asked the lady at the gate was I going to be reimbursed for my $100 of sushi and explained that I had to leave without the food. Not sure if it was American or Matsutake or a combo of both who got the food on the plane before we took off but I have to give credit to both. Thank you Matsutake & American Airlines!

Yelp
Airport food ... good? YES! I had a craving for ramen so Waiting for my connection I decided to take a chance and have ramen. The restaurant was clean the people were friendly and efficient. I ordered the spicy Korean ramen. It was delicious! I will be a future patron and might even schedule a layover at this airport.

Chris C.

Yelp
Good sushi and nice service for a bite at the airport! Food came out fast, and the server was attentive.
google avatar

Darren T.

Yelp
For an airport restaurant this was excellent. Hell even if I wasn't at DCA this was great! Ordered veggie tempura and they gave me extra plus a miso soup for no charge. Had the Sushi Moriawase and Spider Roll, waaaaay too much food but I took it all down. This will be my go-to spot from now on. Excelsior!

Chris C.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant in DCA. Very good sushi, great quality and quick service. Highly recommend
google avatar

Orest S.

Yelp
Pretty good sushi place in the airport. Not too expensive and not crowded. Considering that it's not easy to have a good place to eat in the airport for the reasonable price - recommended.
google avatar

Taz H.

Yelp
I had a little over an hour to spare at the airport and this sushi joint was the perfect little place to catch a few rolls with a colleague! It was fresh and flavorful. My waitress checked us out swiftly and we were able to use Apple Pay. I would come back here for future trips!
google avatar

Lydia L.

Yelp
Not bad for airport sushi! Service was very fast, which is important when people have flights to catch. I had the spicy tuna and "rock n roll" maki rolls. The fish in both tasted fresh, and everything behind the counter looked good too. I think they pre-made the rolls (probably part of the reason they came out so fast), so the nori was a little chewy, but generally fine. The miso soup was a little grainy for my taste, but made a great finish to the meal for only $3. I would come back if I were in the mood for sushi again.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service , their food was amazing . I ate the hibachi steak and the kitchen catsuit it was a 10/10! The ambiance was alright . I wouldn't say it was amazing but it was alright overall
google avatar

Yelp
Great service, wonderful food and friendly staff. Pleasantly surprised by sushi at airport. Vast drink menu as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Quick, great sushi and edamame. Would go back for sure or get a quick meal here. Actually a decent beer and sake selection as well but didn't try any.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is good prices and portion are crazy. This pic shows what $5.50 extra for beef will get you.
google avatar

Fontane L.

Yelp
Really satisfying meal, especially for an airport! Needed something delicious but not too heavy and this was perfect! Relaxed with a chirashi and a cup of green tea. Fish was fresh and service was friendly! Would just be warn you that you'd want to make sure you have at least 30-40 min before your flight -- they get pretty busy!
google avatar

Robbie B.

Yelp
Pretty good spot for an airport stopover. Prices were very reasonable for being in the middle of an airport. I had two sushi rolls, both were great. The one that was deep fried came out warm and was flavorful. There didn't seem to be any draft beers and all seemed to be canned (which was fine). The service was great and the staff was quick and attentive. They forgot the appetizer order, but thankfully the sushi was more than enough! The ambiance is what you would expect in the middle of an airport and the bar seating had charging ports. Definitely worth a visit!
google avatar

Ada M.

Yelp
3.5 if half stars were an option. This place is pricey! But it's to be expected for an airport location. Service was not immediate as it appeared one server may have been on break (but eating adjacent to the bar) while the other one was working. There were 3 other tables besides myself, so they weren't particularly busy on this Monday afternoon. Here's a breakdown of my stars; 1 star for being a Japanese restaurant in an airport! 1 star for the sushi being fresh. I love spicy scallop and was pleasantly surprised to see it on the menu and also that it was delicious! 1 star for the waitress who let me use her iPhone charger because I forgot mine and phone was dying. I also ordered the tonkotsu ramen. I wish I could add another star for that, but it was very bland. The broth had no umami or really any depth of flavor or hint of pork. The instant tonkotsu from Costco is more flavorful than this. The chasu and fish cakes made for a nice presentation. For this I would have given the half star mentioned earlier. Overall if you are really craving Japanese and won't be close to having it any time soon, then eat here. Also if you frequent DCA and tired of other options, it's not the worst.
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
How is this place in an airport? Really good food. Pricey, but it's an airport, so that's expected. Wine is expensive but man is it a healthy pour. Will be back next time in DCA!
google avatar

Alice J.

Yelp
It's an ok place for Japanese food in the airport (a rarity, so extra points for that alone), but the dishes are pricey and not all that tastey. I am still happy to find anything Japanese though. Their service was efficient and friendly. No power outlets, but overall clean, nicely decorated, and the menu has enough varieties from sushi to ramen and udon, and rice dishes. Pork miso ramen was reasonably good. Pricier than if you have the same dish in the city, but then this is an airport. Chicken kara'age (Japanese fried bone-less chicken balls) was bland and stiff. Should skip it next time.

Cotina Pixley ..

Yelp
I ordered 3 rolls, shrimp tempura, avocado and California rolls and a Stary. My first issue is I waited and waited. Secondly, my order was wrong and I waited. Then I was given the wrong order so I waited some more. Only to never be give my Califonia roll snd the shrimp was hard and cold and i had to pay additional because they missed my California roll. And with all that I still did not get my drink!!!
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
Was looking forward to a meal here after a flight delay. I was given a $12 voucher that I intended on applying to my bill. I'm glad I mentioned the voucher prior to ordering. I'd planned on ordering some ramen, a side and maki roll for myself and then ordering some dumplings and salad to-go for my husband. The staff were fairly polite but I decided to leave. I'll load my voucher to my Starbucks card instead. I hope they change this policy for the sake of customer service and increased business.
google avatar

Jess T.

Yelp
Decent sushi. I had been avoiding this place for a while since it's right next to Ben's which is tried and true, but I had just spent a week on vacation eating lots of fried carbs and I was craving something a little light. The phrase airport sushi doesn't exactly inspire confidence that your meal will be good, but I was pleasantly surprised by the speed and quality. Miso soup was great, green tea was served at a good temperature and comforting, and the sushi rolls were pretty good quality. No complaints, I'd definitely eat here again.

Ed L.

Yelp
My expectations were low and I was blown away. I'd eat and drink here outside the airport. The frosty glasses really tickled my fancy. Made the Asahi go down easier than a Capri sun pacific cooler on a hot summer day. The UFO roll was delightful with fresh shrimp tempura and spicy tuna it's like I was transported to Japan with every bite or at least the airport in Japan
google avatar

Leyla M.

Yelp
their gyoza is very good! filling is yummy and the outside is nice and crispy. i tried their yaki udon and it was so awful. i took three bites out of the dish and couldn't stomach any more. the waitress was pretty nice but didn't comment on the entree until i said something.
google avatar

Rizma W.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Pretty decent for airport sushi. Someone sitting at the table in front of me ordered the Rainbow Roll and it looked good, so I decided to order the same thing. Flavor-wise, it was fine, but it looked hastily assembled and was lacking aesthetically... docking half a star for presentation. I also ordered the Udon noodle soup with the shrimp and vegetable tempura on top. Again, pretty good for airport food. I would have liked to have had more vegetables in the soup, though. The service was prompt, polite, and pleasant. The meal was filling (and much healthier than many of the fast food restaurants dotting the concourse). Overall, I'd say my dining experience was a success.
