I wish I had captured more of the meal. This was our first time and we will definitely go back again. Their happy hour (really two hours 4 - 6) include $2.00 raw, fresh shucked oysters. After getting a taste for them while on Norfolk VA last week, I had to try them here. Yummy. The horseradish is amazing. I'm so so on the vinegar. The cocktail sauce is very good. That said, I only ate one oyster with all three condiments plus lemon on it. The oysters were delicious without the extras. Now, I had the pulled pork with BBQ Beans. Get ready to get messy. Amazing. Cheryl had the hamburger and she loves it. The sweet potato fries were perfection. Let's talk staff. Emily was our server. Such a sweetheart. The young man who brought our water, very sweet. And, the young man who brought our food very nice. Then, as you know, I like to tell the manager when I love a place and their staff. Mattie is wonderful. Chatting with him was like chatting with a friend. Definitely a place we will visit again.

Google
Good food and service. We had apps mussels, chicken meatballs, and cold shrimp. First two were good, peel and eat shrimp was dull. Kids had good cheeseburgers. Adults had gumbo, jumbalaya, brisket, seared gulf shrimp, shrimp and grits. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The brisket aint no texas brisket, no smoke and no crust. More like a roast than bbq smoked brisket. Good cocktails. Shitty uncomfortable wood chairs with no cushion.

So I was excited about trying Maxie's for the 1st time. I regret to say I am highly disappointed!!! I'm not sure if it's because I ordered to go but for the amount of money that was spent I definitely expected better. 1.) The wings were burnt & dry as if they were either refried or cooked in old grease. 2.) The gumbo also tasted scorched bland and had a heavy layer of oil on top. 3.) The greens were tough and tasted really sweet. 4.) The fried chicken was dry and bland. 5.) The seafood bake looked like complete slop & all the seafood inside was overcooked & tough. The only thing was even edible was the bread pudding, Macaroni & cheese and fried green tomatoes & even those items I rate at barely a 4 out of 10. Everything was bland overcooked and down right one of the worse food tasting experiences I've ever had. If your use to eating real quality creole style food with flavor please do not waste your time or money.

Will truly made our dining experience exceptional. From the moment we were seated, he was attentive, professional, and genuinely warm. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, made excellent recommendations, and checked in at just the right times without ever being intrusive. His positive attitude and attention to detail elevated the entire meal. Service like Will’s is rare, and he is a huge asset to this restaurant. We will absolutely be back and hope to be seated in his section again!

We hadn't visited maxies in a while so we decided it it long overdue we stopped in, first off the staff are friendly and they actually look like they want to here, the food was fantastic I got the pulled pork with slaw and beans, everything was great but the beans were just awesome, wifengor the oysters followed them with this big tasty pork chop, service was too botch and we will go back

Google
Decent spot for happy hour food and drinks! I tried their oysters and fried green tomatoes & the bartender made a great recommendation for a wine pairing. I tried the fried chicken dinner and thought it was solid even with the greens being on the sweeter side. The gravy on the potatoes has a strong flavor of sage or thyme and I didn’t care much for it but it still worked well with everything. I tried the new raspberry lemon pie and it was a great way to end the meal. Friendly, prompt service. Clean restaurant. Busy, lively vibe!

Google
The atmosphere was nice The menu was ok. I spent $40. Red Sangria which was decent. Crab cake, just ONE, which had good flavor and was light. Not too big. I also had fried green tomatoes which were fresh and cooked well The food was ok. The menu just didn’t have enough options for me. Drink menu also as far as specialty cocktails

Google
Everything we had was tasty, it seems like they use a corn meal coating for their friend chicken, its great if you have a craving for it. My wife got the shrimp and grits and while it wasn't we we were expecting we would definitely get it again. We enjoyed their hot sauce so much we bought a bottle.

Yelp
I went out to eat tonight with my dad and we had Emily as our server! Emily is a great server!! I go out to eat a lot and don't get very good service anymore. Emily was very sweet + friendly and very attentive! As a waitress myself I can truly appreciate top -notch service. She really made the experience great!!! Give this girl a raise she knows what she's doing!!!!

