"Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant Maya Bistro has opened on Arlington’s Lee Highway. The family-run restaurant, which opened in the space once occupied by former Nook Play Space at 5649 Lee Highway, is serving moussaka, falafel and adana sandwiches, and grilled meat skewers, ARLnow reported Wednesday. The restaurant’s staff told the site they sold out of some menu items last Friday, briefly after opening." - Audrey Carleton

My husband and I are both Turkish, so I decided to find a Turkish restaurant while we were visiting DC to enjoy for his birthday. The original restaurants I picked did not serve döner on the day we wanted to go, so I had to find a place that served his second favorite- Mantı. I was in it solely for the Pide, especially as a vegetarian. I also ordered the fried cauliflower with cacık (yogurt sauce) instead of tahini… and it was wonderful! In fact, I thought MY food was so good, that I ordered it for delivery again the next night! My husband and I both agreed that we didn’t care too much for the lahmacun, (yes, the vegetarian tried a BITE because I had to… It’s in my blood.) but the Pide was baked perfectly. I could taste a hint of feta or a sharp cheese inside, but just enough to add the perfect amount of flavor! Dining in was a calm atmosphere, but my husband and I were dealing with a few family issues at the time so our visit was cut short. I wish it wouldn’t have been, because I wanted to stick around for coffee and dessert! I did manage to order Künefe to go, and it was really good too. Not the first restaurant I had in mind, but definitely a cute little hidden gem. Go support this small business, solely for the Pide! 🇹🇷

Very good Turkish food. We ordered the mezze and each and every food was very well made. The Mixed grill was even better with the most succulent meats and the most flavorful rice and bulgar

My wife and I stopped by here for the first time, so I wanted to provide my honest feedback: Food: - Grilled Calamari (I do not recommend it, the calamari was chewy and flavorless) - Shrimp Tavi (I was under the impression that it would be a unique and tasty dish, but unfortunately, the shrimp didn't have enough flavor, and needed additional love) - Adana Kabob (the kabob itself was tasty and perfectly seasoned, but based on the price point, they should've increased the portion size and added an extra adana kabob) - Branzino (sadly, overall, it lacked flavor and did not match the price point) - Manti (the traditional sauce that the manti is topped with lacked flavor and the dumplings literally had no meat) - Maya Cigars (highly recommend, perfectly cooked) - Knafeh (one of the best I've had in the area, extremely tasty) - Apricot Delight (unique dish and tasty, but you must appreciate this flavor profile) Service: - Our server was extremely friendly and professional, she was genuinely interested in helping us and checking in on us, as needed. ⚠️ Please note: they automatically add gratuity (which was not to their benefit, as we normally tip over 20%) Atmosphere: - A small, intimate setting with minimal traffic. We were the only ones there. - The inside the restaurant felt extremely stuffy and unpleasant. It seemed like the AC was turned off, which is bizarre as it was almost unbearable. Overall, the price points do not match the portion sizes, so we will likely not return. Otherwise, it was a decent experience overall.

Turkish cuisine is hard to find. Really goodTurkish is even harder. But I found it! Truly exceptional creations of very authentic dishes. I very pleasant spend on your typical Mediterranean food. You've got to try this for a true adventure, fabulous service in a very pleasant atmosphere. The Mezza plate is a must.

Solid experience and authentic Turkish dishes. Really enjoyed the trio of dips; hummus, baba ganoush, htipiti with warm pita. We also enjoyed the brussels sprouts so much that we ordered 3 orders. We finished with rice pudding and künefe for dessert which was a perfect way to cleanse our palates.

This is a great place to take a loved one, or family. The food, service, and atmosphere are all great. I’ve always had a very positive experience here. There’s some parking in front of the restaurant and there’s also street parking. The menu selection is diverse enough that everyone should be able to find something they’ll enjoy. This time I started with the patlican kozleme, which is absolutely delicious, and the beyti yogurt. My wife ordered the baked zucchini, although I think it was slightly overcooked. But everything is always delicious. And you have to have the knefe! Amazing food. Amazing service. From the moment my wife and I entered the restaurant, we felt like part of the family. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We tried 3 different spreads (htipiti, baba ganoush, and patlican kozleme), the mousaka, Adana, baklava, and kunefe. Everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was very casual but in a very relaxing way. This has definitely become a place to go to regularly. Others were clearly regulars.

We stayed in Falls Church Arlington for the weekend for the kids' soccer match. Since it was our first time staying in this area, we wanted to try Maya Bistro, where we could have a nice meal around the hotel. We're glad we tried it. We were very satisfied with both the service and the food. The Charcoal Smoked Eggplant, Maya Cigars (Crispy cheese rolls) and Ezme served at the table were fresh and delicious. The portion size was enough for the three of us to share. Cheese rolls were great, you should try it. For the main course, I had Adana (grilled ground beef and lamb) with white rice, and the kids had meatballs and Manti (Turkish dumplings stuffed with beef, served with yogurt and tomato sauce on top). One of my kids is a picky eater and finished the whole plate of Manti. So, Manti scored a perfect 10 out of 10. I enjoyed the Adana; it wasn't too spicy, I recommend it. The only thing was if the pide (Turkish flatbread) served at the table was a little warmer, it would have been even better, but since we arrived around 8:30 on Friday night, maybe the pide wasn't hot, but it was still tasty. The interior was very clean, and the service was friendly and good. I liked the ambiance, music, and atmosphere. I definitely recommend it.

The service was attentive. The food was fresh and delicious. The $50 price includes appetizer and dessert. The stuffed zucchini entree was amazing. I'd eat it again tomorrow and I hate leftovers. The baklava was incredible! Do not skip dessert!
