This place is a must‑visit for amazing BBQ. We ordered the sample platter to share, and let me tell you — the meat was incredibly tender and smoked to perfection. We chose fries and slaw as our sides, and both were excellent. They were out of burnt ends, so we substituted chicken, and it did not disappoint. Now I can’t wait to come back and finally try those burnt ends! Ariel was working the register, and was so friendly and helpful in guiding us through the menu. Overall, this spot is a 10/10. I’ll definitely be back and will recommend it to friends, family, and anyone who will listen.

Had lunch here about a month ago and damn was it good. Had brisket, sausage, and some texas twinkies. Everything was unbelievable. The brisket was moist with a ton of flavor, sausage moist and had that perfect snap. The texas twinkies great too!

It was my first time here. I enjoyed the brisket sandwich and fries. It was a small joint. It gets really busy in there and the environment is loud. The staff were really friendly. If you've never been there before, the menu is written on a board. You order at the bar and they'll bring you your food. I like the sauces there. They have a hot honey sauce, honey bbq, and a vinegar bbq sauce.

Crust on the burnt ends was great. Elote was creamy. Brisket was good, with the black pepper crust. Tots were so crunchy! Everything was delicious.

First time here. Came early evening, glad we did. This place has fresh food and when it runs out it's out. Sat outside as they had ample picnic style tables to sit at. You order at the, counter and they bring it to you. Great menu options. I ordered the brisket, fries and strawberry margarita. We had a larger party. Food didn't take long to come out. The brisket was tender and just melt in your mouth. Fries were sooo good. They have 3 different sauces you could try. I had the honey BBQ sauce and it was good. Our group ordered various meats from the ribs, pulled pork, burnt tips, macaroni to the jalapeno poppers and everyone loved the food. I'm picky with BBQ because most people cannot cook it right but this place does a great job!!!!! I do recommend this place and I would come back!

First thing on Christmas Eve we called when they opened and made sure that I would be able to place an order for dinner. Call back at 2:00 the place the order and was told they're doing catering only. Someone at 11:00 told me that I could order the Lemonster. Well when I called to order my dinner I was told no. So won't be coming to Matt's anymore unfortunately. From now on we'll going be going to veteran owned Mission BBQ which tastes much better anyway just a little further Drive. They also had no problem taking my 300.00 order and having it boxed in 15 minutes.

Great bar, with even better BBQ. I've had the brisket which was good, and just had their burger which was fantastic, from the bun to the cheese oozing off it. Shiner on tap, and they sometimes have other varieties too. I love the live music they feature in the evenings, Thursday and maybe Friday nights I think. Always had great service each time I've been in too. Not a cheap lunch per se, the food prices are kinda steep but on par for most bbq places.

Picked up a load of barbeque at Matt's on Saturday for the NFL\WWF Match between the Monsters of the Chicago Midway and the Packers of the Wisconsin Green Bay. Vegas money must have been on the Bears! I had not been to Matt's in a while and after Sunday's smorgasbord, I'll not repeat the mistake. We started off with Smoked Wings and Texas Twinkies (Bacon Wrapped-Brisket and Cheese Stuffed Jalapenos). Great flavor and heat! We also had some of the best Baby Back Ribs I have ever feasted upon. I smoke ribs weekly and these were honestly superb in every sense. The pulled pork was deployed for sandwiches for the little ones. All sauces and sides--shoutout to the PICKLES--were on point. Packaging was done with care for transport home. One of the workers even helped me out to the car with my food and tried to refuse a tip for the hand. I'll be more of a frequent flyer after this most recent visit. Great job to all the staff at Matt's!

Stumbled in here on a cold weekend night with the kids, it was almost 8pm but our nose lead the way. This place has casual but warm vibes and the lady behind the bar that was doing drinks and bringing out the food was super inviting. We ordered the brisket, sausage, and burnt ends and a few sides and enjoyed everything but the star was the burnt ends. It was in a sweet and smokey glaze like sauce and even the kids that aren't huge fans of meat liked it. Grabbed a banana pudding and pecan pie to go. Looks like they have an outdoor area too so can't wait to go back in the summer!

