"Maya, a Mexican restaurant with coastal influences, will open at 479 King Street, Charleston, later this summer. Indigo Road tapped chef Brett Riley to head the kitchen. Riley, formerly of Casa Publica in Brooklyn, brings experience from New York-based Mexican restaurants like Dos Caminos, Empellón, and Claro. The menu will feature in-house tortillas made from Mexican corn masa, with tacos having unique identities, such as the Veracruz-style carnitas with escabeche, chicharrons, and salsa verde. Maya will serve dinner and late night food seven days a week, with brunch on weekends." - Erin Perkins

This was our 3rd time to Maya tonight. 1st time was a year ago, recommended by a flight attendant friend. It was our anniversary and the complimentary champagne was SO kind. 2nd time was a group of 10 for a friend's birthday. We reserved for when they opened so we wouldn't be in the way for their prime dinner rush. All the staff were so sweet and gave the birthday human great treatment! Now on our anniversary again we couldn't help but come back! A now-tradition perhaps. The happy hour is excellent, all food and beverage from scratch and SO full flavored. But again it's the service that puts Maya above.. truly genuinely quality staff that has been hard to find in Charleston the last few years. Tonight was Cassandra, and I'm sorry I didn't remember the names of the previous 2 but props to them as well. Love y'all!

Google
I can confidently say that Maya is the best dining experience I have ever had! We made a reservation and mentioned it was for a bachelorette trip and the staff at Maya created an entire EXPERIENCE. We had customized menus, the table was decorated, and we even got complimentary shots and dessert. Not to mention, the food was INCREDIBLE! I had the garlic chicken enchiladas and I have been dreaming about them ever since. The best part of the dining experience was by far our waiter, Tyler. He was very attentive to any dietary restrictions/allergies we had, made amazing recommendations, and overall went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our experience. This man deserves a raise and a promotion!! Overall, this restaurant is a MUST GO if you’re in the Charleston area.

Best mexican food we’ve ever had. We got the Maya burrito and the crunch wrap which were both amazing! Our drinks were really good and pretty cheap for Charleston. Our server Libby (I think) was amazing and brought out a slice of cake on the house for my birthday. The atmosphere was that of fine dining but the prices were fair. It was overall an amazing experience and we will 100% be back.

Google
A spacious, upscale, Mexican food restaurant in a busy touristy part of downtown. There is a dining room and partially covered patio, with a nice seating nook near the traditional outside wood stove. The food we picked was aimed to try their point of taste on fresh local seafood. And it was definitely fresh and fool of flavor. My cocktail was refreshing and balanced. Special thanks to the chef who came to welcome us. Servise was attentive and quick. Clean and neat dining rooms and the bathroom. The only hiccups were the choice of initial sitting: on a hot afternoon, in the patio's sunniest spot. Were were dressed up for the dinner and would be more comfortable in the air-conditioned setting. When I asked for another table (the patio was empty and so the air-conditioned dining room) my request was accommodated right away to the table under the patio's roof, at least. Unfortunately, the table was wobbling on its legs, which was quiet annoying, a second hiccup. There were no extra napkins for a quick fix. We choose not to bring it up and watch staff's reaction. They seems to be not paying attention or not being bothered enough to fix it for us. The third hiccup was the limited choice of fresh seafood dishes. I understand the main focus on Mexican/Latino cuisine, but, surely, there is wealth of traditional recipes to celebrate the abundance of local catch.

Google
Ordered the Brussels sprouts, double smash burger and crunch wrap. Brussel sprouts were incredible! So much flavor and lots of crunch I highly recommend you get these. The burger was hearty and a pleasant surprise from a Mexican place. Lots of sauce and flavor. The crunch wrap was tasty but needed a better sauce. Fun spin off of a Taco Bell favorite. Margaritas were also good and strong. Good date night option for a local. If your looking for a true foodie experience there are better option in Charleston but be prepared to pay for it. This place is reasonably priced

Google
Absolutely absolutely loved the food, very flavorful, and the waitress was very knowledgeable. I love the mahi tacos, the birra crispy cheese tacos. The margaritas were perfect! My absolute favorite part was the skillet queso. Loved that they had gluten-free options. Being a local I will be back frequently.

