Where to Find a Marvelous Mid-Week Lunch in Portland

"Maurice serves a blend of French and Norwegian fare that makes for a great laidback lunch where diners can escape from it all. Start with oysters on the shell and a glass of wine before adding in orders of radishes with butter, quiche, or the daily cheese plate. The minimal aesthetic of the interior at Maurice makes the street outside feel a mile away, which is sometimes necessary for a true mid-day break." - Rebecca Roland, Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
I've been a resident at Whitney Gray since October of last year. I had a great first impression of Susie. She was direct, honest, and had a great intuition about what I was looking for in an apartment. The building itself is kept pristine, and the walls are thick, so this is one of the quietist living situations that I've been in. Every interaction that I have with Elliot and Susie is delightful. They are both very sweet people, and go out of their way to cater to their tenants needs. And I'm basically in love with the space. It's affordable and large.

I lived in this building for 4 years and had a great experience with the property management. Susie and Elliott in particular were wonderful to work with, extremely helpful and kind, and always great to run into while walking my dog!

These are nice apartments and in a great location. Also the manager Susie was very helpful. Unfortunately I was not am not able to apply at this time but I would recommend that people take a look at these units.

Truly a great place to live! The management and staff are so friendly and available for any questions or assistance. Building is beautiful, clean, well-maintained. Every maintenance request I've had has been completed promptly and efficiently. So glad I'm able to live here.

The property manager here is wonderful. I know things are well taken care of promptly and with at least basic human respect. I, too, have only experienced positive and fruitful interactions with staff. My neighbors are respectful and courteous. And it's just a cute, cozy, and clean old Portland building.

I LOVE living here. Honestly. I've never had a better place, rent is great, mgr is a total sweetheart. I'd live here forever, if I could!

This is without a doubt the worst place I have ever lived. I wanted this to be my home, but because of terrible management, odor issues and not providing reasonable responses to issues, it became a nightmare. Thanks for ruining my downtown living experience. To keep a long story short, I don't recommend living here. We would have extended our lease if a polite, reasonable fix was made to the building problems.

Yelp
If you like the idea of living in what is essentially a trap house - then this is the place for you! Obnoxious neighbors who smoke cigarettes out of their windows and weed in their kitchens is guaranteed to keep you up at night and make your unit smell like a rager. Don't bother reporting this to the building "manager" because she won't do a thing about it except say how sorry she is. Did you think smoking weed was illegal in apartment complexes especially if stated on your lease? Not a problem at Maurice Dear! Smoke all the weed you want with no consequences! But don't you dare EVER smoke near the front of the building. Not even cigarettes - building "manager" takes that very seriously. More seriously than she takes the smoking INDOORS. This listing doesn't mention it but if you choose to use the laundry units in the building, beware that it'll cost you another $30-$40 a month because it's $3.50 PER LOAD and the machines are down right tiny. Plus they flood the laundry room on the regular making it hard to even access them in the first place. You will love the diversity in this building. Sometimes you'll see children running up and down the stairs and sometimes you'll hear the grotesque moans of your neighbors going at it for hours at a time! Have I mentioned how ridiculously expensive it is to live here? And for next to nothing in terms of amenities and space? Oh and you will be charged for damage that you had nothing to do with upon moving out! There is a known issue with refrigerators leaking and causing floor damage in the kitchen (which is the size of a closet) and even after letting the building manager know about this (she already knew from other reports), did she do anything? No - she charged me $300 upon moving out. Look elsewhere if you can. The only appeal this building has is maybe the surrounding location, but you can do better. Not worth the money or the stress of living in such a garbage environment.
