Popped in for a family brunch. Chose the place for the decent rating and being failry expensive according to Google ($$$) and we wanted to take no chances. Service was a bit slow at starters, but we weren't neglected. Place does not scream child friendly, but our 4yo got fixed a juice and plain fries, which she enjoyed. We had beef and tuna tartares from the brunch menu. Portions were smallish, but we expected that, paired with some parm-truffle fries it actually was perfect. The two cocktails we ordered were also quite good. We sat inside and the ambiance was great, comfy chairs, nice plates and themed decor.

This place was a great culinary experience all the food was super tasty and fresh and had unique flavors!! The drinks were super delish and well made. A little pricey! But service was nice and friendly and the music was AMAZING! also really cool decor. I'd definitely recommend this place

Mauvais Garçon was such a great surprise! Émile, our server, was incredibly helpful and made our experience even better. Everything was delicious - from the beer to the plates. The restaurant follows a tapas-style concept, with dishes meant to be shared, and the ones we’ve ordered were amazing. Make sure to get the Brussels sprouts and the fried chicken sliders! It was just a quick stop to pass the time, but I honestly can’t wait to go back!

Owner made his special Clover Club and tastes as good as it looks. Great place. Great food. Must try the tartare

Tried their new Notre-Dame location. Service and atmosphere were quite excellent. The staff is awesome too and overall nice vibe. The tuna tartare was our first dish - very tasty. Unfortunately everything else was SOOO SALTY. I don’t know if the chef that day was just heavy on the salt but it was hard to finish the other dishes because of how salty they were. That’s a shame because it was otherwise a great place. I guess we might have gotten unlucky that day. The drinks were delicious! It seems to get busy so reservation would be recommended.

Cute cozy place on Notre-Dame street with really delicious food 😇😇 We had the tuna tartar, arancini, gnocchi , and chicken sliders and they were so delicious and just the right portion for 2 people ❤️❤️ For dessert we had the skor with vanilla ice cream and expresso and it was beyond tasty ❤️❤️ Cannot wait to come back to this 10/10 chilled out venue for date nights

We went here for our annual holiday get-together and found out if the recent influencer hype is justified. It's important to note we did not try the new "menu experience" because they lacked the items we wanted. So we picked our own. Firstly, we were greeted with, quite honestly, subpar service for a place with a menu at those prices. We realize the place is called "mauvais Garçons" , but the service was fitting of that. Apparently, "May I take your order?" has gone out of style and been replaced with an uninterested and lazy, "So what are we doing? What's happening for food?". But that's subjective; maybe I'm too old-fashioned or snobby 🤷‍♂️ Our tabletop was also loose and kept shifting by serval inches every time we rested our elbows on it. As for the food itself, the sliders were by far the best thing we tried, and we have had better. We also don't understand how the menu says "à partager" but each dish is an odd number (3) of items. Yet, the tables are for 2, 4, or 6 people, not triangles or nonagons. Given the elevated price for the small portions, this is a problem for us. We ordered 3–4 plates each, a drink, and a dessert, spent $120 each  (no GST/TPS that day), shared, and left hungry anyway (actually ate again elsewhere). The dessert was also tiny and subpar in taste. You may have seen some hype around the $65 7-course "menu experience". We suggest trying that if it includes all the dishes you want to try. But it's for a minimum of two people, so $65 becomes $130 to share one extra item (the plates will have 4 instead of 3 from what we saw in the reels). It's not as ridiculously cheap as advertised, but still slightly less overall, and maybe you won't leave hungry. For our experience,  unfortunately it did not live up to the hype and was not worth driving through Montreal's Saturday dinner-time traffic. We apologize for the mostly negative review, we understand that our single, isolated experience may not be the norm at this particular restaurant.

Yelp
Fantastic dinner experience! The tapas plates were a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds. The service was friendly and timely, and the wine list had a nice range of options. We opted to try our first naturally fermented cinsault blend from the Barossa Valley which went great with all of dishes we chose. Everything was delicious! We definitely recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
Service was exceptional, and the food delish! Will come again next time in town. We were s party of 3, and honestly 2 tapas each were more than enough. I only wish we had space for dessert, next time! Fantastic flavors and presentation - MmmMm!

Yelp
The trying-to-be-hipster atmosphere was a flop for me. The menu selection and execution of the dishes left a lot to be desired. We came on a Friday night after making a reservation for 20:30. The restaurant is pretty small, with some tables and a few spots at the bar. They have an extensive cocktail list but we didn't drink so I can't comment on that other than to say that the options looked good, albeit pricey. The restaurant was very loud and I had to basically scream so my friend across the table could hear me. Nothing on the menu particularly excited me but we ordered the best sounding dishes. We had: Ribbin salad $8: 1.5/5 nothing wrong with it but really not to my taste. The long pieces of vegetables was hard to eat Tuna tataki tacos $18: 3.5/5 not terrible but small portion for the price Fried Chicken sliders $12: 3/5 I enjoyed the taste but there was just too much sauce . The first few bites were good but afterwards it was overwhelming Pasta of the day=gnocchi with pesto $18: 0/5 complete lack of flavour. They topped a warm pasta with micro greens (I assume to complement their hip vibe???). Warm wilted leaves on top of this mediocre pasta made it even more disappointing. Expensive for no reason The service was fine and that's really the only reason I didn't give just 1 star. Everything else pretty much sucked. I would not come back here.