Google
We had an amazing dining experience on our anniversary! We were totally surprised by the welcome from the host with a personalized greeting card signed by many staff. The place has got a beautiful ambience, spacious yet cozy feel, food was delicious, and the service was great! To add to our surprise, our lovely server brought us a complementary entree to make the evening feel even more special. Highly recommended!!

Libby was a great server. Drinks were delicious and food was incredible. Very good happy hour deals. Welcoming atmosphere while being upscale. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Made a last-minute reservation at Maya before a show at Charleston Music Hall. Very chill ambiance on the back patio, and we had an excellent server. We started with the trio dip. The guac was good, salsa was lime heavy, and the queso was just not great. The banana tequila drink was delicious, though! I had the bowl with chicken, and the portion was HUGE, spicy in all the right ways, and really hit the spot. My husband ordered the quesadilla and unfortunately, it was dripping with grease. Overall, a good meal depending on what you order and I appreciated the special birthday menu!

Yvette S.

Yelp
A group of us had made a reservation for eight diners. The service was very good, friendly, and timely. My friends found the food delicious, seasoned well, and filling. I had the beef empanadas that was different from ones normally found in bakeries and the supermarkets. Not sure if that's a good comparison. On the down side, I've not been in a restaurant where you need to wipe out your phones to use the flashlight!!! The ambiance is good, though it is a bit loud. Probably won't come back.

Arion M.

Yelp
SO GOOD! Made a last minute reservation here with my friends and we all enjoyed our food -- with one exception, my friend's Birria tacos were too salty, but they were happy to bring out a new entree for her. I ordered the Chicken Crunchwrap which was sooooOooOo tasty! Plus, we shared the dip trio, which is the perfect way to start off our meal. I had the pineapple margarita and the lime one, both were good! I would definitely go back here. Solid staff, food and fun atmosphere.

Kelsey D.

Yelp
My friend and I were in need of a smaller meal and stopped into Maya. We started with the dip trio featuring salsa, guacamole, and queso. I loved the queso and guacamole but the salsa was watery. For an entree I got the chicken Maya bowl and it was just what I was looking for! Maya has a menu that shows what has gluten or possibly cross contamination rather than a gluten free icon because so many of their items are gluten free. Definitely worth a visit! The price of the appetizer and entree were good as well for how much food you got.

Mel W.

Yelp
I thought the service was great, particularly the bar tender. He deserves 5 stars, we asked a ton of questions and he was so patient, and nice in-spite of being busy on a Friday night. He overheard me saying that I didn't care for the wine I ordered and volunteered to take it of the bill and make something that I would actually enjoy. That was an example of attentive customer service. The food had an authentic taste and flavor. The appetizer that we selected was guacamole and chips it was pretty good. My entree was the Carne Asada Crunch Wrap which was very good. The beef was tender and all of the flavors worked well together. My only suggestion would be to tone down the salt just a bit. It was little bit too much for me. Overall I would likely order that again to share and try one of the small plates to go with it in the future. It was pretty busy for a Friday night and there was a short wait for our table so we opted for the bar which was fine primarily due to the great service. The atmosphere was dimly lit inside and it would be a nice little date spot.

Marieke S.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the back patio decor and ambiance. We had an earlier reservation on a Saturday, 5:30pm, and almost had the entire space to ourselves. Food and cocktails were delicious! The Crunchwrap was tasty and very filling.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Cute, upscale Mexican restaurant serving delicious food. Plants all around, bright colors, and candle lighting provide for a calm atmosphere. Our server was friendly offering suggestions on the menu. Great spot to check out!

RM P.

Yelp
Had happy hour in the bar area. I was very pleasantly surprised by the food. I was planning on not liking it, but it really was lovely and oddly authentic. Great drinks, cool vibe...definitely going back. A tad pricey, but...it's on King St

Michelle L.

