The Best Restaurants in Sacramento, Roseville, and Elk Grove | Eater SF

"There’s a strong thread of paying it forward in Sacramento’s dining culture: immigrants who arrived decades ago and worked in one of the few restaurants in the city that catered to the cuisine of their homeland have now opened their own restaurants. That’s preface to the story of Maydoon, whose executive chef Idean Farid, has followed in the footsteps of his parents, who’d opened a Persian restaurant of their own in Rancho Cordova, which they sold in 2020. A weekday lunch spread of kashkeh bodemjan (grilled eggplant dip dolloped with yogurt and drizzled with mint oil) and a Maydoon bowl (recommended with the sumptuous shredded lamb) make for a comforting, well-balanced treat — and a scoop of Persian ice cream, made with saffron, rosewater, and pistachios is a must, by the way." - Tamerra Griffin

Highly recommend this place. Food is outstanding. Service is super friendly. Anytime we're in SacTown, this is a must "Stop here" on our things to do. Took my mother here a few times and it immediately became her fave restaurant. The servings are generous so she mostly enjoyed taking her leftovers home. The food is consistently d-lish, which makes me happy and is absolutely high on my list.

After passing by this restaurant countless times, I finally decided to stop in for some authentic Persian food — and I’m so glad I did. From the first bite of the flavorful hummus to the perfectly seasoned shish kabobs, fluffy rice, and tender grilled vegetables, everything was served piping hot and incredibly fresh. The restaurant itself has a warm, welcoming ambiance and was spotless, down to the gleaming gold chandeliers. It’s clear that the owners take great pride in both their food and their space. I’ll definitely be returning for another delicious meal!

Maydoon is serving up some fresh and modern Persian cuisine, and I’m not saying it’s THE best falafel in Sacramento, but... yeah, it prolly is. Let’s talk falafel, shall we? Most falafel is either as dense as a brick or as over-fried as that one person who still doesn’t know how to operate an air fryer. Or both! Maydoon’s? Crispy on the outside, soft, light, and moist (yes, I said it) on the inside. It’s the perfect combo, and it’s making all the other Sac falafel look basic AF. Now, let’s talk Persian cuisine. They’ve got so many vegetarian options that even the most carnivorous among us won’t miss the meat. And for you meat lovers, they’re all about the flex. Maydoon keeps the veggie dishes exciting and doesn’t just serve you a sad plate of bland hummus and sad lettuce (we've all been there). Start with the Combo Platter appetizer — a perfect intro to their super fresh food. The Veggie Kabob is grilled to perfection and seasoned that way too. And let me tell you, the portions? Generous. I ordered like 12 things (okay, maybe 3) and my “I’ll just have a bite” turned into a full-on food coma. My bad. But it was worth it. The staff is top-notch — friendly, attentive, and still smiling even when it’s busy. The setting is cozy, modern, and perfect for any group size. So whether you're on a date, with your family, or just looking to eat your weight in falafel (oh, is that just a me thing?), Maydoon’s got you covered. How I break down my ⭐️ reviews: 1 - No. Not if it was the last thing on DoorDash. 🗑️ 2 - Meh. Maybe if I’m desperate, close, and high. 😬 3 - Mid. Not texting the group chat about it. 🤷‍♀️ 4 - Hella solid. Planning my next visit. 😋 5 - Shut up and take my money. Om Nom Nom. 🔥

Google
This place was absolutely amazing. The customer service was on point, my glass never was empty and I didn't have to wait long for any services. Ordered the hummus to start which I will most definitely be getting again. It was so rich, creamy and delicious, plus it was served with warm, soft pita bread. For the main course, I got the chicken soltani which I would have to say was one of the best decisions I made, next to ordering the hummus to start. The chicken and beef kabob was so juicy and prepared just right. The rice was so fluffy and tender. Lastly, I ordered the baklava for desert OMG it was so sweet and crunchy and the authentic baklava taste engulfed my mouth. I would recommend this place if youre in the neighborhood. A+ on every level.