Yelp
The great: Maxie's cornbread is the best I've ever had. Fluffy, moist, packed with flavor. It didn't even need butter. The drinks are wonderful and very fairly priced. The food was also very reasonably priced considering the portions. The good: The outside patio is a great way to spend an evening having cocktails with friends. The bad: I'm not going to say the food was bad. It just wasn't very good. We had the jambalaya and the fried chicken entrees. The pressure fried chicken was touted as "voted best in Milwaukee".... Milwaukee, whoever decided on that designation shouldn't be allowed to give any dish "best" status. The chicken meat was bland, skin was not crispy. They must have fried earlier and held for service because it resembled no other pressure fried chicken I've ever had. In fact, it was the worst version I've ever had. Collard greens were ok and the mashed potatoes with gravy were the highlight of that plate. The jambalaya was just ok. It too, lacked flavor. The spice level was nice. But, overall a very sad version of jambalaya. It needed more thyme or oregano, and smoked paprika. I make this dish myself regularly and theirs pales in comparison. As a home cook, you'd expect a James Beard award winning restaurant to do it better. Overall, I'd go back for drinks. The food can stay in the kitchen.

Yelp
This is a fun place to go with a group, we really enjoyed our waitstaff while we celebrated a birthday. The people who ordered the fried chicken LOVED it, I've had the pecan-crusted trout and that was good, but my jambalaya was more tomato-y and less spicy than I personally prefer. I am probably not the normal demo for those tastes though.

Yelp
Very cool vibe with nice decor and tasty Cajun/soul food. Char grilled oysters were gumbo was very tasty and atmosphere and decor was very pleasant. Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
I thought this place was nothing special and overhyped to me by my friends. Here me out: The place was obnoxiously packed, which normally I don't mind but it seriously felt like they tried to stuff every single person they could in there. Our server (for lack of a better way of putting it) was quite pretentious, annoying and rude to us at our table. He acted like we should have known everything about the restaurant and the menu. It was very off putting. He also took a long time to get us our food. The food itself was very much average at best. The brisket was the most disappointing to me. It had too much smoke flavor and was tough to chew, meaning it was cooked hot and fast (not how you should cook a brisket). I don't think I will be going back and I wouldn't recommend this place to my friends.

Yelp
Made a recent return to Maxie's after quite the hiatus and it was as good as I remembered. My husband's company had their holiday party here, so the back half of the upstairs was reserved for the group. I didn't realize offered events like this, so great to know! There's a dedicated bar in that back area and both the bartenders were working hard to make all sorts of fancy cocktails for the group. I asked for an espresso martini, and they let me know they make their own version with cold brew. Whatever the version, it was delicious. For the party, they served big family-style dishes. I really loved the jambalaya and white cheddar mac n cheese. Everything on the menu screams southern comfort food (in a good way), and the overall vibe of the resturtant is super cozy. Be sure to book a rez, because it's always poppin' here!

Yelp
Maxie's did NOT lie when they said that they're home to Milwaukee's Happiest Happy Hour. FOOD: I ordered 12 oysters (half and half), a bowl of gumbo, and the Hurricane to start. The oysters were very fresh!! Delicious and beautiful presentation. I got half of the saltier oysters and I'm grateful I tried it. I won't be making it a habit. I guess I prefer sweeter oysters. The bowl of gumbo is solid. The roux (base of gumbo) is a nice darker hue. I prefer darker roux. In true Southern style, this gumbo has okra in it. And Maxie's does an excellent job of cooking the okra. The okra isn't slimey at all. The only element of the gumbo that I didn't really get much of was the crawfish. Then, I ordered the mussels. The mussels were delicious!! I love the sauce that it comes in. I think it's a white wine and lemon sauce. Mind you, all this seafood and a drink came out to $45. Not bad. I walked out stuffed. SERVICE: My waitress was Marianna. I arrived as a humble party of 1. Thankfully, I came at just the right time and was immediately seated. Today, they only had one shucker so the oysters took a lil longer to come out but truly it wasn't too long a wait. Marianna was a great waitress tho. Very attentive and gave updates. 10/10 would come here for happy hour again.

