First time customer today. Cute little local spot with indoor and outdoor seating. I got my order to-go, as the place was mostly occupied and I didn’t want to take up a 4-top table with it being only myself dining. My double cheeseburger was absolutely delicious (I let out a gluttonous “Mmmmm” as I sank into my first bite 😂)… juicy, fresh ingredients, not overly complicated. Really special American cheese too, I might add! — BUT — the customer service is what really sealed the deal that I’ll be coming back and also recommending to my friends. It seems like at most places these days, the essence of what customer service means has been lost and even some restaurants with the best food, I’ll never return to because I didn’t feel valued— let alone even given basic courtesy/respect by the employees who can’t be bothered..Not the case here! Given today is a federal holiday, I called ahead to make sure they were open. The lady who answered the phone couldn’t have been more sweet & helpful. When I arrived and walked in, I recognized the lovely woman at the counter who greeted me was who I spoke to on the phone. I told her I was a first time visitor and she was happy to hand me a menu and explain what they all offered, including their coleslaw that’s made in-house (which I plan to try it next time! today I was just craving some juicy, quality meat lol). My order came out quick, and I enjoyed from my car. I went back in after first bite to request ketchup (I forget that not all places is ketchup standard), and the lady looked concerned & attentive rather than annoyed upon seeing me walk back in the door..means a lot these days! I wish I’d gotten her name to give her a well deserved public accolade, but shoutout to Matt’s Burger’s in Summerville for a refreshing and delicious local experience! 🫶🏼

We decided to try Matt's burgers in Summerville, we were in the mood for a good burger and Boy did we get that and more. We had the Sausage and beef burger and the bacon burger along with a large fry to share their prices were reasonable and the quality of the food was outstanding. The burgers were cooked to perfection juicy and delicious. The fries were crispy on the outside and tender inside. A job well done. The place is small but very quaint .the staff were extremely helpful and friendly along with being attentive. For those who like outside dining they offer a very cute patio area with a few tables as well. So if you get the chance check it out you won't be sorry you did.

Matt’s Burgers is a hidden gem! The food is fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. The burgers are juicy, the portions are generous, and everything tastes homemade. The first time I will eat a burger that really tastes homely. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and they make you feel right at home. If you’re looking for a spot with great service and amazing burgers, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend with love.

Incredible. This hole in the wall is like a time capsule. Old school classic burger joint. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Fries were cooked and seasoned to perfection. I ant believe I've been missing this place for so long and cannot recommend it any higher. The staff was also great! 10/10. They have earned a new regular.

Hole in the wall place so go early or late! Lunch rush will be hard to get a table. Food is delicious. I had the Matt’s Special which I felt very guilty eating. Was so good I could have ordered another one.

Great hole in the wall with comfort food so tasty - it'll make you wanna slap yo Mama! Place is cozy, clean and busy. Service was good especially since they're short handed - they're hiring servers if you're in the area and need work! The 2 ladies working the place were very friendly and helpful, even though they were very busy tending to everything. Oh, they also give a 4% discount for cash. Bring a small business owner myself, I understand and appreciate that. Everything was very tasty and comforting just like a greasy spoon should be. Would definitely head back and mention to people headed out this way. We're from Reno, NV so not sure if we'll make it back this trip, but who knows, right? If you're a local I would ask why you haven't made this spot your go to?!?! There were 2 or 3 parties of people who were there that the server knew and greeted as regulars. That means a lot in my book. If I was here extendedly or lived here this would definitely be a weekly spot for me. It was also very affordable for most places in today's economy. Took my daughter to this location for a daddy daughter date. When we walk in the young lady seed it was very quick to get our drink order. I got the hamburger steak with fries while my daughter got the cheeseburger with fries. Both were very delicious and left us holding our bellies.

A customer is a customer no matter how small, you never know who's listening to how you treat your customers. When you are already paying too much for a burger and then an order of fries are overcooked, oily and overpriced. If a customer asks for them to be taken off the bill because they are inedible and you don't offer to remake them you shouldn't treat them rudely if you want to keep customers coming back.

This was such a great find! I love a good hamburger and I thought Matt's really delivered on their overall price and quality. The best part about the food was that it all came out HOT. I thought the burger itself was delicious with good beef and not greasy. The tots were good (I am a bit picky when it comes to sweet potato fries) so I would probably order the regular fries next time. The service and waitresses were so nice and helpful! It made the ambiance just feel at "home". If you are a burger lover for a good deal and quality, check this spot out!