It was one of the most delicious meals we have had in a longggg time. We went in for lunch, and we are so glad we did. When you first walk in, the decor is beautiful, quiet, and super clean. But it was packed!! Come to find out, it was the last day of Ramadan, and it was the meet-up spot for families. The food..? Amazing. The favorite was definitely the chicken kabob. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The house dressing and green sauce, perfection. The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. 10/10 would definitely recommend stopping by. The ice cream was also a fan favorite for our table. If you're in the area, you should check it out.

This was my first time dining here, and I cannot wait to go again. I sat at a high top in the bar area and the bar tender was very attentive and kind to my table; my water and soda stayed filled. Pro tip: add feta to the Shirazi salad - you won't be disappointed!

Easy to find, it's a little hard to find parking spots in busy downtown. Amazing menu, generous portions, reasonable prices, modern and clean facilities. We were a party of 18, our waitress did a great job, however having to ask for sugar for the hot Tea 3 times, then one of us walked up to the bar and picked up some is not acceptable. Hot Tea should be Enjoyed hot, not at room temperature 10 minutes later, lol. Otherwise, it's a great restaurant.

Came in with my kids at 7pm on a weekday- place had some tables eating but not many and there were many big tops available as well as smaller tables. The table in front of us was told they could sit anywhere they like and seat themselves. She told us they were full and I’m pretty sure it’s just because my four-year-old was being whiny. She said we could eat outside, but it was cold. we ended up going to Chef Burma down the street and it was fantastic. I ordered the beef, curry and potatoes with byrani rice and platha. Everyone (including my four year old) was happy.

Yelp
the food was solid, wine was amazing and the service was great as well. Would recommend going again

Yelp
I flew into Sacramento absolutely craving something close to my Armenian roots and Maydoon delivered. The flavors, the warmth, the culture... it felt like home in a bowl. I went straight from the airport to this spot and the food was so phenomenal, I made sure to go back again before flying out. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and comforting. I ordered a spread of items, and every bite hit the mark. A special shoutout to Natalia her kindness and customer service were unmatched. She even gave me extra rice crunchies (which were addictive) just because I said I loved them. Little gestures like that stick with you. The atmosphere was just as lovely welcoming, warm, and full of community. Hearing Armenian spoken all around made my heart full. If I lived nearby, I'd be here every week without question. This place is a gem, and I can't recommend it enough.

Yelp
Restaurant is clean with a cool vibe. People seemed to be enjoying. The hostess said we are full and it might take 45 minutes. We gave our number and the table was ready in five. When we walked in there were several tables empty. I love irani food and have eaten it in dozens of places in 10 different cities. The food here was good but somehow felt a bit less authentic. Rice lacked butter. Jujeh kabab was juicy n nice but felt different than what I have had before. Koobideh was low on salt. All in all good but maybe a little something was missing. Came out satisfied but not blown away. Service was good.

Yelp
Take chicken thigh meat skewers are amazing!! The chicken is juicy and delicious. Get that!! Everything else was ok. Cute esthetics, clean and large roomy restaurant. Street parking. Prices are average.

Yelp
I enjoyed all of the food. Nicely presented, seasoned and fragrant, and cooked right. I think my only complaint would be that the rice was a little dry. Adding the dips with each bite fixed that. I had the "koobedeh," ground beef on a skewer that tasted like homemade meatloaf. The grilled tomato and pepper rounded out the meal. I also tried my friend's lamb skewer, and the meat was juicy and tender, cooked to medium-well, as requested. Good portions. We ordered the falafel (3 pieces) and the trio dip with pita bread for appetizers. Portions are good but we did have to ask for more of the warm pita bread. The hummus, eggplant, and cucumber yogurt dip were all flavorful and complemented our entrees as well. The restaurant is clean, cute, and cozy. Felt a little warm though, like they need to up the a/c. Our servers were friendly and came around a few times to check on us. If you're in Midtown, try Maydoon for your Persian food cravings.

