Chateau Ste. Michelle Partners with the Seattle Kraken, and Climate Pledge Arena | Eater Seattle

"When Climate Pledge Arena opens in October 2021, I expect a polished, revenue-driven venue with plenty of VIP areas and fancy lounges alongside public amenities: a marketplace near the main entrance (which will include the 14 Hands marketplace open to all) and a club-only wine bar called the Chateau. The arena is touting carbon-neutral ambitions—aiming to source 75 percent of all ingredients within 300 miles—and Executive Chef Molly De Mers told Eater Seattle that the arena will have the most plant-based options of any U.S. arena, with sustainable solutions applied even to small concession details like ketchup and mustard. The food-and-drink lineup is coming into focus and includes announced third-party vendors such as Din Tai Fung, Lil Woody’s, Metropolitan Grill, Ballard Pizza, Just Poke, and Oregon brewery Hop Valley." - Gabe Guarente

Really cool first time experience going to see Billy Strings. The venue feels like maybe 1/2 the size of a sports arena, which isn’t small at all. It felt like 5,000 to 7,000 people, I’m not sure, but a really great size for a maximum full effect light show and sound experience. Eugene folks are above and beyond when it comes to friendly, and it seems like this venue space hosts a lot of great artists and big concerts. The bathrooms are close and easy to find, food and booze concessions around the corner, options ‘a plenty for food inside and nearby bars and restaurants, family-friendly atmosphere inside and outside as well. Go check it out, bring the fams.

Google
It is a good venue to see a concert or other performance. The only thing that caught us off guard is we had seen reviews saying that the chairs were spacious and comfortable. There is decent padding on the chairs, but being 6'1 and my wife being 5'10 we were both squeezed in there with our knees braced against the seats in front of us. We were in section 107.

Google
Saw a concert here. Even at the top seats you weee able to see and enjoy!

Google
Went to see Theo Von: Return Of The Rat shoe and had a great time. The workers at the show were very helpful helping me find our seats. The food there was meh , but expected at a show like this. Overall had a great time . The only bad part was trying to find parking and the traffic was a big headache to say the least.

Google
Bathrooms didn’t have paper towels/ soap, water cost 5 dollars, the graduation was supper underwhelming and disorganized. For the school of design, maybe they should have had one of the students design it (names were going off the screen and labels wrong). Furthermore, segregated sections for people who need ASL goes against everything design school teaches you, also never heard of PAYING to walk??????

Google
Darius Rucker is the shit!!! Love love love him. Austin Williams was pretty great too, even though he's just a "baby"!

Google
Was a great venue for the Theo Von show I saw. Would definitely go back. Building access was easy. Security was quick and thorough. Great audio through the venue.

Google
I had a blast watching women’s volleyball! The tickets were cheap and it was a fun experience!

Yelp
After waiting almost 2 hours to park in the ADA parking I was turned away and told the go to Autzenstadium and rake a shuttle bus which was not ADA compatible. No where was there posting telling people to not wait but to go to autzen what a poor way of treating the disabled. You should have done better. You are definitely a poor venue and I can you run by the state of Oregon.

Yelp
No stars. I paid a lot of money to see Tim McGraw. Security found our seats. Some guy and his people came up and said we were in his seats. We told them, if we are in someone's seats we will move. We were assured that we were in the right seats and they thought these people had fake tickets or were in the wrong spot. Try to enjoy said show. This guy comes back up to me and starts yelling that I'm in his seat. I quickly asked for security to come and get this guy. I asked the security guard again if we were in the wrong seats. He says no. I was a little upset at this point. I wanted to watch the show. I said "I paid a lot of money for this ticket, can you please make sure this guy doesn't bother us?". His response "you can watch the show sitting outside if you want". I had to contain myself. I was pissed. The same guy came up again to say we were in his seats. I asked a different security guard for help. Finally someone listened. I lived in Eugene for 30 years. I now live in Portland. Everyone talks so much shit about Portland. But guess what? MODA would have never let any of this happen. That guy would have been gone the second time he harassed me. And the security guard. That guys a douche and has a power trip. I was sitting floor and he was a large guy with a grey beard and stache. And a worthless asshole. I won't be going back to Matthew knight arena. Unless I there's a show I can't see in Portland. Apparently this isn't new. So many people have told me they've had bad experiences there. I'll stick to my horrible town of Portland. You can all keep Eugene. Matthew Knight arena is a dump.

