Max and Leo's Pizza Chelmsford

Had dinner there with our daughter and her family. The food was delicious and the staff was attentive. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her summer salad.

Stopped by Max and Leo’s in Chelmsford on a Friday night with a friend, and wow, this place delivers (and I don’t mean just takeout). We rolled in around 7pm and the place was absolutely packed. Like, sardines-in-a-can packed. Somehow, we scored the last two seats at the bar, kinda felt like winning the pizza lottery. We kicked things off with a couple Fiddleheads to get the night started, then I moved on to a Bissell Brothers Substance (smooth and hoppy), while my buddy went for the Wachusett Blueberry (yes, it actually smells like blueberries, and yes, it’s awesome). All the beers were ice cold and just hit right with the food. Speaking of food: we split Jero’s Pineapple Pizza and the Loaded Fries. I know pineapple on pizza can be divisive, but trust me, this one’s a game-changer. Sweet, savory, spicy , just the right amount of char on the crust... it disappeared fast. The loaded fries were next level too, crispy, cheesy, bacony goodness. Zero regrets. If you’re looking for a fun, buzzing spot with killer pizza, great beer, and a vibe that makes you feel like you’re in on something special, Max and Leo’s is the move. Just get there early or be ready to stalk a barstool. Worth it.

I ordered a margherita pizza and to my surprise it was kind of the opposite of what I was expecting. Idk if they just do things different here or if the chef who prepared it made it wrong on purpose but it was still delicious just not what I wanted.

Plenty of parking, great food, great service. They also have a great selection of margaritas! I mean, what else can you really ask for in a restaurant? The perfect pizza place is right here. The crust could be crispier but not a deal breaker for me. The pizza was so good. It was gone in 60 seconds so no pics sadly but I’ll be back.

We had a wonderful dining experience! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh and so flavorful. We chose to sit outside, and the outdoor seating area was relaxing and perfect for enjoying a nice meal. Our waitress was incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our time there. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the great service!

Stumbled upon this place because the restaurant we planned to go to was closed, and we were so impressed! The wait staff was super attentive, food was delicious, and we didn't sit outside but it looked like their outdoor dining space was gorgeous. I got the L'umina pizza and I swear it was even better heated up for leftovers the next day. Such a cool menu with really innovative flavor combinations! We'll definitely be back.

Had lunch on the weekend here wasn’t too busy it’s seat yourself so we sat and the waiter came over relatively quick and got our orders we didn’t have to wait to long for the pizza and the waiter was very nice and checked in often. The pizza was delicious both of the ones I tried this was my second time going and it was even better than I remembered 5/5 fantastic.

Just had some french fries couple beers but it was nice to relax after Friday the blonde bartender girl was great really nice. I’d recommend anyone in the area come down and check it out everybody have a blessed day reviews by Larry is out

I recently went here for dinner and it far exceeded my expectations! Looking at the pizzas, I was ready for crackery, crunchy crust, but I was pleasantly surprised that there was actually some nice chewiness! My husband got a sausage and pepper pizza and I got a pear, caramelized onion pizza without the prosciutto to be vegetarian. They also had some good looking salads- one even had manchego with a quince dressing which I thought sounded unique. Their Christmas decorations were also cute.

Our go-to for pizza and watching sports. All the staff are friendly and attentive. Nice selection of beers.

I love the Max & Leo's in Newton for the easy access but the quality has been a little inconsistent over the past few times we've ordered pick-up from there, with the most recent visit the dough being super thick, almost Detroit-style. The Max & Leo's in Chelmsford had some of the best pizza I've had in a while. This location also has a lot more seating, plenty of parking, and more menu options - so I suppose I'll have to make the trek out here more often. We ordered the Jero's Pineapple and the L'Enza to share among six hungry post-race people; definitely could have ordered one more pie. Jero's Pineapple is my perennial favorite; I will not stand for anti-pineapple on pizza slander. The L'Enza was also extremely tasty, with mushrooms and beautifully seasoned Italian sausage. I had to get some greens into my body and the mixed mesclun salad far exceeded my expectations for a salad - it had caramelized pears and roasted peppers with a light dusting of pecorino. They were nice to split the order into two plates for me and my husband. Food came out promptly. Would definitely come here again.