Yelp
Maydoon is in Midtown Sac and features Persian food. I have been here twice with friends and both times the service was very good, friendly and attentive, and the food was delish! Prices are pretty reasonable, and the ambiance is very clean and comfortable. Try the various Persian delights and you will have taste buds satisfaction. Don't forget the dessert, too.

Yelp
We celebrated my birthday at Maydoon, and what a treat! We arrived just after they opened for lunch and ordered hummus, eggplant dip, crispy rice, Maydoon bowl with falafel, Steak shish-kabob, veggie kabob and the pickled veggies. The hummus was creamy with loads of tahini, just the way we like it! We asked for no yogurt for the eggplant since my daughter in love is vegan, it was perfect scooped in a pita. The guys loved the steak, it was cooked to perfection and flavorful, the veggie kebab was loaded and the falafel was crispy and honestly the best in the valley. We loved their Maydoon sauce and green sauce too. The crispy rice was satisfyingly crispy and perfect to use as a scooper! Our server was so kind and knowledgeable. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
THE BIG: Located in downtown Sacramento near the midtown area and right next to John C. Fremont park. This place has indoor and outdoor seating available and a large menu to choose from. Street parking available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here with the wife and two friends on a low key thursday night. We snagged an outdoor table and just got the tailend of happy hour in which the drink prices were very reasonable. There aren't any umbrellas so it gets really hot until the sun sets. As for food, we got the streak, lamb chops, hummus with pita and chicken shawarma. All had a huge heaping of rice and grilled tomato. Low key, I'm a big fan of the grilled tomato, it's charredness helps bring out the tomato flavor. My favorite meat was the lamb. Something about the small one-two bites of the bone-in meat makes it so much fun. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, the damage done for a ton of food and drinks was around $150. Flavors were great and I highly recommend coming here for some great persian cuisine.

Yelp
Passed by this place a lot; finally decided to try it for lunch, incredible! The food is sooo good. Talk about flavor! I got the lamb bowl and it was bursting with flavor from the first bite. The lamb was tender and juicy, and the green sauce they put on the tomatoes and cucumbers paired really well with the deep flavor of the lamb. All of my coworkers food look incredible too and they all really enjoyed their meals. Also the service was really good, the waitress was really sweet and has a great personality. Gave the impression that we're eating with family at their home. This is definitely in the lunch rotation from now on. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Marcel's foodie score: 5/5

Yelp
Loved Maydoon! Greeted with smiles. Food was so yummy! And fresh! My drink was delicious! Service was a bit slow. I'm assuming they were understaffed. But that won't stop me from coming again.

Yelp
I've recently become a fan of Persian cuisine and Yelp seemed to praise this place highly, so I stopped by for dinner with my dad. I opted for the koobedeh (1 ground sirloin, 1 chicken). I love the rice! It appears so simple looking, but also packs a good amount of flavor. The meat fared okay -- a little too mushy on the texture and didn't have quite the savory taste I was hoping for. My dad went with the lamb shank, one of his all-time favorite foods. This dish performed much better; it's tender, it's well-seasoned, it's everything you'd expect out of an excellent lamb shank. If you happen to order another dish with rice, soak the soup in the rice for a nice surprise. The restaurant looks as spotless as it is elegant. We were greeted promptly at the door and our server was polite. When it comes to the Persian restaurant standards that I'm used to experiencing in Houston, Maydoon upholds them well.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. I can definitely tell when a place is delicious when local folks fill the room. Met a friend here on Sunday night. Asked the server for a custom mocktail, and they SERVED. Ordered the rack of lamb with rice, and my friend ordered the lamb shank. My lamb was well marinated, and served as a delicious leftover the next day. Lamb shank was tender and juicy, especially in the sauce. Vibe was trendy and clean. Would love to come back to try other options.

