A Mayflower tractor-trailer. Jack knifed in the road on I 95. North between exit Thirty 7 and I believe it was 42 period if not, it was directly after 42 period the Jack knife thing was probably caused by a tire throwing its complete tread period I was driving 95 North and came upon this accident right after it happened apparently because I did not see that tread called a road alligator and the middle of the Right hand laying in traffic period and I hit it with my front bumper period I didn't realize that there was any damage done until I got home that night when I realized I it had just about knocked my bumper off and it was tracking the ground as well as knocking out my fog lights period when I called Mayflower about it the next day. They claim that there was no vehicle of mayflowers Delivering that day. Even though I saw a mayflower on the container trailer of that tracker. They said that they use g p s to track all of their vehicles and they apparently missed this one. When I called the South carolina highway patrol they said that Yema sue police department had handled the reporting of the incident, We're leaving the highway patrol of reporting it. After two days of calling yemassee, The Sheriff said that they did not take a report on the incident. Because the driver, with a CD l license, did not wish to file an accident report Because apparently There was no damage period well. They did not file anything on the incident. They did not get the driver's name or anything else of that nature and I was told that I was gonna have to cut my losses. Because I only have liability insurance. So now currently, my front fender on my car is being held up by a piece of rope. It's really beautiful. When I called mayflower the operations manager, whoever he was, was very smug and very condescending with me acting like there was no one there. The Reason, they didn't get A report of an incident was because the driver told the sheriff's department not to follow a report if this is actually correct. And I find it hard to believe that there was not an incident report at all reported because of the commercial vehicle involved in the jack knife in the road. I understand that individual private owners of vehicles such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, and such can choose or elect not to follow report, especially if there's only a single car involved. But anyone driving commercially and an incident like this happens, there should be no expectation of not filing any reports simply because these are commercial vehicles. The driver is responsible for the safety of their vehicle. The driver is responsible for the safety of their vehicle. But in some cases such as throwing a tread on a tire, They are unable to see any warning signs of that happen all the time. Treads blow for various reasons.. Of course, I understand that the driver would not want to have that report made. Because he could possibly lose his CDA license because of previous violations.. So to me, it was just a cover up. And they swept it under the rod and did not accept responsibility for their actions. In the small town sheriff's department of yemassee Should understand that they need to file reports on all commercial. Ve hickles, just like any other city does. The good old boy system does not work whenever it comes down to the highway patrol, as well as incidents and involving commercial vehicles.
