San Diego’s Best Filipino Restaurants | Eater San Diego

"Fried chicken headlines the menu at this Filipino chain, but it’s unlike the fried bird you may be familiar with. Max’s fried chicken is not breaded so you get flavorful crispy skin hiding succulent meat underneath. Don’t skip out the banana ketchup dipping sauce, either. Recommended sides include garlic fried rice plus sinigang, a hearty tamarind soup served with your choice of pork or shrimp." - darlene-horn

"A long-running Filipino chain whose moist, crunchy fried chicken helped launch a multi-location empire; the classic preparation is double-dredged and double-fried, usually served with a simple brown gravy for dipping and often accompanied by American-influenced sides." - Matthew Kang

Google
Ramir helped religiously on ensuring I was assisted and cared for in my experience. Chicken Adobo did not feel authentic and I was not a fan of the full dish. From flavor to texture to quality of chicken. The Milkfish was my most favorite. That was crispy, flavorful and presented with great colors. Garlic fried rice was not the best I’ve had. I would say that the garlic was diced and not rich in flavor. I was to assume full garlic cloves smashed and charred. Bringing out the flavors and also the visuals. Crabmeat fried rice is not as good as expected either. I would say both rice options were a solid 5 out of 5 for me. The Milkfish was a great 9.5 (not sure about the pickled garnish) I was hoping to have an amazing time here since this restaurant name is a very popular and liked Filipino Restaurant. It was very promising to begin with.

A Taste of Home: Max’s Restaurant Shines in Glendale! I'm thrilled to share my exceptional dining experience at Max of Manila in Glendale, where the authentic flavors of the Philippines shone brightly! This hidden gem is a must-visit for foodies and anyone craving a taste of homegrown Filipino cuisine. From the moment we walked in, the attentive and courteous waiters made us feel welcome. Despite being packed on a Saturday lunchtime, the waiting time was reasonable, and the staff ensured our needs were met throughout our meal. Now, onto the pièce de résistance – the food! Max of Manila's menu boasts an array of mouth-watering dishes that will transport your taste buds to the streets of Manila. We indulged in some of their signature dishes, and each one exceeded our expectations. The crispy fried chicken, a crowd favorite, was cooked to perfection – juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The taro leaves, or "laing," were expertly prepared, showcasing the rich, earthy flavors of this authentic Filipino dish. The nilagang baka (beef soup) was a comforting, slow-cooked masterpiece that warmed our hearts and bellies. And the pork sisig? Absolutely divine! What truly elevated our dining experience was the personal touch from Master Chef Tobal, who graciously visited our table to ensure everything met our expectations. His passion for Filipino cuisine and dedication to excellence shone through in every dish. In short, Max of Manila is a culinary gem that will leave you craving for more. If you're a fan of Filipino food or just looking to try something new, do yourself a favor and visit Max of Manila. Your taste buds will thank you! Pro tip: Be prepared for a lively atmosphere, especially on weekends. But trust us, the food and service are well worth the visit!

This place is known for their Max's Fried Chicken it their classic Sarap-to-the-Bones Fried Chicken made with a unique blend of spices and golden fried to perfection. They suggest to dip it in its trademark blend of banana ketchup, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce and their not kidding it taste great with the mixture. It give you a sweet and spicy clover to the chicken. The ski was nice and crispy and the chicken was juicy and tender inside. It was really fried to perfection. I got their whole chicken and it was enough to fill me up. I also got their Calamansi juice, which is like a sweet lime juice drink, nice and refreshing. Highly recommend the chicken

Google
This is a great Filipino restaurant known for its chicken. The shrimp pancit was really good, but needed more shrimp. Pork chopsuey was good, maybe a bit salty. We were part of a larger group, 40+ advanced reservation. They accommodated us in an area off the main floor, but it was solely for us; not sure why, it wasn't busy or crowded, and the other small groups/families seated in the vicinity probably would have appreciated seating away from our group as the group was very loud. The service was excellent; always checking back, clearing dishes, bringing specialty condiments, and refilling drinks.

Google
I’ve been coming here for years and it’s still the best Filipino restaurant I’ve been too. It’s an excellent sit down with your whole family restaurant. We ordered the fried chicken(best in the world), kare kare(delicious with a side of bagoong), Bangus Sisig(rather than pork I recommend this & it’s really good) & Halo Halo(the best dessert to have to cap off a full Filipino dinner experience). Their new crispy sisig is good, they just added chicharon to make it crispy. Their adobo ribs were descent but chicken adobo will be their best. Parking is very limited during Saturday’s and Sundays after church. I recommend during the weekdays when it’s less crowded. Also walking distance from the Glendale Galleria.