How have I never heard of this place until now!!! Great spot for food and drinks. Let me start with what every other reviewer raves about... the mozzarella sticks !!!!! The picture while great does not do justice. These are quite literally the best mozzarella sticks I've ever had. The combination of pesto, marinara and balsamic are like heaven on earth. Not only are those great but we got a spicy Hawaiian pizza, chicken fingers and a salad and all were perfect! Crispy chicken fingers if you like that and a great side of honey mustard. Blueberry martini is a must and the whole staff was so sweet!

Met some wonderful friends here on a recent visit to MA. I have my usual spots to visit, but I was encouraged to try something new and glad I did as I was pleasantly surprised. Just got a simple mushroom and pepperoni pizza and definitely enjoyed it. Will go back next visit for sure!

This is a great place for pizza. Much better than your average pizza joint. Well worth it. The staff are always helpful and professional. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It is our new favorite place.

So darned yummy! It's a bit pricey so we don't go as often as we would like but the food is fresh, hot, and tasty. The bar is marginal, they struggle with cocktails on their menu!

We went to Max and Leo's in Chelmsford as we are always looking for good pizza in the area. We were very disappointed on the experience there. Entering the place is very chaotic as the sign upon entering says please seat yourself. Of course there were no tables available when we arrived. So we just stood there looking in very crowded entrance with not ever being acknowledged by staff. On top of that there were many people coming in and out for takeout and they were annoyed with us for just standing there. After 15 minutes someone finally acknowledged us and said it would be soon when a table would open. Well, 15 minutes later it did. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the server to come. We had the Lenza pizza and it was very tasty but it was undercooked in the middle. The drinks were good but after our rough start we couldn't wait to leave. Won't be back.

Visited for a fundraiser for a friend's son baseball team. We got 2 pizzas and the mozzarella sticks. We got a margarita pizza. OMG! This was my favorite! Sauce was so good. Perfectly seasoned. We also got one with pears, ricotta, and prosciutto. We really enjoyed this as well. Mozzarella sticks were amazing! Will most likely be back, but it kills me that a pizza is $20 minimum now.

the pizza is definitely worth it if you're outside of the city for whatever reason anyone is ever in chelmsford ma this place is worth a stop

Love the food...drinks OK but service is severely lacking! Everyone is pleasant enough but when the place is not at all busy and I have to continuously call my server over (multiple times for same thing), then turn around and see 3 wait staff chatting at the end of the bar, it's a big NO! I have been here 3x over past 2 mos and same deal! Sad but probably won't last if this continues

Today was our first time here and it won't be our last! The server was very friendly and efficient. The mozzarella sticks were out of this world! They were (I'm guessing) house made on a bed of amazing marinara and drizzled with pesto and balsamic We got the Juliann pizza. It had sopressata , roasted red peppers and jalapeños.I haven't had pizza this good in literally years!

The food is very good, but the service is lousy. My wife and I came here tonight and had to wait forever to get drink and our food order Yes, it was crowded, but waiting and reminding our server for our drinks after 15 minutes was a bit ridiculous. They need to hire more servers behind the bar to pick up the slack.

Went to Max & Leo's today and had the most amazing experience. Colene was absolutely amazing!! I cannot say enough about her and her service. She 100% made this experience what it was. The food was delicious, we had the homemade mozzarella sticks, Caesar salad and a cheese pizza. Food is always delicious but this service was best I've had in a lot of places lately.

We came for lunch thinking of a quick bite, ordering one buffalo chicken pizza, which wouldn't show up. Three other tables were seated after us, and they all started getting food (one table had multiple pizzas and plates). Finally after like 30 minutes we just asked for the check and left. The waitress acted like she did us a favor by taking the pizza off our check. There was no apology for taking too long. Not even bothering with any excuses like they had trouble chasing down a buffalo or chicken. Coincidentally we were the only non-white table. Could that be the reason for the lack of service? We won't go there again to experiment. Non-white patrons, take this as a data point.

Update to add that they've started free Thursday night trivia, it was a good time and looking forward to going again!

By far the best coal fired pizza in the Chelmsford area. Thin crust and well done with high quality ingredients. Last visit we ordered BBQ Chicken Nachos as an appetizer. They were some of the best nachos I've had and the portion size was so large we decided we couldn't eat anything else. Another favorite is the Honey Habanero Wings. The wings were a good size while still being tender. The honey habanero glaze was a great mix of sweetness and heat and the wings had a great char. Great menu and there are so many things we'd like to try. Everything we have ordered has been excellent. Looking forward to coming back!

