Hosted my husband’s celebration of life Thursday. Could not have been more perfect! Servers on top of everything, bartender friendly & efficient and food delicious and portions generous. Managers super accommodating. Hats off to Vito, Quinn, & crew. You made this special event one to be fondly remembered by all! Appreciate all who contributed with making this party a success! We were there for an early dinner on a Thursday. The chopped salads were very good. They had a house dressing over romaine, feta(?), black olives, artichoke hearts, celery, peppericini, ham, and pimento (?). My cousin had chicken Limone over linguini and spinach. The chicken breasts were flattened and lightly breaded. I had a bite of my cousin's chicken; I thought it was very good. I had lasagna. It was a generous portion with good flavor. There was a nice amount of cheese. A nice, crusty bread was served with our meals. The bread was served with butter and a bottle of olive oil. Our waiter offered more slices of bread when he saw we had eaten the original offering. There was a bar but we didn't have any cocktails. There are several handicap parking spaces and a concrete ramp that would make access easy for someone in a wheelchair. It looks like there is an area for outside dining in appropriate weather. The atmosphere inside is nice enough but not extravagant. It is essentially a single large open dining room. However, there is a separate dining room that I might use in the future for an upcoming private family event.

Good food if it's your 1st time, but for us regulars, it's not the same. I got a brisket with puree potato and broccoli to go, and you will see what it looks like in the pictures. Sadly, I was home when I opened it, and I was not about to drive back to exchange it. The shrimp appetizer was amazing. The regular pizza not to be confused with their wood fire pizza was good. The donuts and gelato tasted good. We took 4 of the donuts to go so we can enjoy them at home as well. The reason for the 3 stars on food is because their is no reason to get a meal to go, and it look like dog food with half the container empty. There was plenty of room, as you can tell, completely untouched.

100/10 recommend dining here! This is easily the best Italian food we’ve ever had, and one of the best meals in a really long time. Our waitress, Alex, and the whole staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was so lovely, and just what we needed after a busy day in the hustle and bustle of the city. And the food! The food was divine. The stuffed mushrooms were out of this world, and could be a meal all on its own. The crispy stuffed chicken and salmon piccata were delicious, just make sure you save some of the warm bread from the beginning of the meal to soak up all of the decadent sauce from your mushrooms and meals! The kids pizza was so good, and massive! And Don’t skip on the drinks either, so yummy! Bottom line, if you’re thinking of dining here, think no more!

Best italian food in the area that my family and i have had in a while. . We keep coming back for the wood fire pizza, but We have had their pasta, and specialty dishes, and we have never been disappointed. A must try if you're in the area. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The owners are amazing by the way, 1 of the owners "Vito" took the time to come by our table to say hi, check on us and thank us for coming in. Go now and be blown away!!!

We were here this past Sunday for the annual #SundayFunday. The DJ was on point! We had a blast, dancing, hanging out, eating and having cocktails, while listening to throwbacks from the early 2000s! The service was excellent, and I couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate my birthday. My friends and husband surprised me by bringing me here and I will definitely be back for their next annual summer party!

Excellent experience at Mattone for a birthday dinner. We were brought some bruscetta on the house that wasn't on the menu yet (to provide feedback). May of us ordered from one of the many specials that were offered. Dessert donuts were brought out at the end of the meal as well!

What a delightful experience! Wonderful food. I enjoyed the crispy stuffed chicken breast with risotto and vegetables, dining paartners enjoyed rigatoni with veal meatballs and eggplant parm. All delicious. Waitstaff and servers were so nice! Will hopefully return again. Really enjoyed the restaurant.

Came here for a nice dinner... but the food was very MID. The chicken parmesan was squishy, the spaghetti mushy. We also had the eggplant tower to start, and it was ok. I felt like everything was unseasoned. The bread was good tho! And the donuts were dry asf. The staff were lovely, hence the 2 star rating. Good service can only go so far! I'd attach a pic, but I threw the leftovers away when I got home. The restaurant was cozy looking, but we were sat by windows, and it was v drafty.