Stopped in with two of my kids, we were VERY hungry. I had a burger, my son had a kids burger and fries, my daughter had burger with fries. Fries were good, a touch thicker than shoestring fries and tasted a lot like McDonald's fries, which is a compliment. The burgers were smashed with a crispy outside. Very basic presentation and honestly I liked it a lot and so did my kids. And the price may be the least expensive burger in the Charleston area that isn't from a franchise. Servers were fast and responsive, place was packed so the food was a touch slow to come out, but all is forgiven for a burger that I liked this much. I can't stand fancy, gourmet burgers, this is exactly what I like, a great basic burger with character, flavor, and not too greasy or gross. I don't come to Summerville too much but this is a good stop when in the area. J.Ja

This place just gets it--simple, delicious, and friendly. It doesn't have a lot of seating and stays busy, but it's worth the wait. The burgers are amazing, and the fries are just as good. You won't find a cheaper burger, especially not at this quality. It's a small, cozy storefront with friendly local staff. An absolute hidden gem.

I came in for lunch on Saturday and while it was decently crowded, I was able to get seated right away. Definitely a smaller restaurant, but the signs and decor is homey. All the staff was incredibly friendly and service was fairly quick. I got the cheeseburger and a side of sweet potato tater tots dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugar. The cheeseburger was delicious - well-seasoned and balanced with the pickles, lettuce, tomato, and mustard. When the tots came out, they were definitely on the crispy, almost burnt side, but my server told me to see if I liked them and if not, they would get a new batch made for me. They were actually crispy and fluffy inside, despite the darker color, and the cinnamon and powdered sugar added the perfect touch. I love how friendly everyone was and food was good, especially for the price. Definitely coming back whenever I'm craving a burger!

It's been easily 10 years since my last meal at Matt's and I was hoping it would live up to my memories when I returned the day after this Christmas. It most definitely did. I ordered the signature Sausage Cheeseburger with a side of Spanish Fries. The burger was cooked well with melty cheese and cold, crisp toppings. The fries themselves were perfectly OK, but the fried onions and jalapeños on top that make them "Spanish Fries" help improve the flavor and texture, as the onions are jammy and sweet. The few bites I had of my wife's Frito Pie were fantastic too. As other reviewers have mentioned, the service is much better than you'd expect from a neighborhood burger joint. Everyone is friendly and attentive, keeping your drinks topped up and making sure everything is to your liking. The location is definitely cozy with maybe a dozen tables inside and a couple tables out front.

The Spanish fries were extremely overcooked, the jalapeño peppers and fried onions were black and dried. The mushrooms burger and cheese burger were good. Our server was pleasant. Food came out over a long period of time! This is a small restaurant.

The servers were very friendly however the food was not good. Cold and so much salt it was inedible. Made me think there was an accident with the salt even like it spilled on the food or person cooking accidentally went too heavy with it. We wanted to like this place, but unfortunately will not be back.

Terrible quality and HORRIBLE customer service! Trashy and classless...the sort of place that makes you worried they'll spit in your food if you have the audacity to point out a mistake. AVOID THIS PLACE!! As a first-time customer, I asked the waitress/cash register attendant about their chicken sandwich. I was told there would be a substantial amount of food, and -- specifically -- that the sandwich would include three (3) chicken tenders. 15 minutes (and $11.89) later, I received a pathetically small sandwich on toasted white bread (not even a bun!) containing just two (2) tiny, gnarled fried chicken tenders. When I brought this laughably bad sandwich to the same staff member's attention, she instantly adopted an awful, unprofessional attitude -- as soon as she walked back into the kitchen, I saw her angrily and aggressively give me the "up yours" middle finger while mouthing the words "F*ck you!!" I immediately demanded a refund & left. If you want to confirm all the worst stereotypes about dive bars and low-end burger joints, pop into Matt's Burgers. Otherwise, stay far, FAR away!

This place. Wow. Small, quaint, but feels like home. Barry (hope I'm spelling this correctly) was our server and she was so so sweet and we really enjoyed our conversations with her. The food was amazing! This is not fancy dining--this is food you would get at your family cookout, but dare I say better! The chili was my favorite and we WILL be back for more of that especially with cooler temps on the horizon. Happy to say we have found our burger spot.

Not bad. Had the fried chicken salad. It was enjoyable. Was kinda cramped inside, not much room. Food took a while to come.