Google
Came here on a referral from a friend. We came in a group, were seated and honestly. The customer service at the counter was great! But when we got to our table the waiters were not so great. They seemed to be annoyed helping us. Anyways on to the food. I was told their fried chicken was the star of their menu. Not! No flavor and blah. Tried all of the other dishes and meh. I drove all the way from Carson to eat at a place that was disappointing. I would have let the bad service at the table pass if the food was good but it wasn't. Don't waste your time.

Max’s Restaurant in Glendale, Los Angeles, offers a delightful dining experience with its blend of excellent service and charming ambiance. From the moment you walk in, the accommodating servers make you feel welcome and attended to, providing friendly and efficient service that enhances the overall dining experience. The design of the restaurant is reminiscent of a cozy cabin, with exquisite attention to detail that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The wooden interiors and tasteful decor give it a rustic yet elegant feel, making it a perfect setting for both casual meals and special occasions. The menu at Max’s is a celebration of Filipino cuisine, featuring a variety of classic dishes. The crispy pata and chicken inasal are standout favorites, known for their flavorful and authentic preparation. Each dish is cooked to perfection, reflecting the rich culinary heritage of the Philippines. Overall, Max’s Restaurant in Glendale not only offers delicious food but also a wonderful ambiance and top-notch service. It’s an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy a taste of Filipino hospitality and cuisine in a setting that feels both unique and comfortable.

Yelp
Chain Filipino restaurant but I would say it's authentic Filipino food. We had our food to go. It did not come with rice so you have to order rice. The sisig was delicious, its seasoning is a bit more wet than I'm used to but the flavor was there.

Yelp
Max's of Manila in Glendale is just a staple, truly! If you know, you know - this place has, without a doubt, the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life. It's not breaded, just fried wonderfully, with so much amazing flavor. Add a little banana ketchup to that, and it's just delicious! This location is super spacious, with tons of room, but heads up: on Sundays and holidays, especially after church, it can get really packed. So, definitely try to check in on the Yelp waitlist before you arrive to snag your spot as soon as you get there. There's free parking across the street at the mall, or you can valet right at the restaurant. I highly, highly recommend the fried chicken, obviously! Also, definitely try the fish sisig, which is also known as bangus sisig. And you absolutely have to get loads and loads of fried garlic rice. For dessert in the evening, sharing a halo-halo is the perfect way to end it. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
Valet parking, why? I can feel the pretentiousness overflowing. They have their own parking structure so what's the point Had to make an edit after then receipt. Ordered sinigang, crispy pata, max Chicken, and halo halo all for about $150. OVERPRICED. Better off going elsewhere. Food was mid but price was way up there.

Yelp
Stopped by here because we were in the area and wanted siningang... first the parking was very limited and Had to wait for someone to leave... the inside decor was nice and clean, the decor appropriate. We ordered pork sinigang and Laing, Taro leaves with coconut milk. The Laing was pretty good, brought back memories of home land Philippines. The pork sinigang had the perfect flavor and sourness but the pork was a little tough. The portion was very small so if you have a big family you'll have to order more than one of the same item... A little too pricey for the portion.. Service was good. Not worth the 40 minute drive in traffic.

Yelp
I loveeee Max's! It's one of my favorite Filipino restaurants to go to whenever I visit this area. The service is good and fast. There's always a good amount of people there having a good time. My favorites: the chicken, cooked to perfection, the sinigang baboy - perfect amount of sour, and the Sago 't Gulaman is sooo delicious.

Yelp
Was craving filipino food so we decided to go to Max's for dinner. Haven't been here in years and really like how they renovated! The space is more modern and clean. Staff was nice and attentive. They offer valet parking for $5 which I wish it was free self parking so you could probably just park across the street at the galleria and walk over. The sinigang was perfectly sour. Fried chicken still as good as I remembered and thankfully they still had banana ketchup lol. I wish i got the regular pork sisig because the lechon kawali sisig didn't really hit. The sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. Overall I would probably come back!