Yelp
We went here last night to see the Toto and Journey concert. We had pretty good seats in the end I felt. Easy to get in and out. Popcorn was really really salty and I wouldn't buy alcohol there because it's crazy expensive but it was a great concert and it was nice to walk around the campus there to check it out

Heidi I.

Yelp
2nd worst concert of my life. Horrible, dangerous stadium. Paid $160 to sit in nosebleeds at a pitch very few can tolerate. Can't believe there weren't a lot of accidents. They didn't use the screens for the upper decks so we couldn't see what was happening on stage. They shone bright, retina damaging lights in my eyes until I could stand it no longer at left. Not a fan at all of the 1st act. Long unneeded pause between the change in acts. The background graphics during Tim's act were cheap and laughable. I wanted to stay and at least hangout with my friends but I couldn't. Why were they shining lights in the audience eyes when we already couldn't see what was going on? I would love to get my money back because the waste of time out of my life this experience stole from me cannot be. Sound was subpar and drinks and snacks were way overpriced as per usual.

Yelp
Looks cool on the outside has a lot of waste of space and not a lot of food options . The court is the worst. It has a bunch of trees on the court..

Yelp
I have now been to Matthew Knight arena twice. Once for a concert (Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) and last night for the women's game vs. Oregon State. The arena doesn't have great acoustics for a concert. The seats seems a little too sloped, so I got the feeling like I was going to pitch forward when I needed to stand for people trying to get in and out. Parking is a nightmare, as there isn't enough venue parking available, necessitating having to park a mile away in the residential areas and walking (if it's raining, which happens in Oregon from time to time, you are doomed). For the women's game, this place is a disaster. It was quick to get scanned in and the woman we asked about the General Admission seating was helpful. The lady handling the elevator was very nice. Then my youngest and my two 70+ year old folks ventured to find our seats. When you buy General Admission tickets, you are not notified that you aren't actually getting an assigned seat, even though the tickets list a section, a row, and seat numbers. That's a lie. If you work (like me) and can't get to the game 30 minutes early, you may not get a seat. Lots of people had to stand, which makes NO sense. At football games, you can pay significantly less for standing room tickets. Here, you may or may not have to stand, but you pay just as much to stand as you do to possibly sit. It's BS. So we looked and looked in various sections, often finding jerks who had jackets on empty seats. When asked if we could sit there, they were always being saved. We asked attendants what we were supposed to do and they told us to talk to the ticket office and walked away. What are they there for!? To be a-holes to guests? Finally, 8 minutes into the 1st quarter that we missed, we found two seats and my mom and youngest took them. I was able to find one by itself in front of them. My 72 year old dad? He had to stand. Was there another open seat? Sure. There were two old guys in front of me that wouldn't give up the seat in-between them. When I asked an attendant that walked by if they could make them give up that seat, they told the guy that they were saving it for a friend (that never showed up apparently, because they both rested their elbows on the empty seat the entire time) and the attendant walked away. Again, what are they there for? They don't DO anything! My dad ultimately watched the game from the top of the stairs. We had an OK time, but we were really close to paying $250 for 4 "seats" to a basketball where we all could have been standing the entire time. I'm fairly pissed about it. Standing room only tickets should be $5. If you buy a ticket and it gives you a section, row, and seat number, you should HAVE a seat to sit in. Combine that with zero parking and employees who don't DO anything, and I don't have any desire to attend another game. It is a real shame, because I would like to support Oregon athletics, but greedy people who oversell and put profits over providing a great atmosphere and experience make it nearly impossible.

Yelp
I had never been here until last night when my husband and I came for a Duck basketball game. This was something he has been wanting to do for a while, so off we went. Ticket prices weren't bad. Seemed a little high for basketball, but not over the top. We had made plans to walk to dinner and then over to the game after parking. They have quite a few places to park around the arena. We parked across from the Oregon Research Institute and walked over. It cost $10, but the attendant was helpful and informative. Not bad and very easy to get to and from. We walked around the area and I stopped to ask a couple of event coordinators that were directing traffic about where to drop off my mother and if there was specific handicapped parking available. We're going to the Elton John concert in a couple weeks, so I wanted to find out where to drop her off and park. They were all more than happy to help. We went inside, after scaling through the baggage check line. I gave my husband my ID and left my bag at home. This speeds up the process of getting in the door by a lot. We had to stop and look my our tickets to find out where we were sitting. There was an attendant/employee there to help and direct us, and were quite helpful. We sat in the 105 section, which was very easy to get to, and the bathrooms were right outside our section. We bought all of our tickets online, for both the basketball game and the concert. I have no opinion on concerts yet, as this will be the first one I've seen there. Last night we saw a Duck basketball game. The arena is quite nice, and very comfortable to sit in and navigate. There's multiple entrances, and it's easy to find your way around. It's not a huge arena by any near means, but that's something I've always liked about Oregon Duck venues, like Autzen Stadium and Matthew Knight Arena. We enjoyed our visit here last night, and we will definitely return. I had no complaints. Everyone working there was very helpful and made for a nice evening. Review 27 of 2017.

