"Head to Maverick Saloon for a break from the wine crowds. The dusty wooden semi-dive is popular with locals, featuring dollar bills on the ceiling, live music and events most weekends, plus a full slate of classic cocktails and pub grub, like wings, onion rings, and pepperoni-topped flatbreads. (And fine, for the wine-seekers, the list here is pleasantly fleshed out with local bottles, too.)" - Cathy Chaplin, Eater Staff

Google
Hands down the best grilled brussel sprouts I have ever eaten. Shannon is the best! Give her a raise.

I loved this place! So welcoming and uncomplicated. The food is sooooo good! I had the Big Maverick burger and, honestly, it felt like I was eating a super delish homemade burger. I usually don’t like home-cut fries but these were amazingly crispy and scrumptious! They have live bands and DJs. We were also very grateful to be allowed to park overnight in our RV. Thanks a million 🙏🏻

Carolina Altamirano

Google
The live band was amazing when I was there. It felt like I was at a concert with a work famous band. The DJ followed that up with fire! We were dancing the entire time. Drinks service was good too. Staff was friendly.

Google
This place was awesome décor was South Texas but vibes We're coastal california.. went there to listen to the live music.

Google
Went there after the rodeo. Service was super slow and they were out of the first THREE things we ordered. The food came out slowly and was mediocre. Lots of potential but they failed us tonight.

Google
it was my first visit at Mavericks. and after riding in the heat . what a cool place to rest up . surprisingly bar food was good . table service was good ..clean restrooms. definitely trying it again

Google
It’s got that dive bar atmosphere with that 5 star restaurant! The customer service was great, the bartender was on top of things! The food was AMAZING!!! those wings were super saucy and delicious! Tasted like secret recipe kinda sauce. The home grown, pickled vegetable medley was a great surprise! The breading was fluffy and crisp at the same time! The catfish was melt in your mouth delish. My smothered chicken was a little dry but the gravy was worth it. We came for a local treat and were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience!! Will definitely we eating there again next time we hit the casino.

Google
Whenever we are near Solvang with my friends theywant to visit this country bar and dance. I enjoy the people watching and they have my favorite beer, Cali Squeeze, on tap.

Sheri G.

Yelp
Fun place for beverages and live music! Lots of dancing and a great vibe! Take your loved ones dancing!!

Yelp
This review is not for the bar or the entertainment. I had dinner there last night and I had the fried chicken. The brown gravy they use has absolutely no flavor, no seasoning whatsoever and was awful. It just tasted like goop. The chicken was cooked. Great, IF they only seasoned it with some flavor. They need to start using seasoning on their food. It tasted like hospital bland food! The service was atrocious. Definitely need to hire more servers for a Bar/Restaurant that size. Took over 40 minutes to get our food.

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Wow! This place is fun! We walked in and couldn't stop staring at all the dollar bills. The margaritas are tasty and they do off non alcoholic beer. The bartender was friendly and efficient. We can't wait to come back and try the food!

Javier C.

Yelp
Didn't try any food but the vibes for late night drinks were perfect !! Great service by both tenders & great vibes overall!!

Yelp
After sitting by the pool at Chumash Casino & playing a few slot machines, everyone wanted a bite to eat. So, I jumped on Yelp and found this place. It was unanimous!!!! From the minute we pulled into the parking lot I felt like we were pulled back in time to the Western Cowboy times. The saloon was all wood and we sat at a table on the front porch. Our server handed us menus and took our drink order immediately...after all it is a "saloon!" We ordered street tacos, angus beef sliders, garlic fries, and a Mav sampler. All very good and served hot! Prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. ***Make sure to check out the ceiling inside!!!! I posted a pic of it! *Dogs allowed outside in front porch only *Plenty of parking *Live entertainment & karaoke (check website for schedule) *Drinks are strong *Great selection of beer Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Local watering hole thats been around a minute, this 1900s saloon is obviously a locals establishment that tolerates tourists. This cool spot was within walking distance of my lodging and seemed like the logical choice. So I passed through recently on a business trip and stopped in for a bite to eat. This locale is as much a watering hole as it is a people watching spot and restaurant. I sat at a booth on the side and my server followed me with a menu. After a quick peruse for an appetizer, onion rings to start. It comes in a whole and half order option, I went for the half order of onion rings to munch on while my dinner was prepared, it was plenty for one. Golden brown crunchy onions, pretty good but a little greasy. For my entree I went for the Pan Seared Chicken. This is a delicious pan seared chicken thats served with a spread of mash, with mushrooms onions and a brown gravy thats very savory and tasty. It was a nice piece of chicken though a bit small for the price. I just wished there had been another piece or a larger one. This was not a cheap entree, in fact the most expensive on the menu. That being said, it was still a good meal. That alone left me wanting something else so I opted for the Cheesecake, this was a sublime seasonal cheesecake with fresh blue berries. A traditional style with an elevated twist. Creamy smooth and delicious. The service was attentive, the food good and the scenery interesting to say the least 3.5 Stars rounded up for the cool local groove and the sublime cheesecake... definitely worth a visit 00863