Asked someone where was good for lunch and they swore by Matt's Burgers. They did NOT disappoint. Burger was so good. The fries had a good seasoning. Cute patio area too that was dog friendly.

Working out in the yard we decided to do a quick evening take out order for dinner. I didn't want to head all the way to 5 guys and also would rather support small businesses. We ordered three burger meals and two kids tender baskets. The kids baskets looked like a raccoon got into the chicken tender stock pile and whoever put together the basket was like, oh well. It looked so sad. The fries were cold and chewy. Burgers were ok. Sad to see them go down the toilet.

I've heard such great things about this place from Lowcountry Eat out! So when I heard my husband had a job out that way I asked him to pick us up takeout for dinner. We live in West Ashley and he has a hike between the distance and the traffic! I opted for the bacon burger he got the Matt's special burger pic not shown. :/ with fries We both dug in right away, and though they were both just warm to touch from the drive, they were everything I hoped they'd be! Man I wish we had a burger place like this close to us! These were amazing smash burgers, great quality, bursting with flavors and the prices were incredible with the inflation kicking our doors down all around us. I can't wait to go there "in person" and try out other items! YUM!

Burgers were excellent. My friend ordered the mushroom burger on Texas toast and loved it. I liked my big cheeseburger. Fast service and very polite.

First time trying Matt's Burgers... A local favorite for burgers, dogs and fries. Place was packed at 1:30 on a Saturday. We got takeout. The Sausage Burger was excellent. The chili cheese dog was tasty but don't plan to pick it up with your hands. It looked like it exploded in the box but again... very tasty. Fries are good, could use more crisp. Will definitely hit Matt's again for some burgers and dogs. Absolutely worth a try.

Very small family owned place in downtown Summerville. Had higher expectations for the quality with the ratings they had online. The burger itself was pretty decent, chili cheese fries were the best part and sadly my "Spanish onions and peppers" were extremely over cooked and burnt. I couldn't believe they even let that come out of the kitchen. I'm all for some caramelized onions and veggies but that is not just "charred." Thankfully our server was very nice and accommodating and got them taken off our bill. I probably won't return even with their lower prices, with so many better quality burger joints around.

I love this little place. It's small inside so don't come during the lunch rush. The burgers are great. I got the side of okra and they were perfect! I highly recommend them with the seasoning.

Located in downtown Summerville, this place gets a 10/10! It's a very cute little dine in place with a variety of options of food to choose from. They are known for their burgers but today I opted for their chicken sandwich with fries. Chicken sandwiches can be a hit or miss and half the time it's a miss but this one was so good! The bread was coated and very crisp. The chicken was tender and extremely flavorful. Overall, all the flavors came together so well. The fries were also amazing. Not too salty! My friend got a BLT (picture not included) and she said her meal was also very good. Prices are super great. Both meals together including drinks were 20 dollars before tip. Super affordable! The staff were so welcoming and service was super quick too! By their windows, they have free books that you can have. I thought that was a sweet gesture. I realized it's a very family friendly dine in. Ambiance was awesome. I'm coming back to try their burgers! Side note: They are open on Mondays from 11:00-8:30pm. On the app it states that it closes at 3pm but I called to make sure!

First time here and I'm sure I'll be back and bring friends who appreciate value. Our current inflation has made eating out not only for a restaurant owner but us foodies as well. Matt's burger offers real value for simple hamburgers. Burgers are available in different sizes depending on your appetite, I went for the Big Daddy which was an 8 oz burger. Great taste cooked perfectly. You can also get a smaller burger with fries for under $10. Matt's burgers is conveniently located in downtown Summerville. Nothing fancy and the fact it feels more like a dive bar makes the experience that much better The fries came out hot and perfectly seasoned. prices on beers were affordable and a great selection. Nathan's hot dogs and chili also looked good. I hope they stay around for many more years because every small town needs a great burger joint.

This adorable spot is a definite do! It's cozy and very friendly. They make their ranch in house and it's amazing. I don't usually care for ranch but their ranch is off the chain delicious.

Ok, Another wow! I love Matt's Burgers,what can I say. They do a bang up business in the Hamburg industry. Grinding their own meat, they keep the quality high and that results in always being crowded with repeat business. IIt can't just be me liking them, all these people keep coming in--what does that say? Went with two friends and the wife and we all loved our meals! See my bomb pic!

