May's Coffee Shop

Reasonable Coffee & Cake, Shame the staff don't engage with customers when serving at the table, also when I went to pay Becky didn't engage one bit, she was to busy looking elsewhere.. Be nice if she took time to look at customers when paying & maybe ask if everything was OK, she didn't even say goodbye, it was like I was invisible. 👎

We have been going to this cafe for a while now and at the start they got our orders right but for the last 4 weekends when I have ordered breakfast they have got it wrong. I asked for a dry roll with breakfast items on it and they gave me a buttered roll with the items on it when I told them I asked for dry they took it away and just transferred the items which had buttered on them onto a dry roll .. Not happy with that . The girls that take the order and write it down I don't think it's their fault I think its the kitchen staff not reading the list right but for this to happen over 4 weekends is just not right.

Brilliant coffee shop. The coffee is delicious, the hot chocolate is delicious and the food is delicious. Great service too!

We visit May's at least once a week for the good food, reasonable prices and fabulous staff...

Great place for a bite to eat and quick coffee stop. The owner is a super friendly and welcoming and looked after us very well. Delicious coffee and apple pie, too! Thanks!

Edit to review below: In fairness I should have added that we have eaten in here before and had no complaints - with the service and food being pretty decent. In fact the service from the woman with the Eastern European (???) accent being particularly nice. Was probably just disappointed that the usual levels of service weren’t being maintained. Difficult to rate the food and atmosphere when you are refused service. Went into the cafe for takeaway food at 3.05pm after checking on google it’s closing time - shown as 4pm. Told that it’s cakes and coffees only as the kitchen was closed. When I asked what time the kitchen closed I was told ‘usually’ 3.15 ‘but the chef is tidying up and won’t do anymore food’. Pretty poor customer service. Some place just get custom far too easily and stop trying.

First time here, won't be my last. A great selection of food, which you can mix and match, cooked perfectly. They do a beautiful Scottish breakfast

Came for coffee and cake with husband and son. Told to take a seat but not told whether to order at table or counter. After ten minutes of being ready to order and no one coming we tried to order at the counter and was told they would come to the table. It took another good while for anyone to come over and take our order. Coffee and cake were fine but on service alone we won't be returning.
