Matt's Big Breakfast

We had a long layover and needed a good meal to tide us over. Decided to give this place a try, and it was a winner! My wife had a Reuben sandwich and I had the turkey club. Both sandwiches were really good! The homemade chips were good as well, definitely recommend. We HAVE to shout out the cook, Kevin. These guys behind the scenes get overlooked and we had to give him some Kudos for a great meal!

So, first I want to say that my server had a fun personality. He was kind. I was seated quickly which is a plus. The coffee was okay—-i wouldn’t get a second cup. I had to get my own silverware because my server forgot. But I went to the bar and was immediately given utensils. The food….. someone really likes pepper HAHA Good Lawd it was a lot of pepper. I do not like pepper but I ate it. The bacon was good with good portion size BUT peppery. The sourdough toast was good. The potatoes were okay but a little greasy. The jam was more of a thin consistency BUT it was delicious. If they hold back on shaking the pepper so much I would go back! It was also reasonably priced.

I ordered to-go because I love Matt's Downtown - but this location SUCKS. The staff member who took my order was nice! But downhill after that. I ordered the Hog and Chick! No toast was provided with my order. When I realized it was missing, I went to the counter and the staff member was like "what toast" when it's clearly marked on the menu. When I was eating my eats after leaving the to-go area, THE WAS A BLONDE HAIR IN MY FOOD! I am not a blonde. $25 down the drain. So gross. Avoid this location.

One of the only options when passing through PHX for breakfast early in the morning. I got the waffle and bacon option and substituted eggs instead of bacon. They were understaffed and very busy, there was one very snarky waiter, who was super rude to the only other waitress on the floor. And it took them a while to get my order out even though the place wasn’t even full. I’m sure it’s because they were understaffed. They did do the eggs properly and the waffle came with real maple syrup so that is amazing! Only pasteurized juice options.

I realize airport dining can be a different experience, but this was “Matt’s big bacon Bloody Mary” with “all the trimmings and a bacon salt rim” $40 of drinks pictured. The food was alright. the sausage in the omelette was cold—maybe frozen? Which is surprising from a location that emphasizes quality fresh ingredients in their marketing.

On my layover through PHX today, I stopped in and ate at Matt's Big Breakfast. They serve all-day breakfast and some good sandwiches. It's probably been over 5 years since I've been at this spot. I went ahead and ordered the BLT with sliced avocado and a Pepsi. Service was good, good was good and atmosphere was good. I would come back. Thanks 😊

This place is perfectly named. You can get a big breakfast (or a small one) and it was quick, easy, and delicious. I ordered The Hog and Chick. The bacon was thick cut, and great, the toast was also thick cut, and a nice heavyweight bread, the potatoes were clearly made just before they arrived at my plate, and of course the scrambled eggs were exactly what you'd expect!

I have a 3.5 hour layover and I was hungry from getting up at 3 am for my first flight and no time to grab something. I saw this place and saw the food people were getting and thought it looked good. I sat at the bar and received my menu fairly quick I decided to splurge a little and start with a mimosa. It was good. I ordered the Hog & Chick with the bacon. .Eggs were cooked just right, the toast was thick as was the bacon. The potatoes were very nice with fresh rosemary. This is definitely made fresh. If I'm back here in the morning again I will definitely stop back in.

If healthier cooking oils and farm-to-table dining are what you're after, Matt's Big Breakfast is the place for you! Anytime I fly through the Phoenix airport, I find my way to Matt's. The service has always been great, and the steak and eggs is some of the best I've come across. Very tender steak, and the portions are very generous. Thank you Matt's for providing us a delicious escape from seed oils!

This was an incredible and unexpected airport diner. Maybe the best airport breakfast I have ever experienced.. seated quickly, waitress was sweet, food was excellent. Place was busy but open space. I'd highly recommend if u have a layover and u need breakfast. A+

It's an airport restaurant. I work at the airport and understand it's busy, but it's always sub par. The food portions are small and overpriced. Wait staff are almost always overworked and quite "over it" If you get the steak, order it Rare, otherwise it's going to be jerky. Even then, it still might be This place is making money for sure, but it shouldn't be.

Located at Sky Harbor Airport, Matt's is a great place for quick pre-flight drink or meal. Service is fast and pleasurable. Accessible seating.

Long waits even at the To Go counter but I had the time. Got the waffle and bacon. Waffle has good flavor. Kind of soft but likely steamed a little in the to go box. Also, found something unidentifiable but crunchy in a couple of bites. Egg shell maybe? Real maple syrup is a huge plus. Bacon has good flavor but no crisp. Most disappointing of all...I ordered a side egg and never got it but it was too late to go back for it.

