Great market with local vendors. Beautiful area to walk around afterward.

Such a beautiful way to spend a Saturday morning. We enjoyed the coffee while we shopped for some local goodness. Enjoyed samples from the goat cheese place and chatting with makers of all sorts. We arrived around 10:15 and much of the food offerings were sold out by then. It was gorgeous outside today so it was a popular place to be! All of the colors of vegetables and the smiles of my community brightened my weekend. We will be back and make this a regular part of our weekends. Next time I hope they are not sold out of pickles.

This is a fantastic market for fresh goods. The fresh vegetable selection is immaculate and you can find a fair amount of items that are difficult to find elsewhere, such as amazing microgreens and assortments of basil. I look forward to coming back for more fresh produce and the amazing community atmosphere.

If you haven't been here on a Saturday morning, you have to go. The parking is free and stays packed while the market is open. There is everything from organic vegetables, natural honey, chicken, beef, eggs, cheese, and many more food items. You can get a handmade cinnabun with coffee while you shop for fresh vegetables.

It's not as big as the Farmer's Market in Charlotte on Yorkmont, but it's great for Matthews. I was impressed by the variety of fresh vegetables. I definitely took some carrots home with me. I was disappointed that there wasn't as much fruit available. Some items were reasonably priced; others were not. Looking forward to returning.

Matthew's Farmer Market is amazing. No wonder they've been doing this for so long! If you ever have the chance, go. They even double snap benefits ! No pets allowed sorry, but a great Saturday morning out with amazing fresh food & great people ! There's parking in the front and back areas, I would definitely recommend either putting in Pre-Orders or coming as soon as they open ! It gets packed

Matthews is kind of far from us, so we don't make it out this way often. We were coming for lunch and decided to come early for the farmers market. They have plenty of free parking off of the alley behind the market. I love not having to worry about finding parking. The market is really nice. It is still their winter hours until April, so it was only open from 8am-10am which I was surprised by. That seems so early to end. Especially because it's so much colder in the morning. I've been to a handful of the farmers markets around town and I think this is one of the nicer ones. They have nice stalls for each vendor. There's a good variety of produce and pre-made local products. We got a bagel and donut from Team Rose Bread as well as a bun from Bun Apetit. Everything was fantastic. We'll definitely come back in the warmer months when we can browse more and stay a little longer without being so cold.

It's a nice market but it's small. Most produce is picked out before 10. The cheese line is always the longest.

Renfro hardware is a true gem. I love that they carry locally grown seeds. And the atmosphere at the market is terrific.

This is what you think of when you think of a Farmer's Market. Hyper local produce, locally made bakery items, cheeses, local meats, usually some live bluegrass music, some good coffee. There's nothing not to like. My kind of place. It's small and easy to visit. Get there early--some of the best things sell out quick.

I live in Matthews and have been going to this farmers market for years. Get there early, 8am for the best choice. Things will sell out fast. There is fresh coffee to be purchased, along with some of the best pastries you could desire. There is a wide selection of vendors. Besides produce you will find honey, baked goods, plants, flowers, pottery, meats, soaps and more. Having just completed a cross country trip. I have come to cherish our home town market. The team that runs this market have brought so much to our market. There is musical entertainment and a chef demonstrating weekly using market items for their recipes. You can even enjoy a King of Pop, popsicle on those warm days. You will see friends or make new friends. Don't miss out on this treat!

The Matthews Farmers Market is one of the many gems the little town of Matthews has to offer. I love this market because you will NOT see items like avocados and bananas in Dole packaging like you will at some farmers markets here in Charlotte. Last I checked Dole wasn't a local farmer. Just sayin. This market for how small it is, be prepared it's SMALL and can get crowed real fast, offers quite of bit of different items. Aside from the fruits and veggies one comes to expect from a farmers market, DUH, they also have a basket weaver, a soap maker, bakers, potters and a really nice guy who sells carnivorous plants. Stop by and talk to him. He's super nice and very knowledgeable about his plants. My kids find him very interesting. In fact thanks to him we now are the proud owners of a Venus Fly Trap. It makes quite the conversation piece for sure. I am personally fond of the Goat Cheese Lady and her neighbor the Pork Farmers who have wonderful breakfast sausage. I also have a crush on the bread lady who makes these incredible breads like Asiago and oregano, whole wheat cinnamon, mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes AND par baked pizza crust. My mouth is watering as I type. As everyone else said, get there early to get the good stuff but if you happen not to get there until 9-10 ish, you can still get your hands on some good produce and even catch a cooking demo with one of the local chefs or a craft demo like candle making. Enjoy!

Overall best. Have made friendships with vendors & restaurants that are in great relations with the market also. over the years - best place to go for quality and price. Would encourage to volunteer there to get the inside scoop & get paid in okra, left over strawberries, a hug;-) Psalm 118:24

As the other reviewers said, get there early or you will be out of luck! If you show up at 10 or 11 am, you may not find what you were hoping for, because all the popular fruits/veggies will be sold out. If you are a fan of meat, there are local farms that specialize in providing grass-fed/antiboitic-free beef & pork. I think there are also farmers offering fresh eggs, but they have always been sold out by the time I make it over there. While is it small, I do really like this little market & it offers just enough variety to keep things interesting. In addition to the usual fruits & veggies, you can pick up locally made crafts, goats milk soaps, honey, jelly/preserves, herbs (both freshly cut & potted so you can plant in your garden) and other items. Of course, as expected with a typical farmer's market, don't forget to stop at an ATM on the way!

Until November, there's still time to check out the Matthews Community Farmers' Market. It's one of the best in the area. There's an abundance of organic farmers who show up for this one, which I appreciate, and there's always other events going on in conjunction with the farmers' market. They've recently added a pepper roaster, and the smell of the peppers is amazing. My favorite part of this market is that there's almost always an interesting free sample of SOMETHING. If you wander around long enough and look hungry enough, someone will give you a taste!