Yelp
Clean arena, parking is a struggle but its on campus so it's understandable. Friendly staff, many large bathrooms, of course ducks store inside as well.

Yelp
Great place to see a basketball game. There isn't a bad seat in the house. Pitt Crew is fun. Floor is unique.

Yelp
They need to get their act together! I'm disabled, was attending the Soul2Soul concert with my friend, also disabled. The parking map the venue sent me, showed a certain lot for ADA parking. We wanted to get there early, to get a spot, and, to get something to eat before concert. TG we saw some people doing parking, who told us, it wasn't that lot (SHOWN ON THE MAP, that I received the day before!!!), who then guided us to the actual ADA parking (what turned out to be an awesome night, the concert, could have been ruined, by a ticket, or, maybe, having my car towed!). Then, we took the ramp up to the doors, but, the only lines to get in, were at the bottom of a steep flight of stairs. I pointed out, the ADA walkway, didn't HAVE an entrance to the venue!! I saw a poor girl on crutches, with service dog, told to go down the steps, then, had to climb them again, to go through the scanning area!! Lack of proper signage, setting 'rules', then randomly changing them (what I received, said we could NOT have empty water bottles inside, but, we could take in what was medically necessary... water was, for us... they made us open, and dump out the Smart Water we'd brought (has all the electrolytes; think Gatorade), told us we couldn't have the caps, that they were 'dangerous weapons' (!!!!). But, a nice guy at the scanner handed them back to me, so we could fill up the bottles, and cap them, at the water fountain). Then, we approached someone that, their job was giving directions to get to your seating area, she sent us, disabled people, with canes, the wrong way, 3/4 around the venue, to get to our section... All of that was really horrible... But, the rest, the actual concert was AMAZING!! But, that part wasn't anything to do with Matthew Knight Arena, it was the consummate professionalism of that extremely class act, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and, their staff! Get your act together, MKA!! Fix these problems!!

Yelp
To call it Mac Court part 2 would be an injustice, considering how attached at the hip some Eugenians, historians, and hardcore fans were 4 years ago when Matthew Knight Arena opened. Instead, this newish spot has become another fixture in the landscape of Eugene, a versatile venue for sports, shows, and more. It modernizes the UO campus with its sleek look and has given the city a real option for securing lucrative attractions to the local scene. The arena boasts just a little over 12,000 (12,364 to be exact) seats and is home court for Oregon Basketball. It also boasts one of the most unique hardwood floor designs in the country (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/matthew-knight-arena-eugene#1tMsTkKBPJqljCIP7r_OYQ), called the Kilkenny Floor, featuring the Deep In The Woods" design from Nike. Speaking of Nike, the company's founder and Oregon donor extraordinaire, Phil Knight named the arena after his son Matthew who died from a tragic accident. At 200 million bucks and 2 years of construction, this is the most expensive on campus arena in the US. I appreciate the modern facilities, solid acoustics, and even the comfortable seats. The experience will vary depending on the game, concert, show but on a whole this is a much needed upgrade. The parking situation is still very limited and the building sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the residential look of the campus. It's not perfect, but it is uniquely Oregon.

Yelp
Although the old McArthur Court was hardly anything to write home about, in terms of modern conveniences anyway. But what Mac Court lacked in modernity it made up for in atmosphere. Well, the newly-opened Matt Court has all of those modern conveniences. The architects even managed to retain some of the old building's atmosphere. The upper deck is angled at the highest possible angle allowed by law, which gives the upper deck a feel similar to Mac Court. Unlike Mac Court, however, the viewing angles from your seat are much better. Like most new arenas, the sound system is set to about 17. Be prepared for the aural assault. And of course, be prepared for the visual assault. The ribbon board is very bright, and reflects on to the floor -- an artifact very much reflected on TV broadcasts. Oh yeah, the floor. I'm sure you've heard something about the floor. It's actually not as bad in person. But it is bad. Then again, this is the University of Oregon we're talking about. You wouldn't expect anything else from them. Phil Knight and Nike definitely got their money's worth.