Really good burgers. Super nice staff, clean. The only knock I can give is for being "award" winning chili. It lacked flavor and heat. Other than that great experience.

I've been back twice since my last review and both times have been terrific. Food has been cooked perfectly and piping hot. This is also the only place my youngest will eat a burger so you know it's good if it's picky-toddler-approved.

Sat outside and enjoyed the weather while waiting for our food. Server warned us the wait would be about 35 minutes but it really didn't seem that long. Food was fresh. Loved the seasoning on the fries.

From out of town...... stopped here after visiting the YMCA. OH MY..... awesome burger and the Spanish fries are throwindust bomb. I hope I get back to this little town to eat here again. All the servers work hard and very attentive

Food was just ok. Servers were good, but the kitchen was extremely slow. We ordered 2 burgers and 1 fry to share. We waited just over 45 minutes on food. Additionally, the fries had a strange taste, then we realized it was from "old oil"... I really doubt we'll be back.

Burgers ok. Homemade Cole slaw very good but terrible french fries- overcooked, hard as a rock, every time.

Matt's is a favorite. The burgers are great and the fries don't disappoint. The servers are always sweet. I had noticed a significant price hike recently which means we don't frequent like we used to but I still recommend.

The staff was very nice and helpful! In my opinion, the food looks a little better than it tastes. The burgers were pretty small and lacked seasoning. But for the price, I would go back.

I thought I would try this place. I ordered the Big Daddy, fries and a chocolate milkshake. The big daddy is suppose to be 8oz hamburger and this was mor like 4oz flatten out. The burger was very greasy , no seasoning at all and then the have lettuce and tomato chopped up which for some reason did not look fresh at all. The fries are frozen and nothing special and the chocolate shake is kinda small. I also don't know why they cut the burger in half ? I find that very strange and also I am in the restaurant how does a burger that comes out of the kitchen and right to my table be cold? Things are getting expensive and this burger fries and shake is close to $20 it's just not worth the price during these hard times right now!!!!!

I was so excited yesterday to finally get out of the house and get a burger. While I've known and heard about Matt's Burgers for a while now, this was actually the perfect opportunity to try them! Matt's is a cool little hang out hole-in-the-wall type of place. Located on South Cedar Street, just off the main drag, you'll pull up to small building to park in front. Upon entering, you'll notice the atmosphere is nostalgic and casual. I was promptly greated and handed a menu. Since we've been cooking at home for the past several weeks, my wife and I were excited to order the Bacon Cheeseburger and Matt's Special with a full side of Spanish Fries. We gladly ordered and took our takeout to the nearby Azalea Park, for a small feast of an afternoon! I have to say that these burgers lived up to their reputation and I would highly recommend you try them if you get the chance. Made from scratch they had a perfect combination of flavor, texture, and seasoning that hit the spot. The spanish fries were served hot and crisp and should be tried if you've never had them before. Whether you eat in or takeout, Matt's Burgers is a great little burger shack that I'll definitely be going back to for my next craving! Guten Appetit!

First impression? Hole in the wall, however some of the best food for me has been gotten there. Friendly waitress, another customer gave up his table for four which gave us an inside table. Good start! Bottled beer, no drafts, simple easy menu, it's a burger joint. Hamburger steak with cheese, fries and coleslaw. I've been to Matt's a handful of times now and they have earned these stars! KEEP IN MIND this is not a gourmet burger joint - it's a good, greasy burger and fry fix. I always get the same thing - Matt's Special and a half order of chili cheese fries with a side of ranch and a diet Coke. It is consistent and always made fresh, which I love. I love that the fries aren't too soggy or too crunchy and the ranch dressing is a solid addition to anything. The staff are so friendly every time I dine in or carry out, which I really appreciate. Yes, the burger can be messy and yes, if you get chili on anything, it is smothered on there. You will need a fork and multiple napkins for some things. I will absolutely continue to stop in when I'm craving a burger.

Not bad at all but also not one where I'll feel the need to go back. Certainly a better option than a fast food chain. The service was good. We got tots, burgers and fries. I didn't actually see or taste bacon on my bacon burger. My hubs Big Daddy burger was better imo.

The food was pretty decent. I had the Sausage cheeseburger. It tasted like a regular cheeseburger to me. The sweet potato tots were to die for!!! My husband really enjoyed his Matt's burger. The food came out fast so that was a plus.

Love this place - tiny place but delicious with good service. I had the mushroom cheese burger - yum!