Yelp
I have been hearing about maxies for AGES now and have wanted to go!! Finally went and I'm sad to say I was quite underwhelmed. I will say the free cornbread is amazing though. I got the fried chicken that came with collard greens and i switched something out for cajun waffle fries. The fries were good, crispy and very cajun-y and the collard greens were overall good as well. The issue I had was just with how DRY the chicken was!! I know chicken breast are generally dry but even my other pieces weren't great. And they don't come with a sauce to get it a little less dry. Ended up taking it home to reheat and dip in sauce to avoid how dry it was. I will say that their cocktails are great though! Would come back for happy hour to try their $1 oysters and drinks!!

Yelp
Maxie's has a great happy hour! Love going here for oysters! It's always busy and good vibes inside.

Yelp
I called in advance for a 11 party graduation reservation and was happy they could accommodate us- they have a large upstairs area perfect for bigger parties! We went during their happy hour and indulged in some $1 oysters which were delicious!!! We had a whole bunch of different apps and entrees- the meatballs were divine and gumbo was smoky and flavorful! For entrees, all of us cleaned our plates; from the jambalaya to the sirloin steak! This place was wonderful! 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
The food at Maxie's is always good. The service is just as good. This is a restaurant to go with friends and be able to have a great conversation because the music isn't too loud.

Yelp
I've been to Maxie's multiple times over the years and they never disappoint! Most recently we had reservations to celebrate a birthday with dinner and drinks. There were some additional larger parties ahead of us but the wait was not too long. We were able to grab some seats at the bar until our table was ready. Since we don't visit too often, the menu is always new to me. While not exactly spoiled for choice, there are quite a few items to pick from as well as specials. Our party enjoyed fried clam strips, creole catfish, shrimp and grits and fried chicken. Everything tasted great and we all ate until there was no room left for dessert. Our waiter was wonderful, he and the other staff on the second level were very attentive to keeping our drinks full and making sure everyone was happy. I was very impressed since the staff were also tending the other 15 or so tables as well as a party of about 30. Zero complaints on service! It was a bit loud on the second level, but not as bad as the first floor. At the bar, I couldn't hear the people next to me talking, but that was not the case upstairs. One of my only complaints would be that not all wine is available by the glass. And it's not even expensive stuff. My mom is the only one who drinks wine, and she didn't order it because there's no way she can(or should) finish a bottle by herself. I'm not sure what the reason for that is, but it was a bit of a down moment in an otherwise spectacular night for dinner. For those that don't know, there's a large parking lot across the street, the lot next to the restaurant is handicapped parking. Street parking shouldn't be necessary, as it's generally a hassle.

Yelp
Amazing! I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time. I grew up spending summers in the south and weekends in New Orleans, so this menu is right up my alley. My friends had mussels for an appetizer. I'm not the biggest fan so I didn't try them but they really enjoyed them. They said they had a rich buttery flavor and seemed of good quality. The cornbread they bring to every table is perfect! Moist, perfect density, great flavor. I ordered the shrimp and grits. My friends ordered the fried chicken and jambalaya. Shrimp and grits 10/10. It packs a punch with a little spiciness and a lot of flavor. The jambalaya was good but not the best I ever had- 7/10. The fried chicken was so yummy! Crispy and flavorful. Heads up, the mashed potato's and gravy are yummy but the greens are unlike anything I've ever tried. They are very sweet- my friend saying they almost had a syrup flavor. I would skip those. Overall I'd give the chicken dish an 8/10. We had a few specialty cocktails- all yummy. Service was terrific! Portions were large.