Close your outpost if you cannot offer food and drinks in-line with your prices. Our custsomer service was horrible and the server was angry, brought our order, dropped the ticket and disappeared. Paid cash because we couldn't flag anyone down. Only half full with multiple servers. Emailed customer service and never heard a word back and now, after reading the reviews, all is clear.

We love their food and service so much we asked if they would do us a favor and our son's Wedding and they agreed. Matt's Big Breakfast absolutely exceeded our expectations. The food was phenomenal from start to finish--crispy, perfectly cooked bacon, fluffy pancakes, and golden waffles that were rich, comforting, and done just right. The strawberry preserves paired beautifully with the warm sourdough toast, adding that perfect touch of sweetness and homemade flavor that sets a great breakfast apart. What truly made this experience unforgettable, though, was the customer service. A huge shout-out to Ernie and her incredible team, who went above and beyond while preparing an exceptional catered meal for our son's wedding. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care made the entire process seamless and stress free, with the additional service when food was delivered and esured the setup of food was perfect and ready to serve. Ernie and team went way above our expectations and we received many compliments on the dinner/breakfast served through out the night. Thank you Ernie/Matt's Big Breakfast

The food here was QUITE GOOD! Like, a good breakfast-- not a good airport breakfast but a genuine good breakfast! The upgrade to the ham steak was FAB! Eggs were perfect. Toast was super-tasty! The only thing that wasn't great was the service - slow to get a server, a little effort to pay. And they mostly want to cram you into high top shared seating but I get it-- they want to maximize the customers they can fit into their place. But the food was GREAT!!

This is the spot for a really delicious & fancy drink after a night long red eye or before take off. We also grabbed some grub to go as this places can be really busy. I like the spinach egg white omelette best. Kiddo likes his waffles & sausage. They have sit down, take out, and a bar. The service can be slow during high peak times and the ladies do a terrific job with the amount of people packed into the place. During high peak times expect long wait times this is the main eatery for this wing at the terminal.

Bartender Amber was a sweetheart! So attentive, gave options, and communicated fantastic realistic time lines. Great stop for a bite while waiting for my flight!

This is a good airport breakfast for sure. Busy, busy but friendly service, was seated quickly and had my drink fast. Bloody Marie was good and the breakfast was yummy. Had the Matt,s big breakfast. I'll go back for sure

We have a two hour layover do we decided to eat breakfast at Matt's. I ordered the skinny breakfast, which is egg whites with Chicken apple sausage and spinach and a side salad. It tasted amazing . The portion was right, not too little and not too much food. The restaurant gets busy but the service is fast.

Located in terminal 4 of Sky Harbor near hate B5. They always seem to have a line waiting to be seated but are fairly efficient at clearing tables. Clean and casual. They have a take out counter, but it's not quick. Ordered a breakfast burrito between flights and it still took over 15 minutes to get it. Burrito was $19. Expensive but accurate for an airport. It was good tasting and filling. Staff weren't rude but not friendly either. Seemed a bit over worked.

Pricey but worth it. Everything we had was delicious and the service was quick and friendly.

The place was packed and the line was long. They moved everyone through very quickly. You sit at the table across from others in the restaurant, which was pretty unique. The food came out nice and hot and quickly. Waffle had a nice texture, slight crisp on the edges but more thick and cakey than I like vs light and fluffy.

Caught in a long delay and posted up in the Admirals Lounge, I needed something solid before my flight home--8 hours late. I made the right call stopping at Matt's. I ordered the BLT, and let me tell you--it hit the spot. Extra crispy bacon stacked thick, served on buttery Texas toast with fresh lettuce, juicy tomato, and just the right amount of mayo. Simple, classic, and done exactly right. No frills, just a damn good sandwich when I needed it most. If you're stuck at Sky Harbor and want a real meal, skip the fast food and hit Matt's. They know how to make a sandwich that stands up to a long night.

Located in the airport. Food looks great, smells good, but just looking to enjoy a beer during a lay over, before leaving back home. The bartender, whom ever she is, really sucks. I asked for one beer and her response was "Sure, but I have all these customers." Two other gentlemen sat down at the bar shortly after and she immediately tended to their drink order. Mr. Owner, I fear you have an employee who is mad at the world for some reason. When I come back through, I will make sure NOT to stop in and continue to give bad reviews. The bar tender gave your business a "black eye" today and a negative rating...

