No frills quintessential Chinese bakery. Staff is friendly and quick, they speak English, Spanish, Mandarin and some Cantonese

Very quick and the cashier was efficient. Food was really good and I will definitely come again in the future.

First time here, was suggested by colleague at work. good coffee, fresh cinnamon roll ($1.50) was good and a nice already made chicken sandwich($2.50) I will be back.

Posting an updated review. Come here often to Max Bakery for it is a family favorite. Reasons why? -it's near the train station. Grab your bun and go up the stairs to the 90th Street train station to take the 7 train. -Reasonable prices. -Fish sandwich are currently $3 bucks. Size has not changed like some of other shops. -Lots of buns have gone down in price. Now $1.25 As you walk in door. You are greeted by friendly staff. There is an area that you can sit and eat after purchase. Will be back here again for sure.

This place rules. Really cheap, affordable baked goods--between $1.50-$2 for the most part, and after 5pm most of the baked goods are $1. They're all cute and individually wrapped. And then really cheap coffee, and bubble tea with boba, too--I think between $2-3, with your fun standard flavors like mango, taro, etc. Also chicken sandwiches and fish sandwiches for $3, which is wild.

I'd highly recommend their fish sandwiches from here! They're often displayed on a tray up front and it's usually the first thing you'd see upon walking in along with their chicken sandwiches. Max Bakery is incredibly popular with locals and is the usual grab-and-go breakfast spot to grab some bread, buns, cakes, coffee or a milk tea before work. They're open early in the morning and the staff working here are really nice. There is ample seating and the bakery is located steps away from the 7 train. Best of all, everything is incredibly inexpensive. Highly recommended if you're looking for cheap eats!

Really solid tasting Pineapple buns with a flavorful and nicely crumbly streusel on top. The dough has a nice texture with a slight buttery flavor too. I also bought a coconut cream bun which wasn't as good with the dough being a bit overcooked and dense and the cream was a bit bland.

It is unbelievable that there is a decent Asian Bakery in this neighborhood. Lot of standard baked items to chose from and they discount them after 5pm; 3 buns for $2.00. The takeout food is 3 selections with rice or noodles for $5.00 from a steam table and a cup of soup A good deal! Drawback is they have the same items everyday. It gets crowded during supper time.

Great place for delicious Chinese pastries. They have hot tea, coffee, and other beverages! I really like the lady who worked there. She told they are open 5:30 am until 10 pm. I ordered a small hot coffee with an egg, ham, lettuce bun which was really fresh. I could taste the crunch of the lettuce. I also ordered an almond twist which was crispy and light. It is not easy to find, but you can enter on 90th Street nearby the train 7 train exit at 90st. Wow! I am so going back.

It's the one and only Chinese bakery near my apartment. Thank goodness for that. I moved from Chinatown to Jackson Heights. I need the occasional Chinese food that is not from a American Chinese place, ick. I need to a place to buy Chinese baos so thank goodness there is Max Bakery by the 7 train as I get off! I need the occasional hot dog bun, ham and egg bun, or Custard/Pineapple bun. They even have the pick "4 choices with soup" for $5 buffet that I am accustomed to in Chinatown. The ham and egg and chicken buns are very tasty here. The staff is very patient to explain what everything is. The bun variety is small but as far as taste goes, Max Bakery is much better than the bakeries by the Roosevelt Avenue subway station. It's too bad that Max Bakery doesn't sell baked roast pork buns or any steamed buns. I hope they expand their inventory to include these items one day. I have no where to buy steamed roast pork buns or steamed chicken buns near me. Sad face. The buffet food has been consistently delicious and fresh. I just wish they had more variety. It's almost all chicken. Kinda boring. choices. They just put up sneeze guards in front of the buffet. I just tried their chicken sandwich which is ground chicken meat that is seasoned and cooked into long patty. It is delicious! I can't wait to go back! Their strongest product is the ham and egg bun and the chicken sandwich. YUM.

I wish I had known about this bakery earlier! Best prices on Asian breads I've seen anywhere in NYC, you can get something to fill you up for under $3. I had the fish sandwich, and it was far larger than any fast food fish sandwich. It was a little soggy but that was probably because I went around 4pm. I will be back to try their breads in the early morning. I have been going to elmhurst/broadway for these types of bakeries but this one is far closer to where I live. I believe it is cash only.

6 mos later and this bakery is currently a "C" health rating from the previous B... the food is decent although I've only tried 2 sandwiches. They need to be cleaner and every establishment needs their Food Protection Certificate... perhaps they'd receive an A one day after takin the course.

The Bakery section is the main draw for me. Basic buns like hot dog and coconut and cream are $1, and buns with meat like a hefty chicken patty and ham and egg are $2, and imo they are better than some of these other bakeries around the area. I wish they had corn, ham, and mayo buns. They used to have a hot food section here, but it seems to have vanished some years ago.

The guy makes really good milkshakes!! Cheap and good. Come here so much never once a problem.

This is the best bakery in the area, environment is very clean, staffs are very nice.and most importantly , the food is awesome. Definitely worth trying it out..!!!

It is located not far from railway station. Staffs are very nice！Sandwiches and bakeries are very delicious that each of us bought one more for breakfast. Milktea is really made from tea and milk. I would highly recommend this tasty and cheap store！

went there for couple of times. Food were good, pp were friendly to u. can't find any better place nearby other than this one. Overall excellent quality and descent price!

Solid 5 for me , you can eat breakfast here every single day and it wouldn't hurt your wallet or your mind.

The breads are over baked. They are dark and dry compare with other Chinese bakeries. The service is somehow rude. I didn't finish my order and the lady was going ahead make a coffee. I wanted a coffee with regular milk and she put half and half in. I won't come back again.

Their buns are ok but I like their sandwiches a lot, especially the fried fish sandwich. I did have their four choices dishes once and the food was not as salty and oily as the other Chinese restaurants, which I appreciate a lot! The staff is always very friendly to me, too.

My fave go-to place right near the subway! They had really nice and chill peeps workin here. Tried out their pastries- soooo effin good! Love the red bean pasty. Go for their drinks too!
