Great vibe, super friendly and genuine. Food was all amazing! Best tacos I’ve ever eaten. Tortillas were firm but supple, held the precious meat and other ingredients securely. The meat was the slow cooked barbacoa, so smokey and delicious. Only available on Fridays and Saturdays. Three tacos was plenty for two people, given other things we also ordered. Guacamole starter was so smooth and tasty. Ceviche was so fresh with some delightful sauce drizzled on it. Specialty spicey Pink Panther margarita was amazing. Dessert was a highlight, too. Only one option the night we were there: a combo of cheesecake plus caramel coating plus home made pumpkin ice cream. So good! One note about location: My wife and I walked from near the water. It was a lovely walk (about 25 minutes) through very quiet but safe neighborhoods. No need to call a cab or Uber! Whole experience was a highlight of our seven days in Chania.

We have been in Greece a few days but nowhere has made me want to write a review until this meal. My husband had the pork tacos and a spicy margarita, and I had the beef dish du jour which was done to absolute perfection: still a bit rare on the inside but scorch marks on the outside, on top of a bed of mashed sweet potatoes with local greens for a garnish and some spectacular sauce. Sublime! The waiter was fantastic! Very kind and just the right balance of attentive vs letting us eat. The atmosphere is quite romantic and we were here just early enough in November that it was dark outside so the mood lighting was in full effect, but the locals weren’t ready to eat so we got the place to ourselves for the first little while. Overall it was a really wonderful experience and I’d love to come back.

🌮 A Taste of Mexico with a Mediterranean Soul – A Culinary Gem on Crete 🇬🇷🇲🇽 No vacation feels complete without the thrill of hunting down great Mexican food—and this time, our cravings led us to a hidden treasure we discovered online. With a few clicks, we booked a table and arrived 20 minutes early, greeted by a warm and professional waiter who instantly set the tone for the evening. He shared the story behind the restaurant: a fusion of Greek and Mexican culinary traditions, crafted by chefs who travel to Mexico for inspiration and even grow authentic Mexican herbs at home. The ingredients are sourced locally, and you can taste the freshness in every bite. 🥭 The Dishes? A Fiesta of Flavors: • Ceviche: Hands down the best we’ve had on Crete. Sea bass bathed in lime and mango sauce, with peach, avocado, red chili, and red onion dancing on the plate. A tropical symphony. • Tacos: Tempura shrimp meets local bacon in a crispy shell, paired with a mysterious sauce and a wedge of fresh lime. Unexpected, yet addictive. • Tuna Tostadas: Topped with a “secret sauce” that we’re still dreaming about. • Guacamole: Freshly made, served with crunchy tostadas—simple, honest, and utterly satisfying. 🍷 Drinks to Match the Magic: • A beautifully balanced Greek Rosé that complemented the meal like a summer breeze. • And the star of the show: a signature pink Margarita with a chili and salt rim—bold, refreshing, and unforgettable. ✨ The ambiance was relaxed yet refined, with staff who knew their craft and made us feel genuinely welcome. If this place had been closer to our hotel, we’d have returned again and again. If you’re craving Mexican cuisine with a Mediterranean twist, this spot is a must-visit. It’s not just a meal—it’s a journey.

A hidden gem with incredible atmosphere and flavor From the moment we stepped into Matzenta Kusina del Sol, we were greeted by the warm, smoky aroma coming from the open kitchen – a clear sign that something special was happening. The vibe was relaxed and inviting, with a cool, lively atmosphere that made us feel right at home. We started with their guacamole and homemade chips – super fresh and full of flavor. Every dish after that was just as impressive. On the day we visited, they served slow-cooked lamb prepared in a real barbacoa oven – tender, rich, and absolutely delicious. The drinks were also spot on. I had a smoked cocktail that was both bold and smooth – definitely a highlight. If you’re into authentic flavors, great energy, and passionate cooking, Matzenta Kusina del Sol is a must-visit. We’ll absolutely be back.

BOOM ❤️‍🔥 the place is a must! Food is pure pleasure - fresh & high quality ingredients selected and prepared with taste. Herbs, aromas and local goods all together in the perfect bond. We tried 3 seafood based dishes and a salad - all 10/10. Cocktails are super nice, spicy, juicy, complementing the vibe. The service maybe the BEST we recieved so far here - experienced, super friendly and thoughtful guys. Prices are low. The dog of the house was adorable…

Wow. It was the BEST taco that ı’ve ever eat! I don’t overreact, it is truly best dinner at Crete. Owner, waiters, chefs were so cute. You should go and eat chef’s recommendations for sure.

Absolutely five stars. Amazing experience to have Mexican-Cretan fusion food. The meal is authentic and flavorful. Order the signature margarita, get the guac with chips and any three tacos of your choosing. I personally loved the pork and shrimp. They were cooked well.