Food was not good we had the big breakfast sauce was bad potato's were dough. Eggs were ok with Tabasco salt n pepper. But Ice tea was good

No need to worry about getting hungry if you're on a long flight with the offerings here. The place gets very busy at all hours of the day so account for that if you plan to have breakfast here before boarding. The bloodys are massive and full of flavor as well as their breakfast sandwich with potatoes. Kept me full enough on my 4 hour flight to skip the inflight snack when in the air. Placed seemed to be a little short staffed but did not impact our service, however did have a slightly longer wait to get seated than normal. Not sure if it compares to the other Matt's in town as I've never been to one but this is an excellent preflight breakfast option at terminal 4.

Great airport breakfast! The pancakes were pretty dang good. The burrito was good, mostly potato inside rather than egg and sausage.

Eggs made from real eggs! You get to order from an actual human server, not a stupid tabletop QR code that makes you pick a tip amount before you know if you will actually get your food (grrrrr)! Real (I think ) maple syrup -- not flavored corn syrup -- on my waffle! And finally: nice music!. Maybe heavy or alternative-ey for some. But it's not the "woman sings/whines/yodels, sort of in tune, with marbles in mouth" sound that i am unfortunately hearing more of . Totally blew my low-carb diet,but right now I'm pretty pleased.

Just boarded my flight to JFK and still sipping on the coffee I purchased from this MBB location in the B gate area... I am looking back at my review from 9 years ago and seeing that I had a similar experience then as I did today, and ordered pretty much the same meal! This time my Sonrisa Burrito was made to order with egg whites and no potatoes and it came with salsa on the side. Just like last time, it was delicious! I can't speak to the sit down service, but the to-go is busy and not the friendliest, but very efficient. My food was ready earlier than the expected 10-15 minutes I was quoted. They have basic coffee in the menu with only a whole milk option and it's a limited menu, but everything on it is done well and clearly consistent. You will pay a price though- with tip, my burrito, coffee and bottle of water added up to $37! Whether this airport location or others in the Valley, you can't go wrong with fueling up at Matt's!

During my last trip out to New York, I had a layover at PHX Airport for both my outbound and inbound flights. Since each of the layovers were for a couple of hours, I walked over to the B concourse to eat here. Both times, I got their steak & eggs with sourdough toast and coffee. What can I say? I'm a creature of habit. Service was good. Coincidentally, I had the same waitress both times. Since breakfast food is my favorite and you can get it even for dinner, this will be my go to spot whenever I'm at the PHX Airport.

First time here at the airport. They were open later than expected for a place with brunch so that was a pleasant surprise. Matt's Bloody Mary was supposed to be the special - but the mix wasn't that great. The toppings were pretty basic. Like pre-made, and dried out? I don't know how else to Explain it. Potatoes were the best thing, with rosemary.

We had some time before our flight left so we decided to sit down and eat breakfast. There was a line to get a table but it only took about 10 minutes to get our party of 4 to be seated. Given how many people were there eating, I expected good food. I ordered the "skinny" breakfast which sounded good on the menu but was in fact pretty awful. It was served with a salad and vinaigrette, which is not something I would like for breakfast but I decided to try it. I took about 3 bites and left the rest uneaten. My brother got a different meal (though I can't remember what it was now) and he left most of his uneaten as well. Of course, airport restaurants are expected to be pricier but with the quality of the food being so pour, it was about $85 wasted other than a few cups of coffee. I won't be returning to this restaurant.

Despite the name, Matt's Big Breakfast at the airport has lunch and dinner too. On my most recent visit I got the Mamacita, topped with slices of bacon and gooey cheese. It's airport pricing to be sure at about $20, but a respectable burger with a hearty side of steak fries. I was a little worried those big potato slabs would be soft and squishy, but they were fried perfectly. The BLT is also very good - it's slightly less pricey than the burger and comes with skinnier fries. Good selection of draft beer and a full bar. Friendly and efficient bartender. I haven't actually tried the breakfast, LOL

Awesome Rueben! The marble rye bread was absolutely delicious! And really the best way to make a Rueben. Very authentic! And our server, Heather, was terrific! She's on top of her game and gave us great service with a smile & super, positive attitude. Thanks, Heather! Give that girl a raise!

Be prepared to wait to be seated. Then be ignored.... Eggs were good. Bacon looked good but was a s tough as jerky. Toast was so so dry. Getting a coffee refill was like a nightmare. Good luck. I'd suggest a different place all together.