Jordan L.

Yelp
A woman threw her drink in my face because I was standing (no rules against standing at this concert) and security handled it very poorly. As I'm standing there with my hair, clothing, and shoes soaked with red wine, an employee of MKA told me to "sit down or leave." No repercussions at all for the crazy woman and her husband, who threatened to throw me off the balcony. Security was notified of all of this. So if you like being assaulted and then insulted, Matthew Knight Arena will certainly oblige. Have fun.

Yelp
This review is for the venue as a concert experience. Portland concert goers are familiar with the basketball arena turned venue concept and the Moda Center serves adequately if not spectacularly. Eugene's Matthew Knight Arena is essentially a smaller version with significantly less corporate branding. Seats are comfortable enough, sound quality is surprisingly high and parking (at least in the surrounding area) is easy. Didn't hit the concession stands, lines seemed to move decently and prices were less than other venues. Overall a strong venue.
google avatar

Courtney G.

Yelp
Such a professional looking arena for the U of O basketball team! Huge screens and actually an experience that makes me want to watch sporting events at a university I didn't even go to. Parking is difficult of course because it's on campus, and will probably run you about $10. Haven't been to a concert here but they have some pretty big names come through!
google avatar

Ron L.

Yelp
While the sound in this arena is good when the performer is big enough to bring their entire crew there are significant problems Quinn local people provide the sound. For example Rod Stewart sound was horrible while Elton John was excellent. The parking is completely inadequate for a 12364 seat Arena. There are inadequate numbers of Usher's and the seat markings are nearly invisible. If you want to see your favorite performer I suggest you wait until they come to Humphreys on the Bay in San Diego or the Greek Theatre. At these venues they have a better idea of how to handle the crowds
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing arena! I saw WWE event here last night . We had a excellent time! The seats were comfortable. It was easy to find my seat. The event staff was very helpful! Parking was difficult. But if you call the Days Inn you can park there for $10.00 for all events! That is a big plus. I highly recommend this arena!
google avatar

Larry G.

Yelp
Fun place to see a basketball game. There are some seats that are pretty high up, but visibility is great and the arena is comfortable for the crowd size it holds. Tickets are a bit expensive but worth it overall.
google avatar

Brandy S.

Yelp
You should be ashamed of yourselves. Not note ing where the stage is when you purchase tickets is bogus. Section 215 faces the back of the stage!!!! This is criminal. I can watch a big screen at home. This sucks. So not worth the 2 hour drive. Good thing I have awesome company.

Yelp
My first visit to MKA was to see a Tool show. I had purchased tickets online (bad system that stalled out with a notice "do not refresh, do not open another browser window" message that had I listened to, I would not have been able to acquire the two tickets I purchased from a different screen while the first was still inoperable). Getting in to the venue requires a pathetic search of your personal belongings, and a pat down from minimum-waged security "experts", who are better at enforcing the no-cell phone policy rather than providing actual security. Had I taken the time to try and smuggle in a pocket knife, flash light, or any other self-defense item, it would have been very easy to do so. Our $75 tickets were in the nosebleed section 203, where the rake is so steep, it seemed like it would be easy to lose your balance and topple over. Whoever designed the aisle labeling system should be smacked upside their head. The concrete steps conveniently block the letters printed on the side of the seats which denote the aisle, to the point where the staff could barely figure out what aisle is which. The seats themselves were off to the side and not that great. Large speakers suspended above the stage blocked the view of the stage where the singer situated himself, although I was able to see the drummer, guitarist, and bass player with good view from the side. Great special effects and lighting made the show enjoyable, but the sound was so loud the seats vibrated uncomfortably. I praised my earplugs for saving my ears and filtering some of the distortion. My final gripe is that this type of venue would serve copious amounts of alcohol to already wasted patrons, and not be equipped with staff to effectively handle drunken, violent outbursts in a timely fashion. I'd much rather see a concert at an outdoor amphitheater, or a different venue, rather than attend anything at the MKA again.

Yelp
I have just experienced my first Matthew Knight Arena event. It was not the event of my own choosing, but I never turn down a free event with my friends! We went to see Passion Pit. Great show, not my personal cup of tea, but good none the less. My issue, was $6.50 bottle of Coor's light. Yep, you heard me. I live in Eugene, Oregon. Home of Ninkasi, Oakshire, Hop Valley and many other great brewery's and I was forced to drink Coor's light at $6.50 a pop. I of course had the options of Mikes hard lemon-aid for $7.50 or Red wine for $7.50. I would have opted for the wine, but that wasn't a per bottle price, that was for a cup of wine. What a poor representation of Eugene and it's brewing culture. That's my only complaint. Everything else was good. C'mon people, make me proud to be from Eugene and boast about our local breweries. Local, Local, Local!!!