Yelp
Incredibly delicious kabobs! Maydoon has been on my list to try for quite some time, and ended up being the first new restaurant that I visited in 2025. We sampled a few different items from their menu: - Dolmeh 3.5/5: i like grape leaves but these had a bit of a mushier consistency than i'm used to. flavorful tho nonetheless~ - Chicken Kabob 5/5: wow, so impressed by how juicy and tender the meat was! chargrilled to absolute perfection~ would return again and again for this alone - Soltani (3/5 and 5/5): okay so this one comes with two separate ratings, for the filet mignon and ground sirloin respectively. we went with this one because we felt the filet mignon kabob was a must try but the star of the show ended up being the ground sirloin! -Persian Ice Cream (4/5): a fragrant and refreshing blend of saffron, pistachio and rose water that was a nice palate cleanser to finish off our meal~ Service was a bit on the slower side on the night we went, as the bartender was working double duty waitressing as well. Maydoon is definitely a must-try in Sac, with absolutely standout kabobs (try the chicken and ground sirloin!) as well as an array of authentic Persian-Iranian dishes and an extensive cocktail menu, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends or date night.

Yelp
Definitely a top 10 dinner recommendation all around Sacramento. I highly recommend you make dinner reservations ahead of time especially for a weekend as it can get super busy. I showed up on a Friday night with friends after craving some Persian food. Started off with the Kashkeh Bodemjan and Tadigh for apps which were very flavorful especially if you are a fan of dishes with spices. Main dish was the Gormeh Sabzi which, let me tell you, was insanely filling and delicious! The staff and ambiance here is always great and they are great providing recommendations if you've never had this type of food before. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Came to Maydoon recently and was absolutely amazed by the Chicken /Beef Soltani dish which is Marinated Chicken Thighs and Beef Charbroiled Ground Sirloin kabobs. The Chicken Soltani kabob was super delicious and is honestly one of the best chicken kabobs I've ever had in Sacramento. That is saying a lot coming from me as I'm middle eastern. If it's your first time here then order the Chicken Soltani. Thank me later. Maydoon is now in my rotation when I'm craving a good middle eastern kabob. So good!!!

Yelp
We visited Maydoon on a busy Sunday, which we expected, but the experience felt more disorganized than it should have been. My party of three was seated at the bar, even though there were plenty of empty tables waiting to be cleaned. It seemed like they may have been short-staffed because the service was slow and not very attentive. People had to ring the bell to get someone's attention and not even the bar tender who was the closest acknowledged the people waiting. I opted for the Dine Out Sacramento menu and tried the Mediterranean salad, geymeh, and saffron cake. The salad was larger than expected and a nice start - the croton-like bread was stale, but that didn't stop me from cleaning the plate. The geymeh was flavorful but arrived lukewarm, which was disappointing. The saffron cake was a standout--unique and worth trying! However, I wish they offered sumac, hot sauce, or other seasonings for the rice to give it an extra kick. Overall, the food was okay. I've had better gheymeh elsewhere. The service and overall atmosphere made it hard to fully enjoy. I'd like to give Maydoon another chance, but hopefully, they iron out the chaos for a smoother dining experience.

Yelp
Came with the family. Several tables were open. Hostess said they were reserved and the wait was over an hour?! The restaurant did not seem that busy and there was no line. There were three hostesses having a good time in the front chit chatting. Did not feel like they wanted business or to work.

Yelp
Affordable and incredible meats! I came with 3 other friends and for 3 kebobs, an appetizer, 4 beers and a glass of wine, total was only $150! We were filled to the brim. Cant go wrong with any of their kebobs. The meats are so tender and go will with the dip trio. We got the filet mignon, lamb chops and chicken. Lamb chops comes in 4 and very tender and flavorful. Highly recommend making a reservation if you want to sit inside. Patio is nice, but a little buggy.
google avatar

Choua L.