The food wasn't bad. I got some brisket, which was happily not too fatty. I liked the BBQ sauce. The sides we got were pretty good as well; we tried some cornbread, and some macaroni and cheese. The elote was spicy! However, service is not good. I placed the order to go. After 20 or so minutes waiting, I noticed that a couple that had come in a few minutes after we ordered were eating. I got in line to ask for ETA on our food and the employee said my food is what had been sitting at the bar for at least 10 minutes. She didn't call my name, or ask one of the multiple people restaurant employees to let me know or anything. We weren't sitting at a table; I was standing with a stroller trying to keep a toddler pacified whilst we waited. It's not that I'm EVER in Lemont, but based upon this experience I wouldn't come back if I am nearby.

This is a cute local gem in downtown Lemont! When you enter, you decide what you want and order and then they bring the food to you. The girl taking our order was super friendly and gave suggestions. There is plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor. We decided to sit outside since it was a beautiful day, but then had to move inside due to bees. I decided on the brisket slider and a side of mac & cheese. It was all very delicious, but I didn't feel like it was filling enough my friend got the loaded nachos with brisket on top and it was a lot of food! I almost wish I would've gotten that we both enjoyed our meals and it was nice that they had three different barbecue sauces that you could choose from to put on your meal. Overall seems like a great place to get some good food and hang out!

Horrible food and services. The briskets are flavorless and poorly cooked. They also delete the comments that they don't like.

Great local bbq spot in downtown Lemont. It's pretty straightforward, walk in, order at two counter and they'll bring it to you inside or out. Summertime outside there's often music on the weekends. Super casual and all ages friendly. Food is good! Recommend the loaded tots with protein add to share. Pulled pork sandwich is also tasty and a good value. Def worth checking out.

We love BBQ and were excited to try a new spot. Overall, we liked the TX theming, but the food fell flat. The ribs were really dry and I could not recommend them. I also did not care for the Mac n Cheese. I did like the drinks, but won't be back, too expensive and just didn't hit the mark.

Well this is the best BBQ around!!! The lady who I believe is the owner is beyond friendly! It's so cute inside and interesting it used to be an old bank and the vault is still there. The ribs were some of the best I've ever had. We had a combo platter. Also where you got a little bit of pork you got a little bit of brisket and they were all good. It's a cute quaint place and sometimes if you go there on the weekend later in the evening, they might be out of some of their foods. In the summer, they have a great area to eat outside and it's really nice up and down that whole street in Lemont. I highly suggest you give them a try. You will not regret it really good barbecue and I'm very picky on my barbecue. I would give it more stars if I could.

The bbq is absolutely amazing. The sides however could use some more love. I love going here because of the bbq and the staff is always amazing and kind.

Matt's BBQ occupies an old bank in downtown Lemont, IL. This space is pretty cool, and even features the bank's old vault behind the bar. They also have a large, covered patio outside of the establishment that is open - weather permitting. They offer a full bar, and I was meeting an old friend for lunch recently, so we decided to "belly-up" and see how the BBQ stacks up. I don't want to come off sounding like a prick, but I smoke meats pretty much weekly in my backyard on both a drum and pellet smoker, so I rarely eat out when it comes to barbeque. However, Matt's got some good reviews, so I decided to give it a go. I was happy I did. First off , our bartender/server, Emily R was outstanding. She was friendly, made great menu recommendations and despite being pretty busy for a Wednesday afternoon, we waited for nothing. Hats off to Emily - Matt, please keep her happy because she's one of your biggest fans. We ordered some drinks and split the sampler platter for $50. We upgraded the sides from smalls to mediums and added 1 sausage and 1 Texas Twinkie (a jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese, pulled pork and wrapped in bacon). This was completely unnecessary, as we had plenty of food for the two of us, but my buddy was able to take home leftovers - which was appreciated. So what was good?? The pulled pork was spot-on. The house made sausage was delicious and reminded me of these homemade hot-links I used to get at an old cabinet smoking, carryout spot called Fitzee's on the southside. Simply delicious. The mac and cheese and potato salad were both very good, and the Texas Twinkies were also a standout. Very flavorful without being too spicy. Not so good were the burnt ends - which were very dry and tough. They definitely needed sauce, and Matt's offered a Carolina vinegar-based sauce, a standard BBQ sauce and a hot BBQ sauce. I'm not a fan of any Carolina BBQ sauce, but my buddy is, and he said it was good. I liked the other two sauces, but neither stood out. I'm also a believer that good BBQ doesn't need sauce, and most of our platter did not - which is also good!! Unfortunately, the brisket was just okay. It also required sauce as it was pretty dry as well. So overall, I would definitely reccomend Matt's. The place had a great vibe. Emily was super friendly and responsive, and 80% of what we had to eat was absolutely delicious!