Yelp
This place is hands down, one of the best Philippine restaurants I've ever been to.The food is awesome with many traditional dishes, which is hard to come across nowadays the ambiance is overall pretty peaceful and quiet. The service is AWESOME (Shoutout to our server John ;D ) This server went out of his way to even play a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors with my husband. (Truth or dare)Additionally, a few tables over the servers sung happy birthday to an infant, which was very kind and wholesome.(They sang like Family)

Yelp
Decided to stop by for some comfort food. The restaurant was busy but we were able to get seated quickly. We ordered the sisig and palabok. Both dishes were average, nothing special. Food was overpriced as expected. I also got a calamansi drink which was refreshing. Great restaurant if you're in the mood for Filipino food but don't feel like cooking.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday early afternoon for lunch and was seated immediately. By the time we were leaving, the restaurant was getting packed and there was a wait. So, keep that in mind. Food: - Can't go wrong with the food here and have yet to be disappointed. The lechon kawali sisig though had pieces of the bone/hard cartilage, so be careful when chewing. Service: - Kuya was nice, but don't expect top quality service. It will get busy and you won't be checked on as much. Sometimes it was hard to flag down the waiter because we couldn't find him. Parking is valet only. If you don't mind a short walk, there is street parking. You can also park in the mall parking across the street as an option.

Yelp
Our party of 6 got there right in the nick of time...they started filling up like crazy right after that and they don't take reservations. The food was all great and the wait staff was incredible. The food was on the table only about 15 minutes after the order was submitted. We were celebrating a birthday and because we were so nice, they even accepted a big piece of the birthday cake in exchange for not charging us a cake fee. I personally like Max's because they offer one dish that most Filipino restaurants do not offer, and that is Laing (taro leaves in coconut milk.) I wish I lived closer to Max's but the sad fact is that I do not. But about once a year or two I will go there.

Yelp
One of the best Filipino restaurants in LA! I've been here countless times, and it never disappoints. Came here yesterday for an early dinner on a Saturday. We were 5th on the waitlist but got seated in less than 15 mins. Food came out quick too and as expected, delicious and definitely satisfied our cravings. My top picks would be Kare-Kare, the classic fried chicken, sisig and pancit canton. Service was excellent.
google avatar

Danielle H.

Yelp
My Filipino food knowledge is limited to pancit, adobo, turon, and lumpiang; so I asked a friend to introduce me to more dishes. We tried the fried chicken, pancit, crispy patata, garlic rice, kare-kare, chicharon, fresh lumpiang ubod, buko pandan, and mango and coconut jelly in cream. The chicken was cooked perfectly. So was the pork patata. The portions are beyond generous as well. A great spot for people who eat family style. My favorite dishes were the lumpiang ubod, garlic rice, and the desserts. The other dishes were not my cup of tea (either too much vinegar or too fried).
google avatar

Yelp
The food is always great. I like my Max chicken extra crispy and they get it right all the time without it being burnt. Jason waited on us and he is so friendly, respectful and quick. We got our food within 15-20 mins and for a busy day like today, it was such a nice surprise. There is a lot of seating to handle large parties. This is always a favorite Filipino restaurant of mine.

Yelp
From the warm welcome, to the quick seating (we went at the right time ), to the most amazing home like cooking of our orders, Max's never failed! I have not been here for years and it was definitely good to be back! We had sizzling tofu, Max's chicken, Beef steak Tagalog, Daing na Bangus, lechon kawali, Nilagang Baka, and garlic rice. We had sago and gulaman and for dessert, maja Blanca... everything was so good, you can never go wrong with Max's!

Yelp
After a day of walking at Universal Studios, we decided to have Filipino food at Max's Restaurant. Their Pancit Canton is out of this world. Sorry folks, I know they are known for their fried chicken but the star of the night is the ever humble Pancit canton. The noodles are made from Filipino pancit canton noodles in white, buttery sauce. The taste reminds me of the same dish at a legendary noodle house in Cebu, Philippines. Great job, Max's.

Ted S.