Yelp
Great Mexican food! We ordered the loaded nachos to start- it is a very large portion. We split these among 4 people and didn't finish. The birria tacos and crispy mahi mahi tacos were both tasty! I liked the birria ones better though. I wish the fish ones had a sauce or something. The fish itself wasn't dry, but an aioli or perhaps a salsa would've complimented this dish nicely. Service was good, a little slow. Overall, if I'm in the area again, I would return.

Sam D.

Yelp
The food is good, verging on very good. It's a pretty space, but so acoustically live it's difficult to hear the person next to you. We sat at the bar. Service was friendly, but not attentive. So, mixed bag. And I note from google that Maya is now permanently closed, so this is all moot. Sigh.

Emma P.

Yelp
Maya is a great option for a casual dinner date. It's environment is welcoming, easy to chat in and the food is great. The staff is friendly and you may have seen them at some of the other sister restaurants on King. While it's not traditional Mexican food, the queso and Crunchwrap were palate pleasers for the group.

Michelle I.

Yelp
Ambiance was great. We had a reservation and were running a few minutes behind. They sat us immediately. Our server Justin was prompt and sweet with recommendations. My marg was delicious, salsa trio was the perfect starter and the birria tacos were fire. We were too stuffed for dessert, but we saw another couple with some and it looked amazing.

Catherine Q.

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance was wonderful. We got there early before a show and before the restaurant got busy. By time we were finished eating the place was packed. We will be back!

Reed M.

Yelp
We came here on a girl's trip and Tyler was our waiter. He was incredible!! He was so attentive, personable, and literally brought us all we needed before we asked it. Also bringing us an amazing chocolate cake to celebrate our trip. We came at the tail end of happy hour and got 2 tacos and rice for $15. The tacos were pretty good apart from a bit of staleness in the shells, but the flavor was good. The atmosphere is beautiful with lots of gorgeous lighting with candles and fun colors.

Sharon R.

Yelp
They've clearly changed the menu quite a bit since we were there last and I can't remember what was on there before, but I did really like this menu. Only problem is the tacos come 3 to a serving, BUT they aren't mix and match. You get 3 of one kind of taco, which is kind of a bummer. Clearly, the waiter hears this a lot and it's not his fault. So, we didn't order them. We DID get the ceviche which was truly delicious. It's not big enough for a full meal, but a great shared appetizer for two! Just enough spice to make it interesting. We had the pork "crunch wrap" and, while I've never had one from Taco Bell, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume this was better. It is dense, filled with meat, rice and beans, covered in tortillas and then the cheese around the top cooked until it's crispy. SO GOOD! Very good and too much for one of us to eat, but I'm sure a hungry 20 something could finish it off! I also got the fajitas, which were fine. Not the best I've ever had and they don't come out on the sizzling platter, but plenty for me to eat. They come with rice, which is just fine as well.

Victoria B.

Yelp
Maya is absolutely a vibe - I have never had a negative experience! The covered patio is my favorite, it's decorated in lush greens and more bright and vibrant than the sexier, dimly lit dining room. Service was exceptional, our server was attentive and helpful, and even brought us a trio of hot sauces to try. All of the food was fantastic, if you are eyeing the signature mole dish, get it! We got the serving for two and still had to bring some home. The Bruselas were flavorful and cooked perfectly. The tostada de Atun is a crowd pleaser and I have not once regretted eating it! Also - get the churros! PS the entire menu is gluten free which I think is an awesome touch!

Beth B.

Yelp
Such a relaxed atmosphere, our server Emma was so easy going and accommodating, and they have THE BEST Brussel sprouts in Charleston! Would def return!

Amanda E.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening and it was a lovely experience! We sat on the covered patio which was very comfortable temperature wise. The appetizers were great but my Crunchwrap stole the show. It's definitely big enough to be shared by 2 people. All in all, I highly recommend Maya!

Michael S.

Yelp
Five-star experience. Great cocktails, tasty and flavorful Mexican-Southwest entrees, generous portions, warm service and hospitality, comfortable covered patio seating.