Great BBQ ribs, brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends, sausage, "twinkies" (jalapeños wrapped in brisket, yummm), and more. Trini watches out for everyone and makes all happy!

The place is very cool for some BBQ! The ribs were the star of the show! The spices were great as well. The people working are friendly and make you feel at home. Definitely worth going if you are in the area!

Based on many high Yelp ratings, I'm going to suppose today was an off day (for me or for them) and try again in the near future. I ordered a beef brisket sandwich & fries to go. Fries were fine, but the brisket was very dry. I'm a fan of Station One Smokehouse in Plainfield, but am always hoping to find something equally as satisfying closer to home. This didn't do it. Besides being dry, the smokiness taste that I so enjoy in these type sandwiches was barely noticeable. No choice of sauces, but the default one that came with the sandwich was fine, and helped moisten the dryness somewhat (but that's not the sauce's job). But again, must be an off day.

Hands down the best ribs in the state. We've been traveling between the Chicagoland area and surrounding burbs looking for ribs that fall off the bone and THIS IS THE SPOT! The banana pudding is great too - we stop by just for dessert sometimes :)

Just got home from our first visit to Matt's BBQ!! It was delicious!! My husband and I split the BBQ platter. Brisket, pulled pork, sausage, burnt ends, bacon wrapped jalapeño popper and 2 sides. Everything was delicious, but it was the brisket and pulled pork that will get me back. The meat was so delicious and smoked to perfection!! Really great BBQ!!

Nice staff and quick, but food just lacked flavor. Sauces aren't great. Brisket was dry. Elote needed way more mayo and seasoning. Mac and cheese was as basic as it gets. Two people ate for $69... just not quality food.

Great neighborhood place. Not a ton of great BBQ shops in the area so this is a welcomed addition to our downtown. Live music, awesome patio and great food and drinks. What more could you ask for?

This place is a very decent choice and worth a try if you are in the historic Lemont downtown. No frills here though with this goin'-for-the "Texasy"could be honky tonk-ish/Kansas City-ish-vibe--handwritten menu taped to the wall and duct tape color coding of your bbq sauce squeeze bottle (duct tape color key duct taped to the kitchen door). Long, plain wood tables and high-top chairs dominate the dining inside with lots of picnic style seating outside. Nice selection of standard (e.g., Shiner) beers with some seasonal on tap served in a small Ball jar. Brisket, pulled pork, burgers all good--a little pricey for the quantity of what you get but good nevertheless (need sturdier, and larger buns to hold the meat--the soft, doughy Jewel hamburger buns aren't a good holder and for $15 just for the no frills sandwich and small plastic cup of slaw there probably is some room there). Tater tots and elote are nice additions but will push your meal up and if you have a beer or soda or two you start to climb up there for a boots-n-jeans style experience. Service is friendly, courteous, and prompt. The place can get a bit loud with all the hard surfaces in this tin-ceilinged what may have been at one time a midwestern working canal-town saloon, so you have to speak up or sit outside if weather permits. TVs with games keep you updated. All in all a no frills but very decent place where you may just make a friend--but be prepared to drop a coupla' bucks. No frills review needed.

Kind of a trendy place, not really my cup of tea, but the service was excellent and so was it the food. I would recommend it.

Consistently the best brisket and pulled pork around hands down. Slaw, tater tots are their best sides. Others I've tried; grn beans, corn bread, banana pudding were weak in my humble opinion. Service at register is inconsistent, slow, unwelcoming at times.... indoor seating could be better and is small. Best to visit on good weather days when good to sit outside.

Went there for the first time about two months back and forgot to do a review. Food was very good as the brisket was tasty and tender, though a little too much fat on it. All sides were on point. The server was friendly and check on us as it was our first time. The place was clean both inside and outside.