Yelp
Ordered 4 whole chicken, 3 crispy pata, cut up and place in party tray. The "cut up and place in party tray" did not happen. I had to cut myself at home and place in party tray for the chafing dish. Made a mess in my kitchen that I was trying to avoid before the uly 4th BBQ celebration. Customer service sucks
google avatar

Yelp
They denied me service because I have a service dog and that I don't have documentation!!! Max's need to be sued for discrimination. Service Animals DO NOT ASK any other questions. DO NOT ASK about the nature or extent of the disability. DO NOT ASK for documentation, verification, or proof. DO NOT ASK for the animal to demonstrate its ability to perform work or tasks. DO NOT ASK for proof that the animal is trained or certified as a service animal.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I decided to see each other after not seeing each other for a year and one suggested to eat lunch at Max's. We didn't have to wait since we got there early and they had a lot of vacant tables. We were told to add ourself to the waitlist which showed it was close to an hour wait. It didn't make any sense. We ordered: daing na bangus (fried milkfish), pork sinigang, crispy pata, calamares and of course their fried chicken. I got to taste all of it and they're all good in my opinion. All had the right flavors and just how I remember them to be. The prices was reasonable for the serving. We were taken cared of by Jason, who did an excellent job. I highly recommend Max's for an authentic filipino restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Growing up as a Filipino kid in LA and when you had relatives in town, you likely remember your parents saying "We're going to Max's!". Despite the recent new-Filipino cuisine restaurants popping up, Max's still remains as that fun and familiar place to eat traditional Filipino dishes. Max's Restaurant is located in Glendale directly across Macy's at the galleria along West Broadway. Parking is valet only and they only take cash. Supposedly (and allegedly and totally not me) you can just park at the galleria and walk across the street. When I had dined-in recently, we made sure to go before the 12pm hour because of how busy it gets. Our server Raffy was professional and attentive all throughout our meal. He was polite and treated us as if we were regulars. The food was served in courses and eaten family style. Overall Max's is still that restaurant to go to if you're craving comfort dishes like Pork Sisig, Miki Bihon, or their famous fried chicken. You can tell they recently renovated the inside and it looks so modern. Shout out to all the friendly staff working and taking care of all people wanting to see what food from Manila tastes like!

Yelp
Whenever I'm in the area, I think of heading to this spot. Max's is a Filipino restaurant that has always delivered in food tasting and quality, giving great reminiscence to the restaurant chain in the Philippines. This time around I came here with my girlfriend and there was a special for a new dessert they had!!! The ube leche flan shake was advertised and although the price is quite high for a drink ($9), it's no ordinary drink and is perfect to share between others!!! I loved the sweet pair together and enjoyed the texture differences between the leche flan and the smooth ube cream. Highly recommend!!! Other orders we got were the famous whole Max's fried chicken and the plate of lechon kawali (fried pork belly). The frying for both entrees were perfect, leaving a juicy and meaty bite with each spoonful of rice. This spot can get busy with many families enjoying dinner, so sometimes you need to find parking aside from the small lot around the area.
google avatar

Yelp
When craving for Filipino food with dining space & parking, Max's comes to mind. The food & service was great! We ordered Max's Whole Chicken (must have), Lechon Kawali (not as crispy), Chicken Adobo (kids love it), Pork Sinigang (everyone's favorite), Pancit Canton (my favorite), Sizzling Tofu, Fresh Lumpia Ubod (I had better ones). For dessert, it's too cold for Halo halo, so we ordered Buko Pandan & Leche Flan. I also had Sago't Gulaman (the sago not cooked enough). Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience.
google avatar

Gina M.

Yelp
I haven't been here for a while so I excited to go back as I've always liked it....sad to say, the food today was tasteless. And if you know Filipino food, flavors are usually very bold. Unfortunately with what we ordered, pancit palabok, fresh lumpia, lechon kawali and garlic fried rice - they were all so bland we had to add fish sauce or soy sauce to everything. Only the Halu-halo was good. I am so disappointed.
google avatar

Jojo C.

Yelp
Max's Chicken is a staple when it comes to Filipino Cuisine. From Philippines to Vegas to this location in Glendale, you can't really mess up the signature Filipino dishes. I can safely say the food and the service is consistent and this location is always busy. The only negative would be the lack of parking but you can't always park at the mall and head over. If you are out of luck and can't park in their lot, be sure to have someone in your party get out to get your party on the list to be seated. Recommend fried chicken, garlic rice, and pork sinigang. They have indoor and outdoor seating but it's best to sit inside if at all possible.
google avatar

Alejandro G.