Yelp
The new arena is pretty decent, but it is no Mac Arthur Court. I do like that it is a lot easier to get food and use the bathroom here but the atmosphere is not very good. What can I say I miss the pit!!!
google avatar

Yelp
That b-ball court design is DOPE! In the woods! Yea, im feelin that! Fair prices to get in to watch some Ducks basketball, pretty nice and helpful staff, truly awesome fans rockin the place, the band just killin shit....man....what else can i say? Oh yea....GO DUCKS!
google avatar

Jacobi M.

Yelp
Modern and chic, like an interplanetary spaceship landed in Eugene. You'll hear from the most die-hards that McArthur Court or "The Pit" as it's affectionately called was far superior to Matthew Knight Arena, but I don't buy it. This arena was designed simply and with the fans in mind. It offers unobstructed views and very comfortable seating throughout the arena. The concourse feels part stadium, part art exhibit and will leave you breathless and wishing you had your very own Phil Knight to cash out.
google avatar

Yelp
Went last night to see Kevin Hart for his new comedy college tour. You truly can't have bad seats here. Got to see a screening of his upcoming movie also which will be released in January 2015. The lines to get in were fast and efficient as well as the line for snacks/ beverages. Had a great time.!

Yelp
Matt Knight Arena is the one of best additions to Eugene and the University of Oregon. I've been to Matt Knight Arena for men and women's basketball games, the Elton John concert, and the Nike Tennis event. This arena can host many different types of events and do it well. It is laid out beautifully and is easily comparable to the top professional stadiums across the nation. There's lots of concession stands with a variety of food vendors. Not a bad seat in the house. Go.

Katie C.

Yelp
I wouldn't say this is the best arena I've been to, but it was nice for a slightly smaller WWE event. While you don't really have room for someone to walk past you if they need to get out of the aisle, what arena does? It's not a big arena, but it's decent. To get into it it was quick and easy which is a big thing for me. It was organized and simple. The only complaint is that they had 2 concessions open and huge lines before the event, but honestly it went by quick and if you go out during one of the shows it isn't busy.
google avatar

Yelp
I was a visitor from out of town and I know nothing about the old Mac Court, so I can't make a comparison, but I'll just say that I had a great time because of the basketball game (upset win over Arizona, 2014) and not because of the arena. Aesthetically, the building itself is beautiful and not just on the outside. But functionally? Yikes... Many college basketball arenas don't have an "upper level", and if they do, crowds enter the main auditorium space at "mid level", and can proceed to both lower seats or upper seats. At MKA, you have to go upstairs in order to get to upper level seats which is fine but... there aren't any escalators. You must climb stairs. It was a little weird to me that I was visiting one of Phil Knight's palatial modern facilities, and all upper level traffic had to climb stairs. Again, the arena looks great but it has a feeling of being somewhat unifnished. The upper concourse looked sort of naked, like there are art/design projects yet to be put in place. Most concession stands are kiosks instead of fully installed kitchen space, and this of course can be an inventory problem when there are large crowds. At halftime, the lines for every men's restroom were out the door and onto the concourse. If the lines for a MEN'S restroom are that long, there aren't enough restrooms. Lastly, the seats are very narrow. I'm a large guy, but I've never had trouble fitting into a seat at a stadium or arena before. I can't speak to the complaints that I'm reading about concerts, but if you go for a basketball game, there's not a bad seat in the house when it comes to sight lines. Just place your excitement on the event, not the facility.

Yelp
Ok I know smoking pot, cigarettes, and other things is cool at a Metal Show, this place has no ventilation! There were many people laying on floor trying to get a breath of air. Not fresh air, just air that has a little oxygen in it. My god, this is a new venue. You can't even see 20 feet in front of you with all the smoke.
google avatar

Shannon R.

Yelp
Very upset with how my family and I were treated. Harassed for over an hour in the wheelchair seating. My stepfather is in a wheelchair.. some guy that is not bound to a wheelchair wanted us to move because it was his birthday. The event security bothered and harassed and made us miss most of Alice Cooper. Very disappointed. Also looking into the Americans with Disabilities Act.. since I'm sure laws were broken.