This was really good airport food. The service was friendly, the portions were good and served hot.

Service is always slow here. Today my husband told our waitress, Vanessa, that he didn't want the flour tortilla due to a food allergy. His food came served on top of the flour tortilla. The fix was putting the now contaminated food on a clean plate without the tortilla. With no apologies.

Unfortunately not a great experience, out of 3 meals - one was ok , not gonna go into many details .... all I'll say is more than one hair in our food , service was good all else = blah !

I recently had breakfast at this place after a long red eye flight. Arrived not long after they opened and there were maybe 10-12 people seated, mostly sitting at the bar. I was barked at to sit at the bar if I wanted timely service. Coffee was lukewarm and watered down. I had to ask for cream and sugar. I ordered one of the scrambled egg options - received greasy and rubbery scrambled eggs that looked like leftovers from the previous day that had been reheated. There was at most one egg (menu stated three eggs). The potatoes were brown and soggy. The food was clearly not freshly cooked and barely edible. Possibly the worst food I've had at a restaurant. The service was quick, but not up to basic US standards. No one asked if the food was ok, if I wanted a refill of coffee, etc. Clearly the staff does not care. Overall, this place is not only a rip-off, but a potential health hazard. Not sure how this place has any reviews above 2-3 stars. After reading all of the 1-2 star reviews with many people voicing the same concerns, I'm actually shocked that this place is still in business. Avoid avoid avoid.

Butter burger was awesome. The best I've tasted. Our server was awesome and the order arrived fast. Crowded but probably because the food is that good! Nice atmosphere.

Quick service and reasonable prices considering it's in the airport. The food was good and the coffee was nice and strong. Love that the pancakes were so huge. Only issue is that there was way too much salad for the egg platter.

This location of Matt's Big Breakfast is in terminal 4, next to gate B5 of Phoenix airport. While waiting for my flight out, I decided to get a breakfast burrito to go (Sonrisa Burrito, $11). The wait was exorbitant - I think around 30 minutes standing and waiting. While it was a good size, I wasn't a big fan of the textures inside the burrito nor flavor profile of the provided hot sauce. I'd try one of their other locations, but next time I'm in the airport I'll go for something pre-made or the standard fast food players.

Great portions and well prepared, but very packed with travers , on A concourse. So service isnt slow just overwelmed

For a busy travel day, we were able to get seated right away. The food, although....as expected for airport fare was definitely "greasy". Also. I asked for the egg in my sandwich to be scrambled and it was brought over easy, hard cooked. And out waitress was very unapologetic about it too!! You have choices at the phoenix airport so look around, if you have time for something better!!

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the experience my family and I had at your restaurant on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Unfortunately, our visit led to us missing our flight and incurring significant inconvenience. We placed our order right away, but had to wait over 35 -40 minutes for our meals. To make matters worse, the two tables seated next to us arrived after us and received their orders long before ours. When our food was finally brought out, three out of the four meals were served. I waited an additional 10 minutes for my steak and eggs meal, which never arrived. At that point, I had no choice but to cancel my meal as we needed to leave to catch our flight. My family rushed to eat the meals that had arrived and did not get to enjoy them. The issues did not end with the food and service. The volume of the radio/music playing in the restaurant was uncomfortably loud, making it difficult for customers/us to hear important flight change announcements over the speaker. After leaving to catch our flight, we learned that our flight had been switched to a different gate. By the time we arrived at the new gate (B18), the flight had already departed.This added another layer of frustration to an already disheartening experience. The combination of poor service, long wait times, and the noisy atmosphere directly led to us missing our flight. This caused significant financial loss, along with a great deal of stress for my family. I urge you to reconsider the way your restaurant operates, particularly with regard to meal preparation times and the volume of music. Customers should not have to choose between enjoying their meal and hearing important announcements. Additionally, it is essential to ensure that your staff is trained to handle customer orders in a more timely and efficient manner. I hope this feedback will be taken seriously so that future customers do not face similar issues. * The waitress, Danyelle, also got one of orders incorrect and did not fix, she never came by the table to offer refills, did not apologize for the horrible service, and we did not receive any sort of discount for the significant inconvenience. ​

After 17 days of international travel it was very refreshing to have healthy options to choose from on the menu. Thanks to Melinda for extending excellent service and adding options that made our visit even better. The coffee was a little pedestrian or I'd have given 5 stars.