Yelp
It was our first time at maxs, been passing it for years but we finally decided to try it. Food was really good, we got the lumpia as a starter, really crispy really good had what I believe is pickled carrots on the side and it went well, wasn't big on the sweet and sour sauce but probably cause I'm used to la choy sweet chili Then we got garlic rice, pancit, lechon and fried chicken, it was all really good nice crisp, the vinegar paired with the lechon was so good. Dessert was my favorite part, halo halo and the buko pandan The restaurant itself had no music so it would either get very quiet and awkward Or all you hear is screaming families and kids haha Over all good experience

Yelp
I enjoyed the birthday celebration at Max's! We got a long table near the kitchen. Ordered several dishes (I'll post the rest of the pics soon). The Crispy Pata and fried chicken was outstanding. Of course you have to end with dessert. For me it was Halo Halo which can be shared if you want:) Our server was friendly and hard working. He was also kind enough to take a few photos of our group and brought the Red Ribbon cake out during dessert. I was surprised that the there was a decent size dinner crowd for a Wednesday evening. Dishes are mainly ala cart. Max's has private parking with valet service mainly on the weekends I think. The decor is clean and modern.
google avatar

Gabe D.

Yelp
Fast, friendly service. Food was good as always, only dish that I would skip is the pork sisig. The inside of the restaurant is also clean and modern. Standout is the Max's fried chicken of course.

Yelp
I have to say, I am impressed with this restaurant. The menu and items served are very authentic.

Yelp
#16 for 2023 One of my favorite places to dine but I was a little surprised with how much the pricing has gone up. I brought 3 of my friends here who never had Filipino food before. I told them I was bringing them to a place where they can feel transported to another country with food that was going to tease, play and satisfy their palate. They have a good size parking lot. For Glendale where parking is a premium these days that's good. Service is on point. We were greeted immediately. Even though not all our party was present they showed us our table so we could start with some refreshments. When I looked at the menu, the higher pricing was a little surprising. Looking around at the setting it was lovely. I did feel like I was in a modern Filipino restaurant. My friends were pleased with that agreeing they felt transported. We started with the lumpia ubod which is heart of palm. You wouldn't think this to be such a delightful treat with the peanut dipping sauce. There's only 2 on a plate. We ordered 2 of these for our party of 5. I didn't eat one so they could all try it. The garlic rice came. It smelled divine. The chop suey of stir fried vegetables, pork, squid and chicken was savory and tasty. The rice soaked up the sauce lingering the taste and flavors in my mouth. Next up the pancit balabok was hit. They had noodles before but nothing like this. I had them squeeze some lemon and soy sauce to give it that extra kick into the next level. The kare kare, peanut stew pork, didn't go over well with everyone. They could eat it but it's not something they would order. Noted. For me I loved it. So I get to eat more of this than anything else. lol The crispi pata was a big hit. The price now for that is $30 but it seem like the portion was double the size. Other times I've had it feeding 5 was difficult. This day there was quite enough to satisfy everyone. Pretty happy with that. It is good to know there's still a place I can bring friends to experience the culture and food of my home country.

Yelp
the friendliest staff around! the sinigang is so tasty here. definitely want to try the halo halo next time! food is always so fresh, so expect a small wait, but it's worth it. very family friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
good food but what made it a great experience was kuya Ernest service. He was very helpful even when he wasn't in charge of our table. Thank you.

Yelp
If I can rate 0/5, I would. Visited Max's Glendale on May 10, 2025, and the seating was a mess. People were ignoring the QR code check-in and going straight to servers, who ended up seating them ahead of those waiting properly--like my family. No clear system, no control, just chaos. Disappointing and unfair experience. Also Happy Mother's Day!
google avatar

Jacklyn D.

Yelp
I've been coming here with my family since I was a little girl. I remember loving this place so much because their chicken is so crispy and eating it with garlic rice and banana ketchup was even better. Back in the days, the wait would be up to an hour or more! The wait time has definitely lessened and unfortunately, the service, and quality of their food. The interior is very nice now that is newly remodeled. There is more open seating and the lights give it a much brighter ambiance. My family came here for my Dad's birthday and we ordered: fried chicken, shanghai lumpia, kare kare, pancit bihon, and garlic fried rice. My favorite Filipino dish is kare kare and it is delicious here to pair with the rice. Our chicken was very salty... we were not too happy about it so we told our server, and he was more than happy to replace it. It was still salty the second time around, but we kept it to eat. I think I've had other authentic Filipino food at other restaurants, but I know when people here Max's restaurant they go crazy over it. I would still recommend people to try it out for themselves. Parking here also used to be free and park yourself, but now it is valet parking.

