I’ve been painting every room in my apartment and Kevin has been amazingly helpful (and patient!) with making recommendations mixing all of that paint. He’s an excellent addition to the Mazzone team! Thank you.

This is such a wonderful store, Terrell and the rest of the staff give so much great information, completely different than a big box store, they know how to fix everything and explain how to use things. Wonderful for a first time novice, they take their time and are always available. And obviously also seems very useful for experienced people, so many items. So glad stores like this are still around!

I’ve been going to this Ace for years and I swear they employ the nicest people here. Solid garden selection for backyard gardeners.

I lived in the neighborhood all my life and this hardware store has the worst people, services and products out of all the hardware stores I have been too. Avoid if your life depended on it.

Good staff and lots of them, high standard hardware store. Not the lowest price in area but have the goods and will order them for you. Regulars can set up accounts,a real throwback and useful if your doing work in the area. Nice to be able to run in and out quick instead of waiting. The garden center is packed with plants every month except the most cold. But you have to grab things when you see them, they move quick! It’s an Ace affiliate, so the app for discounts and mailers is helpful. Watch out for real tool sales too. Got a nice Craftsman 20v drill with battery and charger for a good price.

This is the best Ace . They also have plenty of people to help you find even the smallest screws and they make keys with a large garden area . I bought my grill from them and received so a great level of customer service . This is well stocked and a pleasure to shop here .

Small store with inherently limited but broad selection that still hosts an outdoor garden section. Well space is limited. The shop still maintains: paint, hardware and tool departments albeit with limited selection of each. It's well staffed. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable enough to offer helpful advice.

Man, do I wish this was my local hardware store. It's less than a mile away, and in most places that would be super local, but here in Brooklyn I've got two or three closer. Those shops wish they were Mazzone though. If I have the time (which I rarely do), I would much rather come down here. The folks behind the counter are friendly, knowledgeable, and they've always got everything I need. The prices are reasonable as well. It's just a little too far for me to walk for just a lightbulb or a screw that I need, but for larger purchases, or if I have actual questions, I find it's worth it. One thing that I like getting from them is my Christmas tree every year. They've always got a great selection, and I'd rather spend my money locally than with the Home Depot, the Whole Foods, or even the dudes on the street who trek down from Canada or wherever. Here the service is better and friendlier; the trees are great, they will saw the end off it (necessary for drinking the water up), and help me strap it to my car if it's too big to fit inside (or if I'm trying not to get needles everywhere). Anyway, Christmas is over for the year, but Mazzone is forever.

The customer service at Mazzone Hardware is excellent! They are so welcoming to their customers and do a phenomenal job of explaining things, from what to buy to fix broken pipes to the different types of paint finishes (they sell Benjamin Moore paint products). It's not a huge store in terms of size but it packs a hefty punch. Plus, they have a nice garden center with plants, vases, and seasonal items. We are fortunate to have this long-standing store in Carroll Gardens!

I went to grab some items to finish painting our laundry room, and I'm thrilled with the friendly and knowledgeable staff here. The aisles are a bit tight, but there's a great selection in each one. Since we live in the area, I think I've found our new go-to hardware store!

Family operated business that is jam packed with merchandise for home improvement, all your paint needs, gardening and BBQ season. They nearly have it all. What I like about Mazzone is that the staff is friendly & always willing to help or answer any questions. Some of their prices seem to be more elevated than a Lowe's for example, but they are a family business. There is an outdoor section that allows them to sell lots of plants, herbs, vegetables and flowers for planting in the warmer weather. You can also buy your Christmas tree/wreaths here during the holiday season. And don't forget about the mums. If you love them as much as I do, it will soon be the time to buy them in an assortment of colors. Solid hardware store.

I walk to this hardware store regularly even though it's farther than the other ones. Why you might ask? Because the employees are friendly, helpful and competent, which is not the case with the aforementioned other ones.

This store is a life saver. Its located conveniently where you can always access it and despite not looking gigantic like a home depot, you will always find the right stuff. Best part of all is that the staff is super knowledgeable and extremely pro active in helping. I went in today trying to figure out how to change my bulbs for an old track light. Patrick who helped me not only helped figure out which bulbs but also installed them into the heads while I was there. I was in and out in 5 mins. Super service, amazing staff. 5 star all the way !!!!

