Where To Have Breakfast For Dinner

"Square Knot Diner is not the place for smoked salmon benedicts with dill creme fraiche and duck fat potatoes. It’s the place for sitting at the counter, glancing at a TV that’s probably playing some muted sports, and eating fried eggs with bacon, shredded hash browns, toast, and maybe even a couple of flapjacks. If you’re not looking for anything fancy, it’s a great stop." - aimee rizzo

We have been here many times and always enjoyed the company of the staff and the great food. This evening we took part in their steak and whiskey night (presently every Weds). It was AMAZING. The ribeye was, by itself, remarkably tender and perfectly seasoned. But the salad and loaded potato held their own, and it took some measure of decision-making how to share attention between the three. 'Twas a gourmet steak and sides sauntering around in the shadows of a much-loved bar. And if you don't eat steak, then order anything else on the menu. I've tried most of their offerings and have always enjoyed it.

Kitchen ran out of Taco shells. Noel whipped me up a quick substitute that may have been better. Juliana's Gin and tonics are some of the best I have had down in Maude's and 9lb.

It is Saturday April 26 at 1pm and I stop at this place to have a beer and lunch after doing my sales runs. I had to leave before ordering because the bartender was absolutely rude. I also bartend in the evenings that's actually why I stop by because I like trying bars I haven't been to. But this bartender was short, mad at life and I'm guessing hateful of people with accents like myself. And it wasn't only me she barked at a person ordering something from the bar. Again check all my reviews I only give negative ones when the place deserves it.

On Tuesdays she's a quiet bar with great food, drinks and atomosphere. The keeper, Johannes, was polite and made some great drinks and conversation. The food was great bar food, salty and flavorful. My wife loved her Lemon drop and the poutine and Ruben was fantastic!

I have had many experiences at Maude's. Above all, I appreciate the service and atmosphere. You can probably find me here on Monday nights, but no promises! I will never forget the cute old couple getting a dance on or the many opportunities of cherishing familiar films. Truly a staple in my geography of Seattle.

In a land (Georgetown) where there aren't very many good veggie burger options, there's Maude's. The best veggie burger on the Georgetown strip. (They have lots of other great food too, for the record) But I KNOW I'll get a good veggie burger there. I'm not even vegetarian.

The bartenders here exhibit discriminatory behavior and appear unwilling to serve patrons of color. This is the second time I’ve visited, and once again, they failed to extend basic courtesy to those waiting for service. I certainly won’t be returning, and I suspect they’ll be pleased to hear it.

Yelp
We loved our whole experience! We were at the nearby stream plant for a tour and worked up quite the hunger. This spot popped up, and we'd never been here before. Low key vibe, not crowded on Saturday around noon, very friendly staff. Hubs and I shared a Rueben and a salad. Our server split the plate. The corned beef was thick and plentiful. Very tasty. Good portion to share. Our table split an order of the fried cheese curds, and they were simply delightful. Lightly breaded and hot out of the fryer, probably the best we've had. A friend ordered the Maude's salad , it came with a generous portion of chicken and everything was really fresh. After we ate, Brooklyn gave us a quick run down of the history and a quick tour of the side by side bars. She was a joy! We enjoyed chatting with her. This spot is a hidden gem in Georgetown. Will be back to give breakfast a try!

Yelp
Our experience was great. I loved this place! I wish it was a bit closer to the City center so I could go again! We are visiting Seattle and this was an awesome experience. My parents and husband lived it. Our waitress/bartender was so sweet! Thank you! My mom got the burger special which she loved, my dad the soup, French onion and salad, and my husband the bologna sandwich. Everyone loves their meal. This place is very authentic, delicious and good service. Don't pass it up, it's a hidden gem! Oh also, they have several local beers on tap, especially that Rainier we all love!

Yelp
A great and friendly bar that is still Old Skool Seattle vibe! Really, not much of these anymore. Maude's is a great place to pick up a pint (under$5!!!). The patrons and staff are super friendly. The food is about average. Great place to watch the game. Will come here again!!!