Mattone Restaurant is a hidden gem in the Western suburbs. The Italian food is outstanding!!

Bon appetite! If you're looking for good Italian food with great drinks, head to Mattone. It's a great place for A girls night out with a few drinks or even a family dinner. They offer dinner and drink specials. Our server was fantastic. She was able to give us suggestions bc we were stuck between two entrees. Portions are big enough to share between two people.

We got a little bit jammed up the other day, as we were set to go here for dinner with friends. I was under the weather and so we ordered food from here for pick up to bring back to house. The foods were as good as eating inside their restaurant. Next time if ever happens again, we would forgo the appetizers as they were not as good fresh, a bit soggy. We had so much food that we ended up eating leftovers for 2 more meals, not a bad thing. When I called to cancel our reservation, the staffer said I am sorry you could not make it for dinner, then I told we were ordering to pick-up.

Got a pizza for take out on this cold Friday. Great pizza overall - I wouldn't say quite thin crust, but it was done just right. Crust tasted great, plenty of great tasting sausage on the pizza and the sauce was the perfect balance (and not too sweet). One of our go to spots and will certainly continue to be!

Mattone restaurant has the best eggplant I have ever tasted. The pizza is delicious too. I can't wait to try everything on their menu.The waitresses and bartenders are so friendly. I give them five stars. Karen

I have been a longtime patron of Mattone restaurant. One of my favorite meals is the Mattone chop salad with chicken. One of the many reasons that keeps me coming back is the service. We always request one of our favorite servers Tina. She knows myself and family by first name and always makes us feel welcome. The ambiance is of the restaurant is nice.

I always order to go the stuffed chicken with risotto and stuffed mushrooms. The only problem is the chicken dish so salty. It comes with spinach but I don't know why so salty. I have no way of making any comments when ordering online. They need to put a comment box so you can voice some concerns. As always delicious but salty.

Days ago, I was informed that there is a LaGrange and a LaGrange Park (welcome to the 'burbs!). We wound up having a nice dinner out at Mattone, an Italian restaurant in LaGrange Park. The four of us dined on an early Saturday evening after a day of estate sales and vintage shopping in the 'burbs. Our table was presented pitchers of water, and complimentary bread and butter as we contemplated our menu selections. Drinks ordered by us included martinis, and my Noon Whistle Gummypocalypse beer. Our friends who have been to Mattone previously recommended the ribs, so I went with the full slab of BBQ ribs with parmesan fries. I asked for the BBQ sauce on the side (also a recommendation), which allowed for the crispy char of the ribs to be fully tasted. My love enjoyed her entree of shrimp linguini in pesto cream sauce. Other dishes ordered by our group were fried calamari and linguini with clams. We all had leftovers so that we could enjoy some of this Italian food at home. Service during our dinner was fine and unintrusive. The post-meal wet naps were appreciated. There is a free parking lot for all Mattone patrons.

Great food, service and ambiance. Our server Alex was very attentive and paced everything out perfectly. We had the bruschetta in a jar, the white pizza, ziti with burrata, Caesar salad, and risotto stuffed chicken. All amazing and plenty of leftovers. Will be back!

Mattone's has been a family favorite for years! Their food is great and the service is excellent. Whether it is carry out for a meal or pizza, or a GREAT meal inside, the food is always excellent. I would recommend this to everyone who loves Italian!

could have beenA LOT BETTER. Don't waste $26 on their dry chicken parmigiana. I ordered this as a carryout item. Though I have yet to taste the salad, I feel that I should have done a drive through at McDonalds and saved $20!

We hosted a graduation party for our kids at Mattone Restaurant and everything was wonderful! The food and the service were amazing! Big shout out to Grace and Liz, our servers! Thank you for taking care of our family! Everyone had a blast!

Make sure you don't order pizza on a Monday. The special pizza ovens are not used and the "tavern style" pizza is the only option. I went when the wood fired oven was in use and those pizzas are superior. The bread served before the meal is excellent. The service was not that great on Monday. The waitress knew the pizza was of poor quality but didn't warn me. No refills on coke. Never checked back. I really enjoyed my first visit on Friday but this is not a Monday restaurant.