Yelp
The place was discovered after we took a walk nearby the canal LaChine. We ordered 7dishes and 2 desserts. The tuna and fried chicken burgers are delicious. Apart of that, we find the service was pretty slow. We waiting till midnight for waitress to come to hand to us our bills. This restaurant is too pricey of its food quality. I probably won't come back again.

Yelp
My friend and I tried this place over the holidays, and while our experience was ok, this place is not worth the price. We booked 2 seats at the bar and I was seated right when I walked in. Unfortunately the place is really small and the way tables are set, you cannot get to the bathroom if the waiter is at any of the tables in the back. My sour cherry drink was good, but again very expensive ($14) for one shot, syrup, ice and a candy. We shared a bottle of wine recommended by the bartender and while I don't remember which one it was, it was very good. Food was hit or miss for me. Beef tataki was chunky, full of fat and chewy. Torched salmon was my favourite, sweet, melt in your mouth, tasteful. Arancinis were ok but missing flavor. Foie gras was a tiny portion. Could only taste the fried onions and garlic bread basically. Churros were dried. Probably the worst I've had in my life, served with the tiniest Nutella minijar. Cheesecake crème brûlé was good, but it tasted premade. Overall we have much better options in the city for this type of cuisine.

Yelp
A M B I A N C E My boyfriend discovered this place right as it was opening. We went for Valentine's Day 2017. When you walk inside the lighting is very dark and it's very intimate. The first few times we went it wasn't busy at all! We were able to have such lovely conversations. Recently it's been getting really busy. This Valentine's Day the whole restaurant and bar was full! Good for the restaurant, but less good for intimate moments. This venue is not super fancy, but it's not a casual restaurant either! C L E A N L I N E S S This place is quite clean! The bathrooms aren't the nicest, but it's nice and clean! O V E R A L L Q U A L I T Y They serve tapas style meals! So everything is ordered to share! Honestly, we haven't ever tried something we didn't like. They have $1 oysters for happy hour with the purchase of alcohol from 5-7pm so that makes it a fun start to any night! They used to have the most amazing pork belly and lobster Mac N Cheese, which was literally the reason we kept coming back, but they took it off the menu... Here's hoping it returns! C O S T $$$ At the end of the night don't be surprised by a big bill! W A I T T I M E S We like to start right away with wine and oysters, and as they bring the oysters we pick two dishes that we want next. Usually we order 3 or 4 other servings. You do have to wait in between meals this way, but with good company and good wine you're all set. We always get a reservation, and are seated immediately when we enter. P A R K I N G No parking lot. You can find parking on the street! But if you are in PSC and St. Henri it's a lovely walk by the canal! L O C A T I O N It's right next to Lord William Pub, but the sign is so small. You really have to look for it! H E L P F U L S T A F F Literally everyone here is amazing! Don't be shy to do a shot with the staff!

Yelp
Great atmosphere with lovely workers. They have happy hour $1 oysters from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm with a purchase of a cocktail, wine or beer. I also ordered fried chicken sliders, tuna tataki tacos, tuffle oil French fries. The food was spot on and will definitely come back again! It is in a quite neighbourhood, away from noisy areas. Great restaurant. #mtl #mtlfoodie #montrealfoodie #mtlfood

Yelp
Usually I am excited for Tapas, and it's right beside Le Fantôme, which is an amazing Tapas resto. When I entered, no one was in the front to receive me, I had to go to counter, where all the workers were chitchatting, so I named my reservation, and then they directed me by pointing to the table(when I am used to the host to take us to the table). I order a glass of wine and two Tapas. My smoked salmon was good but the bread with dill/cheese felt more groceries style. My sirloin steak wasn't hot enough. Then I asked for the bill because I had to leave, but it took so long because they were preparing bills for the rest of the group(some of them still waiting for desert). The music was way too loud for a small place. Food 2 1/2 stars, service 0 star...

Yelp
I came across a couple of articles during the last few weeks mentioning Mauvais Garçons therefore when my friends proposed to go and try it I was immediately down. The restaurant is located on William St in Griffintown and has this industrial and baroque touch that is really nice. The concept of the restaurant is sharing which is not my favorite, however we ordered 8-10 items from the menu and most of them were really good. I would specially recommend the Mac N Cheese, Lobster Cakes, NY Sirloin and the fried Ferrero Rocher for deserts. The service was really good, one of the owners regularly came to check on us and decided to offer us an item that we chose but did not really enjoy. It was a very good and interesting experience, I will definitely be back as they're planning on adding a Brunch Service.