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
If I could give this restaurant six stars, I would. We happened to walk in and were shocked at how delicious the food was and how exceptional the service was. It was two of my friends birthday and the staff went above and beyond to celebrate them. We got a round of complimentary shots, complimentary desserts, and they even brought over a little gift (face mask, lotion, lip balm). We started our meal with the dip trio and it was great! I had the Crunchwrap with chicken which was super yummy and big portions. Ended with the complimentary churro cake. It was DELICIOUS! Can't recommend this place enough!

Michael Q.

Yelp
Maya WELL fills the Minero (left downtown for Maybank) gap. Yes, we miss Brock's Minero, but Maya has created a similar flavor "lane" and executes their "elevated" model well. We'll first compliment Maya on their price point. Upper King's food scene is tough, competitive (many choices), and challenging (staffing). We get it. We knew that we wanted to try Maya after cecking out their menu. Maya walks the line of being authentic AND making you feel comfortable with dishes that you've likely had before...or at least have heard before. Drinks are simple and easy to envision the result/product. The watermelon margarita was tasty and I could have EASILY drank three more. For food, we started off with the "trifecta" appetizer set and REALLY loved the queso skillet. For our entrees, we went "todo" on the tacos. Brisket was a solid choice; all other ingredients well complimented the brisket. LOVED the homemade hot sauce. BEWARE: Lotsa heat here, folks. Great first Maya experience. Service was attentive, worked together, and quickly addressed (few) mistakes. We look forward to our next Maya visit, cold margarita, and exploring the menu!

Ebony M.

Yelp
Make reservations because this cute venue gets busy fast!! We had 845pm reservations and was immediately seated. We ordered the Brussels sprouts for appetizers - Sooo Yummy!!! My dinner was brisket Tacos (2). Another friend ordered cauliflower taco , and a salad. The brisket tacos had an interesting taste not what I'm used too. Meat was tender but it had an interesting seasoning taste. I requested for queso and it came crumbled up and not in liquid queso which I'm accustomed too. The cauliflower taco was tasty however , the actual taco wasn't too good. It is a bit pricey for Mexican food - great ambiance- great for a date night.

Danielle M.

Yelp
So this place isn't horrible but it is no where near worth what they are charging you for it! Trust me save your money and go to Taco Bell before going here. First the ambience inside is awesome! Very pretty and I love the puns they use for dink names. The menu is not every extensive and the tacos are basically tapas and way over priced. The wait staff needs to retrained! Service was terrible. So our experience was lack luster! We ordered tacos and nachos and two drinks. After we ordered another waiter (not ours) brought chips and salsa to our table. Cool that seems typical for a Mexican restaurant, right! Well we found out, nope not typical for this bougie place! They want you to pay $8! $8 for some grocery store bought salsa I think not!? It was annoying too because we did NOT order this overpriced appetizer but apparently our waitress accidentally sent it to our table because she didn't do her job correctly and gave us someone else's chips and then try to slip the item on to our bill!?? No apologizes or saying oh this was my mistake! Nope she tried to get us to pay for someone else's food, I can't not! (And I know she knows what she did because antihero server said to her that she mixed up tables!) Second I ordered a ginger peach margarita! It tasted purely like a bottle of lime juice was dumped in a glass. No ginger and no peach. I even asked our waitress what was the flavor of my margarita and she was like "ginger peach" and walked away, didn't ask if I liked it or if it was okay!? I'm like this service is terrible and this margarita is trash! (Don't worry I still tip 15% because I'm a kind human but really come on let's train our employees) Then our food comes. Well not our food the other tables food because again our waitress doesn't know how to do her job. Thankfully one of the tacos from the other persons order was not what we got, so we declined and said it wasn't ours. If it wasn't for that we would have been eating there food! And I think possibly that other table got my margarita because mine was definitely not ginger peach! Now the food. My friend said the tacos were okay and she did like her ahi tostados. Let me be honest about the nachos, they are better at Taco Bell! Literally there is more meat, toppings, and seasoned better at Taco Bell then this place! Maybe if you get a $40 tequila flight (only 3 tastings too) they sale it's worth it but highly doubt it. Go to Prohibition down the street, so much better!!

Dani P.