Mattone was a last minute choice for us the night we went but we have driven by it for years. It was just ok. Service was fine, but the food was passable at best and we were both annoyed that the cost of a night out didn't pay off as far as quality grub.

We were in town for a roller derby tournament and after skating all day we came in last minute with a large party (17) before closing. We were a bit disheveled and stinky and dressed in our Jerseys and athletic wear. The staff set up a large banquet room for us and took the time to show care and smile even this it was close to closing time. The service was phenomenal. The bartender was awesome and funny. She made my friend a homemade non-alcoholic drink that was delicious. The wait staff was amazing and super friendly. The food was delicious and in large portions! I'm not from the area but I would highly recommend and definitely would return! Thank you to the staff!

Do not do business with this restaurant!! By far the worst experience ever!! What was supposed to be a good night turned out to be the worst!! The owner (Vito) lies about the prices! He quotes you and books you for a certain price just to lure you in to book the "package deal" and in the end turns around and charges you more than what was quoted. I would not recommend doing business with this restaurant at all!! If I could give them 0 stars I would they scam you out of your money!!!

1st time to Mattone. We ordered a wood fired cheese ,sausage giardiniera pizza. A small order of cheese sticks and wine. My thoughts on the pizza. I was surprised at the lack of sauce and giardiniera on the pizza. I requested crushed pepper , which was given by the bus boy. He asked if I needed it spicier, I said yes. So he brought over more giardiniera, not my server , who seemed very busy. The place was busy , and I waited a bit. It seems like a forever wait ,especially when you have to wait to start eating food that's on the table. Don't you hate that? I understand it's a cold spell , but I hate sitting near the door , the blast of cold air when the door opens. I guess next time I'll ask for a table away from the entrance. My mistake was for not requesting one of the few empty tables away from the door? Would I go again? Probably not

I'd put Matone's in the category of a traditional Italian spot that is reliable enough to stick around for a long time but is unlikely to knock your socks off. That's not a bad category to be in if you're trying to make a buck. They have a marvelous brick pizza oven smack dab in the middle of the restaurant and while I've never tried the pizza, it looks good. The space is open and airy. Lively but not loud. The charred Caesar is really good - and plentiful enough to easily split. The warm bread served with olive oil and parmesan is worth the calories and carbs. I had Braciole, which I rarely see on menus. It was tasty, but the flank steak was tough in places. My daughter ordered alfredo and she gave it a thumbs up. It was crowded for a Monday night so that says something. The service was attentive. If you're hankering for pasta, their choices are limited IMHO. But lots to choose from otherwise.

Clearly a lot of effort went into this place, but had a pretty 'meh' experience going in with several family members on a quiet Sunday. Restaurant was barely at 'mid' capacity and the server was incredibly friendly. But, then almost an hour went by and we were either hoping to order food or catch the server's eye to pay so we didn't leave without paying for drinks/apps. At that point, the very nice server came back and said pizzas would be about an hour. Slash half the group of 7's orders. We needed another minute to decide. 20min later we put in pasta orders. Above par pasta, but at this point... hard to judge. Apps: Calamari - hard to mess up - but wasn't ... well.. it was fine. Bread -- delicious! Great olive oil! but in the 2hrs before we were served food, we only had a small loaf to share that was gone in the first 15min. Might have been an off day, benefit of the doubt. But sadly, that's the day we dined. Entrees were 6-7/10. Service was friendly as heck but we felt like we were in a ghost town.

This place is past its prime. The service is great but that doesn't make up for the high prices and poor quality.

My husband really likes this restaurant. The pizza and minestrone soup is to die for. Very nice atmosphere and wonderful food! Service was delightful and very conscientious. Lots of to-go pizza orders and happy faces awaiting the delicious feast when they get home!

Solid performance by this local gem. Has takeout the other night, crispy chicken. Was done perfectly. Hearty dish. Subed out spinach for grilled veggies. Big chunks. Didn't skimp.