Yelp
This is beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst arena ever. We have been for several events and have decided: NEVER AGAIN. 1st problem: Parking. Sure, they have a parkade- but it takes a zillion hours to get out of it after an event. There is ZERO street parking. So, the business owners across Franklin Blvd. rent out spaces during events. Last time we were there, due to DROVES of people attemtping to get across the six lanes to their purchased parking, a man was hit by a car! Not that it's entirely their fault...there is only a single crosswalk to get across those six lanes; so a lot of people jay walk. 2nd problem: Entrance/disbaled entrance. There is a single entrance and I work with a guy who went with his family to one of the same shows we attended (Jeff Dunham). His mother in law was in a wheel chair and they would not let her in the entrance from the parkade; even though they had preferred parking, and took an elevator into the arena. They made them all travel back down, go to the outside, and around the arena to the steps of the single entrance. 3rd problem: Seating and getting to and from your seat. It doesn't matter where your seat is...you have to use the stairs to get down to your seat. You are not, unless in a wheelchair, allowed to use the elevators- I'm not kidding -they have them gaurded. So even though we paid for front/floor seats, we had to walk up and down four flights of stairs if we wanted to leave our seats for any reason during the show. Then- after the shows, EVERY SINGLE PERSON is on the stair cases, moo-ing their way SLOOOOOWLY out of the arena. Why so slowly? Because the stairs are only wide enough for a snigle person at a time going in each direction. 4th problem: Lack of planning for concessions. By the time I got to the front of the line for a cold beer- they were selling warm beer, at $6 a bottle. They simply "didn't have cold beer, or a way to refridgerate it." Apparently, the beer is brought in pre-chilled and gets warm over time. Yes, really. 5th and the very biggest problem: THE MUSIC SOUNDS TERRIBLE. Any and every concert sounds like crap. Make that double crap. The sound is so bad in the arena that it makes you wish to God that you had brought earplugs. I was twenty feet from Sir Elton John, and I actually did wish I had brought earplugs (AND not paid over $200 for my ticket!)

Yelp
I have attended several concerts, basketball games, and shows at MKA. However, this last visit proved to be the final time I will spend money in support of a venue that really doesn't think much of providing guests with appropriate seat views or a wonderful experience. I have attended two concerts and each time the sound system was a bit too loud-distorting the singer's voice. Basketball games here are great-no complaints. The Monster truck show was meh at best--you really need more space in order for it to be worth the time and money. We attended the Cirque Musica Holiday Spectacular last weekend and were sorely disappointed at how few acrobatic and cirque acts were included in the two hour show. Mostly it was another brilliant performance by the Eugene Symphony. I love the symphony, but really was looking forward to sharing Cirque with my family. To make matters worse, I spent almost $80 per ticket for a special VIP floor seat experience, that included an obstructed view of two large black speakers blocking my view of the stage. When I called to talk to the MKA box office today, to express my frustration and see if they could offer a credit or make amends for the terrible seats, I was told that the manager said there was nothing they could do. They were sorry the experience was not good, and knew of other guests who had complained of the same problems, but they were not willing to do anything about it. MKA--You've lost my business and respect. Customer service should be a priority to you, as your guests are the ones paying for your venue and salaries. I love the UO but am very disappointed today. I'd recommend going to PDX if you want a better experience.

Yelp
Saw Tool here the other night!! Well, heard them at least, kind of, with an echo. Word of advice, do not take any side stage tickets. We were in section 202, which is way to the side and way up in the back. Couldn't see the stage because of the low hung speakers completely blocking the view. Couldn't even see the light and stage show. And I get much better sound out of my home stereo or my iPod. It was so echoey!!! Terrible venue!! Will not be going to another show at this venue, even though it is so close to home. I feel like I got ripped off; $75 a ticket for obstructed seats (which weren't stated as obstructed) was way too much money; I don't care how big name the band is. I expect to see the show I paid for.

Yelp
July 31, 2104 Santana & Rod Stewart performance. We sat in section 102 (far up) and my date and I could not even hear each other if we were yelling. We had to text to each other during the performance to communicate. The VOLUME of the music was PAINFUL!!! We both agreed about the excess volume and is was extremely concerning to put our audio health thru that experience. We get it, it was a rock concert, we expected noise. We are not old foaggies, normal people who like to hear and desire to preserve our hearing for the rest of our life. They do not sell ear plugs. I do not recommend this venue for music performances.

