"Max’s Takeout, Loop. Every calorie is worth it at Max’s. From veggie burgers to Chicago dogs, Max’s is easily the best takeout in the Loop and an easy favorite. Established in 1984, their location is the oldest in the Loop, and has been a hot dog stand since 1962. Be ready with your order because the lines won’t wait and whatever you do, don’t ask for ketchup on your dog."

"The Loop: Max’s Take Out, a popular downtown spot for cheap favorites like hot dogs, Italian beef, and gyros, permanently closed in February after 30 years in business, ownership writes on Facebook. “To our regulars, those who traveled to Chicago for vacation or business and shared a bite with us, to the students, our neighbors, City Hall staffers, nearby workers - thank you,” the post reads. “Thank you for picking up a brown greasy paper bag and coming together with us.”" - Naomi Waxman

It is a warm and friendly mom-and-pop shop. Recommended by several local staff from different shops around the Chicago Loop area. They also mentioned Luke's, Portillo's, (a chain) and Maxwell. Max's was closest to us. We ordered the regular hotdog and the polish dog. Both were delicious. I love all the ingredients on it except the pepper (check pic for ingredients). The sausages has a good crunch to it when you bit into it. Every bite was a delight!.

This is currently my favorite spot to get a quick lunch during work. The service is fast, the food is hot and the prices are reasonable. Ordered a chili cheese dog and chili cheese fries. There is no such thing as too much cheese. Will return.

don't let their storefront size fool you! when I asked a local where the best Chicago dogs were, she said Max's! she wasn't kidding!

I’ve been coming here for many years and they have maintained the quality and friendliness. One of the best halal cheese burger and fries in the city. Everything is fresh, the beef is juicy and their hotdogs stay true to Chicago standards. Their grilled chicken sandwich is good too. I like it with extra mayo. Plenty of seating available. It gets busy during typical lunch hours but their operation is quite fast and efficient.

This place was recommended by a Chicago native. I asked for a good Chicago dog, and definitely found it here! The staff was helpful and engaging. The hot-dog was freakin incredible! It did not disappoint to the legend of a Chicago dog! I highly recommend this place as a stop. It's conveniently close to the Art Institute.

Never have I ordered from Max's and not received fresh, hot, FAST, food accompanied by excellent customer service. I was immediately impressed by the genuineness the guys behind the counter have. Each time I go, I feel as if I just picked up a plate from my favorite uncle who loves to make unhealthy food that is simply...irresistible.