I don't agree with the poster who said the staff "looked down on her." I have had nothing but great experiences with the people there. They're always quick to ask what I'm looking for and have offered expertise about repairs for free. They are always nice! Makes me think the poster is the one with the attitude.

Once I got inside I realized how big the store is and how much merchandise they have. It's a lot. When shopping for home improvement merchandise, I am looking for a tip and advice besides that pricing and the merchandise. It is one of the reasons why I stopped shopping at Hone Depot. Beside the support for local neighborhood stores. At Home Depot you do not get service that is good enough. Here I got the whole package. Answers, tips, recommendations, and even helped me to save some money. Recommended.

If you like great service, this is the place to go. If you are tired of the zombies working at Home Depot, this is the place to go. They are genuinely interested in helping you solve any home problems you are dealing with. Prices are reasonable to boot. We need to keep retailers like these in business. Stop the bleed into Amazon and Home Depot who do not deserve our money while turning our communities to vacant sad shells.

It's a nice hardware store to get plants and tools. But I recently bought a bag of soil that turned out infested by millipede....

I contacted Mazzone's locksmith (Christian), left him a voice message asking him to take a look at the front door to our building. We have a buzzer system and the door was not closing on its' own. Christian returned my voice message within an hour, asked me to text pictures to help him assess the situation, as house calls are limited due to COVID. He ended up coming over and he fixed the lock. Mazzone has always been super helpful, thank you for serving Carroll Gardens all these years and for being there for us during these times. Please folks, support your local businesses as much as possible.

Convenient yes but you're lucky if the staff don't either patronize you or just look down on you if you're not a yuppie or contractor!! It's always a coin flip (there are maybe 2 who are good) As a landlady/designer with experience in multiple areas, it's annoying when even the Manager has attitude!! Hate Lowes & HD but staff are frequently better than expectations!!

Customer Service goes above and beyond what is expected of them.. This is family run business and it shows.. You can go to Home Depot or some other mass market big box store and get treated like garbage.. Or, you can come here and speak to someone who's last name is on the building.. These guys are great, they are helpful and they are everything a Hardware store use to be and still should be.. Support your local family business and shop here..

Just purchased a "Big Green Egg" from Mazzone Hardware on Court Street...not only was it in stock but the excellent salesperson Tyrell took an incredible amount of time to explain the options, assure all parts were in and walked over to our car to see whether it would fit car..so as HE suggested, we opted for delivery and assembly given the size and weight. Excellent SERVICE, OVER and BEYOND Speaking of EXCELLENCE Lou and Roberto the delivery and assembly guys, showed up promptly the next day at the time promised, slaved over what was not a simple assembly, did a top-notch job, and did not leave til they were sure it was PERFECT. They were courteous and professional, something seen only rarely these days.. I cannot say enough about how they took care of delivery and assembly... Unequaled professionalism Need to also mention the counter staff who were helpful and polite too! In all, Mazzone has a customer for life... Sounds like I was satisfied, right ???..The owner should be proud this store carries his family name Forget "big box" and go local!

I had the best experience at this location. I went in not knowing what kinf of plants to get (I know nothing about plants). But, thanks to the knowledge and patience of Lenny who works in the garden I now know I can have begonias and impatien's in my poorly lit apartment. I had a million and one questions and he answered all of them. That is the definition of great customer service and I will definitely recommend this place for anyone that doesn't have a "green thumb" such as myself. The staff their is equipped to assist you, especially Lenny. Thank you once again, see you soon.

Excellent customer service!! Ask for Randy in the garden center and you will get amazing help and service. Stopped in with friends to fill a window box and the service, selection, and overall feel of this neighborhood garden center was fantastic. Lots of green varieties, pretty flowers, and so much to choose from. If you're doing a garden or planting project for sure check out this spot and you'll get some great customer service!