Yelp
If your looking for a good time in the SYV this is your stop. Plenty of country music, dancing and drinks. The bartenders were...welp tending bar. This place was packed, it's a whole vibe. After the country music band left they played some fun hip hop. Free shuttle to and from the casino. It was a mixed bag of people all out for a good time. So saddle up darlin and bring your rodeo king and belly up to the bar then drop it like it's hot.

Yelp
Everything I experienced at this bar: DO NOT GO HERE! THIS IS NOT A SAFE ENVIRONMENT AND YOU WILL NOT BE PROTECTED HERE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN!!!! * attacked by drunk girl * Called me a slut * Got kicked out for defending myself * Dragged out with chest exposed * Extremely humiliated by staff and the way they handled the situation * They said they were gonna call the cops on me even tho I was clearly a victim * Wasn't the first time I was treated differently at this bar * Last time I was there the bar tender with glasses and long hair wouldn't serve me until I "covered up my chest" * I wasn't drunk I was the designated driver * I was extremely disrespected and humiliated after I was attacked by a drunk girl * I didn't go to the bar for a month bc it was so embarrassing * I went back and they wouldn't let me in until I apologized to the security who exposed my chest * Lalo was extremely disrespectful to me and wouldn't give me an explanation on when the bar tender would be there * Over all it was a horrible experience and i am traumatized after the entire bar saw my chest * I don't think this is an appropriate environment for women and I am disgusted with the way I was treated and exposed and humiliated * After the incident the other manager said we could have a meeting to discuss the situation * She ignored my calls and it took multiple times to reach out to her * Only for her to deny my meeting which she originally told me we could have * I've not had the chance to explain my side of the story and I have reached out to a lawyer for advice * They said I was being disrespectful to the manager but how could I not after the horrific experience that I had * Have reached out multiple times for weeks and keep being ignored by everyone * "Reyna" is extremely rude to me everytime she answers the phone

Kylie B.

Yelp
Not a good place. I hate a horrible experience. Post wedding they turned around so many for no reason and were very rude. Not a fan

Kaleigh R.

Yelp
Sassy man bouncer must've been going through it..... he told us a previous wedding paid "4 million dollars" to rent the place out. We saw a a line for general admission and he said the only way we can get in tonight is "5 million dollars". Strange experience FOR SURE

bridget F.

Yelp
Was refused entry and the only way we would be able to get in was if we paid 4 million dollars. The rudest of people. I hate this place.

Tamara G.

Yelp
Fun place with a great dance floor and band. Food was good and our server was extremely helpful. Unfortunately our evening was interrupted by a large wedding party (3 bus loads, yes 3 bus loads!) that consumed the building.

Sarah K.

Yelp
Fun fining experience in what felt like an old time western saloon. Good food, good drinks, good service.

Aly B.

Yelp
ayyyeeee LOVE the turnaround this place brings! The Mav has really done themselves up in the most recent 3 years post pandemic. We love our June Karaoke nights as well as the Tomahawk Tuesdays THANKS GUYS

Drew M.

Yelp
Anytime I'm out here tasting wine at the vineyards I have to stop here for some cold beers and music. I mean after all man can't live on beer alone. Anyway this is your typical country bar with great music and friendly crowds. The service was friendly and attentive but the food well it was ok. I think I ordered the wrong thing cause everybody else's food looked a lot better then mine. I had a tri tip sandwich but the only problem was the lack of beef. the sauce was good and the sandwich was good just hardly any meat on it. Which was a shame because I was hungry! Oh well at least the beer was cold. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. I'll just try something different.