Service was great. Location is good. Feels like a bar/BBQ joint. I am always excited to try new BBQ. Especially in Illinois where good BBQ is hard to come by. We got the combo platter. The popper was good. Probably the best thing. The candied pork belly burnt ends were good. The sausage was a weird texture and had no snap to it. It was like finely chopped Italian beef in a casing. Brisket was wrong. Thick cut with no smoke ring or real flavor. Pulled pork and corn bread were probably the most disappointing. No bark and super wet pork. Wish there was more smoke all around. The cornbread just completely crumbled when taken out of the plastic wrapping. So dry. Sauce options were fine. But Texas BBQ doesn't need sauce to mask the flavorlessness of bland meat. Mac and cheese was probably too "spiced" for my kid to order it. It was fine though. Nothing I'm coming back for. Definitely not Texas quality BBQ. Mediocre Illinois BBQ.

This place has the best ribs I've ever eaten, bar none. That includes the long gone Bar S Saloon in Burns, Kansas, and even Beach Ave in Brookfield. The Bar S has always been my standard for ribs and Beach my standard for BBQ in general. Beach is better in other areas, but Matt has everyone beat on ribs. Anyway, these ribs were actually falling off the bone they were so tender, and the quality of the meat was excellent. Not a lot of fat or gristle, meaty, etc. Our sides were good too, I had Mac and cheese and a coke for my beverage. Ambience is nice. It's on the smaller side but most of it is long communal tables and people squeeze is pretty well. They had live music the night I was there. There's a vault inside, so presumably this was a bank at one time. They converted it but retained much of the old detail, which is pretty cool.

Gave them a try for breakfast. They just started serving it this weekend. Hopefully they keep it up. It was the right decision by us. The biscuits and gravy had that right amount of flavor, with delicious shredded brisket sprinkled on top. So flavorful. And the Matt's Muffin tasted good. With some light and perfectly crispy tater tots on the side.

Outdoor dining was very spacious and they delivered food quickly and cooked well. I don't eat red meat but they offered it in the side for friends which was nice. Sun sets there in the summer but if not hot it's great part to sit by

Such friendly service!! We came on a beautiful day to sit out on the patio and enjoy some live music. There weren't any tables so some staff went in the back to grab us one... totally going out of their way on a busy day. Good beer and liquor selection and obviously have to make a special note of the BBQ! I want to try everything on the menu. They sell their own sauces, too.

Stopped into Matt's for their Sunday Breakfast and they did not disappoint. Not even surprised that the food was amazing. Had the Briskets and Gravy and it was by far the best I have ever had. Definitely headed back next week so I can try more of the amazing menu items.

The quality of the meat is excellent. The sauces are very good. Don't wait too long to order as some items run out later in the day.

Giving a new barbecue joint a shot here. Ya'll know how much I adore my briskets. First hiccup - no Dr. Pepper! I mean, c'mon, you've got the great state of Texas as your logo, yet you neglect to serve the state's beloved drink? The brisket was alright, but when I ask for lean, I expect it to be served lean. On the bright side, the macaroni and cheese was tasty. However, the elotes were a letdown. It had this peculiar flavor that just didn't hit the spot. And don't even get me started on the coleslaw - not my cup of tea. The sauces were decent, but I firmly believe it's a mortal sin to douse a good brisket with any sauce. All in all, I did like the overall atmosphere. So far this misplaced Texas gal still prefers Station One Smokehouse. Side notes it was myself and my 2 sons that ate here.

After coming here a few times, it's always the same. You're paying a lot for small, cold portions. The brisket is 15 dollars and tonight I got two pieces. It was barely room temperature, and the second piece was cut straight off the fat cap. And the thing is, the cook is pretty good. The brisket and pork (from a past visit) are tender with a balanced smoky flavor. You pay a premium for small, cold portions. And that's been the same story after numerous visits.

Amazing food. We tried the sample platter and full slab of ribs. The signature cocktail "Salty Dog" was great! The weather was perfect, we sat in the patio. We will definitely come back.

My goodness, this place has AWESOME food! I was blown away to find this unexpected treasure so close to home. This is genuine Texas BBQ. I've been to legendary BBQs there and Matt's food is as good as the best I've had in TX. The brisket has perfect smoky flavor and texture. good as it gets anywhere. The pulled pork is juicy and flavorful. The burnt ends are in a league of their own and incredibly meaty. The sausage has the right amount of heat. I can't wait to go back!