Yelp
The ambiance is very nice. The service is okay. Our waiter was attentive. They brought out cornbread which was very cold, first time here so I asked was that how they served it..and the waitress wasn't clear if it was or wasn't... she said she would put under heat and brought back out and was still cold in middle. May have had a nice taste if was heated correctly Ordered Jambalaya which was good taste but lukewarm... the chicken nuggets were good no complaints lol the baked oysters were delicious. Crab cake was bland and lukewarm. The beef rib was good tender and seasoned. The greens were not good to me I do not like sweet greens and they were sweet. The drinks were good.

Yelp
Was very excited looking at the menu online. Unfortunately the actual menu wasn't the same - and not every dish hit the mark. Fried green tomatoes? Delish. Pork Confit flatbread? Delish. Mac and cheese with brisket? Nope. Brisket was extremely dry. Garlic butter seafood bake? Our friends ate a few bites and were not thrilled. To be fair I'm not sure exactly what they didn't like. Crab and corn chowder? Not like any I've ever had - I expected a mild soup and this was red and somewhat spicy. I didn't finish it. Service was good.

Yelp
Not your ordinary Wisconsin burger bar. Great New Orleans dishes with excellent beer and I was even lucky enough to have live music.

Yelp
First time going to Maxie's and was blown away at the food and service! Our server Raya was so amazing and sweet and hilarious, seriously made our night. We had raw and Nola oysters and they both were so fresh and flavorful. I'm a sucker for fresh shaved horseradish! The pulled pork Mac and cheese was to die for! So rich, creamy and the pork was so tender and savory. The arugula and corn salad was perfect to offset the heavy Mac and cheese and the dressing was incredible! Might try to imitate this salad at home:) Anyone who loves southern comfort food needs to hit this place up!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was amazing good flavor and still $1 dollar oysters during happy hour! Waiter kept on top of us and was very very good! We got there early so food was upon us very quickly! Atmosphere was pleasant and mellow easy temperament!

Yelp
Had a work dinner here and it is a mixed review. The place is nice decorated and was pretty crowded for a Monday night. We ordered a bunch of apps which were excellent. Baked oysters, pimento cheese, meatballs, and the corn bread was great. Service and cocktails were good. The main courses were just ok nothing spectacular. I had the jambalaya which was just ok. Someone else had the Mac and cheese with chicken again just ok. Definitely need to try something different the next time. Plenty of parking and the bar is large but it was packed when we got there. Service was good.
google avatar

Heidi A.

Yelp
I will go back to keep trying different dishes. All the ingredients and spices work together. I love these types of scratch kitchens. The greens have some sweetness and were amazing, the fried chicken portion is generous and the pulled pork mac and cheese were delicious! The coconut lemon cake was over the top. Only critique is the cornbread is sweet, cakes and cold. I'd love a warm, buttery, gritty bread instead.
google avatar

Peggy P.