Yelp
We made a reservation here but it wasn't quite that busy. I think one can do a walkin and be fine! Obviously this is located on one of the busy streets in Sac so street parking is where you can park. The inside is very modern with a slight touch of middle eastern architectural decor/design. It was kind of cute. I ordered a taste of maydoon with chicken. It came with chicken, some mixed greens, must khiar, hummus, pita, and rice. The chicken was tender Delicious! I actually really enjoyed it. Customer service was great! Our waiter kept coming to check and make sure we're good. I really liked that! Would probably return if in the area and craving Mediterranean!
google avatar

Yelp
This place 5/5 for me! Delicious food and generous portion sizes! The atmosphere is so beautiful and it honestly is such a good spot for dates and to catch up with friends!! The servers here know the menu well and we're so kind at explaining everything to us and making recommendations. I can't wait to be back! (:

Yelp
came in on a sunday night around 6pm and it was pretty busy and we got seated at their little tables in the front since they had reservations. so make sure you have a reservation if you want a table. order the combo plate, lamb rack, and koobedeh 2 skewers. everything was so yummy and filling! unfortunately the chicken was a little dry. service here is great and they always check in with you. will definitely be coming back again and trying other items on the menu.
google avatar

Neena V.

Yelp
Maydoon is one of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento! I came by for dinner with a good friend around 5 pm and we were seated right away. There's plenty of seating inside and they also have tables outside too which is great for people watching. There's also a lot of street parking and we got lucky with some A1 parking! Once we were seated, we already knew what we wanted and we ordered the hummus and pita for an appetizer, the Maydoon bowl with chicken for our entrees, and ice cream for dessert. I've been here a few times now and each time, everything is always on point - the food, the service, the drinks! Our waitress Alissa was super kind and sweet. I will always be down for Maydoon because everything is always so fantastic there!

Yelp
This restaurant is kind of hard to get to parking wise, however the food makes up for it and then some. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. You could tell everything was homemade and full of flavor. As a middle eastern myself I usually nitpick every single dish and I had absolutely nothing bad to say. Reminded me of my grandmother's cooking. The ambiance is amazing.

Rowen R.

Yelp
Great flavor and perfect texture on everything!! Found out the bread is made at Jerusalem Bakery! It was a challenge not to fill up on bread and hummus alone. The hummus is perfectly flavored and the texture is smooth. We all agreed that our favorite Kabob was the beef koobideh though all the kabobs were delicious My partner had the green salad which had a delicious herby green dressing. I used some of it on my kabob as well. I personally love the bbq tomatoes and paoring that flavor with the meat of the kabobs. The rice was cooked perfectly. I dont usually get dessert at restaurants but we had to try their house made ice cream and my partner loves baklava. We kept making "mmmm " sounds for some reason Everything here was divine and felt like such a luxurious meal. Happy taste buds and bellies all around! We will definitely be coming back. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are attentive, and also give space to enjoy your meal and conversation. We had Michael and Nathalia waiting on us. Both were engaging, kind, and thoughtful. *They recommend making a reservation though they did find a table for us as walk in customers.

Yelp
Expectations exceeded (and believe me they were high). I spent a lot of my childhood at my Iranian best friend's house. I'd often watch her mom make Tahdig and I loved the nights we had Gormeh Sabzi for dinner, topped with plain yogurt. It quickly became my favorite. This was what I ordered tonight and I was transported right back in time, only thing missing was the Corelle plate ware, you know the one (green border). This was as good if not better than I remembered. The House Gin and Tonic drink was delightful. I ended up ordering two. When I go back, I will get the same. Appetizers we ordered were the eggplant spread (Kashk Badejman), Hummus, and the Dolmeh and they were all delicious. We had a larger party of 8 so we a made reservation. Our server Michael B, was incredibly on point all night long. Just so friendly and accommodating. We truly lucked out having him. I will highly recommend this place until the end of time.