This experience is based on take-out. It's actually pretty nice in here, I would like to dine-in once my training is over. I ordered a pepperoni pizza for my niece and bbq chicken for myself. My family didn't like the pizza because they said it's burnt and tasted as such. The waitress did say it would take about 15 minutes. That being said, I enjoyed the first sweet, delicious slices but then the burnt taste started to kick in. I don't think the price paid for burnt pizza was worth it, but I'll give it a second chance at some point.

Best Pizza In Or Around Chelmsford. I was holding off writing this review until after I could compare with Joanies. Max and Leo's is without question the best Pizza in the area. Everything about their pizza's are fantastic: perfect crust, excellent sauce, plentiful delicious cheese, lots of super fresh and flavorful toppings, cooked to perfection. And you can order and pickup within a half hour. I don't want to turn this review into why Joanies doesn't rise to the hype; suffice to say that Max and Leo's is without question THE BEST.

Delish, a little pricey. Pizza is so freaking good, everyone is always so nice. Can't wait for the nice weather to eat outside !

Our go to pizza place and also for yummy salads and sloppy Joe's. The pork tacos are delicious. There are no desserts but usually we leave too full for one anyway. The service is attentive; it can get loud. There are many tables and booths and many tv's as well as a bar. The outdoor seating is great when the weather is cooperating. Overall this is a reliable and reasonable place for a tasty meal.

Two stars because the chicken piccata was tasty. There was a hair in my pasta, same color as the server and my server could have cared less that I was there and had me wait too long, way too long to pay my tab. it has been a while, at least 15 years since service was so poor anywhere. The menus were sticky and the table was dirty, too. I am local to this place and really enjoyed it in the past. Do better, I know you can because you have.

Pizza was good - we had kids with us so just got toppings that would fit their palette. Pizza is made in a brick oven and comes out quickly. We got there and seating was anywhere we chose. Felt like it took a little bit of time for someone to get our order started but once done service was attentive and quick. We got the arugula salad, pick our own toppings pizza and chicken piccata. We didn't care too much for the piccata(I would like it more lemony or more capers) but everything else was good.

Went to the Chelmsford location Giving this place a second chance after the last fiasco here but low and behold we got the same moron waitress, same problem happened she put in my girlfriends order and forgot to put in mine and was so incompetent that she didn't even realize it till my girlfriend was done with her meal and noticed I hadn't received mine.Never again if she did this to the same person twice in 6 months I would bet the farm she does this multiple times or regularly either she's one of the owners wives or is unfireable.

This is my second favorite pizza joint in North Chelmsford. Coal fired ovens are not common and can reach 1,000F, whereas wood/gas are around 600-700. The high heat produces an amazing char. The tomato sauce was a perfect balance of sweet & tang. They simultaneously run a full gourmet restaurant and take-out service. Half their pizza's probably go out the door, and it's not that big of a place. They had 12 employees working when I picked up my order around 7pm. Place was packed, but staff was really organized. I think they're reasonably priced for the quality.

Food taste like shit and like really bad do not go here. Waiters not nice. Not clean.

Really good pizza; service is very good at times and other times it's poor! In my situation waited legit 10-15 minutes just to get seated, then literally waited 25 minutes for a waitress to come take our order, place was busy but not that busy for the circumstance. Went back another time, and the manger or owner was like you were the guy that waited forever to get seated and serviced, thanks for coming back, but no complementary appetizers or discount on order. A bit disappointing. Sometimes they try & get too creative with the items, when serving what you have is good enough. I really think overall they have good pizza, prices are a little high. Only concern, pizza tastes better eating there then when you bring it home. Nice feel to the place with the bar and the outside patio area. I don't mind going back but I get similar pizza for less around the corner. Kids like it so we go there with them. We like the Artisan Pizza the specialty corn & the Arugula Salad!

We go here often. The food is excellent and of high quality. Pizza, salads and buffalo chicken tacos are our favorites. Can't go wrong here, eat-in or takeout. Awesome.

The food was phenomenal. Something we enjoyed was the buffalo chicken nachos. Everything was more than solid. The service was pretty fast and everyone was nice. There was a great cozy vibe. There was a bar too.