Yelp
Oh how I love this place if only I lived in Wisconsin I love everything about it. I love the fresh seafood the bake goods, gumbo and desserts. I love that they have great specials and I would highly recommend it to anyone. You can find something great to eat here.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is incredible! Who knew there was great Cajun food in Milwaukee? Service was great and I had a really comfortable and quiet booth. I had the mussels that were excellent with French bread for dipping into the yummy mussel broth. I ordered the catfish and in between the mussels and the main, they brought out cornbread for noshing with fresh soft butter. The cornbread filled me up and i still had my main to go! I ordered the catfish Creole style and it was perfectly blackened with the awesome tomato-based topping. The plate also came with green beans, spinach, and a huge pile of red beans and rice. Needless to say, the portions are huge and I was unable to finish everything. I highly recommend Maxie's!
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
Visited Maxie's for the first time almost a month ago and I still can't get over how good the pecan crusted trout was! All of the food our table ordered was amazing, but the trout was a true standout. The service was great, despite being so packed (with good reason) and it's definitely a place I'd frequent, when in the mood for a good meal!
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
Wow I loved this place so much!! We came for happy hour, which features $1 oysters (such a good deal!). I also tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich and the Gumbo. It was all very flavorful! Service was quick, and I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
We got a reservation for 6:45pm on the Saturday before Valentine's Day. Got the reservation about a week early. Parking isn't obvious if the main small lot is full, but you'll find a spot a couple blocks away. We were seated immediately. The décor is a red and black theme, not gimmicky Mardi Gras besides that week. With chandlers and black and white curtains the place looks classy. Seating wise it's not quite tight nor it's not roomy either. They do have a second floor that I didn't visit. For just drinking they have a full bar, specially cocktails including a Tequila Old Fashion and 11 bar stools at the bar. The wait staff was quick and friendly. They did forgot to put an item in but took ownership of it right away, comped something and the extra wait wasn't long. In order of favorite to least favorite items -jambalaya - the flavor tastes pretty authentic and the meats were smoked were, shrimp soft -corn clam chowder- super good I want to try to make this -gumbo, smoky but not a ton of flavor -corn bread -chicken po boy, it was what it said and good but would have been better with a Cajun sauce instead of mayo, less sauce, and one side still closed -rice and beans kinda average
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
I had the beef brisket which was dried out. I am not a sauce user so maybe they anticipate people using sauce to mask the poor attempt at smoked brisket. Certainly get alot of fries which again maybe they hope you do not go hungry with the poor attempt at brisket. The only reason I was here was because my BarBq place was closed on Monday, DoubleB's on Greenfield Ave. I am also not into the fish/shrimp thing so maybe if you are the vittles would have been better. My friend had some shrimp crap that he seemed to like OK. Overpriced compared to DoubleB's for what I had and nowhere near the quality.
google avatar

Frankie B.

Yelp
We love Maxie's for their weekly happy hour and the amazing trout. Sometimes it gets a bit busy and the service can be a bit slow. The portion sizes were also excellent for the price, definitely a must visit for oysters in Milwaukee.

Yelp
We had friends in town from Green Bay, staying in Tosa and all met for dinner last night at Maxies. It was a fun evening, wonderful food, impeccable service. Loved the creative decor; very fun. We all agreed it was definitely worth another visit to try more menu items. I had one of the specials with venison medallions, potatoes and greens. It was amazing!
google avatar

Danielle G.

Yelp
Great place for happy hour ($1 off whatever you're drinking) or dinner! I wish the website menu had been correct because I was hoping for fried pickles and when we got there they didn't have them. However, the mojitos were good, appetizers were delish and the bartender was very friendly. Only complaint: it was a beautiful Friday evening and the patio was closed (the chairs were locked up!) and we really wanted to sit outside!

Lucas K.

Yelp
The pulled pork sandwich was dry and lacked flavor. The bun was soggy. The free cornbread was really dry and was bad unless you had butter on it. Server was nice and attentive.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Beautiful day to sit outside for Happy Hour. We enjoyed raw oysters, cocktails and dinner. It was all delicious. Our server was attentive, helpful and friendly. I'll definitely be back again.

Yelp
Great place to eat either a small meal or dinner they have the best oysters. They also have special specials, which I like, and the service is always very good.

Yelp
When in Milwaukee, there's no better place I'd rather have dinner!!! Bar none. I've been here about 5 times since I discovered it. The original reason I came here was that I wanted to try the oysters. My colleague with me at the time thought I was nuts. "Oysters in Milwaukee?!? Best case, it's going to be terrible, worst case you're going to get sick" He is very finicky about food, so wasn't sold on it but finally convinced him. Even "forced" him to try them. He was astonished and very please, as was I. Needless to say that I have oysters for my appetizer EVERY time I come here. No matter the selection, they are always awesome. Yes, I blow the budget on this meal every time, but what am I to do??? As for the waitress, they are always friendly and willing to accommodate any deviations I request on menu items, accoutrements, etc. Never any complaints about the staff. Great job! They do have outdoor in warm weather, but I have never been seated there. It might me reserved for larger parties. Usually, I'm having dinner on my own. The indoor areas are very eclectic and cool. Very down-home sort of feel to it. I have sat in the upstairs as well as downstairs. All very nicely "period" decorated. I eat here at least once (ok, only once) every trip I make to Milwaukee (mostly because of the budget ) even though I stay in the downtown area where there are also a TON of great places to eat. Sometimes I stay in Racine, but the trip here is well worth it. If you haven't eaten here and want to try something different, like awesome brisket, and other southern comfort foods, come here and be amazed!!