Darina H.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience here at Maydoon for lunch. I ordered the salad w/ lamb on top! So yummy. We also got the hummus dip platter w/ pita bread to start - very delicious! The service was wonderful and the food was so flavorful. Great front staff, amazing food and wonderful space inside (and outside). Street parking can be tricky but it's downtown and you just have to be patient until you find a spot. My gf found a spot right in the front!
google avatar

Kim D.

Yelp
Came here with my husband and child to dine in. Was advised they were completely full and had no tables to serve us due to their reservations. "Try again next time!" Ok fine. I was curious and went on their website after and open table had plenty of open reservations available the rest of the evening. Either they need to close their open table if they were that packed or we were fed BS by a restaurant that just didn't want to serve us.
google avatar

Erika Chloe R.

Yelp
Food was soo tasty! I always order the chicken koobedeh and basmati rice, which is super fluffy and yum. I've been at a time where there weren't many people around and when the place was busy, but both times were comfortable and a pleasant experience inside. They also have an outside patio which looks like a nice place to enjoy a meal. All the servers and staff were helpful and friendly. Definitely a favorite a place of mine when I'm around the capitol. I feel like the portions were fair, but if you tend to eat more, they might seem a bit more pricey. Overall, I'm a fan!
google avatar

Vivian P.

Yelp
Awesome spot in Midtown for flavorful Persian food! We came here for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised! The pita sampler came with three different dips which were all great. Everything seemed like it was made in-house. The chicken plate was also great - so flavorful and they definitely don't skimp on portions! The service was great and there's plenty of seating both inside and on their patio.

Cristele M.

Yelp
Great food! I went with my family after my graduation and we all really liked it, which is saying something as we're Persian lol!
google avatar

Enkhee T.

Yelp
We went with a group of 6 on a Thursday night. I had gone a few times. The dip trio is the best thing to try. It is. Three different dips. The pita that comes with it may not be enough- these are not even portions and I don't think there are free refills on the bread.if you already know which one you like- you can order a full serving of that one. The eggplant dip is more smokey and savory. There is a cucumber dill yogurt one, then the humus dip. There is a must musir dip, which is also a dairy based dip that my friend said is a "must" try We got different kabobs, and the lamb shank. All meats were extremely tender except the chicken- which was a little dry. We ordered "family" style-so they brought out all the meets on one platter and a large plate of rice to share. Service was okay. Close to the park, can be difficult to find parking.

Yelp
Ambiance-- Great for a big group of people! You can also bring a friend or a date for a more quiet conversation. Parking-- Street parking (download the Park Mobile app, bring a credit card, or change) Service-- Incredible! Super sweet and kind. Shoutout to Ali for teaching me about Persian Tea and how to order :) Brandon also has great hospitality! They also have Spanish speakers. I love how internationally accepting this restaurant is. Food-- Delicious! Fresh and savory! I really love the chicken here. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a great meal and amazing time!

Yelp
My friend brought me here for my first time and all I can say is, wow! I loved the simple, yet modernized decoration and how clean the restaurant was. The fresh flowers on the table were an added plus. My friend and I got the Maydoon bowl w/ chicken and I also ordered a side of falafel (not pictured). The falafel was the best falafel I've ever tasted! It came with a tatziki sauce and a green sauce (mix them together, chefs kiss). The Maydoon bowl though......highly recommend! The chicken was well seasoned and everything in the bowl paired so nicely together. I'm not a pickled onion girlie but I definitely am now after having them on my bowl. I wasn't able to finish my bowl so I took the rest to go and can't wait to eat the leftovers!
google avatar

Paris M.

Yelp
The midtown salad with chicken and the Maydoon dressing is my usual order, but everything I've tried here has been good. The hummus is fresh and the pita bread is always delicious. The kabobs and Maydoon bowl are also great.
google avatar

Jenny J.