Nice little place in the center of town off a busy st and circle. Located in a plaza so there will be plenty of parking. Food was not bad , we had meat balls with cheese and a extra cheese pizza. The seating outside was ok but between loud people and the cars, the place can be noisy outside. So be prepared lol , nice place to watch cars going by also ,lol - 1 star "service " I felt the service could be slightly better , mix drinks take a little while to get. Overall not a bad place to eat. Looking for a place to grab a drink and have some pizza. Give this place a try, roll the dice, be adventurous, take a chance your experience may differ!

Ordered takeout tonight went in to pick up the food the atmosphere was great deff will return for drinks and food with the family. Pizza was good not to over cooked mozzarella sticks were crunchy but needed a little salt what was cool was it came with not only marina sauce but pesto and balsamic as well which is different overall would come back for dine in

This place is a great addition to Chelmsford - they definitely needed a more upscale pizza restaurant. It's a lot smaller inside than I pictured (not sure why, since it used to be a Friendly's) but even on a weekend night, there was no wait. I am pleased they have gluten free crust! I added some honey bbq drizzle for extra flavor and I'm glad I did! The other people I was with got a vegetable pizza and said it was delicious. Service was fast and friendly... we were in & out within about 40 minutes. I recommend this spot if you want to try a new type of pizza.

pizza flavor overall is pretty nice, maybe the sauce is a little sweet. but it's cooked to a nice degree. burnt a little bit tho in some spots. ambiance eating outside is nice. staff is nice and on time.

Ordered two pizzas here the other day. Both came out burnt and tasted bitter. Not okay since the pizzas are not cheap here. I would rather eat frozen pizza next time!

Got take out and their "The Mikey" which is basically a pepperoni pizza. Great thin crust pizza and now I regret not getting their more speciality pizzas. Probably the best service I've had for take out. I was given a table and a glass of water while I waited for the pizza and the staff had the pizza expedited since I walked in and ordered it. Would definitely come again considering the great service and the impressive outdoor seating area.

went Max and Leo's today and were met with three "sorties": 1) dont make bloody Mary's there despite having a 100' long bar 2) asked for a simple side salad but could not have that either. they would only offer full dinner salads that start at $14 per salad 3) and lastly and probably the most difficult to swallow (pun intended) could not order any pizza for another hour because every day at this time they are cleaning their ovens. wow! what ever happened to pleasing the customer.

Ordered the Arugula salad and The Brooksy (while olive oil pizza, grilled chicken, caramelized onions, wild mushrooms, marscapone, and Mozzarella cheese. Very lovely place to sit inside or out. Service was awesome and there's plenty of parking.

This place tops ALL pizza joints in Chelmsford. The pizza is stellar and the drinks are delish! Very cute establishment. The thing that really won me over was my server named Alex. She was the sweetest, most accommodating, and let me tell you - BEAUTIFUL- employee I have come across at a restaurant in a long time. I'll be sure to head back there to see that smile again! Strong drinks, good laughs, great pizza, BETTER MEMORIES! You'll be missing out if you don't head on over to Max n Leo's soon!

Today was our first time at Max and Leo's and we will definitely be coming back! First, the atmosphere is great and they have covered outdoor seating. Inside was really cute too. The service was quick and you can tell that they really care. The owner/manager was serving/cleaning tables and would check in to make sure we were all set. The pizza was really great too! Crispy crust with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Overall, it was a really great dining experience and we cannot wait to go back and bring our friends!

This place has the most amazing mozzarella sticks anywhere on earth. They're so big they need to be eaten with a fork, and come with a special Max and Leos sauce. The staff is friendly and the outdoor seating has a permanent cover and excellent flower decorations

Had the meatball appetizer which was good. Also enjoyed the espresso martini I ordered. Had a large Mikey pizza which was good little crispier than I like but that's the risk with the coal fired pizza. Atmosphere is rough here because it's so small and compact inside. You feel like your on top of the people at tables next to you. But for a quick bite and drink it works. Just wouldn't plan on hanging here for a while.

Delicious! Got takeout and it was ready on time--just 15 min wait on a Saturday night. My husband and I just moved to the area after living in Boston for a decade--what a relief to have found delicious high quality ingredient pizza!