Yelp
We came for happy hour & stayed for dinner. The happy hour specials were great, bartender was friendly and we ended up staying for dinner & got the beef cheeks & grits (not pictured). We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Stopped by today for $1 oysters during happy hour. We ordered two dozen of them and also ordered the Cajun fries, white cheddar Mac & cheese, and the farmed catfish. The oysters were very fresh and did not taste fishy at all. The catfish was cooked perfectly but the side of beans, rice and veggies were just okay so I wouldn't order that again. Cajun fries and mac & cheese were tasty as well. Service was great and food came out relatively quickly. I'd definitely go back for the oysters and to try other dishes!

Yelp
"Are you kidding me", "wow", "I'm about to get violent", "I need to shake someone's hand" - All things I stated perhaps multiple times during my dinner at Maxie's. This was hands down, one of the best dining experiences I've had in Milwaukee since moving here 2 years ago. I was so impressed with the menu curation, and happy to see so many vegetarian options. Last night was the first time in my life I've been able to eat jambalaya, due to me not eating red meat. The vegetarian jambalaya, the oysters, the crab and corn chowder, the desserts, the fried green tomatoes, the CORNBREAD- ridiculously good. We're already planning our next dinner night, there's so much more I want to try. My only regret was not being able to eat more. I left that place with my stomach about to burst through my jeans- good thing they were stretchy denim!
google avatar

Torrie B.

Yelp
Dinner out with a friend! We were both in the mood for margaritas, oysters, and fried green tomatoes. Maxie's does all of those items extremely well. She ordered the ribs and I had the fish fry. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish fry. Their Maxie's hot sauce on the table was the perfect accompaniment for the fish. The place was packed so glad we had a reservation. Our waiter was kind and swift. Price was fair as well. Enjoy!

Yelp
Food has gone down. This use to be my favorite place. My friend and I didn't live our food. It wasn't good. Excellent customer service. Person who bright my food had his thumb in my plate.

Yelp
I've lived in Milwaukee for way too long to admit that I've never been to Maxie's before last weekend!! As an avid seafood lover, my husband was even more stoked when he previewed the menu online after a friend suggested we go! We had reservations for a Friday night couples date night, and would definitely recommend making a reservation. They had two groups of 10+ when we were there, and tables fill up quick, even with two floors of seating! There was a full bar on the 2nd floor, so of you're cool snagging a seat at the bar, that would be a good option too. Our server Andrew was awesome, and explained that they are a scratch-made kitchen, and talked up their specials since they were super unique. We opted for Nashville hot nuggets, corn/crab chowder and the pork confit flatbread as apps for the group. The chowder eats like a meal if you get a bowl for sure, it was delicious! Hot nuggets weren't as memorable for me, too much breading. Flatbread was a knock out, will totally order that again on future visits! Our friend ordered the Jambalaya for dinner, it's his go-to, and for good reason! Huge portion (hello, leftovers) and amazing spicy yet flavorful dish. The remainder of the table ordered off the specials menu - the Red Deer Pasta and a Seafood Stew. The red deer was from a local farm, and you'd have no idea it wasn't a red wine braised beef dish!! The homemade parpadelle was so light, as any good homemade pasta should be, and the dish was craveable! The Seafood Stew was a giant bowl of 4 types of seafood served in a tomato saffron sauce, and the bread for dipping was the winner to complete that dish for sure! Glad I ordered off the specials menu, but can't wait to go back to try some of their staples; especially want to stop in for their everyday oyster happy hour 4-6! Keep doing your thing Maxie's, I can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
Not our first time at Maxie's and definitely won't be our last. We came for the $1 oysters happy hour deal and decided to pair it with a cup of corn chowder and shrimp and grits. The corn chowder and cornbread combo is a must! Very happy with the service and overall experience.