Yelp
The aesthetic here is beautiful and feels a bit upscale. The staff here is friendly and we have the best waiter that helped us. I believed his name is Dee. Good with conversation plus very attentive with us and his surroundings! I ordered this eggplant dish, kabobs combo plate plus a lamb skewers on the side. OMG, they are absolutely delicious. It's flavorful l, tender, and juicyyyyyy. Yummy. I love how big the portions were. It's good for 2 people! I came here after a long day at Sac Anime. So I was in my cosplay lol. This will be my favorite spot every time I'm in Sacramento!!

Yelp
Maydoon has been on my list for a WHILE now. I ended up visiting for a gift exchange and it did not disappoint! We made a reservation for 12, and although we were 15 minutes early, they were still able to seat us quickly. The interior was gorgeous. Definitely great lighting, upscale, and beautiful decor. They also had an outdoor patio. They had a seperate lunch menu, so I'm assuming their menu selection will change depending on the time you dine. I ordered the Maydoon Bowl and it was super fresh and flavorful. The chicken was tender and delicious. It was also super filling and I was able to take it home to have for dinner later. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. Our food came out within 15 minutes. They also have a bar, i'd love to come back to try any specialty cocktails that they offer.

Yelp
Came for a holiday lunch with my coworkers, and this space was great for large groups. Reservations is highly recommended especially during this holiday season. Saw the host turn away a couple partys of 10+ because they are all booked. Service was fast and the staff was nice. We ordered falafel and an eggplant dip with pita bread as an appetizer to share. I ordered the Koobedeh with two skewers, one with ground chicken and other with ground beef. Both were well seasoned and flavorful. The basmati rice is so fluffy and the roasted tomatoes are so juicy and a joy to eat. My coworkers seem to really enjoy their order as well. Can't wait to come back again to try the lamb shank.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday for lunch. Three of us each ordered the Maydoon bowl. I chose the falafel vs the chicken, lamb or ground beef. The bowl was very fresh lots of cucumbers tomatoes and spices. The falafel was really good would choose it again. We ordered the Must Khiar as an appetizer which was delicious! It's yogurt mixed with cucumber and mint served with pita. Plenty for three of us and it was tasty added to the Maydoon bowl. I checked in via Open Table right at noon which was my reservation time but they ended up canceling my reservation which was strange! Had to pay for parking which expires in two hours or less so that's a pain but that's common for the location.

Yelp
Came for the Dine Downtown menu and it did not disappoint!! Fantastic food!! The traditional Ash was excellent and rich! The domeh were very tasty! The best dishes were hands down the Cornish hen and the amazing lamb!! Well worth the 45 minute wait on the lamb! Drinks are great here too! I had the Tehran nights!! The desserts were my least favorite but only because I typically don't like the types of spices but I will definitely be back! Service was excellent and the ambiance was very bright and warm!

Yelp
Very delicious and authentic Persian food. We have the koobedeh and fessed joon and dip trio. The staffs were very friendly and the restaurant is clean with a nice deco.

Yelp
Pretty disappointed with my recent experience.Liked that they allowed me to do the Dine Sacramento while the rest of the table order a la carte. I got the soup to start: so much potential but it came out COLD. Like it wasn't heated up at all. I asked for a sauce to give it a little more flavor and then noticed at the end that they charge me $2 for a small portion of it... twice (because it needed that much flavor) Lamb shank: delicious but a little salty Cardamom cake: good- shared it with my friends and they liked it as well. I've been here before and it wasn't that much busier than usual but the service definitely lacked.

Yelp
We went here for Dine Downtown on Friday night and ordered the Mediterranean caesar salad, we split the baghali polo lamb and cornish kabob, baklava poptart and saffron cardamom cake. The cornish kabob was delicious and something not normally on the menu so I highly recommend choosing that option. Also, I loved the baklava poptart so I would choose that over the saffron cardamom cake but both were good. The salad was flavorful as well. Definitely worth it.