Yelp
This is a one branch of the iconic Filipino owned business , its logo being "The house that fried chicken built! " Met up with a group of longtime schoolmates for dinner. There were only five of us but we seemed to have ordered enough food for three times as many! Personable and very courteous staff welcomed us and were attentive throughout the dinner. Many traditional entrees and the fried chicken of course. This is not the usual heavily breaded American fried chicken or the heavily sauced Korean style of chicken. It's marinated then simply deep fried till golden, keeping the chicken quite tender and crispy on the outside. My friends showed me to eat this with a mixture of banana ketchup and Worcestershire sauce - I ate mine plain, lol. These other dishes were also delicious: Nilagang Baka or beef soup had tender pieces and cabbage plus potatoes. Also got both pancit bihon (thin rice noodle) and pancit miki bihon ( mixed egg and rice noodles) with chopped vegetables, chicken pieces and shrimp. Laing or sauteed taro leaves in coconut milk -very mildly spicy. Kare kare (tender beef plus vegetables in annatto peanut stew). The traditional dish uses oxtail but I think this version had beef cubes not oxtail. Lumping ubod (sautéed bamboo shoot in a crepe) was a miss for me, the wrapper was simply too thick to be enjoyed. Garlic fried rice also delicious and generous servings. All dishes are meant for family style sharing. Dessert was quite satisfying: halo halo came served in a bowl large enough for sharing. I got the mango sago topped with ice cream - it was in a tiny parfait glass, we thought we could also share but this was definitely a one person serving. Busy weekday night, they did not rush us out of there even when they had already ended service and were closing. Casual dining spot, I did not notice any music nor TVs blaring, which is great to have dinner conversation without yelling.

Yelp
The authentic Filipino food is really what makes me drive 30 miles away. The ambience is a very inviting and feels homey. The service is mostly satisfactory depending on how busy the restaurant is at that time couple visits prior to this on Easter time they have been very hospitable, professional and friendly. The last visit was a little busy like I said due to Easter everything needed had to be asked, and I had a little bit of of the waiting period at some point I had to get up myself and ask receptionist as my family and I had to go food wise. Everything is so good. The fried chicken is always well prepared and tasted as expected.

Yelp
This is probably the WORST Filipino restaurant that I've ever eaten at. The restaurant itself is FULL OF COCKROACHES crawling on the floor. To add to that a lot of flys inside the restaurant! I didn't even start with the food yet cos this place is so gross! Kare kare? Taste like boiled water mixed with peanuts. The chicken was OK, Nothing special as they're claiming it's their specialty? Nope! Dry soggy chicken was the one we got! Beef steak was hard as a rock and SALTY af: I think they replaced their chef already? I never had such disgusting food in my life. I can go on and on you can try it yourself. I was happy bringing my family here but guess what? This place is a MESS don't ever eat here as it's disgusting! If I can put 0 stars I would. No wonder the health department keeps closing them for ROACH INFESTATION. Yuck Attached photos of the violations that I discovered! OMG! https://ehservices.publichealth.lacounty.gov/servlet/img?fileId=648456

Yelp
1 1/2 minute read: MAX'S is well established as a Filipino Restaurant in Glendale and in Las Vegas. We've been to the Glendale one several times, and tried their Krispy Pata, TOKWAT BABOY, Pancit, and other delectables. Prices are fair. Many customers have posted their photos, so you can get an idea of what to expect. The Restaurant Staff is very efficient, friendly and and eager to please. It's not a huge place but it is comfortable. Parking is no issue. They have 2 or three handicap spots, you can park your own car or let the Valet- when on duty. I'm going back and when I do, I want BANGUS- preferably FRIED, but it's prepared in several ways. I'll find out. OK, I gotta check if we've been to the MAX'S in Las Vegas. I'll let you know. Go enjoy Filipino cuisine. I'll eat any dish they prepare except Two: 1. BALUT 2. Anything containing BLOOD. All in all... happy eating

Yelp
Of course I had to try Max's! I brought my nephew and daughters to eat here a couple months ago. We drove about an hour to try is highly recommended Filipino restaurant. I ordered the kare-kare, the Shanghai lumpia, the bistek, Chicharrón, garlic rice, halo-halo, mango dessert, and flan. Let's start with the Kare-kare, which is my favorite Filipino dish. I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce and vegetables. The meat was a bit chewy and I was thrown off by the tripe in it. I've never had this dish with tripe. The garlic rice, of course was amazing with the bits of fried garlic sprinkled on top. The Chicharrón with crispy and delicious. The bistek was not a hitter for us. The meat was too chewy and didn't have that traditional taste. I also made a mistake by not eating the fried chicken. I would visit again to try the fried chicken. Desserts were all very delicious, especially the halo halo! The restaurant is really cute inside with all those Filipino vibes! Definitely worth a try!