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for a quick lunch. The bartender was friendly and helpful, as was the cook who came out with our food. We split a cheeseburger and fries, and while the burger was good, the fries were excellent. It was really a throw-back to my days of hanging out in questionable bars, but it was a really nice place; clean, breezy, and full of the Olympics on TV. Would absolutely go there again.

Yelp
If you've been around Gorgetown lately, you'll notice a trend - high end wine bars, and small delicate bites. Maude's seems like the last fight to recapture Georgetowns tradition. What's a bit disappointing here is Maude's isn't bringing much of anything new to the table and captures the same spirt as its sister establishments - 9lbs, Star Brass, and Seattle Tavern. The food here is comforting, and there's a few TV's here which silently run sports - I'm sure they will throw on your game if you ask politely. If you're a fan of Dive Bars - I could see you giving this place a perfect score. If you're like me and they're not your thing - There's nothing for you to see here.

Yelp
Recently opened and a lot of fun. Dropped in on Labor Day and met Zach, the very friendly and fun gentleman tending the bar. Great selection of beers and simple cocktails. Didn't eat but the food looks quite tasty. Might be listed as a dive bar, but it's clean, welcoming and not trying to be something it isn't!

Yelp
This is my second review of Maude's Hot Corner. I have now tried everything on the menu and been to four steak and whiskey dinners, and I must say that this has to go on your list of restaurants to visit when you're in Seattle! My first favorite was the grilled bologna sandwich. I was stuck on this for a while because where the hell are you going to find a sandwich like this? Then I started wandering through the menu, and each, and every item is pretty much near perfect! The last thing I tried, was the fried chicken sandwich. My favorite chicken sandwich has always been Big Chicken, which is a restaurant chain owned by Shaquille O'Neal. Maude's fried chicken sandwich kicks Big Chicken off the list! Last night, my wife and I went to the monthly steak and rare whiskey dinner. They served a 2 inch New York strip, which is not my favorite cut since I prefer ribeye or fillet, and a glass of Pappys 15 year whiskey, which is about $1500 a bottle. The whiskey was good, but the steak was perfect! I am a retired, working, restaurant owner, so take my word for it!

Yelp
Find neighborhood bar, decent kitchen. It fits Georgetown like a glove. Don't expect anything fru-fru, but solid fare and decent value. Fairly dark, still sporting the seating arrangement from The Square Knot.

Yelp
Love this new, old feeling joint. Really respects the history of the neighborhood. Lots of soul put into it. One request...after 6pm, show old movies on the tvs or turn them gray. Sports and the good people in there are not a good blend.

Yelp
Maude's is That Girl. Great bartenders, tasty food, cold drinks. Get the cheese curds, fried bologna sandwich, pastrami sandwich, buffalo chicken wrap, and onion rings. The perfect laidback addition to Gerogetown

Yelp
It's a low key atmosphere but they're no slouches in the kitchen. Great bar food and a friendly staff make it easy to stop by.

Yelp
Delicious diner-style breakfast and the staff there is lovely. Their hollandaise is second to none!

Yelp
This is a cool bar but the food is gross. Been here twice. The first time I had the hot turkey sandwich and I got pretty ill. I'm assuming they don't sell a lot and the meat was spoiled. I should have known better to ever go back. Then I went in again yesterday and got the chili. It tasted burnt like it's been sitting in a steam table for 3 days. I only had about three bites and paid my tab and left. It was obvious the bartender saw that I barely touched it (she kept looking at it and then hesitating to ask and then finally walked away) and didn't say anything probably because she's so used to serving bad food she didn't want to deal with it. This place is basically the same nasty food they served at the square knot they just changed the name and dimmed the lights.

Yelp
It's a Great late night Georgetown hangout spot. Yummy fried cheese curds and fries!!