No dogs allowed so I won't be coming back. I've never heard of a farmers market that doesn't allow dogs. Too bad because it's nice and small, and the produce seemed quality. Oh well, there are plenty of others closer to Uptown Charlotte.

This farmers market offers so many great things: The variety of products is huge, the layout is beautiful, there is live music a lot of the time and very often a chef from the Charlotte area performs live cooking demonstrations at the market, offering generous samples of the foods. The vendors bring a lot of unusual foods and plants to the market. I've discovered pepper grass, a spicy kind of leafy green that is great in salads and on sandwiches, one vendor brings native plants that are really fun and will naturally do well in your garden, there are several meat vendors that offer sustainably raised products (beware though if you have a problem with kosher slaughtering practices, some vendors here do observe those). There is a French baker who also makes great patés and a guy who sells venus fly traps, which is a really fun thing to have and take care of. And the list goes ever on. All this comes at a bit of a price: Many (though definitely not all) products at this market are fairly expensive. But I usually feel that if I come here for a little culinary adventure every now and then and do my normal grocery shopping elsewhere, it won't break the bank and make my weekend cooking and gardening quite a but more interesting.

If you're looking for a high quality supply of meats, this is the place to go. In the winter this famer's market is TINY but that doesn't mean that you won't find good things from flowers & baked goods to grass-fed beef, pork and chicken. We pre-ordered some roasts from Baucom's Best and picked them up from Farmer's Market this morning. They look beautiful! And coming from a girl who was vegetarian for over a decade, that's saying a lot. We are very fortunate to have dedicated people willing to spend cold winter mornings out in a small lot waiting for us to pick up high quality LOCAL food. My friend just read Omnivore's Dilemma (I'm #22 waiting at the library for this book!) and is convinced local is the way to go. The 5 stars is not for selection or the size of this thing but purely for the community aspect of it. There are numerous things going on - from music to cooking lessons to a pepper roaster (it's free!). It's also extremely cute and very small-town like. People kept running into someone they knew. It's apparent that the organizers of this thing try to get everyone involved and to have more people come out and enjoy the fresh produce. I purchased some pretty flowers (30 stems for $18!) and some hot peppers (there is a stand that has an unbelievable assortment of peppers - sweet and spicy). I bet when fall hits they'll have so much goodness!

Small, local, fresh - what more could you ask for? The farmer's market in downtown Matthews is open on Saturday mornings (Tuesday nights during the summer as well) and gets quite the crowd. Bring your cash though, because they have everything you need to make a delicious, fresh from the garden meal. And to top it off, if you don't know what you make? They have live cooking classes/shows going on most of the morning. One thing to look for is the fresh meat/sausage. We have recently added it to our Italian nights with great success! Recommended!

Matthews Neighborhood farmers market is the place to go to get all your fresh and local fruits and veggies. I love the location of this farmers market because they have a good amount of parking and there is a coffee shop and other little cool shops in walking distance. I also like that each vendor is very friendly and they tend to remember each of their buyers, which is a nice little personal touch. As with any farmer markets, the earlier you get there.... the more goods are available. one time, I got there at 10am and almost all the vendors were sold out. Matthews farmers market isn't the biggest farmer market in the area but it's still a nice farmers market to get all of your essentials.

I lived in Matthews when this was a twinkle in the townsfolk's eye. I transplanted from Miami, FL where organic and fresh were just a given everywhere. I love the market atmosphere, but am one who also loves to sleep-in on weekends...NOT a good idea IF you want to make good at this market. It's time for the Matthews market to choose a new space, a larger one. Also, no reason why it couldn't open year round. I'm an artsy-craftsy person and there are MANY of us who live in/close by the market. I'd love a great place to display my wares/wears! It doesn't HAVE to ruin any atmosphere of the current market...there are so many creative people who are a part of Matthews, that I'm betting the logistics could be worked out with ease! It could keep an open air feel while also having an indoor area. I'd visit WAY more, myself, if it was open year round. Time for some bigger thoughts, Matthews!

I love this Farmer's Market in my new hometown!! I always find something interesting there on Saturday mornings. Most of the vendors allow you to sample the goods that they are trying to sell, and most are very willing to talk/educate the passers by on their goods. What a great way to spend a Saturday morning!!

I always visit farmers market when I hear about them. It's a great way to meet locals, and find out what foods are local to the region all the while purchasing some high quality produce, fruits and veggies. This farmers market you can tell was a local treasure and everything is set up nicely and the food all looks darn good.

Best farmer's market in the Charlotte region. Friendly farmers willing to chat about their methods and products. Great bread! Get there early because unlike grocery stores, what they have grown is all they have. If it's hot, make sure to get a King of Pops, sea salt chocolate is my fave!

Good place to meet area farmers and pick up grass fed meats. Try to go at least once a month. Neat area in town.

We are big local and organic produce consumers. I absolutely love the produce, especially New Town Farms for their organic produce. Make sure you get there at opening bell on Sat. And there is a line that forms for their produce. We are vegans, however the Baucom stand looks great for the carnivores who like meat, eggs, chicken, etc. if we were still in our meat eating days ,my hubby and I would of gotten the Baucom bacon!! They have a home baked bread vendor that is to die for and she makes amazing stuff, along with a French guy who makes pastries and other yummies. The vendors are fantastic and EVERTHING is locally grown unlike the Regional and Kings Dr. Farmers market. The vibe is really nice and laid back and the market has really good chefs from Charlotte doing cooking demo's and sampling the food. Very well run and even though it is small, has excellent choices of food. Our biggest problem was spending too much money!!