Yelp
This is Filipino soul food! Highly recommend the Kare kare, sisig bangus, bicol express and the laing. The fried chicken was delicious but you can get fried chicken anywhere. Parking was easy. Jason, our server, was absolutely wonderful. Had lunch here with my family who were visiting from South America two days ago and I can't stop thinking about this amazing meal.

Yelp
A 30 dollar overcooked food with no sauce on a takeout. Probably too busy on New Year's Eve.

Yelp
I was visiting my cousin and her family and they decided to take me to Max's. It's been years since I walked into one. This one had nice ambience. Perfect for families. We ordered so much, but my faves were the sisig tofu and sisig lechon. So darn tasty! Oh, and the Buko pandan was a refreshing finish to our meal.

Yelp
Good service, nice location. Food is another story. Bistek Tagalog had no taste, it's very shiny and full of cornstarch. It's very slimy. Also ordered kare kare, same fluffed up with cornstarch with bubbles. They charge so much for tasteless food. I'm eating left over at work. I'm having a hard time deciding if I should starve or eat this slimy beef. O m g!

Yelp
Pilipino Pood Cravings... Have brought us to one of the Meccas of Pinoy Cuisine... After a hearty walk in the Glendale Galleria... thought we'd cool down with some legendary Halo Halo... Well ... so we thought... In the end... My little stomach begged for more ... "You're a very very bad little man Mr. tummy..." Definitely has a mind of its own..

Yelp
Max's is a classic Filipino restaurant that has been around since forever. I regularly went here with my family as a kid and only recently revisited. It was nostalgic and just as good as I remember. The wait time on the weekends can get pretty long; valet parking. The must order is their fried chicken with a side of banana ketchup and rice. Also had the Sinigang and pork sisig. Their food tastes lighter/less greasy compared to other Filipino "fast food" spots. A bit pricey relative to their portions, but it was fine. Def wanna try to Kare kare and crispy pata next time. Service was good, felt like home.

Yelp
Food is good, service is OK, but be mind full, the amount shown on the "signature receipt" includes gratuity, but yet the server will add another empty tip line on the "signature receipt" to scam you! Read the separate line item receipt, it shows added gratuity already. The server won't even mention this! We've been going to Max's since it was located in korea town but now my family members and I are wondering how many times we got scammed for tips.

Yelp
I've dined here twice and you really have to get the right dishes when you go. The Miki Bihon noodle dish was my favorite!!! It's a mix of 2 different types of noodles, pork, shrimp and chicken. The waiter hsaid the Pancit canton is the popular but I found this one to be way better. The Laing dish was really good with taro leaves sautéed in spicy coconut milk. And the lumpiag Shanghai pork egg rolls were amazing! A lot of the dishes have pork and I'm not a fan of that. But these were my favorites! Parking lot is pretty big, lots of spaces. The waiter was so nice taking the time to explain half the menu to us. Thank you!!!

Yelp
Food is great but prices have skyrocketed. Even a glass of coke is $5.00. Too much !!

Yelp
Max's restaurant is always a go to for my family when we're craving some Filipino food that's not made at home. My family's go-to is the crispy pata, sinigang na bangus, & the bangus sisig. Came here recently for my sister's graduation, and the service was quick, and our server was so kind. This location is pretty big, compared to the one that used to be in West Covina, and I did like that they had valet parking for $5 (Parking in that area always seems a bit hectic lol) And even during lunch time on a Sunday, we only waited ~35 minutes & it was def worth the wait.

Yelp
This was my second time coming here. Suggested this place to friends who wanted Filipino food. We ordered the garlic fried rice, pancit canton, chicken adobo, sizzling tofu, and halo-halo for dessert. Everything was delicious and most importantly, my friends enjoyed the food. Our server was great as well. Highly recommend. Maraming salamat po!

Yelp
I was so excited to order to go and I was so disappointed to see this fried chicken ... and Pinakbet was too small for the amount I Paid.