Loved the red sauce and the meatballs. They were perfect, but the Grilled Calamari was horrible - soaked in Balsamic like a soup. Here is a clue, Like Garlic, Balsamic is to ENHANCE the flavor, NOT overpower it. If you cannot taste the food because of too much of anything, then you ruined the dish. If all you taste is Garlic, then they used too much garlic. In this instance, I could not get past the sweet, overpowering flavor of Balsamic. Really bad. Grilled Calamari is just that - GRILLED and it should look grilled! If Balsamic is lightly drizzled on top, that is fine, the rest of the Balsamic can be served on the side for those who like more. Similar to GRAVY on Turkey or meats. You should not smother the dish - you serve the graving on the side. This was plane BAD! But in all fairness, the meatballs were EXCELLENT, and the red gravy was near perfect. I will go back and try something else, but it will not be Grilled Calamari.

I tried Mattone's for the first time and my friend loves this place. The sons of the original owner remodeled the place and it's very updated and has a wood burning oven in the center of the restaurant between the dining room and bar. I wasn't a fan of the pizza but enjoyed the chicken marsala and my husband liked his cheese manicotti. They have a great selection of wine and beer and the service was wonderful. My favorite was the dessert and they take a little longer because they make their donuts fresh with strawberry or chocolate dipping sauce.

Getting in and out of the parking lot can be a challenge if you're coming from the opposite side of the street. The menu is just okay...

5 Stars again for the food as well as Esmeralda, our waitress. Mattone's Easter Brunch was in a word A-MAZ-ING. The food choices ranged from Pizza to Prime Rib to Ham to every kind of side imaginable. Drinks were not included, but were reasonably priced. My son and I both had Bloody Marys. Their ravioli was to die for. I loved the broccoli and pasta. French Toast was Yummy. When serving scrambled eggs to a crowd - Care needs to be taken because the eggs in the bottom turn green. That was not the case with these eggs. They were soooo good. The bacon was cooked to perfection. Omg - the sugar sprinkled donut....I seriously thought about taking one home.

We ordered 10 cannoli's to go last Sunday for our Easter lunch at home. Although they were ready to go when requested they were terrible. Absolutley no taste at all. Tasted like they only put whipped cream inside with green food coloring at the end of the shell.All that with a tip for $40. Maybe this was a fluke as our friend recommended them. If they couldn't make them like they were supposed to, they should have said so. What a disappointment and quite embarrassing for our company.

A good friend bought a house not too faraway and the four of us were celebrating. The food was excellent. The chopped salad was exceptional as was the hot bread and Julie, our server, kept bringing it out. We ordered the chicken parmigiana, as our main. It was enough to share between two (and take leftovers home). We shared the tiramisu for dessert- yummy. This was also a large portion. Back to Julie, our server - she was excellent. So accommodating, so welcoming, and so pleasant. The cost of our meal was very reasonable. We will be back.

Have driven by this places for several years and finally decided to give it a shot. Monday night so even though it's usually a slow evening, I made reservations due to Covid. Plenty of spots at 6:30PM though, wasn't necessary. Lola was our server and really did a great job. Attentive, but not over the top, really pleasant as well. I think my favorite part of the meal was the grilled calamari.. the balsamic on it was the best I've ever had.

Went back a second time hoping the brick oven was on this time, but nope it wasn't. So we ordered a gas pizza, it was absolutely delicious. Also ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, while the steak was cooked to perfection I didn't think it went well with the bread... seems have been affected by the pandemic, because the bus boy service is very poor and dirty looking

All is great! Minestrone, Lasagana, Stuffed chhicken, mushroom appetizer, thin crust tavern style pizza not brick oven.

One of the most unpleasant dining experiences we have had. Busboys walking around in gym shoes, shorts, and with their stomachs sticking out basically doing nothing. No water refills, clearing plates or asking if we needed boxes for our leftovers. Just walking around aimlessly and then meeting at the host station to joke around with each other. The restaurant takes the unused silverware from the tables and puts it back in a bin to be put on another table. And the worst ever; the host collects the menus and holds them up to the light. He told us that menus with no food stains are reused by other patrons. I asked him if the owners thought that was Covid safe and he shrugged. Stay away

Everyone raves about this place but I don't see it. Good food and atmosphere but better places in my opinion. Wouldn't be my pick but would go back.