Yelp
We made reservations at Maya for a date night with our friends! We loved the food. My husband got the crunch wrap which is HUGE! Neither of us were expecting that! He said it was fantastic! I had the Tacos Al Pastor, love there is many options for GF here! My husband had the Speak the Devil cocktail and I had the Gucci Mane Go zero proof cocktail both were fantastic! The chocolate cake dessert was perfect! The server was great, the atmosphere is nice and small, little upper scale Mexican for Downtown. Parking is limited to garage but just a short walk! We only had one complaint I had a reservation like 1-1/2 weeks in advance for inside as our friends had their infant with us and when we arrived they tried to seat us outside, and we overheard the group in front of us get in without a reservation seated inside. We thought that wasn't fair when we specifically had a reservation for inside because of the cold, they eventually seated us inside but it took 10 minutes before they figured it out.

Dwayne S.

Yelp
We sat at the bar. They are quite impatient. They were nice but consistently rushed us, damping the experience. The food was incredible. A+

Jaclyn P.

Yelp
5/5 s! * BRUSELAS were SO mouth watering. I'm an absolute lover of brussel sprouts and Maya's just became my #1!! First, the plate of bruselas was so big and you'll definitely get a generous amount. They were so easy to chew, and the FLAVOR was absolutely delicious. It's got a hot kick to it, but still very sweet. I could not stop eating these brussel sprouts and I absolutely would've ordered a 2nd plate if I hadn't already ordered my meal! 10/10 would recommend trying the brussel sprouts!! * BRISKET TACOS were yummy! Definitely a small plate, but along with the brussel sprouts, 2 tacos was more than enough to fill my stomach up for dinner. The brisket was cooked so thoroughly and AGAIN, like the brussel sprouts, were so flavorful! Our service was AMAZING and if you are thinking of asking for advice from the waiters/waitresses, absolutely do! They have great recommendations and do a great job of describing the items on the menu. We didn't get to try the chocolate cake but I heard that's also a great way to top off your dinner

Tory D.

Yelp
I came in without a reservation, they were able to accommodate me and I sat at the bar. I ordered Carne Asada fajitas, they were really good, the salsa that was served with it was delicious, I just wish I had some chips or something more to put the salsa on. I'm from Southern California and I'm super picky about my salsa. I was also given complementary Churros. They were warm and delicious, they had a drizzle of caramel and chocolate on them, but I would have liked that more as a dipping sauce because the churros were so good with just the cinnamon and sugar. Lastly, the staff was so kind. Just genuine and good at their jobs. I would recommend visiting here if you are in Charleston.

Mr. And Mrs. P.

Yelp
An unknown gem in Charleston!! Ceviche is a must try! Chips are served warm, don't see that too often. Same with the Guac and chips. Bartender, from Long Island (never got his name) was great. Atmosphere was cool, very chill and not pretentious. Overall service was great. Definitely a must stop during your bar crawl of Charleston.

Mikaela B.

Yelp
This was my favorite stop during my trip to Charleston. Not a "tourist trap" type place, this is seriously gourmet, delicious eats! While the menu definitely has its roots in Mexican cuisine, Maya takes creative liberties with these classics, so while it's not necessarily "authentic" it's got serious flavor! The homemade tortillas and the quality of the ingredients are stellar. The drinks here have beautiful presentation and the restaurant itself has a beautiful aesthetic! We sat out on the covered patio, and while it was pretty warm in there, the greenery was beautiful! The plate setting features a Dia de Los Muertos plate (vibe check, passed) and an extensive list of tequila and mezcal offerings. The menu is simple enough, great small plate options. We started with the skillet chips and queso, solid and just what you'd expect. I also ordered the chiles toreados, which were blistered shishito peppers. They were seasoned well and cooked just right. Loved these! Plentiful vegetarian options here. I ordered the carnitas tacos as my entree and just wow. Those homemade flour tortillas were out of this world. The confit pork shoulder was melt in your mouth tender, and the chicharron "dust" sprinkled over top gave a great texture and immaculate flavors! I got the rice and black beans as an a la carte side and they were absolutely amazing. Some of the best! Taco options come in 2 or 3, no mix and match... but honestly, you can't go wrong with any of these options. Our server handled our party of 7 seamlessly, kept drinks flowing, plates cleared and water refilled. Even with so many amazing spots to try in Charleston, this is somewhere I'd visit again and again. Service, food and ambiance - all boxes checked!