Yelp
I was blown away at how fresh and delicious this place was. I savored every bite of the pomegranate chicken stew with saffron rice. The meat just melted in my mouth and the sauce was tangy, savory, and buttery. The Maydoon bowl was full of fresh ingredients, succulent grilled chicken, topped with green sauce and pickled onions. I am going to, definitely, come back. I am SO GLAD to have been introduced to this place!

Yelp
So far the best restaurant (not just best Persian food) we have tried in Sacramento area. Service is amazing, food delicious. Even parking was easy to find. They have lots of vegan options. Make sure to try tahdigh with one of the khoresht (stews). Ghayme and ghorme sabzi and fessenjood were all delicious. They will make the stews vegan if you ask. We have gone here a few times now and I have tried different dishes and man they were all so good!! Make sure to get torshe and salad shiraze with any of the stews. They are both amazing. I know must -o-khiyar (yogurt dip) is popular but it is not vegan. Our waiter both times was an African American gentleman who I forgot his name. I won't be lying if I say, he was the reason we went back. He was the a delight. I wanted to make sure to give a shout out to him (sorry buddy I forgot your name). I highly recommend this place. If you are in Sacramento just eat here. Good food good service good price.

Yelp
This is our second time coming to Maydoon and we're absolutely in love! the minimal but elegant Persian inspired decor, the excellent service, superior food, checks all our boxes. We got 2 appetizers : the dip trio and falafel. The dips were delicious but the falafel was the tru star. I feel a lot of places don't get falafel right and it turns out being too dry. The maydoon falafel was crispy on the outside and fluffy and moist on the inside. The yogurt base and green sauce paired very well. The chicken kabob plate was also amazing. Chicken breast was cooked to perfection and the rice was so fresh and fluffy. The lamb bowl was bursting with flavor and a decent portion size as well. The perfect end to the night was the Baklava which was the perfect balance of sweet, crunchy, and nutty!

Yelp
Overall: Solid spot for Persian food in Sacramento, offering a nice modern ambiance (but still casual) at fair prices and decent food. Was a recommendation from a local friend and had it for dinner. Food: got Maydoon Bowl with lamb - Felt like it was decent but lacked a punch/sauce to it? They should offer a side of some sort of sauce, either yogurt-based or I'm not sure... but it tasted a little dry - Would do the Taste of Maydoon next time - Eggplant dish was good, but would be better if pita bread and dish came out piping hot Drinks: got the Baba Jafar (a slightly sweeter old-fashioned) and the Goli Joon (spin on French 75, per the waitress) for drinks. Goli Joon was a tad too sweet for me, but I liked the Baba Jafar. Dessert was THE best thing!!! The ice cream and baklava were divine! IF you've been to Raffi's in Glendale (Los Angeles), this place doesn't compare in terms of food. BUT it's a nice offer for Sac and it's pretty decent. Would come back to try it again. Service: slow but nice, they were busy so understandable

Yelp
FINALLY checked out Maydoon for dinner last night, but before I start, let me say that this review is based off of a to-go order. I ordered online for a pick-up and when I arrived, it was ready early - which I liked. The inside was so clean, modern and just slick looking, ya know? It was pretty empty at 5:15pm, but I assume they get pretty busy around dinner time. The inside had a massive bar and the servers looked like they were getting ready for the rush. We ordered the Chicken Maydoon Bowl, Chicken Shish Kabob and a side of pita bread with Must Khiar. Everything was so vibrate looking and tasted fresh. I absolutely loved the Maydoon Bowl, it was flavorful and the big pieces of chicken were very juicy. I ate half for dinner and saved the rest to have for lunch today (my mouth is water as I type this). My husband wasn't a huge fan of the Shish Kabob, but I think it's because he needed something with more flavor. The Must Khiar was refreshing and paired well with the massive sized pita bread - I'm used to the little triangle pieces that some places give out. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and would love to come back to not only dine in, but to also try some new dishes! I heard their ice cream is pretty great! I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Great food and ambiance. Good portions and reasonably priced. Great for large gatherings. Not the quietest place for conversations.