We recently hosted a funeral luncheon at Mattone's. I would highly recommend them. They were very helpful in assisting us in planning the event and were very easy to work as we didn't know how many would join us as it's hard to know with a funeral. The food was absolutely delicious! In particular, everyone raved about the chicken limone! And, the service was great. My husband and I are looking forward to dining at Mattone's in the near future. Thank you Mattone's!

Mattones flat out has some of the best pizza in the area. The ricotta on the pizza is so delicious. Also, the broccoli and shells is to die for. Mattones vinaigrette is also something you cannot skip as it's the best dressing you will have in a while!

Extremely disappointed! We reserved a dinner for six individuals and we were not informed that it would be buffet style. It was Mother's Day and we would not be able to get any other reservations anywhere else, if not we would have left. We decided to stay and try the buffet. At $40 per person you would think that the food would have been hot. They had breakfast fair as well as pizza, some pasta but everything was cold. We have eaten here on other occasions and enjoyed the food but today was a huge disappointment and a costly one at that. When we asked if we could order off the menu they stated the buffet was the only option. This was never communicated to us at the time of reservations. Made for a poor Mother's Day celebration with our out of town guests.

We have been going to Mattone's for many years now, they have good wood fired pizza. We have also thrown a couple of parties there, as they have all you can eat and drink party packages. My 30th birthday bash was even held at Mattone's. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Of course, as the years progressed so did their prices. Around $22 a person for unlimited pizza and beer for two hours was the rate ten years ago, now it's way beyond that. But a business has to stay in business and so I get it. Lately, and for obvious reasons, we have been doing takeout. Their bruschetta for $6.50 is one of my faves. You can taste that the bread is first grilled and then layered with all of the tomato mixture yumminess. Topped off with real parmesan and I can eat all 8 pieces for a meal. I do wish the bread pieces were bigger! Their stuffed pizza is also fabulous. The sauce they use is very flavorful, with subtle hints of garlic. They also have a very thin layer of dough atop the cheese, which actually works and I'm definitely not a crust lover by any means. Their pasta is okay, as I am pretty sure they make their fettuccine on site. Their vodka sauce is just m'eh and they are not generous with it. I ask for extra and I get charged for it, but extra really wasn't given. Their baked mostaciolli contains a generous portion and so that's satisfying. The real star is their doughnuts(aka ogre doughnuts). The perfect ending to a great meal! Mattone's is a wonderful place to pick up dinner and I definitely recommend!

We have been eating here for years and have used the banquet facilities as well. I can't say enough good things about Mattone. Of course the food is fantastic! I could go through the menu but I've honestly never had anything that wasn't 5 star. As good as the food the staff is even better. They are so accommodating and easy to work with. You owe it to yourself to check out Mattone.

Meh. That's just all I can say. Not wow'd by anything here. I went in craving pizza and my husband had already picked out the rigatoni condatina. The pasta was pretty delicious but the pizza....nothing to write home about. We did a Hawaiian style but their crust was just not that great. It was very soft, no crunch, no crispiness, and there was a lot of sauce which overpowered the toppings. The pizza was sadly much better re-heated the next day at home in the stove...but why pay for a pizza that you have to fix at home?! The calamari is not even worth mentioning...The Moscow mules we had were very weak as if the ginger beer had been sitting out for a week. I'm not interested in even giving this place another shot which is sad because it has one of the best outdoor dining areas in the vicinity.

I had my son's baptism party here. They were super accommodating and very helpful with planning the event. All my guests were so happy with the food. Everything was delicious everyone kept telling me how amazing the food and the service was. I would definitely recommend having any event here. We are also going to go back to dine.

Food was mediocre at best. The brio re was tough, the eggplant Parmesan was luke warm, and had no flavor , the shrimp with pesto was good, the veal meatballs with vodka cream sauce Chef Boyardee tasted better .. Ambience was nice , service was ok.
