I had the great pleasure of staying at Hotel Ma'xanab (pronounced Ma-sha-nab for other English speakers) for five nights in November. I have been visiting Tulum for about 20 years, and have stayed in many types of places; this hotel is truly something special, and I could not recommend it more highly.||The service at Hotel Ma'xanab is unparalleled - equal or better than you'll find at any five star hotel. It is rare to find a place where every single team at the hotel is equally excellent - whether it's Paulina at the front desk, or Mario, Milo, Luis and Jose at the pool - you will be in excellent hands, among people who instantly feel like friends, and are dedicated to helping you have the best possible time in this beautiful, special place.||The food at the hotel is excellent local fare - fresh ceviche, great drinks, exactly what you should be eating. Don't come looking for milkshakes and deep fried food and you'll be fine (though they do have those too).||The pool is beautiful, cool, and in a great shaded location; the part of the beach the hotel sits on is very quiet (but not so quiet you'll get bored), and you'll always be able to find a beachfront cabana if you're a guest.||I stayed in what I think is the nicest room in the hotel, room 1 on the ground floor w/ the beachside private dipping pool - it was everything you'd expect and more. The facilities are luxurious, but not over-the-top - clean, cool, simple and just what you need when you're falling into bed after a hot day in the jungle.||Thank you to the wonderful team at Ma'xanab for an unforgettable stay - I will surely be back, and any solo traveler, couple, or small family looking for an authentic Tulum experience without any big waterslides will have an amazing time at this hotel.