This review has been a long time coming. Let me start by saying that I know absolutely nothing about any of those "DYI/handy people thingies" but you've got to do what you've got to do when stuck between a rock and a hard place.... and so, I happen to walk into Mazzone Hardware one Sunday morning while waiting for a friend who was running late for brunch. At the time, I was in the complicated process of attempting to undo a whole lot of damage done by some very ... "not nice" tenants, while doing my best not to break the bank. Walking past the store I thought - "well, there was that Pinterest post I saw about fixing a tub, may be I can actually find something here." I walked in and was immediately greeted by friendly faces (later to be known as Nelson and Dwayne) offering to help. With an apprehensive "I don't know if it's possible but perhaps" I asked if there is such as thing as painting your tub instead of buying a new one as Pinterest claimed I was supposed to be able to do...and what do you know! indeed! Nelson was able to give me various options where not only did I not have to spend hundreds of dollars on a new tub and its installation but was able to get a "fix it" for less than $50!!!! Having this huge project on my hands, I ended up at Home Depot that evening to pick up "little odds and ends to start with" and get some more advice - boy was I a fool. Having wasted 2 hrs of my life and not gotten far, I decided to return to Mazzone's. Things certainly happen for a reason - I've gone back to Mazzone Hardware multiple times, asking questions, seeking advice, getting more supplies. The team at Mazzone's has proven to be most helpful, friendly, and encouraging. From pluming and electrical to the paint room, all the guys - Nelson, Dwayne, Lou, Roberto, Matt and even Patrick - have been of a huge help for my "little DIY" project of renovating a house. Thanks to Nelson, I was not only able to "rejuvenate" a bathtub, but also completely redo the butcher's block for less than $70! (pictures attached); as well as undo (what at the time appeared to be devastating) damage to a previously "barely used" stove. The girls at the register - Shatima, Bee, and Olivia, helped maintain positive attitude while the end did not seem to ever be in sight. The managers - Liz and Jordan - have been super helpful with additional advice/returns/and general questions (thanks for helping with the rewards card Liz!!!). The garden experts - Sylvia and Karod - helped in making things look pretty with advice on the outside (plants etc) of it all. Even the delivery guys, Hallum and Angelo, were always there with an encouraging word. The team at Mazzone is not just "employees at a local hardware store" - they're really a family who don't make you feel silly for asking silly questions and are always ready to help guide you along in your project. Thank you all for your friendly smiles, encouraging comments, directions, and never-ending patience for the (even more so) never-ending questions of a "need-help-please!" customer. The neighborhood is lucky to have the team at Mazzone Hardware for the little, as well as big things around the house.

Came here after dealing with a rude guy with a nasty attitude at Bruno's hardware. I will never go back there. Everyone here is courteous and helpful. Bought window screens in to be fixed. I had some questions and they said they would do all they can to do the repairs I mentioned. Salesman helped me pick out pick out paint and mixed it. The perfect neighborhood hardware and paint store.

When you're below a certain age you probably don't know what a true "neighborhood" shop is like. One where you enter and they say hello (and not like a robot). They ask if you need help finding something and then actually take you to the exact location (versus feigning like they know and annoyingly pointing you to a far away location). They throw events for the neighborhood to encourage community and have great activities for children during them. Well, millennials, rejoice! This is that neighborhood shop. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. They have stock of the things you need and know where everything is. They care about the residents and it shows when they throw street festivals and give back. If you're looking for something hardware store related (or seasonal too), and want to promote and encourage local shopping while getting amazing service and a fair price head on over to Mazzone. Bonus: they also have a great, reliable locksmith that works all the time. Don't get scammed by Googling for a locksmith and finding a service that will only drill your lock and gouge you.

Mazzone is a great neighborhood hardware store. They have a lot more stock than you'd think, so just ask! I'm an independent design-build remodelers and I stop in here almost daily. This is the go-to spot for paint as well, carrying the best paint-Benjamin Moore. I recently used their locksmith service and was very happy with the result. The price was very fair considering it required a house call. Whenever they can find you parts, and avoid that house call, they will. We are very fortunate to have such a great local business!

Good, helpful, well stocked family owned neighborhood hardware and paint store. Someone will always greet you and ask if you need help. There is also a garden center in the spring and summer.

I have now fixed both the outer and yesterday the much more complicated inner door. All thanks to Mazzone's expert guidance of this "unhandyman." I got the right screws, pin and instructions on how the door knob apparatus works. The repair took less than an hour total, ~$20 and probably saved me a couple of hundred bucks. Our doors are working better than they have in 5 years! Great place and many thanks!

Excellent service! When I couldn't find the grill I wanted, they ordered it and delivered it, already assembled, for free! Best reason to use a local store rather than a big box store.