Taking my weekly flight out and didn't have time to grab something at the house, so forced to eat at the airport. First of all the service was great, sat at the bar and my tea glass was never empty. Really nice lady. Ordered a Reuben which is highlighted on the menu. The food came out hot and tasty, but there was only two thin slices of pastrami on two huge slices of bread. Pretty disappoint, especially as a signature dish for $34. Must be a rationing going on for Pastrami. If I'd known I would opted for a burger or the turkey sandwich the guy next to me ate that had an inch thick of turkey on it. I mean, overall not the worst meal I ever had, just won't be getting the wallpaper thin pastrami Reuben again.

While wait staff was great, treated us well and seemed to be attentive as much as they could, there was only one server or at least that's what I saw, and she was all over the place with a full restaurant. Food tasted good but was cold. We got the grilled cheese sandwich with the tomato soup and both the grilled cheese and soup were cold. You could tell it was good soup but the fact that it was cold basically made it not desirable. Unfortunately this was the only open area in this terminal so we had no other choice

I waited a long time to even get seated although there were lots of employees walking around. When I did get seated no one ever came to the table. After about 10 minutes, I left. I went down to OSHO brewery and had a great breakfast sandwich.

Food was mid at best. The server gave us one menu, never brought water, and never came back for our drink orders. About 30 minutes into our meal, After trying to flag our waitress down for 10+ mins, I went to the bar and ordered 2 waters and a Bloody Mary (full price) and then was not told that there was no bacon until I after I paid. The waiter treated me like I was stupid and tried to make analogies for why I don't deserve a partial refund for the drink. They eventually brought bacon, but the quality was terrible and it tasted like chewy rubber. The bartender was incredibly unwarently rude to my friend and I, talking down to us or at times not responding at all. The bartender and server demanded to see our IDs multiple times and were angry with us for ordering from the bar (and not our server) even though we explained we had to because we needed water and never had our drink orders taken. My friend went up to get her drinks, ordered two shots of Tito's and a vodka soda, and got charged $39 for all (which is a lot in my option) just to take the shots and realize they were not even Tito's! Super terrible service, super rude people, bad drinks, bad food. Please don't waste your money here we left feeling awful and with a really bad taste in our mouth

Great service. Had a long wait due to delayed flight. Sat at the bar. The manager was really funny, kept us all engaged with his jokes. Ordered two burgers, with fried egg. Didn't see it as an option on the menu, but they made it happen. I am very particular about my egg- I want the yolk to be runny. I jokingly threatened to send it back if it was overdone (which maybe wasn't a joke?) but it came out perfect so I didn't have to even think about it. You can see parts of the kitchen from the bar. They're working hard back there. Fries are good. Def sub for them. Butter burger isn't anything special. Without the egg, I probably would have doused it in ketchup. Good size patty though. Love supporting local and I'm glad this place is here at the airport. Crazy they shut down so early but glad we got to eat and hangout there before they did.

What a fricking joke 2 of us standing in line FOREVER only to have them pull a party of 3 from behind us. My advice? Don't give these clowns a penny of your money. Sky Harbor airport simply sucks on every level!! Between the airlines changing gates with only minutes to get from one terminal to the other to the very few places to get something g to eat.... If you don't mind spending $25 on a shitty wrap at the "grab and go"this is the place for you

I wish I could give this place a higher rating as some businesses do live or die by reviews, however, my experience here really left something to be desired. I had about 50 minutes before my flight boarded at the B gate and I thought that would be enough time to grab a quick lunch. I ordered a beer and to be safe, ordered my burger to go, just in case. The beer came with no problem and then I waited, and waited and waited... Finally the waitress/bartender checked on my meal about 40 min later, and seems the kitchen never received the order. Waitress was nice enough about it, and I didn't make a fuss really. She asked if I wanted a sandwich to go from their take out counter and I declined. I'm giving this place 2 stars because the waitress was nice and really tried her best. I paid for my $13 beer and didn't leave a tip. To be honest, I think the beer could have been on the house, given what happened. I didn't have any lunch in my belly and can tell you, I had a drive from where I landed, so made for a not so great afternoon experience. I don't know what to say anymore and really have no expectations when it comes to hospitality, everything these days just seems to have taken a nose dive, it's this new normal I am learning to live with. Good help is hard to find. Exceptional service just seems quite rare these days.

Matt's Big Disappointment is more like it. What Mimosa you know has ice? Other tables who sat after us got their food while we waited. Food came out half bland/half cooked. Pancakes were a total disaster. No go.