Aerick M.

Yelp
This bar is Pure Entertainment and they have the best Onion Rings on Earth. Shout out to Quintin. The line dancing is awesome. Good fun vibes all around.

Karen A.

Yelp
Rayna is the best Back here to salute a friend who passed away from a heart attack. The last time my husband was here was with our friends John and Kevin. John passed away in October 2023. Rayna was very supportive and gave a drink on her. Now that's very special to us and we'll be back. Cheers John Bowers we love you see you on the other side

Jessica Webb ..

Yelp
was very excited to go to this place because it's the only local bar in town. when i arrived i was refused entrance by the bouncer. he was very rude and basically turned me away and said there was no way we could get in. very disappointed

Steve K.

Yelp
I've been a consistent patron here for over 6yrs....damn the food and service just gets better every time! Cocktails are consistently ! Thanks AD!!! Tonight I had the Flatiron with brussel sprouts and fries....for a minute I forgot Iwas in a saloon...absolutely amazing! Steak was perfectly cooked and so savory. Well done Mav...well done!

Mark K.

Yelp
Came here for a second time before leaving - wanted to enjoy one last dinner! Got here about 1:45pm, and not many people so I was able to get "my corner" again - yayy! I was lucky to have Adriana as my server again; she was great from my previous visit so I knew I was in great hands. And I was right! Excellent service. They have a Taco Thursday special from 2pm, but I was offered that option although it was a bit early. The tacos are TriTip (asada), chicken, or veggie for $2 each; you can also have Salmon or Blackened Catfish for $4 each, all are a la carte. The last time I was here had a great meal, but wanted to switch it up a bit. I ordered the Impossible burger (with cheddar, Mav sauce, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and caramelized onions) and I substituted the fries with onion rings for an additional $3. I also tried the canned Guinness, as a special treat! And, as a sample, I ordered a veggie taco. That would be my dessert! The food came out taco first, and it was a nice looking taco with the two small corn tortillas and a nice assortment of chopped vegetables (grilled?) on top, with a small lime wedge on the side. The burger came out soon after, and was open faced to show off the ingredients. Looked tasty! I added a bit of mayo (there wasn't much Mav sauce) and it was pretty tasty and moist - the mayo was probably not needed, in hindsight. The onion rings were a bit of a disappointment - they were a bit overcooked for my taste, and there about 7. That amount I expect for a regular side, not for an extra $3. Should have had a side salad for same cost. The taco was delicious! I have never had a veggie taco like this. The veggies were well seasoned and the taco had a slightly spicy heat as well. Would have had a few more, but was filled with the burger. A few of these for under $10 total would be a good meal. So, kind of thinking the onion rings were only problem, so won't knock down (think 4.5 stars) because the great ambience and service is almost a 6 in my books anyway. Look forward to my next trip south. Whatever this place did to stay open during the shutdowns and all seems to be working! Best luck going forward . . .

Keith H.

Yelp
Fun big country bar good food nice strong drinks .. fun place cops just waiting out side closing time we left at 12 and counted 5 cop cars just waiting to bust people ...

Kim D.

Yelp
Ohhhhh, I love it here. You want fun? You have to go! How about chaos? You'll find it here too. DO YOU LIKE KARAOKE? Well, its every TUESDAY!!! Service and food isn't bad.

Devin B.

Yelp
It's been years since my last visit to Maverick Saloon and I'm glad I made the visit! The last one was with some questionable people which made for a not so fun time. This visit was full of good vibes! Old wood bar dollar bills and bras attached to the ceiling what more do ya need. I'm a simple man and appreciate the fact that this bar has options for the more than simple visitors as well! For me they nailed it with a cold coors light and an amazing Tri tip sandwich and the best French fries in the valley!! Crispy pillowy soft inner potato goodness. Loaded with salt and pepper fresh out the fryer! Crave worthy!! The girls working made ya feel like family and would give it right to ya if you gave any lip just like mama would!!

Shannon L. A.

Yelp
Yummy the service and food was great. Ambiance too. My husband and I were recommended to go here and we're so glad we did! We'll be back for sure.

Sara Q.

Yelp
Had a blast .. and guess what ladies we are invited !! I was so excited ... and you don't have to be old

Susan C.