Will never go to a Lowes or Home Depot again - the attention, neighborhood feel, dog treats and knowledge at this place is unprecedented!

I went to Mazonne because I had a plant in tough shape. I don't know anything about plants, somebody gave me one. Sylvia told me email her pictures of the plant. Then she told me bring in the plant. I brought in the plant. Sylvia knew just what to do. She is like the grand sorceress of botany. She took the plant and threw it in the air. I said Sylvia what are you doing?!? When the plant landed it had a new clay pot home, new soil, fertilizer, water and all trimmed. I couldn't believe it. It was magical. Also, she showed me everything she did and told me how to take care of the plant in the future. So, I learned something that day and also saw some magic. People who work here, very passionate about what they do. 5 stars.

Pretty big hardware store with just about everything you'd ever need to buy, including plants and barbecue grills. Staff is ultra friendly and helpful.

Every time I'm here, the employees are all so friendly and helpful. If they're unsure whether or not something is in stock or where it's located, they go out of their way to find an answer. They have a nice garden section as well - they even allowed me to borrow one of their hand carts so I could wheel my purchases home (I didn't want to wait for delivery). Overall, very pleased with the experience I've had here - great customer service and decent selection. Would highly recommend.

5 Stars for their locksmith, Christian. Meant to write this review ages ago as Christian did a truly phenomenal job replacing our deadbolt with a Mul-T-Lock as well as the lock set for our entry door handles (that was having serious problems). This wasn't a simple swap out job as the 25 year lock set was from manufacturer that no longer exists and would have been impossible to replace. I had spent a day trying to fix myself and within 30 minutes Christian was able to undo the damage I had done and get the lock working like new. Christian is by far the best locksmith I have ever dealt with. Super fast, friendly, honest, and fantastic pricing (was 1/3 less than other locksmiths I talked to). Aside from Christian, I have always had a great with Mazzones. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

I think this is my first Yelp review. I have never experienced such specific, patient, efficient customer service before heading into Mazzone hardware. I am putting up a Bed Bath & Beyond shelf in my bathroom. The plastic anchors and screws I had weren't going all the way in to the holes I had drilled. I needed (so I thought) shorter anchors and screws.... I couldn't find them while looking myself (very much appreciated letting this girl LOOK on her own for a bit in the hardware store, by the way), and after explaining my bizarre predicament, realized shorter items don't exist. I needed a new drill bit, one that could go through *anything*... even the brick I had apparently drilled into. Only $6!! Drill deeper w/that, and some replacement anchors (as I had bent mine with hammering) and I was out of there in under 8 minutes, about $8, learned a few things, and felt empowered to move forward w/my project. I live in Prospect Park South. Only in Carroll Gardens for a babysitting job. I will trek here again with pleasure. Whatever they're doing here, it's right on the money.

What the neighborhood hardware store should be. Nice salespeople, great selection, reasonable prices. This is the kind of place where everyone can go, no matter what their project or level of expertise, and receive quality customer service. I went in there looking for paint samples and couldn't find the color that I wanted. The teenage guy that was asked to help me really did his best to find it, even though it appeared from the start that they might be out of stock. Keys can be made, plants and firewood are for sale, and they have brand names and some generic ones in stock. In the future, if I haven't purchased enough sandpaper or dropcloths from Lowe's or Home Depot, I will be coming here to make my last-minute hardware purchases. I just wish that it was closer to my house than Sam's Hardware on Court St. But I think it's worth the extra 5-10 min. walk to avoid the attitude and rudeness that I've gotten at Sam's.

Let me preface this review by saying I am not a person who loves hardware stores. I like doing little DIY type things, but a hardware store is generally not a place where I recognize most of the items on the shelf or where I feel comfortable. That said, Mazzone is a great neighborhood hardware store. They've got all the basic stuff you'll need, and the prices are pretty good... but what really makes this place great are the salespeople! They are so nice and so helpful! I had a question recently about what to use the seal unfinished wood. An employee walked me to their selection of polyurethane and took a good 5-10 minutes to patiently explain (I can be a little annoying so this is no small feat!) to me the differences between the types and help me select the one that would work the best for my product. I was able to walk out of the store knowing how to complete my project and knowing without a doubt that I had picked the right supplies to get the job done. That kind of service can't be beat anywhere! Wonderful independent stores like this are the reason Carroll Gardens is a great place to live. Thanks Mazzone Hardware! P.S. I come here for all of my home improvement needs. Paint, keys, locks, and whatever I can't find, they order for me. Plus they're reasonably priced.