Meera K.

Yelp
This was such a fun last dinner in Charleston for our bachelorette weekend! The food is amazing and so flavorful. Mezcal margarita was good, with tajin rim, the waitress was so nice and got us a round of shots for our bride to be! For starters we got chips and salsa and guac, queso , elote and their seasonal watermelon salad. The salad was my favorite. There was a cherry chamoy spread on the bottom and then topped with fresh watermelon and jicama, so tasty sweet and spicy tangy! For entree I tried the cauliflower tacos and the veggie enchiladas. Nothing out of this world but good dishes! Make sure to ask for their hot sauce! For dessert we got the churros. They were ok, more soggy than crispy. Caramel sauce was good!

Alison C.

Yelp
Our experience at the trendy, new Maya was mixed. The vibe was fun and stylish, the type of place you would have a big group dinner or celebration. The food and drinks, however, were hit-or-miss. My boyfriend's Classic Margarita was uninteresting and fell flat. My Hotel Oaxaca, on the other hand, was a sweet and fragrant blend of mezcal, white flowers, pineapple, lime, and peach. In fact, he enjoyed my dainty cocktail so much that he ordered one for his second round. While waiting for our meals, we eagerly munched on perfect tortilla chips with the ideal amount of salt and a bright salsa. When my Al Pastor Tacos arrived, I was extremely disappointed. At first glance, I could tell that one of the two tacos contained pure fat and zero pork. I could not believe it even made it out of the kitchen like that! I was able to send the fatty taco back and trade it for a fresh one, but still found the replacement meat dry and overcooked. Even its toppings of guac taquero, salsa roja, fresh pineapple, onion, and cilantro did little to improve each bite. Maya had potential, but had more work to do to reach that level.

Deb P.

Yelp
We have come here a few times and enjoyed but it is not consistent unfortunately. The chips first time came out cold and mostly broken in small pieces. Second time much better! Same with food. Biggest problem is if you want tacos and a variety, they don't allow; you can only get all the same. The place is cute and drinks are good!

Rachyl D.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it at Maya! The patio is gorgeous and the food was delicious. We went for my husband's birthday and they went above and beyond to make it a special experience. We can't wait to go back and try their happy hour specials!

Dee B.

Yelp
Great food. Fantastic service. A little dark so hard to read the menu - was small! Would definitely go back and recommend

Anita J.

Yelp
Great cocktails and food! The quesadillas, crunch wrap supreme, and enchiladas are all great! Can't go wrong with any of the tacos either. Definitely recommend making a reservation and trying to sit in outdoor back area if possible!

Telisha T.

Yelp
I was blown away by my dining experience here. They have amazing cocktails the Pineapple Ginger Margarita was so good. And I love all the authentic dishes. I have to say that the Esquites was phenomenal and the Enchiladas! Also, on Friday night the Chef is on the patio cooking. I loved seeing him in action. Their indoor and outdoor space is phenomenal. I just love all the details and the service was on point as well! Follow my foodie adventures on Instagram @sipbiteandtasteit www.Instagram.com/sipbiteandtasteit

Yelp
We came here during restaurant week and the food was outstanding. There are so many places to eat in Charleston, and I am so glad we went here. The service was great. The meal was all so thoughtful and fresh. Highly recommend!

Claire R.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful restaurant!!! We came here for a date night and the ambiance is very warm and inviting. The service was wonderful- our server Emma was awesome and super knowledgeable! We ordered the pastor Crunchwrap which was amazing, the dip trio (which they give you very generous portions of each dip) and the garlic chicken enchiladas. They are now my husband's favorite enchiladas in Charleston! We definitely recommend this place and will certainly be back!!! Thanks!

Jack L.