Yelp
We went because it's advertised as a country western bar w/live music. We paid our $10 cover only to find out it was a rock band. Ugh!!! I had to ask the DJ to play country in between sets but no luck. The speakers were too loud and it was hard to make or hear conversation. We left. I should've asked for a refund. Maybe if we'd of gone on another night, we could've heard great new country music. However, we were only in Solvang for 2 nights. Bummer!!!

Geo M.

Yelp
Maverick not only rocked it with live music tonight , they brought out some delicious food. A great time was had by all and drinks were flowing. Almost felt like a normal Saturday night! Will be back.

Mary Z.

Yelp
great food! amazing service! beautiful restaurant! We come here for the best fried rice and their crispy garlic chicken wings

Michael C.

Yelp
Awesome service great drinks Cool ambiance plus they have good bar food We will be back

Tamera R.

Yelp
Great Friday night spot to sip drinks & mingle with your girlfriends & take in a night out whether it's a fun local DJ, country show or famous artist !!

Karen L.

Yelp
What can you say about a bar that had no choice but to add food in order to remain open due to Covid restrictions? That's about what you can expect when you order a meal at Mavericks ; they are serving up food because they gotta. I can't complain as I love the low key vibe, local vibe ( this is where my family who lives in town always drinks). This has been the traditional watering hole for those who live in the area so when tough times call for desperate measures, I'm glad they were able to find a solution to keep the doors open. On this trip, we ordered a variety of the items from the menu: Fried Chicken skins, Fried pickled vegetables, Fried pig ears, Burgers, Wedge salad, Chicken wings and the tri-tip plate. the tri-tip plate was definitely the highlight of the menu. They cooked the meat perfectly so I was surprised when my burger came out dry as it was overcooked (i like my medium to rare). When you come in with the knowledge this is just the run of the mill, bar food experience, you will appreciate what they are trying to do. The prices are decent for the valley and it's nice to support a locally owned, long standing establishment.

Steven C.

Yelp
With a YeeHaw we drove our horses to this watering hole in the middle of a beautiful valley with huge oak trees, clean air and down right great folk. When you wander in, the vibe is a casual homie western feel. We ordered our food and quickly it was at our table. Just on the other side of our booth was a venue area where they weren't shoeing horses but setting up for a free concert. The town folk started pouring in as the booze was following down. What a great place. Then it happened. The music was amazing. Great dancing times. Everyone was having a blast. If you are ever in the area this is where the locals go and you won't be disappointed. So kick off your tennies but on your boots, wranglers and hat for a ho down good time. We will be back just as soon as we can hog tie some more crew.

Yelp
California's last great honky-tonk. Santa Ynez is a gilded diorama on the Central Coast fighting off the squalid interlopers there to foist their personal re-inventions on one of last bulwarks of authenticity in this state. We have seen so many great shows and have had so many biographical nights there, largely attributable to the Founder of the Feast, Ronnie, the lead bartender- legend and modern day Jedidiah Smith...last of the great beaver trappers. We love this place- it restores our faith in the possibility of a night out and electing to be around other people.

Nancy S.

Yelp
Stopped by because a friend recommended this place. What a great atmosphere and our server Adrianna was amazing! We only had drinks but heard from several people that the food is good too.

MamaSugar B.

Yelp
Yes!!!! The ambiance is what you'd expect from a saloon style bar: older, rustic, wood, leather, and beer ;D Highly recommend. FYI: no AC, so the summer heat may get to ya, but order a beer and you'll be fine!

Warren E.

Yelp
Reyna the bar tender makes the place a gem in Santa Ynez Good selection of beers with a decent food menu

Cyndi S.

Yelp
Stopped by when out and about Santa,Ynez. Saturday at lunch and the place was almost empty. Chicken Wings and Chicken flautas were average, service was spotty. Very nice people but not super attentive. Best part was they were very nice to my pup. Almost nicer than they were to me. I hope their night time is more fun than the lunch. Probably won't return, lots of other options in the area.

Es C.

Yelp
Everything was great from service to food to drinks and its a locals place but they welcomed us annoying tourist there will definitely go back when we go back to Solvang.

Danielle B.