Well-stocked, with friendly, knowledgeable staff. There are so many helpers that you'll be in and out in minutes. Forget about Lowes and Home Depot -- this is the real deal. One of the best businesses in my neighborhood.

Always so helpful! I am an 'out of town' girl, away from my parents. Always need little odds and ends and this place beats any other hardware store. Always patient enough to listen to my little problems. Its the service that amazon can't give you!

This place has the worst customer service. I've had multiple negative experiences and will not come back. I live two blocks away but would rather walk an extra 10 min or take the subway to another hardware store than come here again. First, I once brought a plant to be potted and the lady who always works in the nursery straight up refused to pot it for us. She didn't give any reason but it was clear she was too lazy to do it. We offered to pay her to pot it but she gave us a ton of attitude and asked us to bring it back the next day to pot it. Wtf? I went inside to complain about her attitude and somehow this moron still works there. Second, I just called them a few minutes before closing time to ask if they could please wait for me to run over (I live TWO blocks away) to get a flower pot. The lady told me flat out "no" and that she couldn't hold the store open for me. All it would have required was for them to stay open maybe a few minutes longer but now they have not only lost a sale but also a customer. Seriously, some kind of local business. Every time I think about that lazy chick in the nursery I am so angry because she literally had the worst attitude I've ever seen. Do NOT shop here.

Refused to let me return an UNOPENED space heater. liked this place, sad to say I'll be shopping elsewhere from now on.

Probably the friendliest store I have visited in a looong while !! We made the trek from the north end of Cobble Hill near Court and Atlantic, as the True Value there were out of tins for the paints and suggested we goto Mazzone, which am so glad we did. Even though the store was very crowded on a Sunday afternoon, the staff was extremely patient with our newbie questions and concerns. While standing in the checkout lines, one of the guys from the store, stopped by and suggested we swap the thick paint rollers in favor of thin ones, which made so much sense later when we actually started painting our walls, as the thick rollers would have made the walls look like pop-corn ceiling with excess paint dripping all over! This tip was a life saver :) Am going here again for all my hardware needs in future, even though it is out of my way !!

The best customer service I've experienced at any store, period. The people who work here genuinely enjoy their work, their colleagues, and helping the people who walk inside every day. I wish they were open a little later sometimes, but that just means I get to come on the weekends. It feels weird to say this of a store that's technically one of many Ace Hardwares in the country, but Mazzone feels like an actual part of the Carroll Gardens ecosystem. It's like Cheers in here, not kidding. Everyone knows everyone.

This is an amazing hardware store. We come from BK Heights specifically for Nelson and his amazing work with our lighting! He re-wired two lights for us - essentially bringing them back to life. Not only did he do a great job, but in advance of the work, we sent him photos, he emailed us back very quickly and gave us great guidance. He was so thorough and nice; I wish everyone took as much pride in their work and in making customers happy! We will definitely be back and spreading the word!

I love Mazzone! Friendly staff, and stocked to the ceiling with what you need. There is even a gentleman on staff who completed some bench work for a vintage ceiling lamp I needed rewired. Sometimes on my way home from work, I'll stop off at a big box retailer and it amazes me that they never have what I need. I've finally learned my lesson to just go straight to Mazzone... The weekends there are very lively too, I always feel like I'm at a family picnic. A neighborhood gem for sure.

This store is amazing. It's one of the stores that you wish will never disappear because they are so essential to a neighborhood fabric. The staff strikes the perfect balance of knowledgable and friendly. Can't get enough.

Amazing staff! I stopped by on a whim to see what they could suggest for an indoor table far from my south-facing window. A handful of recommendations were given with explanation of other variables to consider and when they mentioned that a specific fern couldn't really get overwatered (which I tend to do) and that it would get huge (which I want) I was sold! And it was so affordable! Then another staff member mentioned their favorite soil and then after chatting with my original staff person for a second she gave me a free cut from a spider plant! And THEN when I went to the cashier THEY got genuinely excited for me and my spider plant cut, too! Best experience ever.