Yelp
I've heard some folks say that they don't like Matt Court, and I gotta say, I'm shocked. I mean, I get it: Mac Court was also a real gem, and irreplaceable. But Matt is different, and holds a place in my heart, too. Now, to be fair, I have not seen a show here--only hoops, so keep that in mind as you scan my review for your purposes. First on my list of what to love are the aesthetics. It's beautiful in here. Whether one is walking in from the path along the Athlete's Cube, or fortunate enough to ride up in the special elevator from the parking lot, you feel like you're part of something special. I love the window-lined second floor. It's a great place to circle either before the tip off or at halftime with a visitor or a long-time Yewjeanian. The views are fantastic, and it's a nice way for newbies to get their bearings. Now for function. There's really not a terrible seat in the house, IMO. I've sat up in the nosebleeds and, thanks to a friend one time, I got to sit on the floor (squee!). The seats are comfy, which makes Ernie Kent mad, but it does make it too easy to cheer while sitting down (sorry). The Duck Stores here? Also muy especial. Great service, well stocked and, again, gorgeous. Definitely don't miss a game if one's scheduled while you're in town. It's a truly Ducky experience and the fans are So Much Better than the douchey Autzen crowds.

Yelp
Ive been to arena concerts all over the country, and this place is just the worst. The sound was awful, tinny, and quiet. We all got treated like criminals on the way in with FULL BODY PATDOWNS! What is that? This is Eugene, not Detroit. Parking is a nightmare, tickets are overpriced, staff is surly and unhelpful (well obviously not all of them). And to top it all off, the "artwork" inside on the walls consists of giant blowup posters of their dumb players (ordered from fathead I assume). And the centerpiece? A UofO store with $100 fleeces for stupid housewives. As tacky as you can get. So dont waste your money here( like Phil did), unless you have NO other option. Phish rocked though, like always.

Yelp
We are currently here for a volleyball tournament and there's a basketball game going on at the same time. The Event Staff are being EXTREMELY rude to the teams that are packed in like sardines up against the wall. Yelling at us, yelling us that if we don't do as they say there's going to be "serious issues" and many other things. I understand that whoever planned an incredibly busy Saturday at the arena probably overlooked the fact that when there's a volleyball tournament there's a TON of girls, equipment, gear, FOOD, and family. There's absolutely no room for anything. Very disappointed in the poorly planned volleyball tournament as well as the rude Event Staff (particularly Jeff) that is here representing the University of Oregon Ducks.

Yelp
Beautiful new arena, with every seat angled for a clear view. However, if you're in the upper section, prepare for some vertigo when you look down...it felt like we'd tip over when we stood up! The loud and spirited atmosphere of the students at the UO basketball game made this a fun experience.

Yelp
Wish they would have more variety. The seating is cramped, and if your too high up all that you can hear are the instruments.

Yelp
It's no Mac Court and certainly lost it's tradition in a trade for Nuke's glitz and glamour, but Phil Knight got this construction design right. Still a very tough place to play, phenomenal facilities, but still not sure about the Fir Tree infested court. Regardless, it's one of the most innovative designs in college basketball and worth seeing at least once.

Yelp
Since the parking at this venue is so atrocious I had to park 4 blocks away from the arena and walk over. I got there early and hung out with my husband until around 6:15, they said the show started at 6:00. We didn't want to see the first band because they weren't our taste. So we get into the security lines and can hear that the second band is already playing, so the show obviously started early. (That's fine, it happens) The security line was then split into 2 seperately lines because females couldn't be checked by male security, I suppose that's also understandable since I'm sure there could be sexual assault claims. My husband goes into the other line and it was moving much faster and I watched him get checked, he was allowed in and I waited my turn. I heard a few of the ladies in front of me having an issue because according to the security in our line you weren't allowed in with pins on your clothes. I thought maybe they had big safety pins on their clothes.... NOPE, just those little buttons with pictures on them. I had 2 pins on my vest and I got up there and they told me I would have to either throw them away or go all the way back to my car and put them away and go through the line again. Now I wouldn't be to pissed about it because I suppose Yeah they have a sharp pointy thing to keep them on, BUT THE MEN'S LINE DIDN'T HAVE THIS RULE. My husband has nearly 20 pins all over it and he got in no problem, they didn't even say a word about it. I missed Metal Church play because the security is a clusterfuck and were obviously trained inconsistently or maybe trained that women shouldn't be let in with pins and buttons?? Once I finally got through the line and got into the venue and only to floor I saw men all over the place with vests with pins as well so I know it wasn't just some fluke I saw happen one time. The show itself once I got in was awesome and we had a great time besides that, but the staff is a joke.