Yelp
Fist time at this establishment even though I have lived in the Central Coast over 20 years. It's nestled in the residential neighborhoods of the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. Quaint setting on the corner of the block therefore there is both parking lot and plenty of street parking. It's a Saloon. So don't expect fancy schmancy. They definitely cater to those who go to drink and be entertained by their live music. BUT..the menu did not disappoint. Out goal was to listen to good music, have a few drinks and people watch. We achieved all of the above and the bar menu is pretty expansive even when it appears most patrons drink beer and nostalgic straight up cowboy liquor. They pretty much had anything you could possibly imagine when it comes to alcohol. Two bars, inside/outside dining, and when they do allow dancing ..it looks like a Pretty big dance floor. We ordered the crispy bird sandwich (I know that's not the name). It was Gooood. Deep fried battered chicken breast, loaded with extras, juicy and MESSY. Came with a side. We got a salad to balance things out but also ordered a side of fries and onion rings. Both of those were a meal in itself. Big portions of sides. BUT the very best thing on their menu is their Naughty Donuts!!! FREAKING AMAZING! Deep fried warm biscuit donuts smothered in salted Carmel sauce with vanilla ice cream. Heaven in your Mouth! Definitely send diabetics into a coma. My husband ordered the extras which were bacon and chicken skins. I didn't care for all that as it was a bit over the top as the dessert was delicious as is. Lastly..I want to give out props to our amazing waitress Shannon. She was attentive, friendly, engaging and clearly enjoyed her job. We were also running late for our reservation and they were sold out due to a popular band playing. We received two calls confirming if we were still making it. Wow...most places would just fill your spot and say too bad and make that $$ especially in such tough economic times. This is what sets great establishments apart from others. They care and cater to their customers. We appreciate the calls and saving our table. We WILL be back!!

F M.

Yelp
i have been stopping by the Maverick for years and never have been told i can not sit at a both unless i am ordering food. the African American Female placed a reserve paper on the booth after we returned back to the bar! the gentlemen working the Bar are great ! i'm not sure about the new hires!! !

Grayson P.

Yelp
For entertainment, and a fun place to experience a true Roadhouse atmosphere, The Maverick Saloon is tops!!

Marjorie U.

Yelp
If you were looking for a place that is open late at night, this is the place for you! The place can get so crowded. Loud and expect not to have any place to sit. There is an entrance fee. There was a live band playing--definitely a fun place to visit.

Marilyn C.

Yelp
Fun and cool 'dive' bar. Rayna was welcoming but she was busy. Dollar bills pinned on the ceiling made some interesting and very memorable pics!

George A.

Yelp
eleven of us went there on a motorcycle ride, as we were sitting down the waitress " dark hair chick on web site " is barking as us that we can only get one check and we would have to pay in cash or combine cash and up to three credit cards! I ordered a cheeseburger with only lettuce and pickles, she shakes her head as if I'm putting her out in some way and say " just tell me what you don't want!" so I do, she disappears and doesn't come back then some kid brings our order and you guess it mines wrong and under cooked , someone ordered avocado extra and didn't get it, two other people asked for ranch and bbq sauce and didn't get till after they were done eating and then charged us for it really? that waitress sucks , food would have been better if I got it the way I wanted oh well I guess we'll have ride somewhere else next time.

T U.

Yelp
A must stop if you are in the area- Food/cocktails/service 5 star!!!!! Mojitos and cheeseburger with onion rings!

Cindy J.

Yelp
Stopped her on a lull road trip thru the Los Padres national forest. Cute bar! We sat outside to enjoy the weather. It was Taco night, so tacos were on sale. I had fish tacos. Yummy

Beverley W.

Yelp
Had the most disgusting lunch , tacos were awful, fries gross ,flautas so small , tortillas fell apart which means they were old .... Just awful!!!! 0 rating do not eat here !!

Jim R.

Yelp
Two Stars for "dive bar" ambiance. At first glance, or upon arrival, the bar looks fun and funky with its wood plank floors, cowboy atmosphere, and a gazillion dollar bills hanging from the ceiling. The fun stops with the service and the mediocre food. Nothing special at this place except the overpriced fare Didn't get a chance to experience the atmosphere with the band, maybe it turns into a better place. For us, it was just another overrated spot that looks to be trending downward. We had a chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger. Both are last place on our list of bar food.

Diana L.

Yelp
The wait staff make this place. You become family and feel at home right away and it keeps us coming back. Recently discovered the southwest salad! Wow! Love this place!