Yelp
Arrived early for happy hour on a recent Friday. Started with shrimp cocktail on a bed of ice. The shrimp was cooked perfectly , firm, coated with a tasty spice. The bartender was friendly, talking with us about the shrimp and Vespalic family story. We ate upstairs after five and were overwhelmed by the service, Jeff, as we were one of two tables. The Vespalic Manhattan was seriously different and great. Ribs, brisket and more shrimp were awesome. We needed to take some of the sides home. We came casual but believe later being dressed up is ok.

Yelp
It's been nothing but love for Maxies for a long time now. It's my favorite date night for many years. It's got this intimate vibe that makes you feel all Sopranos and shit. It's not Italian....that's not what I mean. It's red and black with this secret type of energy. That's what I'm talking about. Sitting upstairs always feels like royalty. You can have true jambalaya and you can have the vegetarian version too. They start you with homemade cornbread. You can have wings from the smokehouse with a breading and sauce that will give you the perfect kick in the pants every time or you can have the tofu version and also get your trousers lit. My friends enjoy the fish and the chicken. I enjoy the tofu plate. That BBQ sauce is so flavorful it must have simmered Lionel Ritchie style, I'm talking all night long! I recommend you eat here if you're a vegetarian, a meat loving fool or a pescatarian. You will not be disappointed. During the pandemic you can get take out or make reservations. That's special. Back in the day you could call to put your name on a list for a spot, but not an actual res. What you waiting for. Get in here.

Yelp
The food was amazing and our server Daniel was great The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is that it was my wife's birthday and I put that in open table when I made the reservation and they said and did nothing

Yelp
Not exactly what you expect on a corner in outer Milwaukee, but a great stop for oysters. Everything else left me a little "meh" but those oysters are the best I've had outside of New Orleans, and I'd order about 20 next time! The NOLA Grilled Oysters are a MUST! As for the Pork Cheeks, they were decent, but the flavor was a bit bland overall, even when adding together all the different components. I'd skip this, and try another dish for a main.

Yelp
Great food, great service. I was visiting my Aunt for her 85th birthday and they rook me here. I had a fantastic Reubens, and the next time, chicken tenders. The service was great. Each time our waitress was always there, but not smothering, and when my Goddaughter ordered, she had some dietary restrictions and they were glad to accommodate her. Next time I visit, I know where I want to go.

Yelp
What a find!!!! Run don't walk to Maxie's, you won't regret it. Everything was amazing - coupled with excellent customer service.l- Sagalle S was amazing. The bar is serving these drinks! Yes yes yes - we arrived just after 7pm and the fish fry was all sold out so plan accordingly. This is fun at the bar or at a table....go!

Yelp
4.5 stars. I've been here a few times before and I've enjoyed it every time. Tonight I was in with a friend for dinner. We split an order of the fried green tomatoes which I thought were delicious- nice and crispy and the sauce that came with them was wonderful. Generous portion. I also had the corn and crab soup which was flavorful but a little light on the crab. It also could have been served a little hotter. Maxie's has my favorite Mac and cheese...I think it's the best I've ever had, so I ordered a side of that and it did not disappoint. The cornbread with honey butter topped off a delicious meal. I also had two of the Maxie's old fashioned's. Very good drinks- the second was a little too strong and I had to ask them to add a bit of soda...can't complain about a "too strong" drink. Service was very nice- our waitress was very nice and patient with us as my friend and I talked for a long time (catching up) before putting our order in and we didn't feel rushed at all. Overall it was a great experience and I cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
Always great. I only wish I ate there more often, but Milw is filled with great places. Maxies reminds me of the Cajun south and you will enjoy, regardless of what you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