Finding good bbq in the midwest suburbs has been difficult. Rarely do you find a spot and say damn that's good. Matt's barbecue is that good. Everything was made fresh. Meat was super tender. The brisket fell apart it was so tender. The ribs were seasoned to perfection. The honey bbq sauce was outstanding. Highly recommend Matt's for that bbq craving.

went to Matts BBq today. I have to say the food was awesome. I had ribs with a side of potato salad and mexican street corn. i loved everything. The Hostess Trenene recommended the pecan pie for desert and it was the best I've ever had. My wife had pulled pork sandwich and a side of mac and cheese with corn bread which she loved as well. we will be back. special shout out to Trenene who went over board to make us feel welcome.

Took my daughter and grandkids to Matt's for the first time and could not have been more pleased.We actually told the staff who were wonderful that it was the best barbecue we've ever had We tried burnt ends...excellent also pulled chicken, beef brisket wonderful excellent Mac and cheese and potato salad. All meat selections were the juiciest I've ever tried and banana pudding for dessert. They also have mixed drinks and great beer selection. I would recommend to all

Amazing!!! Since they opened I've tried almost everything on the menu. Great ribs, and my go-to is the pulled pork sandwich. I love all of the different sauces. For sides I love the slaw and the super unique potato salad with lots of fresh dill. I also enjoy the texas twinkies - jalapeno popper wrapped in bacon. Just stopped in for a grilled/smoked grouper sandwich for lunch yesterday (Fridays during lent) and OMG it was melt in your mouth delicious with a fantastic homemade tartar sauce. I will definitely be back for that also! Love a family owned business in a great little town like Lemont! Thanks Matt & crew!

We came on a very hot day, so we couldn't take advantage of sitting in their cute outdoor patio area. We had a full slab of ribs which came with coleslaw and rolls, brisket and the elotes. I really wanted to try the big beef rib, but I didn't realize it was only available on Sundays. The ribs are smoky and tender, but also slathered in bbq sauce. The brisket was very good and super soft. I didn't really like the elotes since the corn kernels were super soggy. I'd pass on that. I'll be back to try some other things on the menu. Definitely a decent bbq spot!

Went here on a Friday evening after work. Extremely friendly and nice staff. Food is served fresh, hot and quick. But how does it taste? Well I ordered the special sausage of the month. Bratwurst I've never had one smoked at a place like this. Typically it's just some sort of pork sausage. This was very tasty actually my favorite thing. Add a bit of there house honey bbq sauce and you got some deliciousness going on. The brisket talk was tasty. The cole slaw was not too my liking it was just ok. I personally like a little more creaminess to mine. And finally the pull pork slider. It was pretty good better with sauce. It comes in a sandwich or a slider which I presume is the smaller version. But it was packing a lot of meat. Very filling for a slider. Overall I will come back again and if you in the area you should stop by as well.

Saw this place on the news. Had the sampler platter today The green beans were the only thing that was ok $70 save your money

If you are looking for Texas barbecue, look no further. The pulled pork was moist with the perfect amount of smoke. The sauces had a robust flavor and we couldn't decide on which one we liked the most. The Mac and Cheese was down home comfort food in a bowl. The staff were incredibly friendly which enhanced the experience even more. If we are ever back in the Chicago area, this will be an absolute must on our list.

Came in on a Saturday. Smart idea with no servers to save money. Service wasn't horrible in light of that. Ordered the brisket slider, burnt rib ends, Mac and cornbread. Corn bread was horrible, BEYOND dry. Mac and cheese tasted like straight flour and wasn't good. Would definitely order the brisket slider or burnt ends again. They were both fantastic. I do wish they had a turkey option. There are other options in the area for BBQ that are better so I don't know if I would come back.

Went there on a cruise night. Ordered Burnt ends and slaw, plain, and no bread. Wasn't looking when he dripped it at the table, and it was covered in BBQ sauce. Plain means no sauce. And Im allergic to it. 3-4 days in agony if I ate it. My daughter actually volunteered to bring it back inside to replace it. Was told thats the only way they serve it, and nothimg can be done. This was the dude in the cowboy hat. If thats the only way you make it, why take my$15 when i order it plain?? Just left it on the table and left.

Pork and brisket were fantastic! The service was amazing. It's so fun and inviting looking. 10/10 would recommend.

This place deserves 5 stars... BEST real smoked barbecue in Illinois. My boyfriend and I are bbq connoisseurs and we think this place is number one. Brisket and pecan pie is top tier.