Yelp
I first want to say that the bartender serving us was amazing! He was incredibly kind and helped make the night better with conversation and drinks. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff made the stay a bit sour. I understand that my party was coming in pretty late which probably did not make the night easier for the staff, but we didn't know that the place was going to close soon. Really appreciated the patience and communication from the bartender serving us and hope that friendliness is contagious for the rest of the team. Oh and the drinks were amazing!

Catherine P.

Yelp
Amazing experience! We went for a bachelorette and they made the table so cute and even made the menus Bach themed! The guac was probably the best we've ever had and the bride could not stop raving about it! Highly reccomend!

Alexa G.

Yelp
Love love love this place. Their whole menu is gluten free! I have been here a few times and tried some tacos and the enchiladas and they were delicious. The best part... they had GF churros, can't tell you the last time I had a churro. Also other GF dessert options. Great specialty margaritas as-well Staff was very friendly. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Brooklyn E.

Yelp
Nice ambiance in the inside seating with dim lighting. Got persephone's garden to drink which was light, fruity, a little tarte, and not too sweet and I enjoyed it. My first time ever ordering birria tacos and was not disappointed. They were nice and crispy topped with cilantro and onions and the meat had a good flavor. Our waitress was very friendly and personable and the food came out extremely quick. Overall a good experience.

Abigail B.

Yelp
The service was really friendly and personable. Drinks were a tad slow to come out but food came out incredibly quick. The drinks were yummy, I got the Percephone's Garden - strong and tasty. The ceviche was really good as well, would be great as a shared app or a meal for someone not too hungry. The ambiance/vibe of the place was great for dinner- sat inside and it was dim lighting and music playing but could still hear other person talking. Good experience, not mind blowing or anything but good dinner.

A M.

Yelp
Such a great date night spot. Our waitress was super helpful with any questions we had and even helped us decide which drinks would be best. The food portions are very generous. We ordered the Maya bowl which feed two people. Also the trio dip for an appetizer was delicious as well. Would definitely come back here!

Andrew J.

Yelp
Really good dinner here the other night. Friendly service and a good space overall as well. Can get a bit loud in there when it's full or if like this trip people bring screaming infants and rather than attend to them they just stare at their phones while the rest of us suffer... don't be those people please. Maya's menu was great no gluten anywhere if that matters to you. I'm not a fan of corn tortillas myself, so that's the only thing keeping them from 5 stars for me. Loved the brussels here and would go back for those anytime. Unique spice/char combo on those that was awesome. Margarita was basic, the Silver Spoon cocktail, however, was my favorite thing I had all night. Tuna TostadaMushroom TacosMahi Mahi TacosBrussels

Yelp
Had dinner on 2/5/2023. It has a nice atmosphere and huge selection of tequila and mezcal... Started with the Chips and guacamole, tasted average for a good Mexican restaurant. I had the original margarita (average/good) and my wife had the pineapple ginger margarita (good). For dinner I had the chicken mole enchilada it was average/good. My wife had the brisket tacos (average/good). Waitress did a nice job. Overall, I will say nice place with average food.

Yelp
I booked this place when visiting Charleston on a whim and I was not disappointed! Our waitress was amazing and was so helpful guiding us through the menu. The drinks (we got the classic margarita) were so fresh and refreshing. The food was incredible. The brussel sprouts are something that is a MUST. They are cooked perfectly with the best sauce on top. My friend got the Caesar salad and added shrimp and it was huge and delicious. I got the Mahi Mahi tacos and I would 100% order them again. Definitely a cute vibe in here and hopefully I can come back soon!

Yelp
Very good food. The skillet queso was delicious!!! Very cute ambiance and service was good. The server and manager were accommodating when there was some confusion with orders. Drinks were good also. Very reasonable prices overall

Yelp
We sat on their beautiful patio and had an amazing time! They were packed but we still managed to fit in four margs per person, because we're professionals. Great vibes (grown man saying vibes here, but it's true!) and wonderful food and drinks. Did I mention the drinks were good? Go and try everything. Pros: everything. Cons: the Mole Verde could have used more sauce but that's kinda nitpicking.
