Ma’Xanab Tulum | Best places to stay in Tulum

"The Ma’Xanab takes the hammock-slung, thatched hut, toes-in-the-sand formula that made Tulum a backpacker beach legend in the 1990s and turned it chic beach-boutique. Rooms in polished concrete and lush hardwoods sit in two-story cabanas. The best are on the upper floor – brighter and airier, they sit under towering palm-weave roofs and are adorned with carefully-placed wall mirrors and Mexican ceramic objets d’art. Wall-high windows with drapey linen curtains open onto plunge-pool balconies with jungle or palm-tree-and-ocean views. The hotel has a modest pool and a good restaurant serving Mexican comfort cooking. There are many more options within a 15-minute walk. Adults only. " - Alex Robinson

Nothing short of spectacular. The service was so attentive. For fear of leaving someone out the staff was incredibly warm friendly and attentive. We travel extensively (my wife is a GM for a luxury boutique hotel) and can not recall ever receiving such outstanding service. The rooms are rustic elegance, clean, big well appointed , two showers. The outside shower just right. The plunge pool such a nice touch , though it was not really warm enough to enjoy. ||The Restaurant was absolutely outstanding in all respects. We were there 5 nights and I thoroughly enjoyed a different included gourmet breakfast every day, plus delish lunch and dinner. You really don’t need to eat anyplace else.||The Ma x’anab is chill elegant. There are no tvs . There is excellent WiFi. Not to nitpick but the pool could be heated. If you want to join the ruckus party scene it can be e found just down the beach. If you want an all around spectacular experience this is the place. Thx to the whole staff for the wonderful experience.

Me and my girlfriend had the best experience here. The rooms are super beautiful and cozy. You can't ask for much more in terms of location, you're only a few steps from the beach. Shoutout to Paulina and Armando at reception. They were extremely helpful in helping set up activities and excursions for us and making sure we had everything we needed. Also a big thanks to Luis, Leo and Milo at the beach club who treated us like royalty and made sure our experience was unforgettable. We would absolutely recommend this place and will definitely be returning.

This is a stunning hotel right on the beach in Tulum. It’s a boutique hotel with only 16 rooms and feels incredibly private and secluded. ||The hotel has one restaurant on property that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is exceptional, really good variety of Mexican and also American food. It’s all high quality. Cocktails are also 10/10. ||The most important thing that makes this hotel is the staff. They are extremely attentive, polite and knowledgeable on the hotel but also other places to eat and drink along the beach. The staff were always smiling and never made anything feel like too big of an ask. Every single staff member we interacted with was exceptional.

Me and my fiancé are in love with this hotel. We were treated excellently from|start to finish by Fabiola, David and their awesome team of hotel staff. The room, food and peaceful ambiance around the resort were excellent — and the location and view of the beach is unmatched. The front desk also helped us plan some touristy activities even prior to our arrival, allowing us to fully enjoy our experience in Tulum.||I really recommend Ma’xanab, and I am looking forward to coming back to this special place in the future.||It is really a gem in the heart of Tulum!

This is a place my family and I come to every year. It has always been all really good, so special recognition to the chef and service in the beach club which is always great. This year unfortunately the management made an unfortunate decision of hiring a quite unpleasant lady at the reception. Someone who is not customer service oriented and rather inviting us to go to the public beach should NOT work there. Big invite to the management of this place to better chose employees that should be welcoming/sales/customer oriented, for fairness to the rest of the staff who are amazing and should not lose customers for having the wrong person at the reception, keep in mind that there are many other beach clubs in Tulum.

Awesome beach club located near the new public access "Playa del Pueblo" with very good food and really excellent service from waiters at a normal price for a beach club, no cost for cabanas if you consume 500 pesos. They keep the area very clean and there is a 10% discount for Tulum locals. Adults only.

I had the great pleasure of staying at Hotel Ma'xanab (pronounced Ma-sha-nab for other English speakers) for five nights in November. I have been visiting Tulum for about 20 years, and have stayed in many types of places; this hotel is truly something special, and I could not recommend it more highly.||The service at Hotel Ma'xanab is unparalleled - equal or better than you'll find at any five star hotel. It is rare to find a place where every single team at the hotel is equally excellent - whether it's Paulina at the front desk, or Mario, Milo, Luis and Jose at the pool - you will be in excellent hands, among people who instantly feel like friends, and are dedicated to helping you have the best possible time in this beautiful, special place.||The food at the hotel is excellent local fare - fresh ceviche, great drinks, exactly what you should be eating. Don't come looking for milkshakes and deep fried food and you'll be fine (though they do have those too).||The pool is beautiful, cool, and in a great shaded location; the part of the beach the hotel sits on is very quiet (but not so quiet you'll get bored), and you'll always be able to find a beachfront cabana if you're a guest.||I stayed in what I think is the nicest room in the hotel, room 1 on the ground floor w/ the beachside private dipping pool - it was everything you'd expect and more. The facilities are luxurious, but not over-the-top - clean, cool, simple and just what you need when you're falling into bed after a hot day in the jungle.||Thank you to the wonderful team at Ma'xanab for an unforgettable stay - I will surely be back, and any solo traveler, couple, or small family looking for an authentic Tulum experience without any big waterslides will have an amazing time at this hotel.