Yelp
Comfortable seating without a bad seat in the house. The PA system has been dialed in and the exterior concourse is nice and wide making it easy to get around. Plenty of concession and bathrooms to accommodate the needs of the fans. Oh, and yes, it is LOUD! Parking is $10 in campus lots and more expensive to park at the arena itself.

Yelp
Well my first time coming to this venue completely sucked. We arrived to find other people sitting in our seats. We spent most of the set of one of the main bands we came to see running all over with the worker from CMS (crowd murdering services) trying to figure out the fiasco. We were informed by her that this kind of crap happens every show. So after having to waste more time going to the box office to show our receipt and id we were finally able to get seated. It was really annoying being yelled at by some old nasty toothless tweeker for standing there while CMS got them out of our seats. It upset my son so badly he wanted to leave. We were grateful to finally get our seats back but it was frustrating as hell. The other thing that I thought was ridiculous was the cigarette smoke. To each his own if people want to pollute their lungs so be it. However I didn't like having it blown down on me all night as well as wafting up from the two girls in front of me. It was making me sick and gave me a huge headache. I highly doubt i will ever come to a show here again.

Yelp
While getting my Journey ticket scanned to enter I was told that my seats were being reassigned and to go to the desk inside to find out where the new seats were. This was upsetting because I was quite happy with my seats where they were. At this desk we were given seats to the side of the stage and one level lower. After the first band Asia played, I went to the desk and told them all the speakers were in the way and you could not see the screen behind the band. I asked for different seats which they said they could not do. The Journey concert, while musically great, was terrible because of the seats I was assigned. I think when they do this they need to give a partial refund. These were not the seats we purchased.

Yelp
We saw the Foo Fighters concert there. They need to show the Moda center how to do it. Police were inside and out and right at the entrances giving a more secure feeling in light of recent events. It was very organized and the t-shirt sales was the best part. Normally a table is set up and you have to literally fight your way up to the front. Not here. A line with ropes was set up and you wait your turn. At the end of the line before the sales table a lady directs you to the next available cashier. Such a great experience!

Yelp

Yelp
Tool was great! The sound guy sucked in my opinion. From where I was sitting, directly behind the soundboard, I could barely hear Maynard. His vocals were blown out by the music. Turn up the mic! Also the crowd control people were out of control, the biggest pricks ever. They ruined my first experience at the arena. The Tacoma Dome was awesome, The Rose Garden was too, the security at those venues were practically invisible, left you alone if you weren't causing trouble. The security at Matt Knight made it their business to get into your business every chance they got. They constantly got in my face if I wasn't in my seat, it was like I was in high school detention. I wasn't out of my seat no more than five times, had to use the restroom a couple times and looking for my friend. Just above my seat there was a landing, balcony kind of area were you come into the arena. there were 15 or so people standing there watching Tool play. Security would walk up immediately and ask you if you knew where you seat was and told you to go sit down. I stood up there for a little while after I came back from the restroom because I could not get to my seat at the time. A security guy came up to me and asked me if I knew were my seat was and to go sit down, I told him I could not get to my seat at the moment. He had a shitty attitude and said, "what do you mean you can't get to your seat." I said, "My problem is you guys, why are you harassing everybody?" He yelled in my face, "Well, if you are going to be a d**k about it!" I said, "you guys are the d**ks!" I showed him my ticket and said, " I want my money back!" He grabbed my ticket from my hand, tore it up and started walking off, "Follow me! Now!" I turned and walked the other way into the crowd and back to my seat. Also, we weren't allowed to go out and have a smoke during intermission, I'm not a smoker but my friend is. Would it have been too hard to make a secure smoking area outside the door? The Matt Knight Arena sucks as a Venue. It will have to be a very compelling show to get me to go there again, if at all.

Yelp
Husband & I attended the Jason Aldean concert spring of 2015. The opening DJ was great. After that the sound was turned up to an extremely loud & vibrating volume. I don't even think earplugs would've helped. We and others near us were holding our hands to cover our ears. We could only bare 10 min. before we went out to the lobby to stand it out & wait for Aldean to come on. We returned to our seats near the top row when he came on, but we were so discouraged that the sound was still so uncomfortably loud, so we left the arena. What a waste of $$. The 1st and probably the last concert we'll be attending at this arena. We'll instead go to the Rose Garden in Portland where we've enjoyed great concerts (Kiss, Bon Jovi) & where the vocals & music of the performers are not drowned out by poor volume control/sound system mechanics. I hope to see Aldean someday in the near future at the Rose Garden.