Yelp
Very disappointing. All the dishes were mediocre and overpriced (despite the restaurant's moderate - rather than expensive - pricing). I have no plans to repeat even though it may be the closest restaurant (in the universe) to my home. The dishes: - Caesar salad: Ok, but typical. Seemed promising as it was advertised as coming with pork belly. It turns out that their vision/definition of pork belly (or, at least, its acceptable set of preparations) differs from mine - theirs was prepared thin and crispy like a fried prosciutto. I honestly couldn't get my taste buds to believe it was pork belly. - Lobster fritters: Not again. They essentially took a good ingredient and bumped it DOWN several notches. - Beef sliders: The ratio of beef patty to other components was far too small (I'd have even preferred shrinking the other components - a case of less is more). The quality of the beef seemed low as well (not fast food low - but below the benchmark set by almost any restaurant serving ~$6 sliders - not burgers - that I've experienced). - Fried chicken: Given the option between KFC and this, I would choose KFC every single time. - Fries: Pretty good. My favourite item by far. The decor and service: - The tables and chairs seem off for this type of restaurant. They're skimpy and wobbly - like what you'd expect in a small neighbourhood Cafe. Coincidentally, the prior tenant in this space was a small neighbourhood Cafe. The other decor elements were somewhere between reasonable and fine. - The service was friendly and added to the experience. I have no complaints about this.

Yelp
This restaurant for me started off so strong! Even though it was dead I figured its OK because it's a Tuesday night and the restaurant was very cute. Plus we got good service and it probably helped that it was just my bf and I and a table of 13 people. I ordered mostly what the waitress recommended except the cauliflower taco because I felt that would not satisfy me. Apparently both tacos especially the cauliflower taco is very good. Maybe when I go back I will try it. So I ordered the MG bloody caesar which consisted of Jameson and pickle juice. It was so good! Perfect mix of spicy and tangy. The waitress informed us that they have $1 oysters so we got 6 of them from Vancouver and 6 from PEI. Then we ordered the fried chicken sliders and a side of fries. I wasn't excited about the chicken and really only got it because of the waitress but damn that was my favorite thing of the night! Imagine if a McDonald's burger and KFC had a baby. The chicken because of the buttermilk was so juicy and it was hot and steaming and crunchy. There were also arugula and pickles in the sliders too but no ones cares about that. Lol It was pretty filling. Honestly I would have been happy with just the sliders and fries. The fries were made with Parmesan, parsley and truffles. My bf said it was the best fries he ever had. I would go so far as to say that but they were good. We also ordered the steak sirloin cut in tiny slices with chimichurri and crispy leeks on top. It was good but it didn't blow my mind. Some pieces were more chewy than others. I liked the fatty pieces the best. We had the mac and cheese with lobster and pork belly. I had high hopes for this one. The waitress recommended it and I like mac and cheese and lobster and pork belly so this dish had to be a winner!! What's not to like?! Sadly it didn't meet my expectations. I wish the lobster and pork belly pieces had been bigger. They really chopped it up so finely! Had there been more lobster and pork belly it might have made a difference. But that was the least of my problems. My problem was the pasta itself. Some people like it al dente ... but me I'm used to having my mac and cheese more cooked. My bf and I felt it was undercooked for our taste. I'm sure some people like it this way though. Also the mac and cheese pasta was long!! It wasn't the typical macaroni pasta. Lastly for dessert we had the deep fried ferrero rocher. There was three chocolates deep fried with vanilla ice cream on the side. To me it tasted like a regular ferrero rocher. You barely taste the batter. It's was good though. Not too sweet. The ice cream had a different texture. I wonder if it was homemade because it was icy and kinda chunky. Haha that's sounds gross but I assure you it wasnt. I hope this place gets more customers because it has a lot of potential! I would come back to try the other things on the menu like the foie gras. Oh and I would definitely go back for the fried chicken!!

Yelp
Underrated in the game. A hidden gem and a great experience. Loved the tapas, highly recommend the cauliflower tacos and the beets 3 ways. 10/10 experience with a great deal. Purchase 1 drink and it's bogo on the tapas - can't beat it !

Yelp
What a pretty restaurant! Ordered a passion fruit old fashion, was done perfectly. Had the fries and the beef tartare. The fries were really good but I was really impressed with the tartar! It was more than a generous size, and it was the perfect amount of mustard. Seasoned very well. The music was a tad loud. Otherwise, great experience, will be going back again.

Yelp
Thanks to Yelp, we discovered this new gem in town. The decor was fine but the staff was lovely. But what shines the most about this place is the food. It's a tapas (small plates) concept but it was great to try several items on the menu. I personally wish the foie gras dish was a slight bigger portion but overall it was amazing. I would totally recommend this place and my favourite was the sliders. A must try!

Yelp
I had heard a lot of good things about Mauvais Garcons so I decided to go down to griffintown to check it out. I wasn't disappointed. Service was happy and friendly and Jason one of the owners made sure that we were well taken care of. The food was exceptionally good. We ordered quite a few things from the menu and then we shared everything. Seems to be the best way to go there. I definitely recommend the place to all my friends and family. Great experience!

Yelp
Love this tapas place!! Everything we had was fantastic, from our cocktails to our meal to our service. The fried chicken sliders were out of this world... I've never had chicken so crispy. A definite must
